We prove that for a fixed integer s2 every K s,s -free graph of average degree at least r contains a K p minor where . A well-known conjecture on the existence of dense K s,s -free graphs would imply that the value of the exponent is best possible. Our result implies Hadwigers conjecture for K s,s -free graphs whose chromatic number is sufficiently large compared with s.  相似文献

We study Lp-viscosity solutions of fully nonlinear, second-order, uniformly elliptic partial differential equations (PDE) with measurable terms and quadratic nonlinearity. We present a sufficient condition under which the maximum principle holds for Lp-viscosity solution. We also prove stability and existence results for the equations under consideration.  相似文献

We introduce the concept of Lp-maximal regularity for second order Cauchy problems. We prove Lp-maximal regularity for an abstract model problem and we apply the abstract results to prove existence, uniqueness and regularity of solutions for nonlinear wave equations. In this paper, we study the weighted (x(q + 1), x; 2, q)-minihypers. These are weighted sets of x(q + 1) points in PG(2, q) intersecting every line in at least x points. We investigate the decomposability of these minihypers, and define a switching construction which associates to an (x(q + 1), x; 2, q)-minihyper, with xq 2q, not decomposable in the sum of another minihyper and a line, a (j(q + 1), j; 2, q)-minihyper, where j = q 2qx, again not decomposable into the sum of another minihyper and a line. We also characterize particular (x(q + 1), x; 2, q)-minihypers, and give new examples. Additionally, we show that (x(q + 1), x; 2, q)-minihypers can be described as rational sums of lines. In this way, this work continues the research on (x(q + 1), x; 2, q)-minihypers by Hill and Ward (Des Codes Cryptogr 44:169–196, 2007), giving further results on these minihypers.  相似文献

In this paper, we are interested in a generalization of the notion of sum-free sets. We address a conjecture rst made in the 90s by Chung and Goldwasser. Recently, after some computer checks, this conjecture was formulated again by Matolcsi and Ruzsa, who made a rst signicant step towards it. Here, we prove the full conjecture by giving an optimal upper bound for the Lebesgue measure of a 3-sum-free subset A of [0; 1], that is, a set containing no solution to the equation x+y=3z where x, y and z are restricted to belong to A. We then address the inverse problem and characterize precisely, among all sets with that property, those attaining the maximal possible measure.  相似文献

The Dirichlet problem for the degenerate and singular parabolic p(x)-Laplace equation with one spatial variable is considered. We prove the existence of the unique weak solution such that the derivatives u t and u x of a solution u belong to \({L_{\infty}}\). For the multi-channel bulk-arrival queue, M x /M/c, Abol'nikov and Kabak independently obtained steady state results. In this paper the results of these authors are extended, corrected and simplified. A number of measures of efficiency are calculated for three cases where the arrival group size has: (i) a constant value, (ii) a geometric distribution, or (iii) a positive Poisson distribution. The paper also shows how to calculate fractiles for both the queue length and the waiting time distribution. Examples of extensive numerical results for certain measures of efficiency are presented in tabular and chart form.  相似文献

We consider the mixed problem,
in a class of Lipschitz graph domains in two dimensions with Lipschitz constant at most 1. We suppose the Dirichlet data, f D , has one derivative in L p (D) of the boundary and the Neumann data, f N , is in L p (N). We find a p 0 > 1 so that for p in an interval (1, p 0), we may find a unique solution to the mixed problem and the gradient of the solution lies in L p . L. Lanzani, L. Capogna and R. M. We show that, if a simple C*-algebra A is topologically finite-dimensional in a suitable sense, then not only K0(A) has certain good properties, but A is even accessible to Elliott’s classification program. More precisely, we prove the following results:If A is simple, separable and unital with finite decomposition rank and real rank zero, then K0(A) is weakly unperforated.If A has finite decomposition rank, real rank zero and the space of extremal tracial states is compact and zero-dimensional, then A has stable rank one and tracial rank zero. As a consequence, if B is another such algebra, and if A and B have isomorphic Elliott invariants and satisfy the Universal coefficients theorem, then they are isomorphic.In the case where A has finite decomposition rank and the space of extremal tracial states is compact and zero-dimensional, we also give a criterion (in terms of the ordered K0-group) for A to have real rank zero. Chudnovsky et al. gave a min-max formula for the maximum number of node-disjoint nonzero A-paths in group-labeled graphs [1], which is a generalization of Mader's theorem on node-disjoint A-paths [3]. Here we present a further generalization with a shorter proof. Given , a compact abelian group G and a function , we identify the maximal (i.e. optimal) domain of the convolution operator (as an operator from Lp(G) to itself). This is the largest Banach function space (with order continuous norm) into which Lp(G) is embedded and to which has a continuous extension, still with values in Lp(G). Of course, the optimal domain depends on p and g. Whereas is compact, this is not always so for the extension of to its optimal domain.
