Electrospray‐ionization mass spectrometric studies of poly(methylaluminoxane) (MAO) in the presence of [Cp2ZrMe2], [Cp2ZrMe(Cl)], and [Cp2ZrCl2] in fluorobenzene (PhF) solution are reported. The results demonstrate that alkylation and ionization are separate events that occur at competitive rates in a polar solvent. Furthermore, there are significant differences in ion‐pair speciation that result from the use of metallocene dichloride complexes in comparison to alkylated precursors at otherwise identical Al/Zr ratios. Finally, the counter anions that form are dependent on the choice of precursor and Al/Zr ratio; halogenated aluminoxane anions [(MeAlO)x(Me3Al)y?z(Me2AlCl)zMe]? (z=1, 2, 3…?) are observed using metal chloride complexes and under some conditions may predominate over their non‐halogenated precursors [(MeAlO)x(Me3Al)yMe]?. Specifically, this halogenation process appears selective for the anions that form in comparison to the neutral components of MAO. Only at very high Al/Zr ratios is the same “native” anion distribution observed when using [Cp2ZrCl2] when compared with [Cp2ZrMe2]. Together, the results suggest that the need for a large excess of MAO when using metallocene dichloride complexes is a reflection of competitive alkylation vs. ionization, the persistence of unreactive, homodinuclear ion pairs in the case of [Cp2ZrCl2], as well as a change in ion pairing resulting from modification of the anions formed at lower Al/Zr ratios. Models for neutral precursors and anions are examined computationally.  相似文献

The evolution of methane from methylaluminoxane (MAO) solutions is enhanced in the presence of homogeneous metallocenes. This reaction serves as a model for the deactivation of metallocene catalysts. By supporting different metallocenes on a silica/MAO carrier the deactivation reaction by alpha-hydrogen transfer among metallocene active sites and aluminum alkyls can be suppressed. The suppression of alpha-hydrogen transfer is proven for different Al/Zr ratios and by near independence of the polymerization activity on the catalyst aging time, after reaching maximum activity. Aluminum alkyls and MAO leach Cp2ZrCl2 from the carrier, the leached metallocene is only active in polymerization if MAO is present.  相似文献

The polymerization behavior of 2-(2′-pyridyl) quinoxaline nickel dibromide/Cp2ZrCl2/MAO system was investigated in three ways: the Ni catalyst was added first, followed by addition of Zr catalyst (method I); the Ni and Zr catalysts were added simultaneously (method II); and the Zr catalyst was added first, followed by addition of Ni catalyst (method III). Results of GC-MS, GPC,13C NMR and DSC investigations indicated that the properties of resulting polyethylene were greatly varied by changing feeding orders of the two catalysts. Decreasing Ni/Zr molar ratio or increasing polymerization temperature gave corresponding polyethylenes with less branches and higher melting point. Compared to the procedure using Cp2ZrCl2 catalyst only, the activity of Zr catalyst in those combined system decreased because of the competition of ethylene between the [Ni−C] and [Zr−C] active centers. In addition, other zirconocenes were also employed as copolymerization catalysts in the combined system with nickel complex. compared to Cp2ZrCl2 case, the ethyl-bridged Zr catalyst performed better for polymerization of ethylene while the Si-bridged Zr catalyst showed better copolymerization ability.  相似文献

The oligomerization and polymerization of 1‐pentene using Cp2ZrCl2, Cp2HfCl2, [(CH3)5C5]2ZrCl2, rac‐[C2H4(Ind)2]ZrCl2, [(CH3)2Si(Ind)2]ZrCl2, (CH3)2Si(2‐methylbenz[e]indenyl)2ZrCl2, Cp2ZrCl{O(Me)CW(CO)5}, Cp2ZrCl(OMe) and methylaluminoxane (MAO) has been studied. The degree of polymerization was highly dependent on the metallocene catalyst. Oligomers ranging from the dimer of 1‐pentene to polymers of poly‐1‐pentene with a molar mass Mw = 149000 g/mol were formed. Cp2ZrCl{O(Me)CW(CO)5} is a new highly active catalyst for the oligomerization of 1‐pentene to low molecular weight products. The activity decreases in the order Cp2ZrCl{O(Me)CW(CO)5} > Cp2ZrCl2 > Cp2ZrCl(OMe). Furthermore, poly‐1‐olefins ranging from poly‐1‐pentene to poly‐1‐octadecene were synthesized with (CH3)2Si(2‐methyl‐benz[e]indenyl)2ZrCl2 and methylaluminoxane (MAO) at different temperatures. The temperature dependence of the molar mass can be described by a common exponential decay function irrespective of the investigated monomer.  相似文献

