The associated production of charmed particles by the interactions of 300 GeV/c protons with complex nuclei has been sought using nuclear emulsions. The failure to observe any candidates for this process among some 60,000 interactions investigated implies, provided charmed particles lifetimes are in the range 10?12 to 10?14 s, a cross section for their associated production by the interactions of 300 GeV/c protons with nucleons of less than 1.5 microbarns at a 90% confidence level.  相似文献

The production of η(550) and ω(780) mesons is studied in π±p interactions at 16 GeV/c and K?p interactions at 10 and 16 GeV/c. Cross sections for exclusive channels are presented, and for the π+p data differential cross sections are given for quasi-inclusive production where the η or ω is required to be accompanied by charged particles only. Close similarities are observed between η, ω and also ?0(770) production in terms of longitudinal and transverse variables. By a rough estimate, the η, ω and ?0 inclusive yields are found to be in the ratio 0.32 : 0.85 : 1, respectively, for 16 GeV/cπ+p collisions. For non-peripheral production we estimate this same ratio to be 0.34 : 0.9 : 1.  相似文献

Experimental data are presented on deuteron production in the target fragmentation region for 250 GeV/c π+ interactions with Al and Au nuclei, and compared with analogous data on proton production. Indications are observed for narrow structures in the (dπ-) effective mass system at ~2.04 and ~2.08 GeV.  相似文献

Inclusive ?0 meson production has been measured in 120 GeV and 280 GeV muon-proton interactions. Distributions of z and pT2 are presented. Primary ?0 production is found to be equal to that of π0 production within errors.  相似文献

A study is presented of the inclusive production cross sections of K(892) vector mesons in pp interactions at 12 and 24 GeV/c and in π+p interactions at 16 GeV/c. The K inclusive cross section is ~0.9 mb for both pp at 24 GeV/c and π+p interactions at 16 GeV/c. For pp interactions, σ(K1+) and σ(K1?) are seen to rise with energy, showing a threshold behaviour. In both pp and π+p interactions, σ(K1+) largely exceeds σ(K1?) at these energies and this excess is interpreted as K1+ production by beam and target fragmentations. The decays of K1±0 yield ~30% of the K0 observed in the final states. The pT2 dependence of both K1+ and K1? cross sections is described by an exponential with slope of ~3.3 (GeV/c)?2. The longitudinal momentum spectra for K1+ in 16 GeV/cπ+p and 24 GeV/c pp interactions are similar in shape in the target hemisphere. The K1? spectra are similar over the whole kinematic region when viewed in the quark c.m.s. and point to a central production mechanism. Comparing K1+ and ρ0 production, striking similarities are found.  相似文献

The contribution of the coalescence mechanism to deuteron production is discussed on the basis of data on inclusive deuteron and proton production in hadron-nucleus interactions. The angular dependence and theA dependence of the coefficient of twonucleon coalescence into a deuteron are analysed for 7.5 GeV/c pA and 5 GeV/cπ ? A interactions. The results suggest an elongated shape of the interaction region along the trajectory of the incident hadron and a successive knock-out of nucleons during propagation of the incident particle through a nucleus.  相似文献

Charged pion production in high energy π-π- interactions is studied in the pT region of 1–2 GeV/c. The characteristics of pion production in π-π- interactions are compared with those in π-p and pp interactions. The pT dependence of pion production in these reactions follows a systematic trend which indicates that high-pT pion production for ππ interactions as well as for πp and pp interactions proceeds via quark-quark scattering as predicted by QCD.  相似文献

The reaction np → dπ+π? was studied from threshold up to 3.5 GeV/c neutron beam momentum. Cross-section values for this reaction are evaluated as a function of the beam momentum. The deuteron production features and the enhancement observed in the dπ mass spectrum at 2.17 GeV are adequately described in terms of an OPE model and nucleon-nucleon final-state interactions.  相似文献

Negative results of a search for heavy quasistable charged leptons at the IHEP accelerator are reported. For the selection of heavy leptons a system of scintillation and gas ?erenkov counters was used. The upper limit estimations of the differential cross sections for heavy lepton production in pN collisions at Ep = 70 GeV are, for example, d2σ/d (p = 30 GeV/c, θ = 2 mrad, 1 ? Mλ ? 4.8 GeV) = 4.10?38 cm2/sr · GeV. The results of the present work, together with the data on muon pair production in nucleon-nucleon interactions, show that there are no heavy charged leptons with masses from 0.55 GeV (τλ > 7 · 10?10 sec) up to 4.5 GeV (τλ > 3 · 10?8 sec).  相似文献

Cross sections, mass spectra, angular distributions and several other features of Ξ? and Ω? production from photons and neutrons in K?d interactions at 4.93 GeV/c are presented. A five standard deviation peak is observed in ΞKπ mass spectra near 2.6 GeV/c2. A sharp rise in the Ξ? three- and four-body cross sections from K?n interactions suggests direct-channel Σ1 (3.0–3.5) formation.  相似文献

The hadronic production of charm particle pairs produced in the forward direction has been investigated in study of μ+μ? pairs with large missing energy (indicative of final-state neutrinos). These events result primarily from two semileptonic decays of charm-anticharm states. A comparison of the data with the prediction of the intrinsic charm diffractive model indicates that diffractive production cross sections are small (of the order of a few μb) in both 350 GeV proton and 278 GeV pion interactions.  相似文献

The inclusive production of resonances is systematically studied in K+p interactions at 32 GeV/c. Total production cross sections are given for three baryon resonances, five vector and three 2+ tensor mesons. We report on double-differential inclusive cross-sections of the production of secondary protons, charged pions, and deuterons, in the interactions with a 5% λ int thick stationary tin target, of proton and pion beams with momentum from ±3 GeV/c to ±15 GeV/c. Results are given for secondary particles with production angles 20<θ<125. Cross-sections on tin nuclei are compared with cross-sections on beryllium, carbon, copper, tantalum and lead nuclei.  相似文献

We have searched for narrow two-body enhancements produced in the forward direction in n-Be interactions near 250 GeV/c. We find no significant signal in any channel and report upper limits for charm production times branching rate to be 200–1000 nb/nucleon for masses in the range 1.7 ? m ? 3.5 GeV/c2.  相似文献

Lambda production in 20 GeV/c π? interactions in hydrogen is studied. The distributions of the ΛO and pion c.m. production angle, transverse momentum and c.m. longitudinal momentum as functions of the charge multiplicity are discussed. The effective-mass distributions are also studied and it is found that Y(1385) production occurs in 18% of the interactions.  相似文献

Experimental results on inclusive ? production are compared with the Lund model for lowp T hadronic interactions. The data is based on a sample of 600,000 ? mesons in the kinematic rangep T <1.0 (GeV/c)2 and 0.0<x F<0.4, produced in π±,K ±,p and \(\bar p\) Be interactions at 100 GeV/c and 120 GeV/c incident momentum. The Lund model reproduces the shapes of the longitudinal differential cross sections reasonably well, but the relative cross sections for incident, π,K andp show a discrepancy with the data.  相似文献

Inclusive production of π? mesons has been studied with 6 and 24 GeV/cπ+ beams interacting in deuterium bubble chambers. The energy dependence of the inclusive spectra is discussed. In comparisons with π+p inclusive interactions, we observe that projectile fragmentation is not independent of the nature of the target at 6 GeV/c. Cross sections and ratios of cross sections are presented. Two-particle correlations are found to be similar at both energies.  相似文献
