The effect of micelles of different surfactants (cationic, anionic, and neutral) on the kinetics of the glucose oxidase-catalyzed reduction of ferrocenium cations RFc+ (R=H, Bun) byd-glucose was studied by spectrophotometry. In micellar media of Triton X-100 and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), the Michaelis dependence of the reaction rate on the HFc+ concentration is observed, while this dependence has an extreme character in cationic micelles of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB). The nature and concentration of surfactants of all types have a slight effect on the rate of reduction of HFc+. The level of enzymatic activity is approximately equal in the case of Triton X-100 and CTAB and is considerably lower in the SDS micelles. On going from HFc+ to BunFc+, the reaction rate is maximum in the cationic CTAB micelles, the anionic SDS micelles exhibit almost no activity, and the activity has an intermediate value in neutral micelles of Triton X-100. Effect of solvent on the excited-state photophysical properties of curcumin   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
Photophysical properties of curcumin, 1,7-bis-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxy phenyl)-1,6-heptadiene-2,5-dione, a pigment found in the rhizomes of Curcuma longa (turmeric) have been studied in different kinds of organic solvent and also in Triton X-100 aqueous micellar media using time-resolved fluorescence and transient absorption techniques having pico and nanosecond time resolution, in addition to steady-state absorption and fluorescence spectroscopic techniques. Steady-state absorption and fluorescence characteristics of curcumin have been found to be sensitive to the solvent characteristics. Large change (delta mu = 6.1 Debye) in dipole moments due to photoexcitation to the excited singlet state (S1) indicates strong intramolecular charge transfer character of the latter. Curcumin is a weakly fluorescent molecule and the fluorescence decay properties in most of the solvents could be fitted well to a double-exponential decay function. The shorter component having lifetime in the range 50-350 ps and percent contribution of amplitude more than 90% in different solvents may be assigned to the enol form, whereas the longer component, having lifetime in the range 500-1180 ps with less than 10% contribution may be assigned to the di-keto form of curcumin. Our nuclear magnetic resonance study in CDCl3 and dimethyl sulfoxide-D6 also supports the fact that the enol form is present in the solution by more than about 95% in these solvents. Excited singlet (S1) and triplet (T1) absorption spectrum and decay kinetics have been characterized by pico and nanosecond laser flash photolysis. Quantum yield of the triplet is low (phi T < or = 0.12). Both the fluorescence and triplet quantum yields being low (phi f + phi T < 0.18), the photophysics of curcumin is dominated by the energy relaxation mechanism via the internal conversion process.  相似文献

This is a report on the spectroscopic characteristics of UO2+2in the excited state in Triton X-100 micellar medium. It also indicates some important results of viscosity and surface tension measurements of the system which have direct relevance to the spectroscopic investigation in the excited state. The quenching of the UO2+2fluorescence due to Triton X-100, upon micellization in the aqueous medium, reveals two kinds of microenvironments of the fluorophore from the Stern–Volmer plot. This has been verified by flash photolytic measurements. A blue shift of the quenched emission spectrum is ascribed to the collisional encounter of UO2+2with the head groups of Triton X-100.  相似文献

The effect of micellar environment on the excited state proton transfer (ESPT) of 2-(2'-pyridyl)benzimidazole (2PBI) has been investigated by steady state and time resolved fluorescence spectroscopy. The ESPT, which occurs to a rather small extent at pH 7, is found to be enhanced remarkably at the interface of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) micelles and water. Such an enhancement is not observed for the cationic cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) or neutral Triton X-100 micelles. This selective enhancement is explained in the light of a modification of pK(a) and a more acidic local pH in the micelle-water interface. A rise time of about 890 ps is observed in the region of tautomer emission. The origin of this rise time is explored, considering three factors, namely, diffusion controlled protonation of the normal form of 2PBI, slow and possibly incomplete solvation of the transition state, leading to a slowing down of the proton transfer process and a similar slow dynamics of the tautomeric excited state.  相似文献

The kinetics of the photolysis of substituted 1,2-dihydroquinolines (DHQ) in micellar solutions was studied by steady-state and flash photolysis. The photolysis mechanism depends dramatically on the location of DHQ molecules in micelles, which is governed by the surfactant nature. In micellar solutions of the anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), where the DHQ molecules are located in the Stern layer, the intermediate species decay kinetics follows a first-order law. When DHQ is in neutral form (pH 4–12), the rate constant of the intermediate carbocation decay increases from 25 to 198 s?1 with an increasing concentration of DHQ in micelles. The positive micellar catalysis is caused by the acceleration of the final product formation with the DHQ molecule via proton abstraction from the intermediate cation. The formation of several types of intermediate species—carbocations in the aqueous phase and aminyl radicals in micelles—is observed in micellar solutions of the cationic surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) due to the preferential location of DHQ molecules in the micellar core. The carbocation decays via a pseudofirst-order reaction with a rate constant close to that in the aqueous solution. The lifetime of the DHQ aminyl radicals in the micellar solutions is longer by several orders of magnitude than the lifetime observed for homogeneous solutions of hydrocarbons and alcohols.  相似文献

