We consider the problem of existence of constant scalar curvature Kähler metrics on complete intersections of sections of vector bundles. In particular we give general formulas relating the Futaki invariant of such a manifold to the weight of sections defining it and to the Futaki invariant of the ambient manifold. As applications we give a new Mukai–Umemura–Tian like example of Fano 5-fold admitting no Kähler–Einstein metric, and a strong evidence of K-stability of complete intersections in Grassmannians.  相似文献

Let L be an ample line bundle on a Kähler manifolds of nonpositive sectional curvature with K as the canonical line bundle. We give an estimate of m such that K+mL is very ample in terms of the injectivity radius. This implies that m can be chosen arbitrarily small once we go deep enough into a tower of covering of the manifold. The same argument gives an effective Kodaira Embedding Theorem for compact Kähler manifolds in terms of sectional curvature and the injectivity radius. In case of locally Hermitian symmetric space of noncompact type or if the sectional curvature is strictly negative, we prove that K itself is very ample on a large covering of the manifold.  相似文献

Let (M, J, g) be a compact Kähler manifold of constant scalar curvature. Then the Kähler class [] has an open neighborhood inH 1,1 (M, ) consisting of classes which are represented by Kähler forms of extremal Kähler metrics; a class in this neighborhood is represented by the Kähler form of a metric of constant scalar curvature iff the Futaki invariant of the class vanishes. If, moreover, the derivative of the Futaki invariant at [] is nondegenerate, every small deformation of the complex manifold (M, J) also carries Kähler metrics of constant scalar curvature. We then apply these results to prove new existence theorems for extremal Kähler metrics on certain compact complex surfaces. The first author is supported in part by NSF grant DMS 92-04093.  相似文献

We prove the existence of infinite-dimensional families of(non-Kähler) almost-Kähler metrics with constant scalar curvature oncertain compact manifolds. These are obtained by deformingconstant-scalar-curvature Kähler metrics on suitable compact complexmanifolds. We prove several other similar results concerning the scalarcurvature and/or the *-scalar curvature. We also discuss thescalar curvature functions of almost-Kähler metrics.  相似文献

On a compact complex manifold (M, J) of the Kähler type, we consider the functional defined by the L2-norm of the scalar curvature with its domain the space of Kähler metrics of fixed total volume. We calculate its critical points, and derive a formula that relates the Kähler and Ricci forms of such metrics on surfaces. If these metrics have a nonzero constant scalar curvature, then they must be Einstein. For surfaces, if the scalar curvature is nonconstant, these critical metrics are conformally equivalent to non-Kähler Einstein metrics on an open dense subset of the manifold. We also calculate the Hessian of the lower bound of the functional at a critical extremal class, and show that, in low dimensions, these classes are weakly stable minima for the said bound. We use this result to discuss some applications concerning the two-points blow-up of CP2.  相似文献

We compute the Riemann curvature tensor of the Hilbert-Schmidt Grassmannian with respect to its natural Kähler structure. The sectional curvature is shown to be non-negative. We also discuss the Kähler structure of the Hilbert-Schmidt space of almost complex structures whose sectional curvature is shown to be non-positive.Research supported by a grant from the Osk. We propose the study of certain discretizations of geometric evolution equations as an approach to the study of the existence problem of some elliptic partial differential equations of a geometric nature as well as a means to obtain interesting dynamics on certain infinite-dimensional spaces. We illustrate the fruitfulness of this approach in the context of the Ricci flow, as well as another flow, in Kähler geometry. We introduce and study dynamical systems related to the Ricci operator on the space of Kähler metrics that arise as discretizations of these flows. We pose some problems regarding their dynamics. We point out a number of applications to well-studied objects in Kähler and conformal geometry such as constant scalar curvature metrics, Kähler-Ricci solitons, Nadel-type multiplier ideal sheaves, balanced metrics, the Moser-Trudinger-Onofri inequality, energy functionals and the geometry and structure of the space of Kähler metrics. E.g., we obtain a new sharp inequality strengthening the classical Moser-Trudinger-Onofri inequality on the two-sphere.  相似文献

