The infrared spectra (3500-50 cm-1) of gas and solid and the Raman spectrum (3500-50 cm-1) of liquid 2-fluorobutane, CH3CHFCH2CH3, have been recorded. Variable temperature studies over the range -105 to -150 degrees C of the infrared spectra (3500-400 cm-1) of the sample dissolved in liquid krypton have also been recorded. By utilizing the relative intensities of six conformer pairs each for both Me-trans/F-trans and Me-trans/H-trans, the Me-trans conformer is found to be the lowest energy form with an enthalpy difference to the F-trans conformer of 102 +/- 10 cm-1 ( 1.21+/- 0.12 kJmol-1) whereas the H-trans conformer is the highest energy form with an enthalpy difference of 208 +/- 21 cm-1 ( 2.49 +/- 0.25 kJmol-1) higher than the Me-trans form. At ambient temperature, it is estimated that there is 50 +/- 2% of the Me-trans form, 31 +/- 1% of the F-trans form, and 19 +/- 1% of the H-trans conformer present. Equilibrium geometries and total energies of the three conformers have been determined by ab initio calculations with full electron correlation by the perturbation method to second order using a number of basis sets. A complete vibrational assignment is proposed for the Me-trans conformer and many of the fundamentals have been identified for the other two forms based on the force constants, relative infrared and Raman intensities, and depolarization ratios obtained from MP2/6-31Gd ab initio calculations. The spectroscopic and theoretical results are compared to the corresponding properties for some similar molecules.  相似文献

The infrared spectra of solid and gaseous dimethylaminodichloroarsine have been recorded from 4000 to 33 cm−1. The Raman spectra of the liquid and solid phases have also been recorded. A comparison of the Raman spectra of the liquid and solid indicates that there is a change in conformational composition between the two phases. The isomer present at room temperature in the liquid and gas phases is assigned to the trans form. A study of the temperature dependence of the intensities of the Raman spectrum indicates that the trans form is converted to a second isomer which is believed to be the gauche isomer as the temperature is decreased. At −190°C, the Raman intensities indicate that the molecule still exists as a mixture of these two isomers. A vibrational assignment is presented and discussed in detail.  相似文献

2-Indanol in its most stable form is stabilized by internal hydrogen bonding, which exists between the hydroxyl hydrogen atom and the pi-cloud of the benzene ring. A comprehensive ab initio calculation using the MP2/cc-pVTZ level of theory showed that 2-indanol can exist in four possible conformations, which can interchange through the ring-puckering vibration and the internal rotation of the OH group on the five-membered ring. A potential energy surface in terms of these two vibrational coordinates was calculated. Density functional theory calculations were used to predict the vibrational frequencies and to help in normal mode assignments. Fluorescence excitation spectra of 2-indanol confirm the presence of the four conformers in the electronic ground and excited states. The spectral intensities indicate that, at 90 degrees C, 82% of the molecules exist in its most stable form with the intramolecular hydrogen bonding. The other isomers are present at approximately 11, 5, and 3%. The MP2/6-311++G(d,p) calculation predicts a distribution of 70, 13, 9, and 8% at 90 degrees C, the experimental sample temperature.  相似文献

The FT-IR and FT-Raman vibrational spectra of 1,3-dichlorobenzene (1,3-DCB) have been recorded using Bruker IFS 66 V Spectrometer in the range 4000-100 cm(-1). A detailed vibrational spectral analysis has been carried out and assignments of the observed fundamental bands have been proposed on the basis of peak positions and relative intensities. The optimized molecular geometry, vibrational frequencies, atomic charges, dipole moment, rotational constants and several thermodynamic parameters in the ground state were calculated using ab initio Hartree-Fock (HF) and DFT (B3LYP) methods with 6-31++G (d, p) and 6-311++G (d, p) basis sets. With the help of different scaling factors, the observed vibrational wave numbers in FT-IR and FT-Raman spectra were analyzed and assigned to different normal modes of the molecule. Most of the modes have wave numbers in the expected range. The inductive effect of Chlorine atoms in the benzene molecule has also been investigated.  相似文献