The fluorescence characteristics of 2-methyl naphthalene have been studied in ionic micelles of sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) and cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) and in nonionic micellar medium of p-t-octylphenyl polyethoxyethanol (Triton X-100). The fluorescence quenching of fluorophore by halides and pseudohalide obeys the Stern-Volmer Equation up to a certain concentration of quencher. A quenching sphere of action model has been considered to explain the deviations from Stern-Volmer behaviour. The distribution of quenchers in the micellar phase has been calculated.  相似文献

The micellar catalytic model (or the consecutive first order reaction has been proposed in this paper. It was applied to the alkaline hydrolysis of dimethyl phthalate in micellar solutions of surfactants (CTAB, SDS and Triton X-100), and the alkaline hydrolysis of bis (2,4-dinitrophenyl) posphate in CTAB micellar solution. Rate constants obtained in micellar phase indicate that the two steps of alkaline hydrolysis of dimethyl phthalate are both inhibited by all of the surfactants investigated. CTAB micelle exhibits a greater catalytic effect on the alkaline hydrolysis of bis (2, 4-dinitrophenyl) phosphate. this may be arised from the local concentration effect of hydroxide ion in CTAB micellar phase. Nevertheless. the second order rate constant of bis-(2, 4-dinitrophenyl) phosphate in the micellar phase is smaller than that in the bulk phase.  相似文献

Abstract

Surfactant solutions of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and Triton X-100, have been studied for their utility as media for electroanalytical measurements. Each medium possesses a wide potential window with low background currents within which electrochemical measurements can be conducted. the potential windows at a glassy carbon electrode are +1.2 to -1.6 V for 0.1 M TEAP/SDS, 0.1 M NaCl/0.1 M SDS and 0.1 M NaCl/1.2% Triton X-100, and +0.6 to -1.6 V for 0.1 M NaCl/32 mM CTAB (V vs. Ag/AgCl (3M NaCl)). the M(II/I) redox couples of [ReCdmpe)3]2+/+ and [Tc(dmpe)3]2+/+ were used as electrochemical probes of each surfactant medium. Results are discussed In terms of the solubilization and interaction of the complexes with the micellar environment. Several factors are described which affect the general shape of the voltammograms as well as the observed values of Eo'; these include (i) the structure of the micelle as influenced by the supporting electrolyte, (ii) the electrostatic affinity of the probe complex for the micellar environment and (iii) the solubilization of each component of the redox couple in the micelle.  相似文献

Fluorescent characteristics of 2-naphthol were studied in aqueous solution and in micellar solutions of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), hexadecyl-trimethylammonium bromide (HDTB), and Triton X-100. The effect of cationic [cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB), Zephiramine], non-ionic (Triton X-100, Brij-35) and anionic (sodium lauryl sulphate) surfactant micelles on the fluorescence intensity of the zinc 5,7-dichloro-2-methylquinolin-8-ol chelate is described. In Brij-35 or CTAB micellar media, the fluorescence is about 25 times greater than that obtained in ethanol-water. The relationship between fluorescence intensity and experimental variables was studied in order to develop a procedure for the fluorimetric determination of zinc. Linear calibration graphs were obtained in the ranges 3–100 and 50–400 ng Zn ml?1. The detection limit is 3 ng ml?1. The method was successfully applied to the determination of zinc in food samples and drinking waters.  相似文献