In this paper we study the existence of extremal metrics on toric Kähler surfaces. We show that on every toric Kähler surface, there exists a Kähler class in which the surface admits an extremal metric of Calabi. We found a toric Kähler surface of 9 -fixed points which admits an unstable Kähler class and there is no extremal metric of Calabi in it. Moreover, we prove a characterization of the K-stability of toric surfaces by simple piecewise linear functions. As an application, we show that among all toric Kähler surfaces with 5 or 6 -fixed points, is the only one which allows vanishing Futaki invariant and admits extremal metrics of constant scalar curvature.  相似文献

Let M=P(E) be the complex manifold underlying the total space of the projectivization of a holomorphic vector bundle EΣ over a compact complex curve Σ of genus ?2. Building on ideas of Fujiki (1992) [27], we prove that M admits a Kähler metric of constant scalar curvature if and only if E is polystable. We also address the more general existence problem of extremal Kähler metrics on such bundles and prove that the splitting of E as a direct sum of stable subbundles is necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of extremal Kähler metrics in Kähler classes sufficiently far from the boundary of the Kähler cone. The methods used to prove the above results apply to a wider class of manifolds, called rigid toric bundles over a semisimple base, which are fibrations associated to a principal torus bundle over a product of constant scalar curvature Kähler manifolds with fibres isomorphic to a given toric Kähler variety. We discuss various ramifications of our approach to this class of manifolds.  相似文献

Summary The purpose of this paper is to prove that every ellipsoidal domain in Cn admits a complete Kähler metric whose Riemannian sectional curvature is bounded from above by a negative constant (Theorem 1). We construct a Kähler metric, in a natural way, as potential of a suitable function defining the boundary (§2). Directly we compute the curvature tensor and we find upper and lower bounds for the holomorphic sectional curvature (§ 4, § 5). In order to prove the boundness of Riemannian sectional curvature we use finally a classical pinching argument (§ 6). We also obtain that for certain ellipsoidal domains the curvature tensor is very strongly negative in the sense of [15] (§ 3). Finally we prove that the metric constructed on ellipsoidal domains in Cn is the Bergman metric if and only if the domain is biholomorphic to the ball (Theorem 2). In [8], [9] R. E. Greene and S. G. Krantz gave large families of examples of complete Kähler manifolds with Riemannian sectional curvature bounded from above by a negative constant; they are sufficiently small deformations of the ball in Cn, with the Bergman metric. Before the only known example of complete simply-connected Kähler manifold with Riemannian sectional curvature upper bounded by a negative constant, not biholomorphic to the ball, was the surface constructed by G. D. Mostow and Y. T. Siu in [14], to the best of the author's knowledge, is not known at present if this example is biholomorphic to a domain in Cn.  相似文献

In this article we study properly discontinuous actions on Hilbert manifolds giving new examples of complete Hilbert manifolds with nonnegative, respectively nonpositive, sectional curvature with infinite fundamental group. We also get examples of complete infinite dimensional Kähler manifolds with positive holomorphic sectional curvature and infinite fundamental group in contrastwith the finite dimensional case and we classify abelian groups acting linearly, isometrically and properly discontinuously on Stiefel manifolds. Finally, we classify homogeneous Hilbert manifolds with constant sectional curvature.  相似文献

Two Kähler metrics on a complex manifold are called c-projectively equivalent if their J  -planar curves coincide. Such curves are defined by the property that the acceleration is complex proportional to the velocity. The degree of mobility of a Kähler metric is the dimension of the space of metrics that are c-projectively equivalent to it. We give the list of all possible values of the degree of mobility of a simply connected Kähler manifold by reducing the problem to the study of parallel Hermitian (0,2)(0,2)-tensors on the conification of the manifold. We also describe all such values for a Kähler–Einstein metric. We apply these results to describe all possible dimensions of the space of essential c-projective vector fields of Kähler and Kähler–Einstein metrics. We also show that two c-projectively equivalent Kähler–Einstein metrics (of arbitrary signature) on a closed manifold have constant holomorphic curvature or are affinely equivalent.  相似文献