By treating cyclodextrin(CD) with methylaluminoxane (MAO such as PMAO or MMAO) or trimethylaluminium (TMA) followed by Cp2ZrCl2, CD/PMAO/Cp2ZrCl2, CD/MMAO/Cp2ZrCl2 and CD/TMA/Cp2ZrCl2 catalysts were prepared. The catalysts were analyzed by 13C-CP/MAS NMR spectrometer and ICP to examine the structure of catalyst and content of Zr and Al. Ethylene polymerization was conducted with MAO or TMA as cocatalyst. Styrene polymerization was also carried out with α-CD/MMAO/Cp*TiCl3 and α-CD/TMA/Cp*TiCl3 catalysts. While the ordinary trialkylaluminium such as TMA as well as MAO can be used as cocatalyst for ethylene polymerization, only MAO could initiate the styrene polymerization with α-CD supported catalysts.  相似文献

Metallocene catalysts entrapped inside the supercages of NaY zeolite were prepared by reacting NaY with methylaluminoxane (MAO) or trimethylaluminium (TMA) and then with Cp2ZrCl2 (Cp: cyclopentadienyl) or Cp2TiCl2. NaY/MAO/Cp2ZrCl2 and NaY/MAO/Cp2TiCl2 catalysts could polymerize ethylene. The amount of additional MAO for the polymerization was lowered to a mole ratio of Al/Zr of 186. Molecular weights and melting points of polyethylene polymerized with NaY-supported catalysts were higher than those of polyethylene obtained with homogeneous metallocene catalysts. It could be confirmed by extraction experiments that the metallocene catalyst was confined securely inside the supercage of the NaY zeolite.  相似文献

(CpCH_2CH_2CH = CH_2)_2MCl_2(M=Zr, Hf)/MAO and Cp_2ZrCl_2/MAO (Cp=cyclopentadienyl; MAO=methylaluminoxane) catalyst systems have been compared for ethylene copolymerization to investigate the influence of theligand and transition metal on the polymerization activity and copolymer properties. For both CH_2CH_2CH=CH_2 substitutedcatalysts the catalytic activity decreased with increasing propene concentration in the feed. The activity of the hafnocenecatalyst was 6~8 times lower than that of the analogous zirconocene catalyst, ~(13)C NMR analysis showed that the copolymerobtained using the unsubstituted catalyst Cp_2ZrCl_2 has greater incorporatien of propene than those produced byCH_2CH_2CH=CH_2 substituted Zr and Hf catalysts. The melting point, crystallinity and the viscosity-average molecularweight of the copolymer decreased with an increase of propenc concentration in the feed. Both CH_2CH_2CH= CH_2 substitutedZr and Hf catalysts exhibit little or no difference in the melting point and crystallinity of the produced copolymers. However, there are significant differences between the two zirconocene catalysts. The copolymer produced by Cp_2ZrCl_2 catalyst havemuch lower T_m and X_c than those obtained with the (CpCH_2CH_2CH=CH_2)_2ZrCl_2 catalyst. The density and molecular weightof the copolymer decreased in the order: (CpCH_2CH_2CH=CH_2)_2HfCl_2>(CpCH_2CH_2CH=CH_2)_2ZrCl_2>Cp_2ZrCl_2. The kineticbehavior of copolymerizaton with Hf catalyst was found to be different from that with Zr catalyst.  相似文献

