To investigate the effect of annealing on the structural and optical properties of a binary compound Ga5Se95, thin films of Ga5Se95 have been deposited on quartz substrates at room temperature by the thermal evaporation technique. X-ray diffraction patterns showed that the films before and after annealing at 573 K have polycrystalline texture and exhibit tetragonal structure. The dependences of the optical constants, the refractive index n and extinction coefficient k were studied in the spectral range of 200 nm to 2500 nm. The normal dispersion of the refractive index of the films could be described using the Wemple–DiDomenco single-oscillator model. Analysis of absorption index data reveals that as-deposited Ga5Se95 films has indirect transitions with optical energy gap of 1.685 eV.  相似文献

Thin films of manganese (III) chloride 5,10,15,20-tetraphenyl-21H,23H-porphine (MnTPPCl) with different film thickness were deposited by an evaporation technique. Some optical constants were calculated for these films at a thickness of 110, 220 and 330 nm and annealing temperature of 373 and 437 K. IR spectrum demonstrating that the thermal evaporation method is a good one to acquire undissociated and stoichiometric MnTPPCl films. Our perceptions demonstrate that the mechanism of the optical absorption obeys with the indirect transition. It was found that the energy gap, Eg, affected by the film thickness and annealing. Dispersion of the refractive index is described using single oscillator model. Dispersion parameters are calculated as a function of the film thickness and annealing temperature. In addition, the third-order nonlinear susceptibility, χ(3), and the nonlinear refractive index, n2, were calculated.  相似文献

In this work we report on the optical properties of single-crystalline iron thin films. For this, Cr-capped Fe films with thickness, t, in the range 30–300 Å were prepared on MgO (0 0 1) by DC magnetron sputtering, and then studied by optical absorption technique within the range from 1.0 to 3.6 eV. All measurements were carried out at room temperature using a fiber optics spectrophotometer. The intensity of the transmitted light decreases with increasing film thickness. The optical constants of the films are deduced from a model that considers the transmission of light by two absorbing films on an absorbing substrate. The absorption coefficient of the Fe films is also calculated from the transmission data. The absorption spectra show the following characteristics: (i) two large absorption peaks centered at about 1.20 and 2.65 eV; and (ii) a sharp step near 1.40 eV. These structures are associated with conventional interband transitions of the iron film.  相似文献

CuxZn1 ? xS (x = 0, 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, 1) thin films were deposited on glass substrates using Successive Ionic Layer Adsorption and Reaction (SILAR) method at room temperature and ambient pressure. The copper concentration (x) effect on the structural, morphological and optical properties of CuxZn1 ? xS thin films was investigated. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) studies showed that all the films exhibit polycrystalline nature and are covered well with glass substrates. The crystalline and surface properties of the films improved with increasing copper concentration. The energy bandgap values were changed from 2.07 to 3.67 eV depending on the copper concentration. The refractive index (n), optical static and high frequency dielectric constants (εo, ε) values were calculated by using the energy bandgap values as a function of the copper concentration.  相似文献

Optical properties of nanocrystalline, LixV2O5·nH2O films (0<x<22 mol%), are explored in the present work. These films have been produced by the sol–gel technique (colloidal route), which was used for the preparation of high purity and homogeneity films. Optical measurements were carried out using a double-beam spectrophotometer. The optical constants such as refractive index n, the extinction coefficient k, absorption coefficient α, and optical band gap of the films material have been evaluated. The optical absorption coefficient was calculated from the measured normal reflectance, R, and transmittance, T, spectra. The optical spectra of all samples exhibited two distinct regions: at high energy, which suggests a direct forbidden transition with optical gap ranging from 1.75 to 2.0 eV and increases with increase in Li-content. On the other hand a second low-energy band suggests a direct allowed transition with optical gap ranging from 0.40 to 0.42 eV. The width of the localized states (band tail) Ee was also estimated for all samples. Additional calculations applying the real part of the optical dielectric function led to the evaluation of the charge carrier concentration and their effective mass.  相似文献

Thin films of 4-tricyanovinyl-N,N-diethylaniline (TCVA) were prepared by thermal evaporation technique. The spectral and the optical parameters have been investigated by using the spectrophotometric measurements of both transmittance and reflectance at normal incidence of light in the wavelength range 200–2500 nm. The effect of γ-irradiation on the optical parameters was investigated. It was observed that the increase in γ-irradiation dose caused an increase in the value of absorption index and a shift in the spectrum towards higher wavelengths. Therefore, the value of the optical band gap has decreased from 1.45 eV for as-deposited film to 1.39 eV for film exposed to γ-ray dose of 150 kGy and Urbach tail increased. On the other hand, the dispersion parameters of TCVA films were increased with the increase of the irradiation dose.  相似文献