The FT-IR and FT-Raman vibrational spectra of 2,3-naphthalenediol (C(10)H(8)O(2)) have been recorded using Bruker IFS 66V spectrometer in the range of 4000-100 cm(-1) in solid phase. A detailed vibrational spectral analysis has been carried out and the assignments of the observed fundamental bands have been proposed on the basis of peak positions and relative intensities. The optimized molecular geometry and vibrational frequencies in the ground state are calculated by using the ab initio Hartree-Fock (HF) and DFT (LSDA and B3LYP) methods with 6-31+G(d,p) and 6-311+G(d,p) basis sets. There are three conformers, C1, C2 and C3 for this molecule. The computational results diagnose the most stable conformer of title molecule as the C1 form. The isotropic computational analysis showed good agreement with the experimental observations. Comparison of the fundamental vibrational frequencies with calculated results by HF and DFT methods. Comparison of the simulated spectra provides important information about the capability of computational method to describe the vibrational modes. A study on the electronic properties, such as absorption wavelengths, excitation energy, dipole moment and Frontier molecular orbital energies, are performed by time dependent DFT approach. The electronic structure and the assignment of the absorption bands in the electronic spectra of steady compounds are discussed. The calculated HOMO and LUMO energies show that charge transfer occurs within the molecule. On the basis of the thermodynamic properties of the title compound at different temperatures have been calculated. The statistical thermodynamic properties (standard heat capacities, standard entropies, and standard enthalpy changes) and their correlations with temperature have been obtained from the theoretical vibrations.  相似文献

The infrared (3100-40 cm(-1)) spectra of gaseous and solid and Raman (3200-20 cm(-1)) spectra of liquid with qualitative depolarization values and solid n-propyltrifluorosilane, CH(3)CH(2)CH(2)SiF(3), have been recorded. Additionally the infrared spectra of the sample in nitrogen and argon matrices have been recorded. Both the anti and gauche conformers have been identified in the fluid phases but only the anti conformer remains in the solid. Variable temperature (-105 to -150 degrees C) studies of the infrared spectra of the sample dissolved in liquid krypton have been recorded and the enthalpy difference has been determined to be 135+/-14 cm(-1) (1.62+/-0.17 kJ mol(-1)) with the anti conformer the more stable form. At ambient temperature it is estimated that there is 51+/-2% of the gauche conformer present. Also the enthalpy difference in the liquid was obtained from variable temperature studies of the Raman spectra and from three conformer pairs an average value of 179+/-18 cm(-1) (2.14+/-0.22 kJ mol(-1)) was obtained again with the anti form the more stable conformer. Relatively complete vibrational assignments are proposed for both conformers based on the relative infrared and Raman spectral intensities, infrared band contours, depolarization ratios which are supported by normal coordinate calculations. The geometrical parameters, harmonic force constants, vibrational frequencies, infrared intensities, Raman activities, depolarization ratios, and energy differences have been obtained for the anti and gauche conformers from ab initio MP2/6-31G(d) calculations. Structural parameters and energy differences have also been obtained utilizing the larger 6-311+G(d, p) and 6-311+G(2d, 2p) basis sets. By utilizing the previously reported microwave rotational constants for five isotopomers of CH(3)SiF(3) along with ab initio predicted structural values, r(0) parameters have been obtained for methyltrifluorosilane. Similarly, from the ab initio predicted parameters "adjusted r(0)" parameters have been estimated for both conformers of n-propyltrifluorosilane. The results are discussed and compared with those obtained for some similar molecules.  相似文献

The authors have investigated the conformational structure of the ferroelectric liquid crystal compound 4-3-methyl-2-chloropentanoyloxy-4"-hexyloxy-biphenyl also known under the abbreviations 3M2CPHOB and C6 using vibrational (IR and Raman) spectroscopy. The measured spectra exhibit two bands corresponding to the C=O stretching vibration that are separated by 20 cm(-1). In contrast, the molecular structure comprises only one such group. They assigned the two bands to different conformers that coexist in a temperature range between 25 and 65 degrees C covering the entire mesophase of this material. This assignment is strongly confirmed by calculated vibrational spectra based on the density functional theory.  相似文献

