We prove that there exists a Lipschitz function froml 1 into ℝ2 which is Gateaux-differentiable at every point and such that for everyx, y εl 1, the norm off′(x) −f′(y) is bigger than 1. On the other hand, for every Lipschitz and Gateaux-differentiable function from an arbitrary Banach spaceX into ℝ and for everyε > 0, there always exist two pointsx, y εX such that ‖f′(x) −f′(y)‖ is less thanε. We also construct, in every infinite dimensional separable Banach space, a real valued functionf onX, which is Gateaux-differentiable at every point, has bounded non-empty support, and with the properties thatf′ is norm to weak* continuous andf′(X) has an isolated pointa, and that necessarilya ε 0. Let E and F be Banach spaces, f: UEF be a map of C r (r ⩾ 1), x 0U, and ft (x 0) denote the FréLechet differential of f at x 0. Suppose that f′(x 0) is double split, Rank(f′(x 0)) = ∞, dimN(f′(x 0)) > 0 and codimR(f′(x 0)) s> 0. The rank theorem in advanced calculus asks to answer what properties of f ensure that f(x) is conjugate to f′(x 0) near x 0. We have proved that the conclusion of the theorem is equivalent to one kind of singularities for bounded linear operators, i.e., x 0 is a locally fine point for f′(x) or generalized regular point of f(x); so, a complete rank theorem in advanced calculus is established, i.e., a sufficient and necessary condition such that the conclusion of the theorem to be held is given.   相似文献

We use the barrier strip method to prove sufficient conditions for the global solvability of the initial value problem f(t, x, x′) = 0, x(0) = A, including the case in which the function (t, x, y) → f(t, x, y) has a singularity at x = A.  相似文献

An Application of a Mountain Pass Theorem   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
We are concerned with the following Dirichlet problem: −Δu(x) = f(x, u), x∈Ω, uH 1 0(Ω), (P) where f(x, t) ∈C (×ℝ), f(x, t)/t is nondecreasing in t∈ℝ and tends to an L -function q(x) uniformly in x∈Ω as t→ + ∞ (i.e., f(x, t) is asymptotically linear in t at infinity). In this case, an Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz-type condition, that is, for some θ > 2, M > 0, 0 > θF(x, s) ≤f(x, s)s, for all |s|≥M and x∈Ω, (AR) is no longer true, where F(x, s) = ∫ s 0 f(x, t)dt. As is well known, (AR) is an important technical condition in applying Mountain Pass Theorem. In this paper, without assuming (AR) we prove, by using a variant version of Mountain Pass Theorem, that problem (P) has a positive solution under suitable conditions on f(x, t) and q(x). Our methods also work for the case where f(x, t) is superlinear in t at infinity, i.e., q(x) ≡ +∞. Received June 24, 1998, Accepted January 14, 2000.  相似文献

An affine de Casteljau type algorithm to compute q-Bernstein Bézier curves is introduced and its intermediate points are obtained explicitly in two ways. Furthermore we define a tensor product patch, based on this algorithm, depending on two parameters. Degree elevation procedure is studied. The matrix representation of tensor product patch is given and we find the transformation matrix between a classical tensor product Bézier patch and a tensor product q-Bernstein Bézier patch. Finally, q-Bernstein polynomials B n,m (f;x,y) for a function f(x,y), (x,y)∈[0,1]×[0,1] are defined and fundamental properties are discussed. AMS subject classification (2000)  65D17  相似文献

Let {ϕn(x), n = 1, 2,...} be an arbitrary complete orthonormal system on the interval I:= [0, 1]which consists of a.e. bounded functions. Suppose that E 0I 2 is any Lebesgue measurable set such that μ2 E 0 > 0, and φ, φ(0) = 0, is an increasing continuous function on [0, ∞) with φ(u) = o(u ln u) as u → ∞. Then there exist a function f ∈ L1(I 2) and a set E 0 , ⊂ E 0, μ2 E 0 > 0, such that
and the sequence of double Cesàro means of Fourier series of f with respect to the system {ϕn(xm(y): n,m = 1, 2,...} is unbounded in the sense of Pringsheim (by rectangles) on E 0 . This statement gives critical integrability conditions for the Cesàro summability a.e. of Fourier series in the class of all complete orthonormal systems of the type {ϕ n(xm(y): n,m = 1, 2,...}.  相似文献

