X-ray photon-correlation spectroscopy is used to measure the dynamic structure factor f(q,tau) of gold particles moving on the surface of thin polymer films. Above the glass transition of the polymer the peculiar form f(q,tau) approximately exp[-(Gamma tau)(alpha)] is found with 0.7 < alpha < 1.5, depending on sample age and temperature. The relaxation rates Gamma scale linearly with q, excluding a simple Brownian diffusive motion. This type of behavior, already observed in aging bulk soft matter systems, is explained by a power law distribution of particle velocities due to ballistic motion.  相似文献

X-ray photon correlation spectroscopy was used in conjunction with resonance-enhanced grazing-incidence small-angle x-ray scattering to probe slow particle dynamics and kinetics in gold/polystyrene nanocomposite thin films. Such enhanced coherent scattering enables, for the first time, measurement of the particle dynamics at wave vectors up to approximately 1 nm(-1) (or a few nanometers spatially) in a disordered system, well in the regime where entanglement, confinement, and particle interaction dominate the dynamics and kinetics. Measurements of the intermediate structure factor f(q,t) indicate that the particle dynamics differ from Stokes-Einstein Brownian motion and are explained in terms of viscoelastic effects and interparticle interactions.  相似文献

We use multispeckle dynamic light scattering to measure the dynamic structure factor, f(q,tau), of gels formed by aggregation of colloids. Although the gel is an elastic solid, f(q,tau) nearly completely decays on long time scales, with an unusual form, f(q, tau) approximately exp{-(tau/tau(f))(mu)}, with mu approximately 1.5 and with tau(f) proportional variant q(-1). A model for restructuring of the gel with aging correctly accounts for this behavior. Aging leads to a dramatic increase in tau(f); however, all data can be scaled on a single master curve, with tau(f) asymptotically growing linearly with age. This behavior is strikingly similar to that predicted for aging in disordered glassy systems, offering convincing proof of the universality of these concepts.  相似文献

We study the Kolmogorov-Johnson-Mehl-Avrami theory of phase conversion in finite volumes. For the conversion time we find the relationship tau(con)=tau(nu)[1+f(d)(q)]. Here d is the space dimension, tau(nu) the nucleation time in the volume V, and f(d)(q) a scaling function. Its dimensionless argument is q=tau(ex)/tau(nu), where tau(ex) is an expansion time, defined to be proportional to the diameter of the volume divided by expansion speed. We calculate f(d)(q) in one, two, and three dimensions. The often considered limits of phase conversion via either nucleation or spinodal decomposition are found to be volume-size dependent concepts, governed by simple power laws for f(d)(q).  相似文献

We fitted C(k,tau,epsilon) proportional to exp([-sigma(k,epsilon)tau] to time-correlation functions C(k,tau,epsilon) of structure factors S(k,t,epsilon) of shadowgraph images of fluctuations below a supercritical bifurcation at V(0)=V(c) to electroconvection of a planar nematic liquid crystal in the presence of a voltage V=sqrt[2]V(0)cos((2pift) [k=(p,q) is the wave vector and epsilon identical with V(2)(0)/V(2)(c)-1]. There were stationary oblique (normal) rolls at small (large) f. Fits of a modified Swift-Hohenberg form to sigma(k,epsilon) gave f-dependent critical behavior for the minimum decay rates sigma(0)(epsilon) and the correlation lengths xi(p,q)(epsilon).  相似文献

The spreading of liquid nanodroplets of different initial radii R0 is studied using molecular dynamics simulation. Results for two distinct systems, Pb on Cu(111), which is nonwetting, and a coarse-grained polymer model, which wets the surface, are presented for Pb droplets ranging in size from approximately 55,000 to 220,000 atoms and polymer droplets ranging in size from approximately 200,000 to 780 000 monomers. In both cases, a precursor foot precedes the spreading of the main droplet. This precursor foot spreads as r(2)(f)(t) = 2D(eff)t with an effective diffusion constant that exhibits a droplet-size dependence D(eff) approximately R(1/2)(0). The radius of the main droplet r(b)(t) approximately R(4/5)(0) is in agreement with kinetic models for the cylindrical geometry studied.  相似文献

By applying one- and two-dimensional 109Ag NMR, we demonstrate that silver diffusion in silver iodide/silver phosphate glasses is governed by a very broad, continuous distribution of correlation times G(lg tau). As a consequence, over a wide temperature range, the 109Ag NMR spectra can be described by a weighted superposition of a Gaussian and a Lorentzian where these line-shape components result from the slow and the fast silver ions in G(lg tau), respectively. For the 109Ag NMR two-time correlation functions F2(t), measured as a stimulated echo, a very stretched decay to F2SS(t(m)) = 0 is observed. When fitting to a Kohlrausch function, exp[-(t/tau)beta], a stretching parameter beta approximately = 0.2 is found. The temperature dependence of the mean correlation time of silver dynamics is described by an Arrhenius law where the activation energy is consistent with the one reported for the dc conductivity sigma(dc). In addition, it is shown that the effect of complex dynamical processes on NMR multi-time correlation functions can easily be calculated when performing random-walk simulations for schematic models such as the random-barrier model and the random-energy model. Based on these models it is possible to simulate various NMR observables and the mean square displacement, thus revealing the information content of multi-dimensional NMR experiments on solid ion conductors.  相似文献

