Electrical resistivity ρ and Hal coefficient R are measured as a function of the temperature (T = 1.7−310 K) and the magnetic field (up to H = 28 kOe) in zero-gap semiconductor CuFeS2 samples subjected to hydrostatic compression and under various heat-treatment conditions. At low temperatures, anomalies are observed in the kinetic effects related to the presence of ferromagnetic clusters: the magnetoresistance at T = 4.2 K and T = 20.4 K acquires a hysteretic character and thermopower α changes its sign at T < 15 K. The temperature dependence of conduction-electron concentration n in CuFeS2 has a power form in the temperature range T = 14−300 K, which is characteristic of the intrinsic conductivity in zero-gap semiconductors. In CuFeS2, we have n(T) ∝ T 1.2; in isoelectron compound Cu1.13Fe1.22Te2, we have n(T) ∝ T 1.93. Heat treatment is found to affect the intrinsic conductivity of CuFeS2, as the action of hydrostatic compression (carrier concentration changes); that is, the carrier concentration changes. However, a power form of the n(T) and ρ(T) dependences is retained.  相似文献

The dependences of the magnetization M and the magnetic susceptibility χ = ∂M/∂H of pure gadolinium (the concentration of foreign impurities is lower than 0.1 wt %) on the temperature T and the magnetic field H have been measured using a Quantum Design MPMS-5XL SQUID magnetometer. In this material, inhomogeneities of the atomic structure should not lead to a nonuniform distribution of the magnetic characteristics (including the Curie temperature T C) over the volume of the sample. The obtained dependences of M and χ have been used to investigate the possibility of suppressing magnetic inhomogeneities of other types by magnetic fields with a strength of up to 50 kOe. It has been assumed that these inhomogeneities are suppressed when the specific relationship, namely, the 21/3 rule is fulfilled. The rule relates the portions of the dependence χ(T, H) which at the temperature T = T C and at the maximum in the curve χ(T) (T = T m ) depend on H in accordance with the H 2/3 law. It has been shown that the portions separated from the experimental curves χ(T C, H) and χ(T m , H) obey the 21/3 rule.  相似文献

The magnetic susceptibility χ/χ0 and the longitudinal Δρ zz 0 and transverse Δρ xx 0 magnetoresistances have been measured as functions of the hydrostatic pressure P ≤ 7 GPa at room temperature in the high-temperature ferromagnetic semiconductor Cd0.7Mn0.3GeAs2 with a chalcopyrite structure and the Curie temperature T c = 355 K. A pressure-induced metamagnetic transition from the low-magnetization state to the high-magnetization state has been observed in Cd0.7Mn0.3GeAs2 near the magnetic ordering temperature. This transition is accompanied by the hysteresis of the magnetic susceptibility and magnetoresistance.  相似文献

We report synthesis, structure/micro-structure, resistivity under magnetic field [ρ(T)H], Raman spectra, thermoelectric power S(T), thermal conductivity κ(T), and magnetization of ambient pressure argon annealed polycrystalline bulk samples of MgB2, processed under identical conditions. The compound crystallizes in hexagonal structure with space group P6/mmm. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) reveals electron micrographs showing various types of defect features along with the presence of 3–4 nm thick amorphous layers forming the grain boundaries of otherwise crystalline MgB2. Raman spectra of the compound at room temperature exhibited characteristic phonon peak at 600 cm-1. Superconductivity is observed at 37.2 K by magnetic susceptibility χ(T), resistivity ρ(T), thermoelectric power S(T), and thermal conductivity κ(T) measurements. The power law fitting of ρ(T) give rise to Debye temperature (ΘD) at 1400 K which is found consistent with the theoretical fitting of S(T), exhibiting Θ D of 1410 K and carrier density of 3.81 × 1028/m3. Thermal conductivity κ(T) shows a jump at 38 K, i.e., at Tc, which was missing in some earlier reports. Critical current density (Jc) of up to 105 A/cm2 in 1–2 T (Tesla) fields at temperatures (T) of up to 10 K is seen from magnetization measurements. The irreversibility field, defined as the field related to merging of M(H) loops is found to be 78, 68 and 42 kOe at 4, 10 and 20 K respectively. The superconducting performance parameters viz. irreversibility field (Hirr) and critical current density Jc(H) of the studied MgB2 are improved profoundly with addition of nano-SiC and nano-diamond. The physical property parameters measured for polycrystalline MgB2 are compared with earlier reports and a consolidated insight of various physical properties is presented.  相似文献

