The equation on weakly pseudo-convex CR manifolds of dimension 3

Let M be a smooth, compact, orientable, weakly pseudoconvex manifold of dimension 3, embedded in (N2), of codimension one or more, and endowed with the induced CR structure. Assuming that the tangential Cauchy-Riemann operator has closed range in L²(M) in order to rule out the Rossi example, we push regularity up to show has closed range in H^s(M) for all s>0. We then use the Szegö projection to show there is a smooth solution for the problem given smooth data. The results are obtained via microlocalization by piecing together estimates for functions and (0,1) forms that hold on different microlocal regions.

The results of this paper concern the effective cardinal structure of the subsets of [ω₁]^<ω₁, the set of all countable subsets of ω₁. The main results include dichotomy theorems and theorems which show that the effective cardinal structure is complicated.     

A non-splitting theorem in the enumeration degrees

We complete a study of the splitting/non-splitting properties of the enumeration degrees below by proving an analog of Harrington’s non-splitting theorem for the enumeration degrees. We show how non-splitting techniques known from the study of the c.e. Turing degrees can be adapted to the enumeration degrees.     

Projective functors for algebraic groups

We investigate the regular subquotient category introduced by Soergel in [W. Soergel, On the relation between intersection cohomology and representation theory in positive characteristic, J. Pure Appl. Algebra 152 (1–3) (2000) 311–335]. A detailed study of projective functors enables one to relate those categories for semi-simple algebraic group G and its subgroup schemata G_rT. As an application we derive some information about the characters of tilting modules for G.     

Finding induced trees

Let G=(V(G),E(G)) be a finite connected undirected graph and WV(G) a subset of vertices. We are searching for a subset XV(G) such that WX and the subgraph induced on X is a tree. -completeness results and polynomial time algorithms are given assuming that the cardinality of W is fixed or not. Besides we give complexity results when X has to induce a path or when G is a weighted graph. We also consider problems where the cardinality of X has to be minimized.     

Pseudoprime factorizations of integer matrices

We give a method of factoring integer matrices in into components such that the factorization is not unique unless certain information is known. In Section 2, we introduce this method of factorization and provide theorems which establish its well-definedness. In Section 3, we construct a matrix in as a product of specific types of matrices and establish an algorithm for factoring the result uniquely given an amount of information.     

The Cuntz semigroup and comparison of open projections

We show that a number of naturally occurring comparison relations on positive elements in a C^?-algebra are equivalent to natural comparison properties of their corresponding open projections in the bidual of the C^?-algebra. In particular we show that Cuntz comparison of positive elements corresponds to a comparison relation on open projections, that we call Cuntz comparison, and which is defined in terms of—and is weaker than—a comparison notion defined by Peligrad and Zsidó. The latter corresponds to a well-known comparison relation on positive elements defined by Blackadar. We show that Murray-von Neumann comparison of open projections corresponds to tracial comparison of the corresponding positive elements of the C^?-algebra. We use these findings to give a new picture of the Cuntz semigroup.     

Schurian vector space categories, hereditary algebras and Roiter's norm

We associate a positive real number to any vector space K-category over a field K. Generalizing a result of Nazarova and Roiter, we show that a schurian vector space K-category is representation-finite if and only if is finite and . Such vector space categories are quasilinear, i.e. its indecomposables are simple modules over their endomorphism ring. Recently, Nazarova and Roiter introduced the concept of -faithful poset in order to clarify the structure of critical posets. Their conjecture on the precise form of -faithful posets was established by Zeldich. We generalize these results and characterize -faithful quasilinear vector space K-categories in terms of a class of hereditary algebras H_ρ(D) parametrized by a skew-field D and a rational number ρ1.     

Existence and multiplicity of solutions for semilinear elliptic equations with Hardy terms and Hardy–Sobolev critical exponents

Some existence and multiplicity results are obtained for solutions of semilinear elliptic equations with Hardy terms, Hardy–Sobolev critical exponents and superlinear nonlinearity by the variational methods and some analysis techniques.     

Approximation theorems for localized szsz–Mirakjan operators

In the present paper, we investigate the convergence and the approximation order of the localized Szsz–Mirakjan operators, and obtain some new results to improve the results due to Omey [Note on operators of Szsz–Mirakjan type, J. Approx. Theory 47 (1986) 246–254].     

-Linked planar graphs

A graph G is (m,n)-linked if for any two disjoint subsets R,BV(G) with |R|m and |B|n, G has two disjoint connected subgraphs containing R and B, respectively. We shall prove that a planar graph with at least six vertices is (3,3)-linked if and only if G is 4-connected and maximal.     

The SC property of an expected residual function arising from stochastic complementarity problems

The stochastic nonlinear complementarity problem has been recently reformulated as an expected residual minimization problem which minimizes an expected residual function defined by an NCP function. In this work, we show that the expected residual function defined by the Fischer–Burmeister function is an function.     

On nonatomic submeasures on . II

It is shown that if two submeasures on that are lim sup's of sequences of measures have the same zero sets, and one is nonatomic, so is the other, and they are (ε-δ)-equivalent. Moreover, if a submeasure η is the lim sup of a sequence of lower semi-continuous (lsc) submeasures and is 0-dominated by the so-called core γ^• of an lsc submeasure γ, then η is also (ε-δ)-dominated by γ^•. And if a submeasure η of this type is 0-dominated by a nonatomic submeasure, then it is nonatomic as well.
