Zirconia/polydopamine (ZrO2/PDA) nanocomposite multilayer films were constructed on Si substrate via a novel nonelectrostatic layer‐by‐layer (NELBL) assembly technique. The building block of this technique is the newly reported dopamine molecule, which can be attached to almost all material surfaces and undergo oxidation‐polymerization to form PDA layers; more importantly, the outer hydroxyl groups of the PDA layer can chelated with certain inorganic oxide nanoparticles to generate oxide films. Thus, ZrO2/PDA nanocomposite multilayer films were fabricated by sequential NELBL deposition of PDA and ZrO2 nanoparticles. The formation of the ZrO2/PDA nanocomposite multilayer films was monitored by the water contact angle (WCA) and ellipsometric thickness measurements, while the microstructure of the fabricated films was analyzed by means of atomic force microscope (AFM), field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM), X‐ray photoelectron spectrum (XPS), and X‐ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. The mechanical and anticorrosion behaviors of the annealed ZrO2/PDA nanocomposite multilayers were found to be greatly enhanced as compared with that of the annealed homogeneous ZrO2 film. The better mechanical and anticorrosion behaviors of the annealed ZrO2/PDA nanocomposite multilayers than the annealed homogeneous ZrO2 film may be closely related to their special microstructure. Namely, the organic–inorganic hybrid microstructure of the annealed ZrO2/PDA nanocomposite multilayers may largely account for the increased nanohardness and corrosion resistance. New polypyrrole (PPy)-derived polymer/ZrO2 nanocomposite materials are prepared by single-step oxidative polymerization of pyrrole (Py) and/or N-methylpyrrole (mPy) in the presence of HCl-functionalized ZrO2 nanoparticles and ammonium persulfate. The physicochemical features of the PPy–ZrO2, poly(Py-co-mPy)–ZrO2 and PmPy–ZrO2 hybrids were analyzed by XPS, FTIR, XRD and UV–Vis techniques. To explore the advantages of these nanocomposites for potential applications, their thermal, conductive and electrochemical properties were investigated. The characterization reveals that a chemical bonding, based on electrostatic interactions, is established between the polymers and the ZrO2 nanoparticles. Interestingly, it is found that the growth of polymer on the surface of Cl-functionalized ZrO2 becomes more significant as the Py moiety (–NH– species) content in the polymer increases. The thermal stability and conductivity of the polymers increase by hybridization with the ZrO2 nanoparticles. This is assigned to the affective interaction of the polymers with the ZrO2 nanoparticles. Particularly, the resulting nanocomposites keep high conductivities, ranging between 0.323 and 0.929 S cm−1. Finally, voltammetric characterization shows that the PPy–ZrO2 and poly(Py-co-mPy)–ZrO2 nanocomposites are electroactive, thus demonstrating their capability for electrochemical applications. These results highlight the great influence of the nanoparticle interface and the nature of monomer on the nanocomposite formation and properties.

Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)/ZrO2-based hybrid thin films, with suitable properties for application in the high power lasers, have been prepared combining the advantages of both the sol–gel route and the organic-inorganic hybrid materials. By virtue of light scattering analysis, the chemical composition of the reaction system was fully optimized, endowing the films with good optical properties and high laser-induced damage threshold (LIDT). Light scattering studies also provided valuable structural information about the hybrid sols, which offered a better understanding of the structure and performance of the hybrid films. Our experiments showed that, in the hybrid sols, the incomplete substitution for the chelating ligands by the hydroxyls might considerably conceal and weaken the effect of PVP on the nucleation and growth of ZrO2 particles. Thus, the incorporation of PVP only resulted in slight decreases in the refractive index and LIDT of the films. By energy relaxation through their flexible polymer chains, however, the addition of PVP could easily enhance the stress compatibility between the high- and low-index layers and then facilitate the deposition of the multi-layer highly reflective mirrors.  相似文献