An on‐line electron spin resonance (ESR) technique was applied to investigate the oxidation states of the metallocene catalysts CpTiCl3, CpZrCl3, Cp2TiCl2, and Cp2ZrCl2. These metallocene catalysts were activated by modified methylaluminoxane (MMAO). It was found that the titanocene catalysts (CpTiCl3 and Cp2TiCl2) were readily reduced to the trivalent state while the zirconocene catalysts (CpZrCl3 and Cp2ZrCl2) were quite stable with respect to reduction. The concentrations of the trivalent species Ti(III) and Zr(III) showed linear relationships with the concentrations of metallocene catalyst precursors. However, their slopes were always smaller than unity indicating the existence of bimetallic interactions of the active sites. The ESR detectable Ti(III) and Zr(III) concentrations initially increased with the MAO/catalyst ratio and then leveled off after an 800–1000 Al/catalyst molar ratio. The deactivation processes were followed as a function of aging time over a range of temperature (25–100°C). The decay curves strongly depended on aging temperature with higher temperature giving faster decay rates. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Polym Sci A: Polym Chem 37: 1465–1472, 1999  相似文献

Polymerization of ethylene and propene were conducted with bis(cyclopentadienylzirconium dichloride) (Cp2ZrCl2) and ethylenebis(1-indenyl)zirconium dichloride (Et(Ind)2ZrCl2) combined with trialkylaluminium compounds using heteropolyacids as the counter-anions, giving linear polyethylene and isotactic polypropene, respectively. No polymer was obtained when using Cp2Zr(CH3)2 instead of Cp2ZrCl2. The mechanism of the formation of active species is briefly discussed on the basis of these results.  相似文献

Ethylene polymerization was carried out with zirconocene catalysts supported on montmorillonite (or functionalized montmorillonite). The functionalized montmorillonite was from simple ion exchange of [CH3O2CCH2NH3]+ (MeGlyH+) ions with interlamellar cations of layered montmorillonites. The functionalized montmorillonites [high‐purity montmorillonite (MMT)‐MeGlyH+] had larger interlayer spacing (12.69 Å) than montmorillonites without treatment (9.65 Å). The zirconocene catalyst system [Cp2ZrCl2/methylaluminoxane (MAO)/MMT‐MeGlyH+] had much higher Zr loading and higher activities than those of other zirconocene catalyst systems (Cp2ZrCl2/MMT, Cp2ZrCl2/MMT‐MeGlyH+, Cp2ZrCl2/MAO/MMT, [Cp2ZrCl]+[BF4]/MMT, [Cp2ZrCl]+[BF4]?/MMT‐MeGlyH+, [Cp2ZrCl]+[BF4]?/MAO/MMT‐MeGlyH+, and [Cp2ZrCl]+[BF4]?/MAO/MMT). The polyethylenes with good bulk density were obtained from the catalyst systems, particularly (Cp2ZrCl2/MAO/MMT‐MeGlyH+). MeGlyH+ and MAO seemed to play important roles for preparation of the supported zirconocenes and polymerization of ethylene. The difference in Zr loading and catalytic activity among the supported zirconocene catalysts is discussed. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 40: 1892–1898, 2002  相似文献

Copolymerization of ethylene and poly(propylene) macromonomer(PPM) with Mn⇋710 was conducted with the (t-butylamido)dimethyl(tetramethyl-η5-cyclopentadienyl)silanetitanium dichloride(CGC-Ti), ethylenebis(tetrahydroindenyl)zirconium dichloride(Et[IndH4]2ZrCl2), bis(cyclopentadienyl)zirconium dichloride(Cp2ZrCl2) and bis(cyclopentadienyl)titanium dichloride(Cp2TiCl2) catalysts using methylaluminoxane as cocatalyst. From the detail analysis of resulting copolymers by DSC, IR and 13C NMR, it was proved that PPM is copolymerized with ethylene to give poly(ethylene-co-PPM). The ability of incorporating PPM in the copolymer was found to increase in the following order: Cp2ZrCl2 «Cp2TiCl2 < Et[IndH4]2ZrCl2 «CGC-Ti.  相似文献

