A method for simultaneous analysis of V(IV) and Co(II) has been developed by using artificial neural network (ANN). This method is based on the difference of the chemical reaction rate of V(IV) and Co(II) with Fe(III) in the presence of chromogenic reagent, 1,10-phenanthroline. The reduced product of the reaction, Fe(II), can form a colored complex with 1,10-phenanthroline and make a visible spectrophotometric signal for indirect monitoring of the V(IV) and Co(II) concentrations. Feed forward neural networks have been trained to quantify considered metal ions in mixtures under optimum conditions. The networks were shown to be capable of correlating reduced spectral kinetic data using principal component analysis (PCA) of mixtures with individual metal ion. In this way an ANN containing three layers of nodes was trained. Sigmoidal and linear transfer functions were used in the hidden and output layers, respectively, to facilitate nonlinear calibration. Both V(IV) and Co(II) were analyzed in the concentration range of 0.1-4.0 μg ml−1. The proposed method was also applied satisfactorily to the determination of considered metal ions in several synthetic and water samples.  相似文献

Abstract

Cyclic voltammaetry of mixed tin(II)/tin(IV) solutions was investigated in 6M HCl on gold and mercury electrodes. It was found that the reduction of tin(II) to tin(iv) proceeded irreversibly while tin(II) to tin(IV) was reversible. Two forms of tin(IV) are postulated. The peak potential for the reduction of tin(IV) was a function of both tin(II) and tin(IV) while that for the oxidation of tin(II) was a function only of tin(II) concentration Potentials for all oxidations and reductions were a function of potential scan rate.  相似文献

A CE method was developed for the simultaneous determination of Zr(IV) and Hf(IV) at trace levels. A lacunary Keggin-type [PW(11)O(39)](7-) ligand reacted quantitatively with a mixture of trace amounts of Zr(IV) and Hf(IV) to form the so-called ternary Keggin-type anions [P(Zr(IV)W(11))O(40)](5-) and [P(Hf(IV)W(11))O(40)](5-) in 0.010 M monochloroacetate buffer (pH 2.2). Since both ternary anions possessed different electrophoretic mobilities and high molar absorptivities in the UV region, Zr(IV) and Hf(IV) were determined simultaneously with direct UV detection at 258 nm. Each peak height was linearly dependent on the concentration of Zr(IV) or Hf(IV) in the range of 5.0x10(-7)-1.0x10(-5) M; a detection limit of 2x10(-7) M was achieved. The utility of the proposed CE method was demonstrated for the simultaneous determination of Zr(IV) and Hf(IV) in natural water samples with satisfactory results.  相似文献

Two spectrophotometric methods are described for the simultaneous determination of binary mixtures of Sn(II) and Sn(IV) in water samples and fruit juice samples, without prior separation steps, using the mean centering of ratio kinetic profiles and partial least squares (PLS) methods. The methods are based on the difference in the rate of the reactions of Sn(II) and Sn(IV) with pyrocatechol violet at pH 4.0. The methods allow rapid and accurate determination of Sn(II) and Sn(IV). The analytical characteristics of the methods for the simultaneous determination of binary mixtures of Sn(II) and Sn(IV) were calculated. The results showed that the methods were capable to simultaneous determination of 0.1–1.80 mg L−1 each of cations. The proposed methods were successfully applied to the simultaneous determination of Sn(II) and Sn(IV)in an orange juice sample.  相似文献

Naphthaldimines containing N2O2 donor centers react with platinum(II) and (IV) chlorides to give two types of complexes depending on the valence of the platinum ion. For [Pt(II)], the ligand is neutral, [(H2L1)PtCl2]·3H2O (1) and [(H2L3)2Pt2Cl4]·5H2O (3), or monobasic [(HL2)2Pt2Cl2]·2H2O (2) and [(HL4)2Pt]·2H2O (4). These complexes are all diamagnetic having square-planar geometry. For [Pt(IV)], the ligand is dibasic, [(L1)Pt2Cl4(OH)2]·2H2O (5), [(L2)Pt3Cl10]·3H2O (6), [(L3)Pt2Cl4(OH)2]·C2H5OH (7) and [(L4)Pt2Cl6]·H2O (8). The Pt(IV) complexes are diamagnetic and exhibit octahedral configuration around the platinum ion. The complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, UV-Vis and IR spectra, electrical conductivity and thermal analyses (DTA and TGA). The molar conductances in DMF solutions indicate that the complexes are non-ionic. The complexes were tested for their catalytic activities towards cathodic reduction of oxygen.  相似文献