The effect of the chain constraint on the glass‐transition temperature of polystyrene (pS) was studied in the context of polymer tethering to curved surfaces. The synthesis and characterization of silica‐graft‐polystyrene (SiO2g‐pS) hybrid nanoparticles is reported. Silica nanoparticles possessing covalently bound pS chains were prepared by the atom transfer radical polymerization of styrene from functionalized colloidal surfaces. These hybrid nanoparticles serve as interesting examples of spherical polymer brushes, as a high density of grafted pS was achieved on the inorganic colloid. The confirmation of a brushlike extension of immobilized chains in a good solvent was obtained with dynamic light scattering in toluene of SiO2g‐pS colloids possessing various molar masses of tethered pS. The solid‐state morphology of SiO2g‐pS ultrathin films was assessed with transmission electron microscopy, and this confirmed that the silica colloids were well‐dispersed in a matrix of the tethered polymer. Differential scanning calorimetry was used to study the effects of tethering and chain immobilization on the glass‐transition temperature of pS. The measured glass‐transition temperature of annealed bulk films of the hybrid nanoparticles was elevated with respect to the value for pure bulk pS. The enhancements ranged from 13 to 2 K for SiO2g‐pS brushes possessing tethered pS with number‐average molecular weights of 5230 and 32,670 g/mol, respectively. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Summary: Polymer particles decorated with metal nanoparticles were prepared by UV-irradiation of polystyrene latex particles incorporating polymethylphenylsilane (PS/PMPS) and P[S-co-NIPAM]/PMPS particles (NIPAM: N-isopropyl acrylamide) in the presence of metal salts. The metal nanoparticle/polymer hybrid particles were used as a catalyst for the reduction of 4-nitrophenol with NaBH4. The Pd- and Ag-P(S-co-NIPAM)/PMPS hybrid particles had larger metal nanoparticles and the lower catalytic activity than those of Pd- and Ag-PS/PMPS, respectively. The surface functional group of the polymer particles affected the formation of the metal nanoparticles and their catalytic activity.  相似文献

Nanocrystalline as well as submicron sized, non-agglomerated, spherical ZrO2 particles have been successfully synthesized using the sol-gel technique utilizing hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) as a polymeric steric stabilizer. The effect of various parameters such as the ratio of molar concentration of water and alkoxide (R), the molar concentration [HPC] and the molecular weight (MWHPC) of HPC polymer as well as the calcination temperature on ZrO2 nanocrystallites size and their phase evolution behavior is systematically studied. The phase evolution behavior of nanocrystalline ZrO2 is explained and correlated with the adsorption behavior of HPC polymer on ZrO2 nanoparticles surface, which is observed to be a function of R, [HPC], MWHPC and the calcination temperature. Optimum synthesis parameters for obtaining 100% tetragonal phase in nanocrystalline ZrO2 are identified for the present sol-gel method of synthesizing nanoparticles.  相似文献

Hybrid coatings based on organically modified silicate (Ormosil)/ZrO2 (0–1.0 wt %) and Ormosil/MO2 (M = Ti or Ce) were synthesized through a sol–gel technique. Tetraethylenepentamine, 3‐glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane, tetraethoxysilane, and MO2 (M = Zr, Ti, or Ce) metallic particle were used as precursors for the hybrid coatings. These hybrid films were deposited via spin coating onto an aluminum alloy to improve the corrosion protection. The effects induced by the ZrO2 content and the metallic particle type on the chain dynamics, thermal stability, and corrosion performance of the coated samples were investigated. The rotating‐frame spin–lattice relaxation times and scale of the spin–diffusion path length indicated that the configuration of the hybrid films was highly crosslinked and dense and adhered to the aluminum alloy substrates. The thermal stability and the apparent activation energy, evaluated by van Krevelen's method, of the hybrid coatings depended on the ZrO2 content and on the metallic particle type. Potentiodynamic and salt‐spray analysis revealed that the hybrid films provided exceptional barrier and corrosion protection in comparison with untreated aluminum alloy substrates. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Poly(4,4??-oxydiphenylenepyromellitimide) is used as a polymer matrix for incorporation of zirconia nanoparticles with different compositions (ZrO2 and Y0.03Zr0.97O1.985), sizes (20 ± 5 and 10 ± 2 nm), and morphologies (spheres, hollow spheres, rods). The nanoparticles are incorporated during the synthesis of poly(amido acid), a prepolymer of polyimide, and ZrO2 nanoparticles are pretreated with organosilicon compounds (tetraethoxysilane, ??-aminopropyltriethoxysilane, and 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate). The effect of surface modification of ZrO2 nanoparticles on their distribution in poly(4,4??-oxydiphenylenepyromellitimide), depending on the type of the organosilicon compound as well as on the dispersity, shape, and chemical composition of particles, is studied.  相似文献