The synthesis of long‐chain branched polyethylene includes the generation of vinyl‐terminated polyethylene macromonomers and the copolymerization of these macromonomers with ethylene. Four new bridged cyclopentadienyl indenyl (fluorenyl) zirconocene complexes 1a–b, 2a–b were prepared and showed high activities for ethylene homopolymerization upon the activation of methylaluminoxane. The steric bulk of bridged substituent has a profound effect on the catalytic activity as well as on the molecular weight of resulting polyethylene. Complex 1b showed the highest activity of up to 5.32 × 106 g PE/(mol Zr h) for ethylene homopolymerization at 70 °C, which was higher than that of Cp2ZrCl2. The polyethylenes produced with complexes 1a–d/MAO are mostly vinyl‐terminated, possess low molecular weight and fit as macromonomers. The (p‐MePh)2C‐bridged cyclopentadienyl indenyl zirconocene complex 1a could produce polyethylene macromonomer with selectivity for the vinyl‐terminal as high as 94.9%. With C1-, C2- or Cs-symmetric metallocenes, different intermediates and types of copolymers can be obtained from randomly distributed to alternating structures. Substitution of the Cp-ring in [Me2C-(tert-Bu Cp)(Flu)]ZrCl2 yields ethene/norbornene copolymers with an alternating structure, because the rigid norbornene can only be inserted from the open side of the metallocene. By variation of the polymerization parameters, copolymers with glass transition temperatures above 180°C and molecular weights > 100 000 are synthesized. By supporting different metallocenes on a silica/methylaluminoxane (MAO) carrier the deactivation reaction under electron and hydrogen transfer can be suppressed. This is proved for different Al/Zr ratios when trimethylaluminum (TMA) is used as cocatalyst by the lack of methane evolution by metallocenes and by near independence of the polymerization activity on the prereaction time, after reaching maximum activity. Aluminumalkyls and MAO leach Cp2ZrCl2 from the carrier, the leached metallocene is only active in polymerization by adding MAO.  相似文献

The catalytic properties of a set of ansa‐complexes (R‐Ph)2C(Cp)(Ind)MCl2 [R = tBu, M = Ti ( 3 ), Zr ( 4 ) or Hf ( 5 ); R = MeO, M = Zr ( 6 ), Hf ( 7 )] in α‐olefin homopolymerization and ethylene/1‐hexene copolymerization were explored in the presence of MAO (methylaluminoxane). Complex 4 with steric bulk tBu group on phenyl exhibited remarkable catalytic activity for ethylene polymerization. It was 1.6‐fold more active than complex 11 [Ph2C(Cp)(Ind)ZrCl2] at 11 atm ethylene pressure and was 4.8‐fold more active at 1 atm pressure. The introduction of bulk substituent tBu into phenyl groups not only increased the catalytic activity greatly but also enhanced the content of 1‐hexene in ethylene/1‐hexene copolymerization. The highest 1‐hexene incorporation was 25.4%. In addition, 4 was also active for propylene and 1‐hexene homopolymerization, respectively, and low isotactic polypropylene (mmmm = 11.3%) and isotactic polyhexene (mmmm = 31.6%) were obtained. To generate an active site that consisted of one Cp2ZrCl2 molecule and 1-2 MAO molecules inside supercage of NaY zeolite, two preparation ways for supported catalyst were estimated. First, higher concentration of MAO and Cp2ZrCl2, and long reaction time were introduced during the preparation of supported catalyst. It showed activity in ethylene polymerization without any additional MAO. It indicates that Cp2ZrCl2 coordinated with only 1-2 MAO molecules could be an active site due to the fact that supercage has nano-scaled diameter of supercage, 1.2 nm, and it could contain only 1-2 MAO molecules inside it theoretically. In situ generation of active site between NaY/MAO and homogeneous Cp2ZrCl2 also showed experimental evidence that an active site was generated inside the supercage of NaY zeolite. It showed low activity with long activation time, suggesting the presence of a diffusion effect of Cp2ZrCl2 in the pore of NaY. However, NaY/Cp2ZrCl2 and homogeneous MAO system showed the characteristic PE polymerization with homogeneous catalyst, indicating that active site was not generated inside the supercage of NaY.  相似文献