The infrared (3,200-30 cm(-1) spectra of gaseous and solid 1-bromosilacyclobutane, c-C3H6SiBrH, have been recorded. Additionally, the Raman spectra of the liquid (3,200- 30 cm(-1) with quantitative depolarization values and the solid have been recorded. Both the equatorial and the axial conformers have been identified in the fluid phases, Variable temperature ( - 105 to - 150 degrees C) studies of the infrared spectra of the sample dissolved in liquid krypton have been carried out. From these data the enthalpy difference has been determined to be 182 +/- 18 cm(-1) (2.18 +/- 0.22 kJ/mol) with the equatorial conformer the more stable rotamer and only conformer remaining in the annealing solid. At ambient temperature there is approximately 22% of the axial conformer present in the vapor phase. A complete vibrational assignment is proposed for both conformers based on infrared contours, relative intensities, depolarization values and group frequencies. The vibrational assignments are supported by normal coordinate calculations utilizing the force constants from ab initio MP2/6-31G(d) calculations. From the frequencies of the Si-H stretch, the Si-H bond distance of 1.483 A has been determined for both the equatorial and the axial conformers. Complete equilibrium geometries have been determined for both rotamers by ab initio calculations employing the 6-31G(d) and 6-311 +/- G(d,p) basis sets at levels of Hartree Fock (RHF) and/or Moller- Plesset with full electron correlation by the perturbation method to the second order (MP2). The results are discussed and compared to those obtained for some similar molecules.  相似文献

The infrared (3200-40 cm(-1)) spectra of gaseous and solid 1,1-dicyclopropylethene, (c-C3H5)2C=CH2, along with the Raman (3200-40 cm(-1)) spectra of liquid and solid phases, have been recorded. The major trans-gauche (C=C bond trans to one ring with the other ring rotated about 60 degrees from the C=C bond, trivial C(1) symmetry) and gauche-gauche (the two three-membered rings rotated oppositely about 60 degrees from the C=C bond, C2 symmetry) rotamers have been confidently identified in the fluid phases, but no definitive spectroscopic evidence was found for the gauche-gauche' form (the two three-membered rings rotated to the same side about 60 degrees from the C=C bond, Cs symmetry), which is calculated to be present in no more than 6% at ambient temperature. Variable-temperature (-55 to -100 degrees C) studies of the infrared spectra of the sample dissolved in liquid xenon have been carried out. Utilizing six different combinations of pairs of bands from the C1 and C2 conformers, the average enthalpy difference between these two has been determined to be 146 +/- 30 cm(-1) (1.75 +/- 0.36 kJ x mol(-1)), with the C1 form more stable. Given statistical weights of 2:1:1 respectively for the C1, C2, and Cs forms, it is estimated that there are 75 +/- 2% C(1) and 19 +/- 1% C2 conformers present at ambient temperature. By utilizing predicted frequencies, infrared intensities, Raman activities, and band envelopes from scaled MP2(full)/6-31G(d) ab initio calculations, a complete vibrational assignment is made for the C1 form and a number of fundamentals of the C2 conformer have been identified. The structural parameters, dipole moments, and conformational stabilities have been obtained from ab initio calculations at the level of Hartree-Fock (RHF), the perturbation method to second order with full electron correlation (MP2(full)), and hybrid density functional theory (DFT) by the B3LYP method with a variety of basis sets. The predicted conformational stabilities from the MP2 calculations with relatively large basis sets are consistent with the experimental results. Structural parameters are estimated from the MP2(full)/6-311+G(d,p) predictions which are compared to the previously reported electron diffraction parameters. These experimental and theoretical results are compared to the corresponding quantities of some similar molecules.  相似文献