We identify a border between regular and chaotic quantum dynamics. The border is characterized by a power-law decrease in the overlap between a state evolved under chaotic dynamics and the same state evolved under a slightly perturbed dynamics. For example, the overlap decay for the quantum kicked top is well fitted with [1+(q-1)(t/tau)2](1/(1-q)) (with the nonextensive entropic index q and tau depending on perturbation strength) in the region preceding the emergence of quantum interference effects. This region corresponds to the edge of chaos for the classical map from which the quantum chaotic dynamics is derived.  相似文献

We show that the defect density n, for a slow nonlinear power-law quench with a rate tau(-1) and an exponent alpha>0, which takes the system through a critical point characterized by correlation length and dynamical critical exponents nu and z, scales as n approximately tau(-alphanud/(alphaznu+1)) [n approximately (alphag((alpha-1)/alpha)/tau)(nud/(znu+1))] if the quench takes the system across the critical point at time t=0 [t=t(0) not = 0], where g is a nonuniversal constant and d is the system dimension. These scaling laws constitute the first theoretical results for defect production in nonlinear quenches across quantum critical points and reproduce their well-known counterpart for a linear quench (alpha=1) as a special case. We supplement our results with numerical studies of well-known models and suggest experiments to test our theory.  相似文献

A model of random walks on a deformable medium is proposed in 2+1 dimensions. The behavior of the walk is characterized by the stability parameter beta and the stiffness exponent alpha. The average square end-to-end distance l approximately equals (2nu) and the average number of visited sites approximately equals (k) are calculated. As beta increases, for each alpha there exists a critical transition point beta(c) from purely random walks ( nu = 1/2 and k approximate to 1) to compact growth ( nu = 1/3 and k = 2/3). The relationship between beta(c) and alpha can be expressed as beta(c) = e(alpha). The landscape generated by a walk is also investigated by means of the visit-number distribution N(n)(beta). There exists a scaling relationship of the form N(n)(beta)approximately n(-2)f(n/beta(z)).  相似文献

A parametric method for spatially resolved measurements for velocity autocorrelation functions, R(u)(tau) = , expressed as a sum of exponentials, is presented. The method is applied to a granular flow system of 2-mm oil-filled spheres rotated in a half-filled horizontal cylinder, which is an Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process with velocity autocorrelation function R(u)(tau) = e(- ||tau ||/tau(c)), where tau(c) is the correlation time and D = tau(c) is the diffusion coefficient. The pulsed-field-gradient NMR method consists of applying three different gradient pulse sequences of varying motion sensitivity to distinguish the range of correlation times present for particle motion. Time-dependent apparent diffusion coefficients are measured for these three sequences and tau(c) and D are then calculated from the apparent diffusion coefficient images. For the cylinder rotation rate of 2.3 rad/s, the axial diffusion coefficient at the top center of the free surface was 5.5 x 10(-6) m(2)/s, the correlation time was 3 ms, and the velocity fluctuation or granular temperature was 1.8 x 10(-3) m(2)/s(2). This method is also applicable to study transport in systems involving turbulence and porous media flows.  相似文献

Using a Monte Carlo simulation, the growth and roughness characteristics of polymer surfaces are studied in 2+1 dimensions. Kink-jump and reptation dynamics are used to move polymer chains under a driving field where they deposit onto an impenetrable attractive wall. Effects of field (E), chain length (L(c)), and the substrate size (L) on the growing surfaces are studied. In low field, the interface width (W) shows a crossover from one power-law growth in time (W approximately t(beta(1))) to another (W approximately t(beta(2))), before reaching its asymptotic value (W(s)), with beta(1)( approximately 0.5+/-0.1)相似文献

We consider nonequilibrium probabilistic dynamics in logisticlike maps x(t+1)=1-a|x(t)|(z), (z>1) at their chaos threshold: We first introduce many initial conditions within one among W>1 intervals partitioning the phase space and focus on the unique value q(sen)<1 for which the entropic form S(q) identical with (1- summation operator Wp(q)(i))/(q-1) linearly increases with time. We then verify that S(q(sen))(t)-S(q(sen))( infinity ) vanishes like t(-1/[q(rel)(W)-1]) [q(rel)(W)>1]. We finally exhibit a new finite-size scaling, q(rel)( infinity )-q(rel)(W) proportional, variant W(-|q(sen)|). This establishes quantitatively, for the first time, a long pursued relation between sensitivity to the initial conditions and relaxation, concepts which play central roles in nonextensive statistical mechanics.  相似文献