In the present work the influence of annealing temperature on the structural and optical properties of the In2O3 films deposited by electron beam evaporation technique in the presence of oxygen was studied. The deposited films were annealed from 350 to 550 °C in air. The chemical compositions of In2O3 films were carried out by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The film structure and surface morphologies were investigated as a function of annealing temperature by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The structural studies by XRD reveal that films exhibit preferential orientation along (2 2 2) plane. The refractive index (n), packing density and porosity (%) of films were arrived from transmittance spectral data obtained in the range 250–1000 nm by UV–vis-spectrometer. The optical band gap of In2O3 film was observed and found to be varying from 3.67 to 3.85 eV with the annealing temperature.  相似文献

Thin films of CuGaSe2 have been prepared by flash evaporation technique. The optical properties of the prepared films were investigated using spectrophotometric measurements of the transmittance and reflectance at normal incidence of light in the wavelength range from 400 to 2500 nm. The optical constants as refractive index, n, and absorption index, k, were calculated and found to be independent of film thickness in the range of the film thickness 132–423 nm. The analysis of the photon energy against the absorption coefficient showed three direct optical transitions (one of them is allowed while the others are forbidden). This direct transition was ascribed to the crystal field and spin orbital splitting of the upper most valence band. The crystal field and spin orbital splitting of CuGaSe2 were found to be ? 0.15 eV and 0.45 eV, respectively. The dispersion of the refractive index is discussed in terms of the single oscillator Wemple–DiDomenico (WD) model. The single oscillator energy (Eo), the dispersion energy (Ed), the high frequency dielectric constant (ε), the lattice dielectric constant (εL) and the ratio of free charge carrier concentration to the effective mass (N / m*) were estimated. The capacitance–voltage measurements of CuGaSe2/p-Si heterojunction showed that the diode is abrupt junction diode. The carrier concentration and the built-in voltage were estimated. The current–voltage characteristics of the device under illumination were investigated and photovoltaic properties of the device were evaluated.  相似文献

Phosphorus doped hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) films were prepared by decomposition of silane using RF plasma glow discharge. Both DC dark conductivity measurements, and spectrophotometric optical measurements through the range 200–3000 nm were recorded for the prepared films. The DC conductivity activation energy Ea decreased from 0.8 eV for the undoped sample to 0.34 eV for the highest used doping value. The optical energy gap Eg decreased ranging from 1.66 eV to 1.60 eV. The refractive index n, the density of charge carriers N/m* and the plasma frequency ωp showed an opposite behavior, i.e. an increase in value with doping. Fitting the dispersion values to Sellmeier equation led to the determination of the material natural frequency of oscillating particles. A correlation between the changes in these parameters with the doping has been attempted.  相似文献

TiO2 thin films were prepared by sol-gel method. The structural investigations performed by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed the shape structure at T = 600 °C. The optical constants of the deposited film were obtained from the analysis of the experimentally recorded transmittance spectral data in the wavelength of 200–3000 nm range. The values of some important parameters of the studied films are determined, such as refractive index n and thickness d. In this work, using the transmission spectra, we have calculated the dielectric constant (ε) for four layered TiO2 films; a simple relation is suggested to estimate the third-order optical nonlinear susceptibility χ(3). It has been found that the dispersion data obeyed the single oscillator of the Wemple–DiDomenico model, from which the dispersion parameters and high-frequency dielectric constant were determined. The estimations of the corresponding band gap Eg, χ(3) and ε are 2.57 eV, 0.021 · 10−10 esu and 5.20, respectively.  相似文献

This paper presents the physical properties of vacuum evaporated CdTe thin films with post-deposition thermal annealing. The thin films of thickness 500 nm were grown on glass and indium tin oxide (ITO) coated glass substrates employing thermal vacuum evaporation technique followed by post-deposition thermal annealing at temperature 450 °C. These films were subjected to the X-ray diffraction (XRD),UV-Vis spectrophotometer, source meter and atomic force microscopy (AFM) for structural, optical, electrical and surface morphological analysis respectively. The X-ray diffraction patterns reveal that the films have zinc-blende structure of single cubic phase with preferred orientation (111) and polycrystalline in nature. The crystallographic and optical parameters are calculated and discussed in brief. The optical band gap is found to be 1.62 eV and 1.52 eV for as-grown and annealed films respectively. The I–V characteristics show that the conductivity is decreased for annealed thin films. The AFM studies reveal that the surface roughness is observed to be increased for thermally annealed films.  相似文献

Thin bismuth oxide films have been prepared by a modified Pechini route on glass substrate and annealed at temperatures ranging between 400 °C and 700 °C using bismuth nitrate as raw material. The thin films were then characterized for structural, surface morphological, optical and electrical properties by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), Atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), optical absorption and d.c. two-probe, respectively. Structural investigations indicated that as-prepared bismuth oxide films were polycrystalline and multiphase, and annealing temperatures played a key role in the composition and optical properties of these films. AFM and SEM images revealed well defined particles which are highly influenced by annealing temperatures. The optical studies showed a direct band gap which varied with annealing temperatures between 3.63 eV and 3.74 eV. The electrical measurement showed that the electrical resistivity increased with annealing temperatures and the films were typical semiconductors. As catalyst, bismuth oxide films annealed at 550 °C had the best photocatalytic performance for photodegradation of methyl orange.  相似文献