We report measurements of the temperature dependence of the electrical resistivity, ρ(T), and magnetic pen-etration depth, λ(T), for polycrystalline samples of Eu0.5K0.5Fe2As2 with T c = 31 K. ρ(T) follows a linear temperature dependence above T c and bends over to a weaker temperature dependence around 150 K. The magnetic penetration depth, determined by radio frequency technique displays an unusual minimum around 4 K which is associated with short-range ordering of localized Eu3+ moments. The photophoresis of a coarse solid spherical aerosol particle in a one-component gas of nonuniform temperature is examined with consideration of the inertial effects in the hydrodynamic equations and the temperature jump in the Knudsen layer. The problem is solved in the spherical coordinates r, Θ, and ϕ. The photophoresis of a homogeneous particle is considered first. Then the results are generalized to an inhomogeneous particle. A particle whose thermal conductivity χ i varies as a function of r is chosen as a model which describes a broad class of natural and artificially produced aerosol particles. It is shown that the error can be significant if the variable internal thermal conductivity χ i =χ i (r) of the particle is ignored and only the value of the thermal conductivity on its surface χ i (a) is considered, on the assumption that the particle is homogeneous. It is also shown that a particle with a variable internal thermal conductivity χ i =χ i (r) and a density of heat sources within it q i (r,Θ) can be regarded as a homogeneous particle with a thermal conductivity γχ i (a) and a heat-source density m(r)q i (r,Θ). Recurrence formulas for gand m(r) in the general case are presented. Analytical expressions for γ and m(r) are found for a model particle with pronounced inhomogeneity. Zh. Tekh. The magnetic and thermal properties of the anion-deficient La0.70Sr0.30MnO2.85 manganite are investigated in wide temperature (4–350 K) range, including under hydrostatic pressure (0–1.1 GPa). Throughout the pressure range investigated, the sample is spin glass with diffused phase transition into paramagnetic state. It is established, that spin glass state is a consequence of exchange interaction frustration of the ferromagnetic clusters embeded into antiferromagnetic clusters. The magnetic moment freezing temperature T f of ferromagnetic clusters increases under pressure, freezing temperature dependence on pressure is characterized by derivative value ∼4.5 K/GPa, while the magnetic ordering T MO temperature dependence is characterized by derivative value ∼13 K/GPa. The volume fraction of sample having ferromagnetic state is V fer ∼ 13% and it increases under a pressure of 1.1 GPa by ΔV fer ≈ 6%. Intensification of ferromagnetic properties of the anion-deficient La0.70Sr0.30MnO2.85 manganite under hydrostatic pressure is a consequence of oxygen vacancies redistribution and unit cell parameters decrease. The most likely mechanism of frustrated exchange interactions formation is discussed.  相似文献

A pronounced step-like (kink) behavior in the temperature dependence of resistivity ρ(T) is observed in the optimally doped Sm1.85Ce0.15CuO4 thin films around T sf = 87 K and attributed to the manifestation of strong-spin fluctuations induced by Sm3+ moments with the energy ħωsf = k B T sf ≃ 7 meV. The experimental data are found to be well fitted by the residual (zero-temperature) ρres, electron-phonon ρe-ph(T) = AT, and electron-electron ρe-e(T) = BT 2 contributions in addition to the fluctuation-induced contribution ρsf(T) due to thermal broadening effects (of the width ωsf). According to the best fit, the plasmon frequency, impurity scattering rate, electron-phonon coupling constant, and Fermi energy are estimated as ωp = 2.1 meV, τ 0 −1 = 9.5 × 10−14 s−1, λ = 1.2, and E F = 0.2 eV, respectively. A new spintronics material with the Curie temperature above room temperature, the ZnSiAs2 chalcopyrite doped with 1 and 2 wt % Mn, is synthesized. The magnetization, electrical resistivity, magnetoresistance, and the Hall effect of these compositions are studied. The temperature dependence of the electrical resistivity follows a semiconducting pattern with an activation energy of 0.12–0.38 eV (in the temperature range 124 K ≤ T ≤ 263 K for both compositions). The hole mobility and concentration are 1.33, 2.13 cm2/V s and 2.2 × 1016, 8 × 1016 cm−3 at T = 293 K for the 1 and 2 wt % Mn compositions, respectively. The magnetoresistance of both compositions, including the region of the Curie point, does not exceed 0.4%. The temperature dependence of the magnetization M(T) of both compositions exhibits a complicated character; indeed, for T ≤ 15 K, it is characteristic of superparamagnets, while for T > 15 K, spontaneous magnetization appears which correspond to a decreased magnetic moment per formula unit as compared to that which would be observed upon complete ferromagnetic ordering of Mn2+ spins or antiferromagnetic ordering of spins of the Mn2+ and Mn3+ ions. Thus, for T > 15 K, it is a frustrated ferro- or ferrimagnet. It is found that, unlike the conventional superparamagnets, the cluster moment μ c in these compositions depends on the magnetic field: ∼12000–20000μB for H = 0.1 kOe, ∼52–55μB for H = 11 kOe, and ∼8.6–11.0μB at H = 50 kOe for the compositions with 1 and 2 wt % Mn, respectively. The specific features of the magnetic properties are explained by the competition between the carrier-mediated exchange and superexchange interactions.  相似文献