Force field calculations were performed on a series of 27 transition metal complexes of titanium(IV), vanadium(IV/V), copper(II), nickel(II), molybdenum(IV/V), rhenium(IV/V), and tin(IV) with a broad variety of di- or tridentate ligands in order to find a reliable scheme for determining the molecular structure of such chelates with the new Extensible Systematic Force Field (ESFF). A good agreement between theoretical results and experimental data was achieved. In some cases an unspecific fitting of the force field was necessary.  相似文献

The reagent 3,8,13,18-tetramethyl-21H,23H-porphine-2,7,12,17-tetrapropionic acid or coproporphyrin-I (CPI) was used for the spectrophotometric determination of copper(II) and cobalt(II) in the presence of pyridine and imidazole catalysts. Optimum conditions were investigated and the methods were applied to the determination of parts per billion levels of copper(II) and cobalt(II). The Sandell sensitivities of the recommended procedures were 0.568 μm cm−2 and 0.464 μg cm−2 (for A = 0.001) for copper and cobalt, respectively. The relative standard deviations were 2.0% for copper and 1.0% for cobalt. The kinetics of the reaction of CPI with copper(II) and cobalt(II) in the presence of the catalysts and the influence of the temperature were studied, and their kinetic constants determined. The influence of light on the photodecomposition of CPI was also studied.  相似文献

Abstract

An indirect photometric method with a continuous-flow analysis is presented for the determination of trace amounts of vanadium(IV). It is based on the redox reaction of copper(II) with vanadium(1V) in the presence of neocuproine. In the presence of neocuproine, copper(I1) is reduced easily by vanadium(I V) to a copper(1)-neocuproine complex, which shows a n absorption maximum at 454 nm. By measuring t h e absorbance of the complex at this wavelength, vanadium(1V) in t h e range 2×10?6 - 8 × mol dm?5 mol dm?3 can be determined at a rate of 120 samples h?1. The fractional determination of vanadium(1V) and iron(I1) is also studied.  相似文献

Abstract

Gravimetric methods for the determinations of mercury(II) and vanadium(IV) with benzoylacetanilide have been described. These metals have been separated from commonly associated ions and a procedure for the determination of vanadium content of steel has been developed. By these methods, 14 to 50 mg. of mercury and 5 to 20 mg. of vanadium have been estimated with relative standard deviations of 0.18% and 0.10%, respectively.  相似文献

Germanium(II) dipropionate (1) has been synthesized and its crystal structure, as well as that of germanium(IV) tetrapropionate (2), has been determined. By contrast to monomeric 2 with monodentate propionate ligands, compound 1 is associated, forming a cyclotetramer [Ge(O2CEt)2]4 (1a) via intermolecular dative C?O → Ge interactions. Both the accumulation of coal gangue and potentially toxic elements in aqueous solution have caused biological damage to the surrounding ecosystem of the Huainan coal mining field. In this study, coal gangue was used to synthesize calcium silicate hydrate (C-S-H) to remove Cr(VI) and Cu(II)from aqueous solutions and aqueous solution. The optimum parameters for C-S-H synthesis were 700 °C for 1 h and a Ca/Si molar ratio of 1.0. Quantitative sorption analysis was done at variable temperature, C-S-H dosages, solution pH, initial concentrations of metals, and reaction time. The solution pH was precisely controlled by a pH meter. The adsorption temperature was controlled by a thermostatic gas bath oscillator. The error of solution temperature was controlled at ± 0.3, compared with the adsorption temperature. For Cr(VI) and Cu(II), the optimum initial concentration, temperature, and reaction time were 200 mg/L, 40 °C and 90 min, pH 2 and 0.1 g C-S-H for Cr(VI), pH 6 and 0.07 g C-S-H for Cu(II), respectively. The maximum adsorption capacities of Cr(VI) and Cu(II) were 68.03 and 70.42 mg·g−1, respectively. Furthermore, the concentrations of Cu(II) and Cr(VI) in aqueous solution could meet the surface water quality standards in China. The adsorption mechanism of Cu(II) and Cr(VI) onto C-S-H were reduction, electrostatic interaction, chelation interaction, and surface complexation. It was found that C-S-H is an environmentally friendly adsorbent for effective removal of metals from aqueous solution through different mechanisms.  相似文献