A new approach for the fabrication of transparent, antireflective, conductive and superhydrophilic multifunctional hybrid films through the layer‐by‐layer (LbL) assembly of reduced graphene oxide (RGO) nanosheets and SiO2 nanoparticles is reported. The RGO nanosheets, SiO2 nanoparticles and films were characterized by means of transmission electron microscopy, UV/Vis absorption spectrophotometry, Raman spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy, contact angle/interface system, and a four‐point probe. It was found that the graphene/SiO2 hybrid films exhibited a significant increase in transmittance as compared with RGO films. The optical, electronic and wetting properties of hybrid films could be manipulated by rational design of the film structure and variation of the cycle number of the LbL assembly. The obtained transparent, conductive, and superhydrophilic graphene/SiO2 hybrid films showed excellent antireflective, antistatic, and antifogging behaviors. The remarkable performance could be attributed to the combination of electrical conductivity of RGO nanosheets and superhydrophilic antireflective surface derived from SiO2 nanoparticles.  相似文献

Poly(l-lactic acid)-TiO2 nanoparticle nanocomposite films were prepared by incorporating surface modified TiO2 nanoparticles into polymer matrices. In the process of preparing the nanocomposite films, severe aggregation of TiO2 nanoparticles could be reduced by surface modification by using carboxylic acid and long-chain alkyl amine. As a result, the nanocomposite films with high transparency, similar to pure PLA films, were obtained without depending on the amount of added TiO2 nanoparticles. A TEM micrograph of the nanocomposite films suggests that the TiO2 nanoparticles of 3-6 nm in diameter were uniformly dispersed in polymer matrices. Photodegradation of PLA-TiO2 nanoparticle nanocomposite films was also investigated. The results showed that nanocomposite films could be efficiently photodegraded by UV irradiation in comparison with pure PLA.  相似文献

Crystalline ZrO2 nanoparticles were prepared from zirconium isopropoxide by slow hydrolysis and subsequent hydrothermal treatment of solutions containing various amounts of sodium hydroxide at 180 °C. Whereas moderately basic solutions lead to the formation of nanoparticles of monoclinic ZrO2 with plate-like morphology, and nanoparticles of the cubic ZrO2 high-temperature polymorph with diameters of approx. 5 nm were obtained from strongly basic solutions. The morphology, structure and properties of as-synthesized nanoparticles were characterized using HRTEM, XRD, Raman spectroscopy, UV–vis, PL spectroscopy and BET measurements. The formation of both, the monoclinic and the cubic polymorph, was confirmed by electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy. The crystallinity and morphology of the resulting ZrO2 nanoparticles can be adjusted by the choice of the reaction conditions. The cubic ZrO2 nanoparticles have a high surface area (300 m2/g) and exhibit a strong photoluminescence in the UV region.  相似文献

Au nanoparticles dispersed ZrO2 thin films were prepared from two precursors HAuCl4·4H2O and ZrOCl2·8H2O in air. The structural properties and size of Au particle in ZrO2 film were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The surface analysis with atomic force microscopy (AFM) showed the effect of monoethanolamine on preventing the migration of Au particles to the surface. The absorption peak of Au particles by the surface plasma resonance was observed and the red shift of absorption peak was discussed.  相似文献

Polymer/SiO2 nanocomposite microspheres were prepared by double in situ miniemulsion polymerization in the presence of methyl methacrylate, butyl acrylate, γ‐methacryloxy(propyl) trimethoxysilane, and tetraethoxysilane (TEOS). By taking full advantage of phase separation between the growing polymer particles and TEOS, inorganic/polymer microspheres were fabricated successfully in a one‐step process with the formation of SiO2 particles and the polymerization of organic monomers taking place simultaneously. The morphology of nanocomposite microspheres and the microstructure, mechanical properties, thermal properties, and optical properties of the nanocomposite films were characterized and discussed. The results showed that hybrid microspheres had a raspberry‐like structure with silica nanoparticles on the shells of polymer. The silica particles of about 20 nm were highly dispersed within the nanocomposite films without aggregations. The transmittance of nanocomposite film was comparable to that of the copolymer film at around 70–80% from 400 to 800 nm. The mechanical properties and the fire‐retardant behavior of the polymer matrix were improved by the incorporation of silica nanoparticles. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The surface grafting onto ultrafine silica via reverse ATRP of methyl methacrylate initiated by peroxide groups introduced onto the surface and conventional ATRP of Styrene initiated by the hybrid nanoparticles were investigated. The introduction of peroxide groups onto the silica surface was achieved by the reaction of hydrogen peroxide with chlorosilyl groups, which were introduced by the treatment of silica with thionyl chloride. Well-defined polymer chains were grown from the nanoparticle surfaces to yield individual particles composed of a silica core and a well-defined, densely grafted outer polymer layer. The polymerization was closely controlled in solution at quite low temperature such as 70 °C. In both cases, linear kinetic plots, linear plots of molecular weight (Mn) versus conversion, in hydrodynamic diameter with increasing conversion, and narrow molecular weight distributions (Mw/Mn) for the grafted polymer samples were observed. Hydrolysis of silica cores by hydrofluoric acid treatment enabled characterization of cleaved polymer using GPC. Ultrathin films of hybrid nanoparticles were examined using TEM and AFM.  相似文献