Extremal metrics and K-stability   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We propose an algebraic geometric stability criterion for apolarised variety to admit an extremal Kähler metric. Thisgeneralises conjectures by Yau, Tian and Donaldson, which relateto the case of Kähler–Einstein and constant scalarcurvature metrics. We give a result in geometric invariant theorythat motivates this conjecture, and an example computation thatsupports it.  相似文献

The Kähler manifolds of quasi-constant holomorphic sectional curvatures are introduced as Kähler manifolds with complex distribution of codimension two, whose holomorphic sectional curvature only depends on the corresponding point and the geometric angle, associated with the section. A curvature identity characterizing such manifolds is found. The biconformal group of transformations whose elements transform Kähler metrics into Kähler ones is introduced and biconformal tensor invariants are obtained. This makes it possible to classify the manifolds under consideration locally. The class of locally biconformal flat Kähler metrics is shown to be exactly the class of Kähler metrics whose potential function is only a function of the distance from the origin in ? n . Finally we show that any rotational even dimensional hypersurface carries locally a natural Kähler structure which is of quasi-constant holomorphic sectional curvatures.  相似文献

We develop a variational calculus for a certain free energy functional on the space of all probability measures on a Kähler manifold X. This functional can be seen as a generalization of Mabuchi?s K-energy functional and its twisted versions to more singular situations. Applications to Monge–Ampère equations of mean field type, twisted Kähler–Einstein metrics and Moser–Trudinger type inequalities on Kähler manifolds are given. Tian?s α-invariant is generalized to singular measures, allowing in particular a proof of the existence of Kähler–Einstein metrics with positive Ricci curvature that are singular along a given anti-canonical divisor (which combined with very recent developments concerning Kähler metrics with conical singularities confirms a recent conjecture of Donaldson). As another application we show that if the Calabi flow in the (anti-)canonical class exists for all times then it converges to a Kähler–Einstein metric, when a unique one exists, which is in line with a well-known conjecture.  相似文献

We prove that the existence of a Kähler-Einstein metric on a Fano manifold is equivalent to the properness of the energy functionals defined by Bando, Chen, Ding, Mabuchi and Tian on the set of Kähler metrics with positive Ricci curvature. We also prove that these energy functionals are bounded from below on this set if and only if one of them is. This answers two questions raised by X.-X. Chen. As an application, we obtain a new proof of the classical Moser-Trudinger-Onofri inequality on the two-sphere, as well as describe a canonical enlargement of the space of Kähler potentials on which this inequality holds on higher-dimensional Fano Kähler-Einstein manifolds.  相似文献

The determinant of the Ricci endomorphism of a Kähler metric is called its central curvature, a notion well-defined even in the Riemannian context. This work investigates two types of Kähler metrics in which this curvature potential gives rise to a potential for a gradient holomorphic vector field. These metric types generalize the Kähler-Einstein notion as well as that of Bando and Mabuchi (1986). Whenever possible the central curvature is treated in analogy with the scalar curvature, and the metrics are compared with the extremal Kähler metrics of Calabi. An analog of the Futaki invariant is employed, both invariants belonging to a family described in the language of holomorphic equivariant cohomology. It is shown that one of the metric types realizes the minimum of an functional defined on the space of Kähler metrics in a given Kähler class. For metrics of constant central curvature, results are obtained regarding existence, uniqueness and a partial classification in complex dimension two. Consequently, on a manifold of Fano type, such metrics and Kähler-Einstein metrics can only exist concurrently. An existence result for the case of non-constant central curvature is stated, and proved in a sequel to this work.