Cobalt(II) complexes of N-methyl phenyl, 1-phenylpiperazyl, and morpholinyl dithiocarbamates have been synthesized and characterized by UV–Visible, FTIR, 1H-, 13C-NMR, and mass spectrometry. The spectroscopic data indicated that two ligands coordinated in bidentate chelating to the metal ion to form four-coordinate cobalt(II) complexes (13), which was confirmed by mass analysis (TOF MS ES+) of the complexes with m/z [M]+ = 450.98, 382.94, and 382.94 for 1, 2, and 3, respectively. Single crystal analysis of 2A and 3A show centrosymmetric mononuclear cobalt(III) bonded to three dithiocarbamate ligands forming a distorted octahedral geometry, indicating the cobalt(II) undergoes aerial oxidation to cobalt(III) during recrystallization. In addition, 2A crystallized with one solvated molecule of toluene. The redox behaviors of the complexes were studied by cyclic and square wave voltammetry in dichloromethane; the result revealed a metal centered redox process consisting of a one-electron quasi-reversible process assigned to Co(III)/Co(IV) oxidation and a corresponding Co(IV)/Co(III) reduction. Randles–Sevcik plots (anodic peak current versus the square root of the scan rate (Ip,a versus ν1/2)) for the redox couples revealed diffusion-controlled behavior.  相似文献

New Co(II), Ni(II), and Cu(II) complexes were synthesized with the Schiff base ligand obtained by the condensation of sulfathiazole with salicylaldehyde. Their characterization was performed by elemental analysis, molar conductance, spectroscopic techniques (IR, diffuse reflectance and UV–Vis–NIR), magnetic moments, thermal analysis, and calorimetry (thermogravimetry/derivative thermogravimetry/differential scanning calorimetry), while their morphological and crystal systems were explained on the basis of powder X-ray diffraction results. The IR data indicated that the Schiff base ligand is tridentate coordinated to the metallic ion with two N atoms from azomethine group and thiazole ring and one O atom from phenolic group. The composition of the complexes was found to be of the [ML2]∙nH2O (M = Co, n = 1.5 (1); M = Ni, n = 1 (2); M = Cu, n = 4.5 (3)) type, having an octahedral geometry for the Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes and a tetragonally distorted octahedral geometry for the Cu(II) complex. The presence of lattice water molecules was confirmed by thermal analysis. XRD analysis evidenced the polycrystalline nature of the powders, with a monoclinic structure. The unit cell volume of the complexes was found to increase in the order of (2) < (1) < (3). SEM evidenced hard agglomerates with micrometric-range sizes for all the investigated samples (ligand and complexes). EDS analysis showed that the N:S and N:M atomic ratios were close to the theoretical ones (1.5 and 6.0, respectively). The geometric and electronic structures of the Schiff base ligand 4-((2-hydroxybenzylidene) amino)-N-(thiazol-2-yl) benzenesulfonamide (HL) was computationally investigated by the density functional theory (DFT) method. The predictive molecular properties of the chemical reactivity of the HL and Cu(II) complex were determined by a DFT calculation. The Schiff base and its metal complexes were tested against some bacterial strains (Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, and Bacillus subtilis). The results indicated that the antibacterial activity of all metal complexes is better than that of the Schiff base.  相似文献

Redox potentials of a series of complexes of cobalt(II) and organocobalt(III) with tetraazamacrocyclic (N4) and N2O2-noncyclic polychelate ligands have been determined by cyclic voltammetry. Introduction of ano-phenylene fragment instead of an ethylene fragment into an equatorial ligand and/or exchange of an N4-coordination chromophore for the N2O2-analog has been shown to result in the anodic shift of redox potentials of MeCo(IV)L/ MeCo(III)L, MeCo(III)L/MeCo(II)L, and Co(II)L/Co(I)L pairs. It has been established that the solvent effect on redox potential is larger for Co(III)L/Co(II)L than for other pairs. Apparently, this is the first case when quasi-reversible stages of oxidation of MeCo(III)L to MeCo(IV)L+ and MeCo(IV)L+ to [MeCo(IV)L]2+ can be simultaneously observed. A. relatively stable complex of methylcobalt(IV) with a long lifetime at 20 °C has been registered by the ESR method.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. Adsorption behaviors of 25 anions to zirconium(IV) and titanium(IV) chemically immobilized on a gel-phase were studied by ion chromatography and by batch adsorption experiments. The affinities of Zr(IV) to iminodiacetate as an anchoring group and to anions as a sample are much stronger than those of Ti(IV). On a Zr(IV) column, fourteen anions showed no retention, four anions showed pH-dependent retention in a low pH region, and seven anions were irreversibly adsorbed at pH <7. In the last group, fluoride was adsorbed both by the ligand exchange mechanism and the addition mechanism, while phosphate, arsenate and selenite were only by the ligand exchange mechanism. The structures of the adsorbed species are discussed.  相似文献