Applications of locally fine property for operators are further developed. LetE andF be Banach spaces andF:U(x 0)⊂EF be C1 nonlinear map, whereU (x 0) is an open set containing pointx 0E. With the locally fine property for Frechet derivativesf′(x) and generalized rank theorem forf′(x), a local conjugacy theorem, i. e. a characteristic condition forf being conjugate tof′(x 0) near x0,is proved. This theorem gives a complete answer to the local conjugacy problem. Consequently, several rank theorems in advanced calculus are established, including a theorem for C1 Fredholm map which has been so far unknown. Also with this property the concept of regular value is extended, which gives rise to a generalized principle for constructing Banach submanifolds.  相似文献

A comparative study of the functional equationsf(x+y)f(xy)=f 2(x)–f 2(y),f(y){f(x+y)+f(xy)}=f(x)f(2y) andf(x+y)+f(xy)=2f(x){1–2f 2(y/2)} which characterise the sine function has been carried out. The zeros of the functionf satisfying any one of the above equations play a vital role in the investigations. The relation of the equationf(x+y)+f(xy)=2f(x){1–2f 2(y/2)} with D'Alembert's equation,f(x+y)+f(xy)=2f(x)f(y) and the sine-cosine equationg(xy)=g(x)g(y) +f(x)f(y) has also been investigated.  相似文献

We consider a second-order differential equation −y + q(x)y(x) = λy(x) with complex-valued potential q and eigenvalue parameter λ ∈ ℂ. In PT quantum mechanics the potential q is given by q(x) = −(ix)N+2 on a contour Γ ⊂ ℂ. Via a parametrization we obtain two differential equations on [0, ∞) and (−∞, 0]. We give a limit-point/limit-circle classification of this problem via WKB-analysis. (© 2016 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

We solve independently the equations 1/θ(x)θ(y)=ψ(x)−ψ(y)+φ(xy)/θ(xy) and 1/θ(x)θ(y)=σ(x)−σ(y)/θ(xy)+τ(x)τ(y), τ(0)=0. In both cases we find θ2=aθ4+bθ2+c. We deduce estimates for the spectral radius of a matrix of type(1/θ(x r x s )) (the accent meaning that the coefficients of the main diagonal are zero) and we study the case where thex r are equidistant.

In the paper, we obtain the existence of symmetric or monotone positive solutions and establish a corresponding iterative scheme for the equation (ϕ p (u′))′+q(t)f(u) = 0, 0 < t < 1, where ϕ p (s):= |s| p−2 s, p > 1, subject to nonlinear boundary condition. The main tool is the monotone iterative technique. Here, the coefficient q(t) may be singular at t = 0; 1.  相似文献

To compute long term integrations for the pantograph differential equation with proportional delay qt, 0 < q ⩽ 1: y′(t) = ay(t) + by(qt) + f(t), y(0) = y 0, we offer two kinds of numerical methods using special mesh distributions, that is, a rational approximant with ‘quasi-uniform meshes’ (see E. Ishiwata and Y. Muroya [Appl. Math. Comput., 2007, 187: 741-747]) and a Gauss collocation method with ‘quasi-constrained meshes’. If we apply these meshes to rational approximant and Gauss collocation method, respectively, then we obtain useful numerical methods of order p * = 2m for computing long term integrations. Numerical investigations for these methods are also presented.   相似文献

