独立学院数学课程体系的探索

为解决独立学院数学教学中能力强的学生"吃不饱",能力欠佳的学生"吃不消"的问题,提出了"基础+提高"统筹优化的数学课程体系."基础"模块的教学坚持为后续专业课服务,并穿插教书中"育人"理念;"提高"模块作为公共选修范畴,具有自主性、多元化特点,并突出人才培养的阶梯式发展.通过近5年的教学改革与实践,新课程体系有效地提高了学生学习数学的兴趣,降低了期末考试的不通过率,并造就一批有创新意识的人才.     

Mathematics,manifest: a review of Mathematics: the Winton Gallery at the Science Museum

Mathematics: the Winton Gallery strives, like any exhibition concerning mathematics, to make meaningful contact between the abstruse realms of mathematics and the viewing audience. Unlike many other exhibitions, this is here accomplished by displaying a rich range of objects that demonstrate the essential role of mathematics in the world by emphasizing connections to the viewers’ existing cognitive environments. Through a focus on the ways that mathematical work affects and informs our human world, the exhibition succeeds in connecting a mathematical way of thinking with the lives of the viewing public in a complex and profound way, in exchange for their efforts and attention. While an approach which places the interweave of life and mathematics at its centre may invite worries about the representation of pure mathematics or whether such a strategy insulates the viewer from an understanding of ‘real’ mathematics, what this exhibition does is to offer a sense of the mind-set that underscores mathematical work. By revealing the implications of this mode of thought, the exhibition encourages the audience to understand their own lives and world in a more mathematically-oriented way, while also encouraging them to understand mathematics in terms of the ways their human world is already formed.     

Mathematics teacher training at the State Technical University in Chile

During the fifties and sixties in Chile many mathematics graduates of Pedagogical Institutes became university instructors rather than high school teachers as intended. In the late sixties Masters level programmes began giving more advanced training for university mathematics instructors. A ‘modern’ mathematics curriculum including computer science was introduced in the high schools. The first significant attempt to adapt the training of Chilean high school mathematics teachers to the new academic and social realities was begun in 1976 at the State Technical University with the cooperation of Teachers College, Columbia University, and the support of the Organization of American States.

The four‐year programme leads to Licenciatura (Bachelors) in Mathematics and Computer Education. All courses are taught by faculty members of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. The three basic areas of instruction are mathematics, computer science, and mathematics education. Funds provided by the O.A.S. have helped to make possible the development of curricular materials in Spanish, and the acquisition of computing and video tape equipment.     

Using E-Exercise Bases in Mathematics: Case Studies at University

E-Exercise Bases (EEB) are now used in the teaching of mathematics, especially at university. We discuss here the consequences of their use on the students’ activity during computer lab sessions. Results stem from observations of several teaching designs organised in different French universities with three e-exercise bases. The analysis focuses on new tasks and on specific solving strategies, which appear using these resources. Moreover, specific didactic contract clauses are studied.     

Science and Mathematics Equity Issues at a Local School District Level

Many reports to the nation have revealed differences in the educational experiences of males and females. This is especially true in mathematics and science where females are not receiving the necessary educational background to develop the skills and understanding required to be citizens and employees in today's technological world. As a result, females are underrepresented in science, mathematics, and engineering professions. This study compares one school district's data with the data in national reports and then attempts to analyze what factors exist in the community and school district that reinforce and perpetuate inequitable situations for females. This study also provides a model for other school districts to conduct a self-study of gender equity education issues.     

Mathematics

We prove the existence of sign changing solutions of a semilinear elliptic eigenvalue problem with constraint by using variational methods. Among those three solutions we obtained, one is positive, one negative and one sign changing. We also prove the existence of multiple sign changing solutions under some additional condition.

高等数学与高中数学的衔接

从高中教材和高等数学教材的内容、高等数学和初等数学的思维模式、教师的教学方法、学生的学习方法四个方面分析学生在学习高等数学时感到困难的原因,并探讨在高等数学教学中,做好高等数学与高中数学衔接的五项具体措施：上好绪论课,帮助学生建立自主学习的观念;指导正确的学习方法,培养学生的自学能力;给出数学概念要循序渐进,注意知识的衔接;加强习题指导,加深学生对基本概念的理解;及时了解学生状况,有针对性地开展教育。     

以满足工业需求为导向的应用数学研讨会会议报告

<正>2017年7月14日,以"工业应用数学在中国及其他亚太地区:回顾与展望"为主题的为期一天的研讨会在上海交通大学陈瑞球楼204室成功举办。作为"第十四届国际自由边界问题理论及应用"会议的嵌入会议,本次研讨会旨在探讨如何深化中国学术界与工业界在数学领域的合作,同时也特别回顾了中国工业应用数学工作坊(math-for-industry)的创始人谭永基教授为中国工业应用数学的发展所做出的

问题是数学的心脏,问题是引导研究的,提出和发现数学问题是数学思维的起步.数学问题解决体现了数学思维的目的、过程和基本方法,是创造性的思维活动.问题解决作为教学方法,能体现知识的涵义和应用价值.