The model of growing networks with the preferential attachment of new links is generalized to include initial attractiveness of sites. We find the exact form of the stationary distribution of the number of incoming links of sites in the limit of long times, P(q), and the long-time limit of the average connectivity q(s,t) of a site s at time t (one site is added per unit of time). At long times, P(q) approximately q(-gamma) at q-->infinity and q(s,t) approximately (s/t)(-beta) at s/t-->0, where the exponent gamma varies from 2 to infinity depending on the initial attractiveness of sites. We show that the relation beta(gamma-1) = 1 between the exponents is universal.  相似文献

We present measurements of the Lambda(0)(b) lifetime in the exclusive decay channel Lambda(0)(b)--> J/psiLambda(0), with J/psi--> mu(+)mu(-) and Lambda(0)--> ppi(-), the B0 lifetime in the decay B0-->J/psiK(0)(S) with J/psi--> mu(+)mu(-) and K(0)(S)-->pi(+)pi(-), and the ratio of these lifetimes. The analysis is based on approximately 250 pb(-1) of data recorded with the D0 detector in pp collisions at sqrt[s] = 1.96 TeV. The Lambda(0)(b) lifetime is determined to be tau(Lambda(0)(b)) = 1.22(+0.22)(-0.18)(stat) +/- 0.04(syst) ps, the B0 lifetime tau(B0) = 1.40(+0.11)(-0.10)(stat) +/- 0.03(syst) ps, and the ratio tau(Lambda(0)(b))/tau(B0) = 0.87(+0.17)(-0.14)(stat) +/- 0.03(syst). In contrast with previous measurements using semileptonic decays, this is the first determination of the Lambda(0)(b) lifetime based on a fully reconstructed decay channel.  相似文献

ac noise in disordered conductors causes both dephasing of the electron wave functions and a dc current around a mesoscopic ring. We demonstrate that the dephasing rate tau(-1)(varphi) in long wires and the dc current , induced by the same noise and averaged over an ensemble of small rings, are connected in a remarkably simple way: tau(varphi) = C(beta)e. Here e is an electron charge, and the constant C(beta) approximately 1 depends on the Dyson symmetry class. The relationship seems to agree reasonably with experiments. This suggests that the two puzzles, anomalously large persistent current and the low-temperature saturation of the dephasing, may have a common solution.  相似文献

An analytical solution is given for amplitudes and phases of adiabatic decoupling sidebands as a function of spin inversion time tau. Since all the adiabatic decoupling phases theta(t, tau) refocus at two periods (2T) of the decoupling pulse, the sidebands are located at n/2T rather than at n/T as observed in other decoupling schemes. The real (R(n)(tau)) and imaginary (I(n)(tau)) amplitudes of the sidebands have symmetry R(n)(tau) = R(-n)(tau) and I(n)(tau) = -I(-n)(tau), forming a mirror image between the counterparts of the sidebands. When frequency sweep changes direction all I(n)(tau) are inverted while all R(n)(tau) remain unchanged, leading to pure absorption sidebands with two accumulations as demonstrated by Kupce and Freeman, and to an exchange of sidebands between counterparts. The sum of the real parts for sidebands n = 1 and 2 is almost a constant near on-resonance decoupling, and it increases substantially for large decoupling offsets. The phase defocusing can be minimized for all decoupling offsets by inserting an initial decoupling period with T(ini) = T/2, eliminating all sidebands located at n/2T (n = +/-1, +/-3, +/-5, ...).  相似文献

The dependence of binaural loudness summation on interaural phase of tones ranging between 250 and 1400 Hz was investigated in a series of experiments using a loudness-matching procedure. Observers matched loudness of monaural-binaural and binaural-binaural pairs of alternating tones by adjusting the amplitude of one of the two. Adjustable and reference components of each tone pair were equal in frequency and were varied independently in interaural phase angle through the range +/- 177 degrees. For each tone frequency, steps in loudness summation of approximately 3 dB were obtained in the vicinity of a constant value of phase angle, theta t, which depends on the Hornbostel-Wertheimer constant (tau H) according to the relations theta t = 2 pi f tau H for tones of low frequency (f less than or equal to 1/2 tau H), and theta t = 2 pi(1 - f tau H) for tones of higher frequency (1/2 tau H less than or equal to f less than or equal to 1/tau H). Spatial relationships among alternating tones observed in the above conditions covaried with relative loudness in a complex manner, but exhibited qualitative changes in the vicinity of theta t.  相似文献

Scaling of directed dynamical small-world networks with random responses   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
A dynamical model of small-world networks, with directed links which describe various correlations in social and natural phenomena, is presented. Random responses of sites to the input message are introduced to simulate real systems. The interplay of these ingredients results in the collective dynamical evolution of a spinlike variable S(t) of the whole network. The global average spreading length (s) and average spreading time (s) are found to scale as p(-alpha)ln(N with different exponents. Meanwhile, S(t) behaves in a duple scaling form for N>N(*): S approximately f(p(-beta)q(gamma)t), where p and q are rewiring and external parameters, alpha, beta, and gamma are scaling exponents, and f(t) is a universal function.
