Double-differential cross sections of the 208Pb(n,p) reaction have been measured at 97 MeV in the angular range 0°–30° for excitation energies up to 40 MeV. The experimental proton spectra have been compared with calculated spectra obtained with a statistical multistep direct reaction theory, in which charge exchange and inelastic response functions are described microscopically in the quasiparticle random phase approximation. The direct parts of the spectra have also been distributed on different multipole components by using a decomposition technique, based on sample angular distributions calculated within the distorted-wave Born approximation.  相似文献

The excitation and subsequent proton decay of the isovector spin-flip giant monopole resonance (IVSGMR) is studied via the 208Pb(3He,t) reaction at 410 MeV. Earlier data on the 208Pb(n,p)208Ti reaction at 198 MeV has been analysed using the multipole decomposition technique, and the contributions to the spectra from L = 0 and 1 transitions determined. The L = 0 cross section has been found to be smaller than values given by the calculations of MacFarlane [3] for Gamow-Teller transitions, using three different forms for the population of single particle states about the Fermi energy. Comparison is made with GT-strength values obtained from a more recent mean field calculation of these populations, and with an older nuclear structure calculation of properties of the lead nuclei. The L = 1 strength distribution is also reported.  相似文献

The cross sections for the reactions 208Pb(p, pn)207mPb, 208Pb(p, p2n)206mPb have been measured for 24, 28, 36, 44 and 52 MeV incident protons. The experimental results are shown to be consistent with the clean knockout mechanism for the (p, pn) reaction and with knockout of one neutron followed by evaporation of another for the (p, p2n) reaction. We deduce a theoretical formula for the cross section for these reactions.  相似文献

The total photoneutron cross section of208Pb was measured between 8 and 13 MeV using the bremsstrahlung photon facility from a 35 MeV linac. Considerable resonance structure was observed in the cross section, of which the peak around 9 MeV, as well as the structure around 10.8 MeV may be due toE2 excitations.  相似文献

The (p, α) reaction was studied on a208Pb target at 16.475 MeV. Nineteen states were observed in205Tl, up to 3.6 MeV in excitation. Angular distributions were obtained for five strong proton-hole transitions, and DWBA fits made to determinelj values. Results are compared with previous206Pb(t, α)205Tl,206Pb(d,3He)205Tl,205Tl(p, p′), and205Tl(n, n′) work.  相似文献

The decay of the isoscalar giant monopole resonance (GMR) in 208Pb has been studied with the 208Pb(α, α'n)207Pb reaction at θα = 0°. Comparison of the experimental data with detailed statistical model calculations shows a good overall agreement for the decay of both the GMR and the underlying continuum. Interpreting small discrepancies between the calculations and data for the GMR as indications for the presence of pre-equilibrium decay we find a direct decay branch of the GMR ⩽ 10% and a pre-equilibrium decay branch ⩽ 30%.  相似文献

Gamma rays in the disintegration of208Tl(ThC″) have been studied with Ge(Li)-Na I(Tl) anti-Compton and coincidence spectrometers. Several new transitions are reported most of which are placed in a decay scheme incorporating excited states in208Pb at 2,614.5, 3,197.6, 3,475.0, 3,708.3, 3,919.8, 3,960.9, 3,998.5, 4,125.3, 4,180.4, 4,296.1 and 4,480.0 keV. According to the present data, the recently reported intensity of 4.5±1.5% of beta groups feeding levels near 4.3 MeV is far too large.  相似文献

Elastic scattering of 7, 9, 11, 20 and 26 MeV neutrons from 208Pb has been measured with the Ohio University Tandem Van de Graaff accelerator. Standard pulsed beam time-of-flight techniques were employed. Measurements of the incident flux at 0° were used to normalize the differential cross sections. The measured cross sections were corrected for dead time, detector efficiency, flux attenuation, multiple scattering, finite geometry, neutron source anisotropy and compound elastic contribution. Relative uncertainties are estimated to be between 5%–10% and the uncertainty in the normalization is estimated to be less than 5 %. The data were used to obtain neutron optical potential parameters. A comparison with proton optical parameters is presented, and the (p, n) quasi-elastic cross section is calculated and compared with available data. Deformation parameters for the 3? state (Q = ?2.615 MeV) and 5ā (Q = ?3.198 MeV) in 208Pb were obtained at incident energies of 11 and 26 MeV.  相似文献

