The only known general bounds on the parameters of orthogonal arrays are those given by Rao in 1947 [J. Roy. Statist. Soc. 9 (1947), 128–139] for general OAγ(t,k,v) and by Bush [Ann. Math. Stat. 23, (1952), 426–434] [3] in 1952 for the special case γ = 1. We present an algebraic method based on characters of homocyclic groups which yields the Rao bounds, the Bush bound in case t ? v, and more importantly a new explicit bound which for large values of t (the strength of the array) is much better than the Rao bound. In the case of binary orthogonal arrays where all rows are distinct this bound was previously proved by Friedman [Proc. 33rd IEEE Symp. on Foundations of Comput. Sci., (1992), 314–319] in a different setting. We also note an application to resilient functions. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, inc.  相似文献

A certain broad class of finite-meromorphic operator functions is characterized by the existence of local representations as the product or sum of two operator functions with special properties. Similar global decompositions are also obtained. The class studied includes, for example, all finite-meromorphic operator functions whose values are semi-Fredholm operators.  相似文献

The paper deals with strictly pseudoconvex quadratic functions on open convex sets. It presents second-order conditions in terms of an extended Hessian and in terms of bordered determinants. In this paper, a new class of generalized convex function is introduced, which is called the strongly α-preinvex function. We study some properties of strongly α-preinvex function. In particular, we establish the equivalence among the strongly α-preinvex functions, strongly α-invex functions and strongly αη-monotonicity under some suitable conditions. As special cases, one can obtain several new and previously known results for α-preinvex (invex) functions.  相似文献

We introduce a second-order upper Dini-directional derivative and obtain a second-order characterization for a continuously Gâteaux differentiable function to be a convex function.This research was done under the supervision of Dr. V. We provide some characterizations for SOC-monotone and SOC-convex functions by using differential analysis. From these characterizations, we particularly obtain that a continuously differentiable function defined in an open interval is SOC-monotone (SOC-convex) of order n ≥ 3 if and only if it is 2-matrix monotone (matrix convex), and furthermore, such a function is also SOC-monotone (SOC-convex) of order n ≤ 2 if it is 2-matrix monotone (matrix convex). In addition, we also prove that Conjecture 4.2 proposed in Chen (Optimization 55:363–385, 2006) does not hold in general. Some examples are included to illustrate that these characterizations open convenient ways to verify the SOC-monotonicity and the SOC-convexity of a continuously differentiable function defined on an open interval, which are often involved in the solution methods of the convex second-order cone optimization.  相似文献

Let (α) denote the class of locally univalent normalized analytic functions f in the unit disk |z| < 1 satisfying the condition $Re\left( {1 + \frac{{zf''(z)}} {{f'(z)}}} \right) < 1 + \frac{\alpha } {2}for|z| < 1 $ and for some 0 < α ≤ 1. We firstly prove sharp coefficient bounds for the moduli of the Taylor coefficients a n of f (α). Secondly, we determine the sharp bound for the Fekete-Szegö functional for functions in (α) with complex parameter λ. Thirdly, we present a convolution characterization for functions f belonging to (α) and as a consequence we obtain a number of sufficient coefficient conditions for f to belong to (α). Finally, we discuss the close-to-convexity and starlikeness of partial sums of f (α). In particular, each partial sum s n (z) of f (1) is starlike in the disk |z| ≤ 1/2 for n ≥ 11. Moreover, for f (1), we also have Re(s n (z)) > 0 in |z| ≤ 1/2 for n ≥ 11.  相似文献

In this paper, new classes of generalized convex functions are introduced, extending the concepts of quasi-convexity, pseudoconvexity, and their associate subclasses. Functions belonging to these classes satisfy certain local-global minimum properties. Three general multivariate semi-Pareto distributions are developed in this paper. First one—GMP(k)(III) has univariate Pareto (III) marginals, it is characterized by the minimum of two independent and identically distributed random vectors. Second one—GMSP has univariate semi-Pareto marginals and it is characterized by finite sample minima. Third one—MSP is characterized through a geometric minimization procedure. All these three characterizations are based on the general and the particular solutions of the Euler's functional equations of k-variates.  相似文献

A function between two Abelian semigroups is arithmetically homogeneous of degree n if \( h(ix)=i^{n}h(x)\) for all positive integers i. We give new functional characterizations for arithmetically homogeneous functions, for polynomials of arithmetically homogeneous functions, and for Fréchet monomials. We also give large classes of control functions that provide generalized stability, or hyperstability for a homogeneous equation, and, consequently, new similar classes for classical monomial equations, so extending some known stability results.  相似文献