It is well known that a function f of the real variable x is convex if and only if (x,y)→yf(y -1 x),y>0 is convex. This is used to derive a recursive proof of the convexity of the multiplicative potential function. In this paper, we obtain a conjugacy formula which gives rise, as a corollary, to a new rule for generating new convex functions from old ones. In particular, it allows to extend the aforementioned property to functions of the form (x,y)→g(y)f(g(y)-1 x) and provides a new tool for the study of the multiplicative potential and penalty functions. In this paper, we determine the general solution of the functional equation f1 (2x + y) + f2(2x - y) = f3(x + y) + f4(x - y) + f5(x) without assuming any regularity condition on the unknown functions f1,f2,f3, f4, f5 : R→R. The general solution of this equation is obtained by finding the general solution of the functional equations f(2x + y) + f(2x - y) = g(x + y) + g(x - y) + h(x) and f(2x + y) - f(2x - y) = g(x + y) - g(x - y). The method used for solving these functional equations is elementary but exploits an important result due to Hosszfi. The solution of this functional equation can also be determined in certain type of groups using two important results due to Szekelyhidi.  相似文献

The stability problems of the exponential (functional) equation on a restricted domain will be investigated, and the results will be applied to the study of an asymptotic property of that equation. More precisely, the following asymptotic property is proved: Let X be a real (or complex) normed space. A mapping f : X → C is exponential if and only if f(x + y) - f(x)f(y) → 0 as ||x|| + ||y|| → ∞ under some suitable conditions.  相似文献

A third derivative method (TDM) with continuous coefficients is derived and used to obtain a main and additional methods, which are simultaneously applied to provide all approximations on the entire interval for initial and boundary value problems of the form y′′ = f(x, y, y′). The convergence analysis of the method is discussed. An algorithm involving the TDMs is developed and equipped with an automatic error estimate based on the double mesh principle. Numerical experiments are performed to show efficiency and accuracy advantages.  相似文献

This paper considers the existence and large time behavior of solutions to the convection-diffusion equation u t −Δu+b(x)·∇(u|u| q −1)=f(x, t) in ℝ n ×[0,∞), where f(x, t) is slowly decaying and q≥1+1/n (or in some particular cases q≥1). The initial condition u 0 is supposed to be in an appropriate L p space. Uniform and nonuniform decay of the solutions will be established depending on the data and the forcing term.This work is partially supported by an AMO Grant  相似文献

Letf be a non-decreasing C1-function such that andF(t)/f 2 a(t)→ 0 ast → ∞, whereF(t)=∫ 0 t f(s) ds anda ∈ (0, 2]. We prove the existence of positive large solutions to the equationΔu +q(x)|Δu| a =p(x)f(u) in a smooth bounded domain Ω ⊂RN, provided thatp, q are non-negative continuous functions so that any zero ofp is surrounded by a surface strictly included in Ω on whichp is positive. Under additional hypotheses onp we deduce the existence of solutions if Ω is unbounded.  相似文献

We consider an Abel equation (*)y’=p(x)y 2 +q(x)y 3 withp(x), q(x) polynomials inx. A center condition for (*) (closely related to the classical center condition for polynomial vector fields on the plane) is thaty 0=y(0)≡y(1) for any solutiony(x) of (*). Folowing [7], we consider a parametric version of this condition: an equation (**)y’=p(x)y 2 +εq(x)y 3 p, q as above, ε ∈ ℂ, is said to have a parametric center, if for any ɛ and for any solutiony(ɛ,x) of (**)y(ɛ, 0)≡y(ɛ, 1).. We give another proof of the fact, shown in [6], that the parametric center condition implies vanishing of all the momentsm k (1), wherem k (x)=∫ 0 x pk (t)q(t)(dt),P(x)=∫ 0 x p(t)dt. We investigate the structure of zeroes ofm k (x) and generalize a “canonical representation” ofm k (x) given in [7]. On this base we prove in some additional cases a composition conjecture, stated in [6, 7] for a parametric center problem.