The emission probabilities for quasimolecular K-x-radiation (K-MOR) have been measured in208Pb +208Pb collisions at 4.3 MeV/u and 4.8 MeV/u as a function of the scattering angle using the particle-photon-coincidence technique. The probabilities exhibit a superposition of two exponential slopes with different fall-off constants. We identify the sharp fall off at very small impact parameters (<60 fm) with the K-MOR contribution from the decay of 1-vacancies. The flatter slope for impact parameters larger than 60 fm is attributed to the radiative decay of holes in 2p 1/2 σ molecular states. In this way, experimental “1-MOR-emission probabilities” could be extracted and compared with theory. For 4.3 MeV/u the1sσ- and 2p 1/2 σ-excitation probabilities could also be determined and have been compared to coupled-channel calculations and to a scaling law for 1 excitation.  相似文献

We present results of the first calculation of the double differential cross section for the 208Pb(8B,(7)Bep)208Pb Coulomb breakup reaction which treats the postdecay acceleration of the ejectiles within a genuine three-body approach. From this we conclude that, in order to minimize postdecay Coulomb acceleration effects, experiments should be performed at as small as possible scattering angles, not too low 7Be-p relative energies, and high incident energy.  相似文献

New experimental data has been obtained for the208Pb(α, α′) reaction induced by 160 MeV alpha particles, for inelastic scattering to forward angles. We use these data to investigate the applicability of the multistep scattering theory of Feshbach, Kerman, and Koonin for describing this reaction. The mechanism we study, following the work of Gadioli et al. [1], is of the incident alpha particle remaining intact throughout the scattering process, exciting nucleon particle-hole pairs through multistep process. We conclude that this mechanism, combined with compound nucleus decay at low emission energies, can account for much of the observed data. However, there are indications that other processes also contribute at energies above the compound nucleus emission regime, and we outline future theoretical analyses that are needed.  相似文献

Three-particle correlations in the reaction208Pb+6Li were studied near the Coulomb threshold between \(E_{6_{Li} } = 24\) and 30 MeV. Three reaction mechanisms contribute predominantly to the observed coincidences of the charged particles: 1. Coulomb excitation of the 2.184 MeV,J=3+ state of6Li, followed by the decay intoα+d, 2. Deuteron pick-up of the6Li to the ground state of8Be and sequential decay into twoα-particles and 3. Neutron-transfer to the ground state and the first excited states of209Pb:208Pb(6Li,αp). The last two reaction mechanisms explain the previously measured large contributions to theα-channel relative to thed-channel.  相似文献

The reactions208Pb(d, d)208Pb and208Pb(d, p)209Pb have been studied in the energy region from below to above the Coulomb barrier. An optical-model analysis of the elastic scattering results has been performed to obtain parameters for a DWBA analysis. Distorted wave calculations for the direct transitions leading to single-particle states in209Pb have been used to extract spectroscopic factors. Only two deuteron potential sets give a good account of the stripping data throughout the energy region studied.  相似文献

中高能质子入射重金属靶产生散裂中子是加速器驱动洁净核能系统的一个关键部分.利用量子分子动力学(QMD)模型研究入射质子能量在300MeV—1.5GeV,散裂靶为208Pb的(p,xn)核反应的双微分截面,QMD计算结果很好再现了实验数据,且QMD的计算结果明显优于HETC和LAHET.QMD在较宽的能区和核区满足加速器驱动洁净核能系统散裂靶物理计算的要求.  相似文献

The neutron-capture conversion-electron spectrum of the207Pb (n, e)208Pb reaction has been measured between 2 and 7.5 MeV. Only the weakK-line from the 7,368 keV transition has been observed. The upper intensity limits for conversion electron lines have been estimated to be 5 · 10?4 per capture between 4 and 5 MeV. Experiments on the synthesis and identification of the nuclei 272111 and 277112 were performed in order to confirm previous results. Three additional decay chains were measured in the reaction 64Ni + 209Bi →273111*. The study revealed considerably improved data on the decay chain originating from 272111. One additional chain was measured in the reaction 70Zn + 208Pb →278112*. The decay properties of the chain starting at 277112 are in excellent agreement with the second chain of the first experiment down to 265Sg, where the new chain ends by a previously unknown spontaneous-fission branch. A re-analysis of all the data on elements 110, 111, and 112 measured at GSI since 1994 (a total of 34 decay chains was investigated) revealed that for 2 chains (the second chain of 269110 measured in 1994 and the first chain of 277112 measured in 1996) the results of the new analysis differed from the previous one. Angular distribution measurements of proton polarization in the 208Pb(d, p)209Pb reaction to the ground g9/2 state were made at an incident deuteron energy of 20 MeV using a high efficiency proton polarimeter. Distorted wave Born approximation analysis and continuum discretized coupled channel analysis were performed on the data and compared with measurements of the angular distribution of the vector analyzing power for the same reaction. The result of the calculations predict that the angular distribution of the vector analyzing power should be similar to that of the polarization. However, the experimental data gives different angular distributions. The measured vector analyzing power is well reproduced by the calculations, while the polarization is not well reproduced.  相似文献