The magnetocaloric effect ΔT has been studied by a direct method in two samples of the manganite Sm0.55Sr0.45MnO3, namely, a single crystal (sample A) and a ceramic sample (sample C). The temperature dependences of the ΔT effect of both samples exhibit a maximum at T max = 143.3 K for the sample A and T max = 143 K for the sample C. In these maxima, the values of the ΔT effect are 0.8 and 0.4 K in the magnetic field H = 14.2 kOe for the samples A and C, respectively. In addition, the ΔT(T) curve of the sample A has a minimum at T min = 120 K, in which ΔT = −0.1 K. The maximum value of the ΔT effect increases with an increase in the magnetic field H in the range of magnetic fields up to 14.2 kOe, and the rate of this increase at H > 8 kOe is higher than that at H < 8 kOe. These features of the ΔT effect are explained by the presence of ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic A- and CE-type clusters in the samples.  相似文献

The resistive, magnetoresistive and magnetic properties of cold-pressed CrO2, powder prepared by hydrothermal synthesis from chromic anhydride have been studied. The powder particles (with a mean diameter of about 120 nm) were nearly spherical. The particles stabilized with a β-CrOOH surface layer. The powder compact (with a Curie temperature of about 385 K) revealed nonmetallic temperature behavior of the resistance (with an R(T) dependence close to exponential at T < 20 K). A giant negative magnetoresistance (MR) (∼20% at T ≈ 5K) is found. MR decreased rapidly with an increase in temperature (to 0.3% at T > 200 K). Such MR behavior is shown to be typical of a system of magnetic grains with magnetic (spin-dependent) tunneling.  相似文献

We report results of susceptibility χ and 7Li NMR measurements on LiVSi2O6. The temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility χ(T) exhibits a broad maximum, typical for low-dimensional magnetic systems. Quantitatively it is in agreement with the expectation for an S=1 spin chain, represented by the structural arrangement of V ions. The NMR results indicate antiferromagnetic ordering below TN=24 K. The intra- and interchain coupling J and Jp for LiVSi2O6, and also for its sister compounds LiVGe2O6, NaVSi2O6 and NaVGe2O6, are obtained via a modified random phase approximation which takes into account results of quantum Monte Carlo calculations. While Jp is almost constant across the series, J varies by a factor of 5, decreasing with increasing lattice constant along the chain direction. The comparison between experimental and theoretical susceptibility data suggests the presence of an easy-axis magnetic anisotropy, which explains the formation of an energy gap in the magnetic excitation spectrum below TN, indicated by the variation of the NMR spin-lattice relaxation rate at T≪TN.  相似文献

The anisotropy of the magnetic susceptibility χ and the influence of oxygen vacancies in CuO single crystals on it are investigated. The temperature dependences of χ(T) along the a, b, and c axes in the range 60<T<600 K and the behavior of the field dependence of the magnetization σ(H) above and below the Néel temperature T N are plotted for a crystal before and after heat treatment. The χ(T) curves have the form characteristic of low-dimensional systems, which become three-dimensional when the temperature is lowered. The character of the χ(T) curves remains unchanged after annealing. Oxygen vacancies have practically no influence on the a-axis magnetic susceptibility, but they alter the absolute values of the b-and c-axis susceptibilities. The significant effects of reducing the oxygen concentration include a decrease in the magnitude of the low-temperature anomaly (increase) in χ and an increase in the minimum value of χ. The results of the calculations of the exchange parameter I/k and the g factor are discussed in terms of the Heisenberg and Ising models for a one-dimensional system. Zh. éksp. Teor. This paper reports on a study of the resistance and differential magnetic susceptibility χ ac of lead embedded in nanosized glass pores with a diameter of ∼7 mm, which was performed at temperatures of 6–300 K and magnetic fields of up to 6 T. The field dependence of the resistance R(H) and the temperature dependences of the real, χ″(T), and imaginary, χ″(T), parts of magnetic susceptibility reveal indications of superconducting phase transitions associated with the volume and surface superconductivity of Pb nanopar ticles. The measurements of the field dependence of resistance have been used to set up the H c -T c phase diagram and to carry out a comparison with the study of the heat capacity performed on the same samples.  相似文献