The spectral and redox behavior of bis(diimine)copper(II) complexes, where diimine is bipyridine, 1,10-phenanthroline, 4-methyl-1,10-phenanthroline, 5-methyl-1,10-phenanthroline, 5-nitro-1,10-phenanthroline, 4,7-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline, 5,6-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline, 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline, 3,4,7,8-tetramethyl-1,10-phenanthroline and dipyrido-[3,2-d:2',3'-f]-quinoxaline, are significantly different in aqueous and in aqueous SDS, CTAB and Triton X-100 micellar solutions. The (1)H NMR spectral study in aqueous (D(2)O) and aqueous micelles reveals that the Cu(II) complexes interact more strongly with SDS than with CTAB and Triton X-100 micelles and at sites on SDS micelles different from those on the latter. Ligand Field spectral studies reveal that the complexes exist as the dicationic aquated species [Cu(diimine)(2)(H(2)O)(2)](2+), which interacts strongly with the anionic SDS micelles through columbic forces. However, they exist as [Cu(diimine)(2)(H(2)O)Cl](+) and/or [Cu(diimine)(2)H(2)] located in the hydrophobic microenvironments in Triton X-100 and CTAB micelles. The attainment of reversibility of the redox systems in the micellar microenvironments is remarkable and this illustrates that the Cu(II) and Cu(I) species undergo stereochemical changes suitable for reversible electron-transfer. The remarkable differences in spectral and electrochemical properties of Cu(II) complexes in aqueous and aqueous micellar solutions illustrate that the complexes are nestled largely within the micellar environments and imply that the accessibilities of the complexes to electron-transfer are different and are dependent on the nature of micelles as well as the nature and hydrophobicity of the diimine ligands.  相似文献

The photophysical behavior of 3-pyrazolyl-2-pyrazoline derivative (PZ), a newly synthesized biologically active compound has been studied in micellar solutions of anionic sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), cationic cetyl trimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and nonionic p- tert-octylphenoxy polyoxyethanol (Triton X-100, TX-100) micelle using steady state and time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy technique. Influence of the micelles on the photophysics of PZ has also been investigated using different approaches. The location of the fluorophore PZ in the micelle has been identified by cetyl pyridinium chloride (CpCl) induced fluorescence quenching and micropolarity surrounding that fluorophore in micellar solution. The effect of urea on the steady state fluorescence and relaxation dynamics of the micelle bound probe has also been observed. The results have been interpreted in terms of the model that urea displaces water molecules from the micellar interface and the consequent destabilization leads to the expulsion of the probe molecules from the interfacial region. An attempt has been made to determine probe sensing microviscosities for these micellar microenvironments in the light of average reorientation times of the probe PZ.  相似文献

以N-异丙基丙烯酰胺(NIPA)和N,N-双烯丙基苄胺(DiAB)为共聚单体、N,N-亚甲基双丙烯酰胺(BIS)为交联剂、十二烷基硫酸钠(SDS)为表面活性剂、过硫酸铵(APS)-四甲基乙二胺(TMEDA)为氧化还原引发体系,采用自由胶束交联共聚法合成了疏水基团为芳香基的疏水改性温敏性智能水凝胶P(NIPA-co-DiAB)。研究了DiAB摩尔分数(x(DiAB))对水凝胶溶胀性能的影响。 在初始溶胀阶段,随着x(DiAB)由0增大至3%,P(NIPA-co-DiAB)水凝胶的溶胀行为由Fickian扩散转变为non-Fickian扩散。x(DiAB)分别为0、1%、2%和3%时,P(NIPA-co-DiAB)水凝胶的平衡溶胀率SR0在蒸馏水中分别为63.6、93.5、141.6和167.4,在0.01 mol/L SDS溶液中分别为63.1、71.0、59.0和77.5,在CTAB溶液中分别为37.6、42.2、44.1和60.0,在Triton X-100溶液中分别为30.9、49.4、68.5和88.3。 结果表明,P(NIPA-co-DiAB)水凝胶的(SR0)大于PNIPA水凝胶,且在蒸馏中比在0.01 mol/L表面活性剂溶液中要大。 加入0.01 mol/L Triton X-100、CTAB或SDS后,PNIPA水凝胶的体积相变温度或较低临界溶解温度(LCST)由32.5 ℃分别增加至35.4、45.6和80 ℃。P(NIPA-co-DiAB)水凝胶的LCST由32.0~32.5 ℃分别增加至34.7~35.6 ℃、45.8~46.2 ℃和80 ℃。 加入表面活性剂能增加P(NIPA-co-DiAB)水凝胶的体积相变温度,高的体积相变温度与DiAB含量无关。  相似文献