The kinetics of ethylene polymerization using homogeneous Cp2ZrCl2/aluminoxane catalysts in toluene has been investigated at 70 °C with an ethylene pressure of 30 psi. Four aluminoxanes were used: methylaluminoxane, modified methylaluminoxanes with a fraction of methyl groups substituted with isobutyl (MMAO‐4) or octyl (MMAO‐12) groups, and polymethylaluminoxane (PMAO‐IP). The cocatalyst‐to‐catalyst ratio, [Al]/[Zr], varied from 1000 to 10,000. The experimental results obtained using the four cocatalysts were compared and a model was proposed to fit the rate of polymerization as a function of polymerization time and [Al]/[Zr] ratio. Molecular weight distributions with polydispersities between three and four indicate the presence of more than one active site type. We proposed a model that explained these broad molecular weight distributions using an unstable active complex that is formed in the early stages of the reaction and is transformed over time to a more stable active complex via an intermediate. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A novel carrier of ultradispersed diamond black powder (UDDBP) was used to support metallocene catalyst. Al2O3 was also used as carrier in order to compare with UDDBP. Supported catalysts for ethylene polymerization were synthesized by two different reaction methods. One way was direct immobilization of the metallocene on the support, the other was adsorption of MAO onto the support followed by addition of the metallocene. Four supported catalysts Cp2ZrCl2/UDDBP, Cp2ZrCl2/Al2O3, Cp2ZrCl2/MAO/UDDBP and Cp2ZrCl2/Al2O3/MAO were obtained. The content of the zirconium in the supported catalyst was determined by UV spectroscopy. The activity of the ethylene polymerization catalyzed by supported catalyst was investigated. The influence of Al/Zr molar ratio and polymerization temperature on the activity was discussed. The polymerization rate was also observed.  相似文献

Comparative analysis of catalytic activity of substituted bis(cyclopentadienyl)zirconium dichlorides with the general formula (R n Cp)2ZrCl2 (Cp2ZrCl2, (MeCp)2ZrCl2, (PriCp)2ZrCl2, (Pri 2Cp)2ZrCl2, (BunCp)2ZrCl2, (BuiCp)2ZrCl2, (ButCp)2ZrCl2, Cp* 2ZrCl2 (Cp*=Me5C5), (Me3SiCp)2ZrCl2, (cyclo-C6H11Cp)2ZrCl2, and [(cyclo-C6H11)2Cp]2ZrCl2) in ethene polymerization using polymethylalumoxane as the cocatalyst was performed. The molecular mass characteristics of the polyethylene samples obtained were determined. A linear correlation of the specific activity of the catalysts and the turnover number with the electronic and steric characteristics of substituents at the Cp ring of the complexes was established for the first time. Analysis of the polymerization kinetics and the obtained correlation between the specific activity of the complexes and molecular mass characteristics of the polyethylene samples suggest that alkyl substituents participate in reactions responsible for the restriction of the polymer chain growth and regeneration of the active center. These interactions most likely involve associates of AlMe3 with polymethylalumoxane molecules.  相似文献

Cp2ZrCl2 confined inside the supercage of NaY zeolites [NaY/methylaluminoxane (MAO)/Cp2ZrCl2] exhibited the shape and diffusion of a monomer‐controlled copolymerization mechanism that strongly depended on the molecular structure of the monomer and its size. For the ethylene–propylene copolymerization, NaY/MAO/Cp2ZrCl2 showed the effect of the comonomer on the increase in the polymerization rate in the presence of propylene, whereas the ethylene/1‐hexene copolymerization showed little comonomer effect, and the ethylene/1‐octene copolymerization instead showed a comonomer depression effect on the polymerization rate. Isobutylene, having a larger kinetic diameter, had little influence on the copolymerization behaviors with NaY/MAO/Cp2ZrCl2 for the ethylene–isobutylene copolymerization, which showed evidence of the shape and diffusion of a monomer‐controlled mechanism. The content of the comonomer in the copolymer chain prepared with NaY/MAO/Cp2ZrCl2 decreased by about one‐half in comparison with that of Cp2ZrCl2. A differential scanning calorimetry study on the melting endotherms after the successive annealing of the copolymers showed that the copolymers of NaY/MAO/Cp2ZrCl2 had narrow comonomer distributions, whereas those of homogeneous Cp2ZrCl2 were broad. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