The morphology and adhesive properties of waterborne films from n-butyl acrylate/methyl methacrylate/montmorillonite clay hybrid polymer latexes which were synthesized by miniemulsion polymerization in the presence of a reactive organoclay ((2-methacryloylethyl) hexadecyldimethylammonium modified montmorillonite, CMA16) were investigated. It was found by cryo-TEM analysis that the hybrid dispersions were a mixture of colloidal particles composed of a small fraction of free montmorillonite clay platelets, polymer latex particles, polymer particles to which one or more clay platelets where adhered onto its surface and a fraction of colloidal material consisted of a clay platelet with a polymer lob adhered to either side, in other words hybrid particles with a dumbbell-like morphology. The films made from these waterborne hybrid dispersions presented a homogeneous dispersion of the clay platelets and exfoliated morphology. The shear adhesion failure temperature (SAFT) and shear resistance of the hybrid latex films synthesized with CMA16 were better than those prepared with a commercial clay (Cloisite 30B), but presented a liquid-like probe-tack performance. When allyl methacrylate (AMA) was added in the formulation, SAFT and shear resistance improved, but the film had a very low energy of adhesion due to the excessively crosslinked matrix. In order to reduce crosslink density and thus improve the adhesion energy, small amounts of chain transfer agent, in this case n-dodecyl mercaptan (n-DDM), were used in the miniemulsion polymerization process. Adhesive films made from these waterborne hybrid dispersions showed excellent SAFT and shear resistance, and good energy of adhesion.   相似文献

First report on the preparation of well-dispersed, indium(III) oxide (In2O3) nanoparticles with 22–35?nm size by polymer thermolysis is presented. Indium–poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) coordination polymer films were prepared by ‘solution casting technique’ from the homogeneous aqueous solution of coordination polymer prepared using PVA and indium(III) nitrate as starting materials; subsequently the films were calcined at 550?°C to yield In2O3 nanoparticles. Both indium–PVA coordination polymer that served as the precursor and the titled nanoparticles were characterized by Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy, photoluminescence (PL), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy, and thermal analysis. Room temperature PL spectra of the prepared indium oxide nanoparticles showed intense blue emissions around 360, 410 and 430?nm, characteristic of indium oxide nanoparticles due to oxygen vacancies. The lower energy PL emission decreases with an increase of indium(III) content in the precursor. The size of the nanoparticles calculated from line broadening of XRD pattern (cubic; JCPDS: 06-0416) was found to be around 24?nm. The average particle size of the synthesized nanoparticles increased with metal ion content in the precursor coordination polymer.  相似文献

Organic silicones have been used as encapsulant materials for light‐emitting diodes (LEDs) for many years, while their performances need to be improved in order to satisfy the requirements of high‐power LEDs. A ZrO2/silicone hybrid resin (ZHR) was synthesized for LEDs encapsulation by in situ sol‐gel reactions. The oligosiloxane was synthesized as polymeric matrix by nonaqueous sol‐gel condensation using diphenylsilanediol (DPSD), vinyltrimethoxysilane (VTMS), and 3‐methacryloxy propyl trimethoxysilane (MPTMS) as monomers. Then zirconium propoxide was added into this polymeric matrix to be hydrolyzed to obtain the hybrid resin with a uniform dispersion of ZrO2 nanoparticles. The Si–O–Zr covalent bond was detected and benefited for excellent dispersibility of the ZrO2 nanoparticles and the well compatibility between organic and inorganic phases. The cured ZHR with 5 wt% ZrO2 content showed high light transmittance (greater than 80% in visible light range), high refractive index (=1.56), and high thermal stability (no yellowing at 150°C for 240 hours). The luminous flux of the LED chip with ZHR encapsulant was 10% higher than that of the pure silicone resin, suggesting that ZHR has great application potential in the field of LED packaging.  相似文献