The effect of Ga doping on the temperature dependences (5 K ≤ T ≤ 300 K) of the Seebeck coefficient α, electrical conductivity σ, thermal conductivity coefficient κ, and thermoelectric figure of merit Z of p-(Bi0.5Sb0.5)2Te3 single crystals has been investigated. It has been shown that, upon Ga doping, the hole concentration decreases, the Seebeck coefficient increases, the electrical conductivity decreases, and the thermoelectric figure of merit increases. The observed variations in the Seebeck coefficient cannot be completely explained by the decrease in the hole concentration and indicate a noticeable variation in the density of states due to the Ga doping.  相似文献

The heavy-fermion metal CePd1−x Rh x can be tuned from ferromagnetism at x = 0 to the nonmagnetic state at some critical concentration x c . The non-Fermi liquid behavior (NFL) at xx c is recognized by the power-law dependence of the specific heat C(T) given by the electronic contribution susceptibility X(T) and volume expansion coefficient α(T) at low temperatures: C/TX(T) ∝ α(T)/T∝ 1/ √T. We also demonstrate that the behavior of the normalized effective mass M N * observed in CePd1−x Rh x at x ≃ 0.8 agrees with that of M N * observed in paramagnetic CeRu2Si2 and conclude that these alloys exhibit the universal NFL thermodynamic behavior at their quantum critical points. We show that the NFL behavior of CePd1−x Rh x can be accounted for within the frameworks of the quasiparticle picture and fermion condensation quantum phase transition, while this alloy exhibits a universal thermodynamic NFL behavior that is independent of the characteristic features of the given alloy such as its lattice structure, magnetic ground state, dimension, etc. The text was submitted by the authors in English.  相似文献

The behavior of the low-temperature specific heat C(T) for YBa2Cu3O6 + x single crystals with the doping level corresponding to the normal phase has been studied by the relaxation technique at different values of the applied magnetic field. It has been found that the C(T)/T plot exhibits such an anomaly as a steep increase with decreasing temperature from T about 4 K down to T ≤ 2 K (the minimum temperature value accessible in the experiment). The applied magnetic field as high as 9 T inverts this anomaly and leads to a sharp drop in C(T)/T during cooling within the same temperature range. A model involving the Schottky-type centers formulated in this work and the data on spin correlation functions has allowed us to calculate the temperature dependence of the specific heat, which fits the experimental curves quite well.  相似文献

Magnetization M(H,T) in magnetic fields H up to 90 kOe and at temperatures 2 K ≤ T < T c (where Tc is the superconducting transition temperature), along with magnetic susceptibility χ(T) in the normal state T c < T < 400 K for optimally oxygen-doped samples of YBa2Cu3O6.92 with varying degrees of defects in the crystal structure, are studied to determine the influence of structural inhomogeneity on the electron systems characteristics of cuprate superconductors. It is shown that the existence of structural inhomogeneity of samples leads to the manifestation of peculiarities appropriate to pseudogap regime in their properties.  相似文献

The magnetic properties of the Nd0.5Gd0.5Fe3(BO3)4 single crystal have been studied in principal crystallographic directions in magnetic fields to 90 kG in the temperature range 2–300 K; in addition, the heat capacity has been measured in the range 2–300 K. It has been found that, below the Néel temperature T N = 32 K down to 2 K, the single crystal exhibits an easy-plane antiferromagnetic structure. A hysteresis has been detected during magnetization of the crystal in the easy plane in fields of 1.0–3.5 kG, and a singularity has been found in the temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility in the easy plane at a temperature of 11 K in fields B < 1 kG. It has been shown that the singularity is due to appearance of the hysteresis. The origin of the magnetic properties of the crystal near the hysteresis has been discussed.  相似文献

This paper reports on a study of the low-temperature conductivity and parameters of the superconducting state, namely, the critical temperature T c and the second critical magnetic field Hc2, in the (Pb0.3Sn0.7)0.95In0.05Te solid solution under hydrostatic pressure P ≤ 9 kbar at T = 4.2 K. The choice of this material has been motivated by the fact that, according to earlier observations, it undergoes a superconducting transition at T c ∼ 2.3 K, i.e., close to the maximum value T c ∼ 2.9 K found for the (Pb z Sn1 − z )0.95In0.05Te solid solutions with a lead content z ∼ 0.15–0.25. It has been demonstrated that an increase in the pressure to P ≤ 9 kbar leads to a bell-shaped dependence T c (P). The observed dependences are assigned to the effect of hydrostatic compression on the band structure of the solid solution and indicate a shift in the position of the Fermi level E F with increasing pressure within the impurity band of the In quasi-local states. In this case, E F passes through a maximum in the density of impurity states at P = 3–5 kbar.  相似文献
