The primary goal of this article is to establish some approximation properties of fractal functions. More specifically, we establish that a monotone continuous real-valued function can be uniformly approximated with a monotone fractal polynomial, which in addition agrees with the function on an arbitrarily given finite set of points. Furthermore, the simultaneous approximation and \mboxinterpolation which is norm-preserving property of fractal polynomials is established. In the final part of the article, we establish differentiability of a more general class of fractal functions. It is shown that these smooth fractal functions and their derivatives are good approximants for the original function and its \mboxderivatives.  相似文献

From the Erds–Turán theorem, it is known that if f is a continuous function on and L n (f, z) denotes the unique Laurent polynomial interpolating f at the (2 n + 1)th roots of unity, then Several years later, Walsh and Sharma produced similar result but taking into consideration a function analytic in and continuous on and making use of algebraic interpolating polynomials in the roots of unity.In this paper, the above results will be generalized in two directions. The continuity conditions at the endpoints of interpolation theorems, TaBjMj aAj for j=0, 1, can be written with the help of the approximation functional: E(tTaB1B0)LM0 aA0 and E(tTaB0B1)LM1 aA1. As a special case of the results we present here we show that in the hypotheses of the interpolation theorem the L norms can be replaced by BMO( +) norms. This leads to a strong version of the Stein-Weiss theorem on interpolation with change of measure. Another application of our results is that the condition fL0, i.e., f*L, where f*(γ)=μ{|f|>γ} is the distribution function of f, can be replaced in interpolation with L(pq) spaces by the weaker f*BMO( +).  相似文献