The central challenge that has limited the development of catalytic hydrogenation of diene‐based polymer latex (i.e., latex hydrogenation) in large‐scale production pertains to how to accomplish the optimal interplay of accelerating the hydrogenation rate, decreasing the required quantity of catalyst, and eliminating the need for an organic solvent. Here, we attempt to overcome this dilemma through decreasing the dimensions of the polymer substrate (such as below 20 nm) used in the hydrogenation process. Very small diene‐based polymer nanoparticles were synthesized and then used as the substrates for the subsequent latex hydrogenation. The effects of particle size, temperature, and catalyst concentration on the hydrogenation rate were fully investigated. An apparent first‐order kinetic model was proposed to describe the rate of hydrogen uptake with respect to the concentration of the olefinic substrate (C?C). Mass transfer of both the hydrogen and catalyst involved in this solid (polymer)–liquid (water)–gas (hydrogen) three‐phase latex system is discussed. The competitive coordination of the catalyst between the C?C and acrylonitrile units within the copolymer was elucidated. It was found that (1) using very small diene‐based polymer nanoparticles as the substrate, the hydrogenation rate of polymer latex can be increased vastly to achieve a high conversion of 95% while a quite low level of catalyst loading is required; (2) this latex hydrogenation process was completely free of organic solvent and no cross‐linking was found; (3) the mass transfer of hydrogen is not a rate‐determining step in the present hydrogenation reactions; (4) the catalyst was dispersed homogeneously within the polymer nanoparticles; (5) for the reaction that has reached about 95 mol % conversion, the kinetic study shows that the reaction is chemically controlled with an apparent activation energy of 100–110 kJ/mol; (6) the strong coordination of C[tbond]N to the catalytically active species RhH2Cl(PPh3)2 imposed a negative effect on the hydrogenation activity. The present research provides a comprehensive study to appreciate the underlying chemistry of latex hydrogenation of diene‐based polymer nanoparticles and more importantly shows great promise toward the commercialization of a “green” catalytic hydrogenation operation of a diene‐based polymer latex in industry. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The Pd, AuPd, and ZrO2 nanoparticle–decorated functionalised multiwalled carbon nanotubes (f‐MWCNTs) were reported as efficient catalysts of formic acid (FA) electro‐oxidation. Different preparation conditions influence their chemical and structural properties analysed by X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy aided with the quantitative analysis of surfaces by electron spectroscopy. Different reduction procedures such as NaBH4, a polyol microwave‐assisted method (PMWA), and a high pressure microwave reactor (HPMWR) were applied for decorating ZrO2/f‐MWCNTs with Pd and AuPd nanoparticles. The ZrO2 nanoparticles are attached through oxygen groups to the surface of f‐MWCNTs. In NaBH4 and HPMWR procedures, Pd nanoparticles precipitate predominantly on ZrO2 of nearly nominal stoichiometry, whereas in PMWA procedure, Pd and AuPd nanoparticles precipitate predominantly on the surface of f‐MWCNTs, bridging with oxygen groups and ZrOx (x < 2) and leading to Pd‐O‐Zr phase formation. Strong reducing procedures (NaBH4 and FA) led to smaller Pd nanoparticle size, Pd oxide content, and PdOx overlayer thickness in contrary to weak reduction procedures (HPMWR and PMWA). The highest content of Pd‐O‐Zr phase appeared for Pd predominant precipitation on ZrO2 nanoparticles (HPMWR) in contrary to Pd and AuPd predominant precipitation on surface of f‐MWCNTs (NaBH4 ~ FA > PMWA). Larger content of Pd‐O‐Zr phase in AuPd‐decorated ZrO2/f‐MWCNTs in contrary to Pd‐decorated sample (PMWA) could be justified by different electronic properties of nanoparticles. The FA treatment of Pd and AuPd‐ZrO2/f‐MWCNTs samples provided decreasing Pd oxide content, overlayer thickness, nanoparticle size, increasing nanoparticle surface coverage and density, amount of Pd‐O‐Zr, what results from reduction of oxygen groups bridging with Pd and ZrOx nanoparticles, also through Pd‐O‐Zr phase.  相似文献