Temperature-dependent polarized infrared spectra were measured over the temperature range 105-30°C for a ferroelectric liquid crystal with a naphthalene ring (FLC-1) in the isotropic, smectic A (SmA), and chiral smectic C (SmC*) phases to investigate its molecular conformation, interactions, and alignment in each phase. It has been found, from the temperaturedependent spectral changes in the 1610-1600 cm-1 region, that the degree of twist between the naphthalene and benzene rings of FLC-1 changes with temperature. The peak intensity of the band at 1606 cm-1 containing contributions from both the benzene and naphthalene ring stretching modes begins to decrease, not suddenly but gradually, upon going from the SmA phase to the SmC* phase, suggesting that the molecular orientation of the two rings changes gradually between the two phases. The frequencies of two CH2 stretching bands suggest that the disorder of the alkyl chain of FLC-1 is similar for the liquid crystal phase and the isotropic liquid phase. The splitting of the core C=O stretching band indicates that the resonance system consisting of the benzene ring and the C=O group in the core part of FLC-1 is involved in two kinds of intermolecular interaction between adjacent molecules in the liquid crystal phase.  相似文献

The molecular vibrations of xanthine were investigated in polycrystalline sample, at room temperature by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and FT-Raman spectroscopies. The spectra of the molecule have been recorded in the regions 4000-50 cm(-1) and 3500-100 cm(-1), respectively. Theoretical information on the optimized geometry, harmonic vibrational frequencies, infrared and Raman intensities were obtained by means of ab initio Hartree-Fock (HF) and density functional theory (DFT) gradient calculations with complete relaxation in the potential energy surface using 6-311++G(d,p) basis set. The vibrational frequencies which were determined experimentally from the spectral data are compared with those obtained theoretically from ab initio and DFT calculations. A close agreement was achieved between the observed and calculated frequencies by refinement of the scale factors. The infrared and Raman spectra were also predicted from the calculated intensities. Thermodynamic properties like entropy, heat capacity, zero point energy have been calculated for the molecule. Unambiguous vibrational assignment of all the fundamentals was made using the potential energy distribution (PED).  相似文献

We have investigated the Raman profiles of the nu(C[Triple Bond]N) and nu(C=O) vibrational modes of the nematic liquid crystal ME6N (4-cyanophenyl-4(')-hexylbenzoate) in the isotropic phase at different temperatures and used them as probes of the dynamics and structural organization of this liquid. The vibrational time correlation functions of the nu(C[Triple Bond]N) mode, rather adequately interpreted within the assumption of exponential modulation function (the Kubo-Rothschild theory), indicate that the system experiences an intermediate dynamical regime that gets only slightly faster with increasing temperature. However, this theory fails in predicting the non-exponential behavior that the time correlation functions manifest in the long time range (t>3 ps). For this reason we have additionally approached the interpretation of vibrational correlation functions in terms of the theory formulated by Rothschild and co-workers for locally structured liquids. The application of this theory reveals that the molecular dynamics in this liquid crystal in the isotropic phase is that deriving from a distribution of differently sized clusters, which narrows as the temperature increases. Even at the highest temperature reached in this study (87 degrees C above the nematic-isotropic transition), the liquid has not yet achieved the structure of the simple liquid and the dynamics has not reached the limit of the single channel process. The vibrational and orientational relaxations occur in very different time scales. The temperature independence of the orientational dynamics in the whole range from 55 degrees C to 135 degrees C has been referred to the nonhydrodynamic behavior of the system, arising when local pseudonematic structures persist for times longer than the orientational relaxation. The occurrence of the process of resonant vibrational energy transfer between the C=O groups of adjacent molecules has been revealed in the isotropic phase by a slightly positive Raman noncoincidence effect in the band associated with the nu(C=O) mode. A qualitative interpretation is tentatively given in terms of partial cancellation of contributions deriving from structures having opposite orientations of their C=O groups.  相似文献

The solid-state X-ray diffraction, FT-IR and FT-Raman measurements of cynacure have been performed. Optimized molecular structures and normal vibrations of cynacure and 2-(methylthio)aniline have been calculated in the gas phase at the B3LYP/6-311++G** level. Scaling factors that bring computational gas-phase frequencies in closer agreement with the solid-state experimental data have been calculated for each vibration type. The observed IR and Raman bands of cynacure and 2-(methylthio)aniline have been assigned in the frameworks of the calculated mode frequencies as well as the calculated IR and Raman intensities. The assignments of the normal modes of cynacure have been compared with those of the benzene and 2-(methylthio)aniline modes. The effects of the substitution on the benzene vibrational frequencies have been investigated. 2-(Methylthio)aniline and cynacure both have four stable conformers. The calculated ground-state energetics and vibrational spectra of 2-(methylthio)aniline and cynacure suggest the coexistence of their stable conformers at the room temperature.  相似文献