Abstract

The polarographic reduction and determination of selenite ions in absence and presence of a mixture of some cationic species such as, Pb(II), Zn(II) and Sb(III) in N-(2-acetamido) imino diacetate solutions, at constants of ionic strength 0.1 mol dm?3 (KNO3) and temperature 25°C was studied using direct current and differential pulse polarographic (DPP) techniques. It was shown that reduction of Se(IV) takes place along one, two or three waves depending on the pH value of the solution using the direct current polarographic measurements. The reduction of Se(IV) in N-(2-acetamido) imino diacetate buffer solutions was found to be reversible and involving six electron transfer process. Microcoulometric experiments was performed at the limiting current region of the different waves and at various pH values. Kinetic parameters and wave characteristics for the reduction of selenite ions have been calculated. A method for the analytical determination of selenite ions in either simple or quadruple mixture of ADA buffer solutions using DPP techniques are reported and discussed.  相似文献

Two pentadentate ligands built on the 2-aminomethylpiperidine structure and bearing two tertiary amino and three oxygen donors (three carboxylates in the case of AMPTA and two carboxylates and one phenolate for AMPDA-HB) were developed for Mn(II) complexation. Equilibrium studies on the ligands and the Mn(II) complexes were carried out using pH potentiometry, 1H-NMR spectroscopy and UV-vis spectrophotometry. The Mn complexes that were formed by the two ligands were more stable than the Mn complexes of other pentadentate ligands but with a lower pMn than Mn(EDTA) and Mn(CDTA) (pMn for Mn(AMPTA) = 7.89 and for Mn(AMPDA-HB) = 7.07). 1H and 17O-NMR relaxometric studies showed that the two Mn-complexes were q = 1 with a relaxivity value of 3.3 mM−1 s−1 for Mn(AMPTA) and 3.4 mM−1 s−1 for Mn(AMPDA-HB) at 20 MHz and 298 K. Finally, the geometries of the two complexes were optimized at the DFT level, finding an octahedral coordination environment around the Mn2+ ion, and MD simulations were performed to monitor the distance between the Mn2+ ion and the oxygen of the coordinated water molecule to estimate its residence time, which was in good agreement with that determined using the 17O NMR data.  相似文献

Abstract

The stepwise complex formation between 2-amino-2-hydroxymethyl-1,3-propanediol (TRIS) with Co(II) and Mn(II) was studied by potentiometry at constant ionic strength 2.0 M (NaClO4) and T = (25.0 ± 0.1)°C, from pH measurements. Data of average ligand number (Bjerrum's function) were obtained from such measurements followed by integration to obtain Leden's function, F 0(L). Graphical treatment and matrix solution of simultaneous equations have shown two overall stability constants of mononuclear stepwise complexes for the Mn(II)/TRIS system (β1 = (5.04 ± 0.02) M?1 and β2 = (5.4 ± 0.5) M?2) and three for the Co(II)/TRIS system (β1 = (1.67 ± 0.02) × 102 M?1, β2 = (7.01 ± 0.05) × 103 M?2 and β3 = (2.4 ± 0.4) × 104 M?3). Slow spontaneous oxidation of Co(II) solutions by dissolved oxygen, accelerated by S(IV), occurs in a buffer solution TRIS/HTRIS+ 0.010/0.030 M, with a synergistic effect of Mn(II).  相似文献

The reaction of 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-carboxylphenyl)porphyrin (TCPP) with Cd(II), Pb(II), Hg(II) and Zn(II) was studied spectrophotometrically and kinetics, equilibrium constants as well as photodecomposition of complexes were determined. It was verified that these metal ions with large radius accelerate the incorporation reaction of zinc into TCPP. On the basis of the mechanism and kinetics of this reaction, a sensitive method for the spectrophotometric determination of trace amounts of Zn(II) has been developed. The molar absorptivity of examined Zn-TCPP complex and Sandell's sensitivity at 423 nm were 3.5×105 M−1 cm−1 and 18.3 ng cm−2. The detection limit for the recommended procedure was 1.4×10−9 M (0.9 ng ml−1) and precision in range 20-100 ng ml−1 not exceeds 2.7% RSD. The proposed method applied for zinc determination in natural waters and nutritional supplement was compared with AAS results and declared value.  相似文献