1H NMR spin–lattice and spin–spin relaxation of different types (cationic cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide, anionic sodium dodecyl sulfonate and nonionic Triton X-100) of surfactants in water solution were studied. Simulation of the decay curves of proton relaxation shows that the spin lattice relaxation of all the samples exhibits exponentially, while the spin–spin relaxation for several protons on the hydrophobic chains forming the micellar core is bi-exponential. The fast relaxing component is attributed to the part of the segments of the hydrophobic chain, situated near or on the surface of the micellar core, while the slower relaxing component is attributed to the rest part staying in the interior. The latter exchanges with the former in equilibrium. Thus, a part of each certain segment of the hydrophobic chain has an opportunity to stay in the surface layer of the micellar core and spend some time on the interface experiencing hydrophilic environment. Generally, the protons on the methylene carbon of the hydrophobic chain nearest to the polar head have more chance to spend time in the hydrophilic environment. However, it seems to be dependent on the chemical structure of the surfactant molecule. Large size of the polar group of CTAB shows steric hindrance on the packing of the hydrophobic chain. Quantitative results are given. The fact, that the fraction of slow relaxing protons on the hydrophilic ethylene oxide long chain of Triton X-100 dominates over that of fast relaxing protons, and that their T 2 values are larger than those of the protons on the hydrocarbon chain in the interior of the micellar core, suggests that the ethylene oxide chain does not participate in the formation of the micellar core. The effects of cetyltrimethylammonium (CTAB), sodiumdodecylsulfate (SDS) and pol(oxyethylene)(9.5)p-(1,1,3,3-tetramethyl; Triton X-100) on the dissociation constants, transition points and transition intervals of thymol blue and bromothymol blue were studied. The experimental results indicated that surfactant micelles remarkably affected dissociation constants, transition points and transition intervals of the acid-base indicators, and the application ranges of acid-base indicators became wider and the titration accuracy increased when an appropriate surfactant micellar solution was chosen as a titration medium.  相似文献

The interaction of methyl violet, a cationic dye, with various surfactants, viz. anionic (SDS), nonionic (Triton X-100), and cationic (CTAB), has been investigated spectrophotometrically in submicellar and micellar concentration range. While in the submicellar concentration region of SDS the higher aggregates of the dye are found, in the micellar concentration region the monomer of the dye predominates. With nonionic surfactant the dye is solubilized primarily as the monomer. CTAB produces no perturbation to the visible spectra of the dye. In the presence of strong electrolytes such as NaNO(3) and NaCl the dye aggregates are formed at a much lower SDS concentrations. Copyright 2000 Academic Press.  相似文献

The stopped-flow technique has been used to study the effect of cationic (CTAN), nonionic (Triton X-100), andanionic (SDS) micelles on the rate of the reaction between nickel(II) ion and the ligand pyridine-2-azo-p-dimethylaniline (PADA) at 20.0°C and ionic strength 0.03 mol dm?3. The complex formation reaction is markedly inhibited by both CTAN and Triton X-100 micelles. The kinetic dataare found to conform to a reaction mechanism which implies only partitioning of the ligand between water and the micellar phase, the estimated bindingconstant of PADA being significantly larger in the presence of CTAN aggregates. Anionic micelles strongly speed the complexation reaction, Which occurs in the micellar phase with the same rate and the same mechanism as in water. The extent of binding of PADA to anionic micelles is similar to that found for the cationic micellar aggregates.  相似文献

The diffusion coefficient of the micelle, the first CMC and the second CMC of Triton X-100 are determined by cyclic voltammetry without any probe. The first CMC and the second CMC of Triton X-100 are 3.1x lO?1 and 1.3× 10?1 respectively. The viscosity of the micelle solution, the micellar aggregation number and the micellar size increase but the diffusion coefficient decreases with Triton X-100 concentration increasing. The mechanism of the electrochemical reaction of Triton X-100 at platinum electrode is deduced by measurements of conductivity, pH and cyclic voltammetry.  相似文献

The photophysical and photochemical behavior of poly(p-phenylinevinylene (PPV) polymers in different solvents (toluene and Triton X-100) and in thin form [PPV/optical transparent electrode (OTE)] has been investigated by emission and transient absorption spectroscopies. The absorption and emission studies strongly indicate the presence of dynamic quenching for PPV polymers in different solvents (toluene and Triton X-100) in the presence of LiI/I2. The fluorescence quenching of the PPV polymer by iodide obeys the linear Stern–Volmer equation for PPV/toluene/LiI system. The positive deviation from Stern–Volmer observed in PPV/Triton X-100/I2 system may be accounted for by the “quenching sphere of action model”. Emission studies indicated an increased conjugation length for PPV polymers on going from solution to the solid state. The emission of PPV was readily quenched by hole scavengers such as I (LiI, I2). The photoinduced charge transfer to these hole scavengers was studied by laser flash photolysis. The transient absorption measurements confirm the formation of I and subsequent formation of which has been reported for the first time for PPV/I2 system.  相似文献