By using a new furnace design, M(3)AlF(6) (M = Na, K, Cs) and mixtures of small amounts of AlF(3) in FLiNaK (46.5 mol % LiF, 11.5 mol % NaF, 42 mol % KF) and CsF-KF eutectic have been investigated over a wide temperature range (25-1050 degrees C) by Raman spectroscopy. The peak positions and their relative intensities have been measured as a function of temperature. In FLiNaK, up to 750 degrees C, the bands shift gradually to lower wavenumbers, and their halfwidths increase in agreement with published data. However, it is shown from solubility measurements and Raman data that, in these conditions, the mixture is not totally molten and the spectra correspond mainly to AlF(6)(3-) in the solid state. When the mixture is completely molten, a new band appears clearly on the high-frequency side of the main band of the spectrum, and its intensity grows up when the temperature is increased. The present results are a clear confirmation of the dissociation of AlF(6)(3-) into AlF(5)(2-) and AlF(4)(-) that our study of the Raman bands of the fully melted systems MF-AlF(3) (M = Na, K, Li) previously suggested. On these systems, it is then important to know if the spectra belong mainly to solid or liquid fluoroaluminates before drawing any conclusion concerning the liquid phase structure.  相似文献

The Raman spectra (3200-30 cm(-1)) of liquid and solid, and infrared spectra of gaseous and solid chloromethyl silyl dichloride, ClCH2SiHCl2, have been recorded. Variable temperature (-105 to -150 degrees C) studies of the infrared spectra of the sample dissolved in liquid krypton have been carried out. From these data, the enthalpy difference was determined to be 363 +/- 40 cm(-1) (4.34 +/- 0.48 kJ mol(-1)), with the more stable form being the gauche conformer, which is consistent with the prediction from ab initio calculations at both the Hartree-Fock level and with full electron correlation by the perturbation method to second order. It is estimated that 92% of the sample is in the gauche form at ambient temperature. A complete vibrational assignment is proposed for the gauche conformer and several of fundamentals of the trans conformer based on infrared band contours, relative intensities, depolarization values, and group frequencies, which is supported by normal coordinate calculations utilizing the force constants from the ab initio MP2/6-31G(d) calculations. The r0 SiH bond distances of 1.476 and 1.472 A have been obtained for the trans and gauche conformers, respectively, from the silicon-hydrogen stretching frequencies. The optimized geometries have also been obtained from ab initio calculations utilizing several different basis sets with full electron correlation by the perturbation method up to MP2/6-311 + G(2d,2p). The results are discussed and compared to some corresponding results for several related molecules.  相似文献

Some 500 infrared (IR) spectra of light and heavy waters were obtained between 29 and 93 degrees C in order to identify the species present in liquid water. Factor analysis of these gives two species for each type of water with their IR spectra and abundance curves. Using an orthogonalization procedure, we obtained the temperature factor limits of -22 and +118 degrees C (+/-5 degrees C) that we coined cold and hot factors, respectively. Within experimental error, these limits are the same for light and heavy waters. The spectra of the orthogonalized factors presented show a decrease of the OH (OD) stretch band integrated intensities of almost 36% from the cold to the hot factors. No "free" OH (OD) group is present or formed in the temperature ramp. This indicates that all water molecules in the bulk are made of an oxygen atom surrounded with four hydrogen atoms, two covalently bonded, and two hydrogen bonded. This is consistent with the previous study of mixtures of H(2)O and D(2)O [part I: J.-J. Max and C. Chapados, J. Chem. Phys. 116, 4626 (2002)]. To maintain the ordinary liquid within the limits of 0 and 100 degrees C at atmospheric pressure, a fraction of the cold and hot factors are necessary. With the spectra of the cold and hot factors and the abundance curves, one can generate the spectrum at any temperature between -22 and +118 degrees C of light and heavy liquid waters.  相似文献