The thin films of materials based on In–Se are under study for their applicability in photovoltaic devices, solid-state batteries and phase-change memories. The amorphous thin films of In2Se3−xTex (x=0–1.5) and InSe were prepared by pulsed laser deposition method (PLD) using a KrF excimer laser beam (λ=248 nm, 0.5 J cm−2) from polycrystalline bulk targets. The compositions of films verified by energy-dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX) were close to the compositions of targets. The surfaces of PLD films containing small amount of droplets were viewed by optical and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).The optical properties (transmittance and reflectance spectra, spectral dependence of index of refraction, optical gap, single-oscillator energy, dispersion energy, dielectric constant) of the films were determined. The values of index of refraction increased with increasing substitution of Te for Se in In2Se3 films, the values of the optical gap decreased with increasing substitution of Te for Se in In2Se3 films.  相似文献

Tin oxide thin films were deposited by a novel technique called as modified-SILAR. The preparative parameters were optimized to obtain good quality thin films. As-deposited films were annealed in O2 atmosphere for 1 h at 500 °C. The annealed films were irradiated using Au8+ ions with energy of 100 MeV at different fluencies of 1 × 1011, 1 × 1012, 5 × 1012 and 1 × 1013 ions/cm2 using tandem pelletron accelerator. The irradiation-induced modifications in tin oxide thin films were studied using XRD, AFM, optical band gap, photoluminescence and IV measurements. XRD studies showed formation of tin oxide with tetragonal structure. AFM revealed uniform deposition of the material with increase in grain size after irradiation. Decrease in band gap from 3.51 eV to 2.82 eV was seen with increases in fluency. A decrease in PL intensity, and an additional peak was observed after irradiation. IV measurements showed a decrease in resistance with fluency.  相似文献

We present a study of the surface stoichiometry and contamination of La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 thin films following exposure to air and subsequent in vacuo preparation. Samples were studied using both soft X-ray synchrotron photoemission ( = 150 to 350 eV) and traditional Mg-Kα XPS ( = 1253.6 eV) whilst annealing incrementally to ≈ 510°C in low pressures of O2. In all cases, a Mn depleted and Sr rich surface oxide layer is observed, it is of reduced crystalline quality and is charge depleted. This surface layer is weakly affected by subsequent annealing, and is partially reversed by annealing in higher O2 pressure. Surface carbon contamination is incrementally removed by annealing at increased temperatures, and at 270 °C, it is reduced to ≈ 0.4% of the topmost unit cell. The modification of the surface stoichiometry and electronic properties is consistent with the reported loss of magnetic properties in thin LSMO films.  相似文献

Undoped CdO films were prepared by sol–gel method. Transparent heterojunction diodes were fabricated by depositing n-type CdO films on the n-type GaN (0001) substrate. Current–voltage (IV) measurements of the device were evaluated, and the results indicated a non-ideal rectifying characteristic with IF/IR value as high as 1.17×103 at 2 V, low leakage current of 4.88×10−6 A and a turn-on voltage of about 0.7 V. From the optical data, the optical band gaps for the CdO film and GaN were calculated to be 2.30 eV and 3.309 eV, respectively. It is evaluated that interband transition in the film is provided by the direct allowed transition. The n-GaN (0001)/CdO heterojunction device has an optical transmission of 50–70% from 500 nm to 800 nm wavelength range.  相似文献

The cadmium sulfo selenide CdS1?xSex thin films were chemical bath deposited in aqueous media onto coated glass substrates. As-deposited CdS1?xSex thin films were annealed at 350 °C in air for 30 min. The structural, morphological, compositional and optical properties of deposited CdS1?xSex thin films were studied using X-ray diffractometer (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Energy dispersive analysis by X-ray (EDAX), and UV-Vis-NIR spectrophotometer respectively. X-ray diffraction patterns of CdS1?xSex thin films reveal the polycrystalline nature and hexagonal structure. The microstructural parameters such as crystallite size (D), micro strain (?), and dislocation density were calculated and found to depend on compositions. The surface morphology and grain size are found to be influenced with the annealing temperature. The presence of Cd, S and Se of the CdS1?xSex thin films and the composition of CdS1?xSex thin film are estimated by EDAX analysis. The optical transmittance and absorption spectra were recorded in the range 400–2500 nm. The band gap of the CdS1?xSex thin films is found to decrease from 2.5 eV to 1.75 eV.  相似文献

Amorphous chalcogenides, based on Se, have become materials of commercial importance and were widely used for optical storage media. The present work deals with the structural and optical properties of Ga10Se81Pb9 ternary chalcogenide glass prepared by melt quenching technique. The glass transition, crystallization and melting temperatures of the synthesized glass were measured by non-isothermal DSC measurements at a constant heating rate of 30 K/min. Thin films of thickness 4000 Å were prepared by thermal evaporation techniques on glass/Si (1 0 0) wafer substrate. These thin films were thermally annealed for two hours at three different annealing temperatures of 345, 360 and 375 K, which were in between the glass transition and crystallization temperatures of the Ga10Se81Pb9 glass. The structural, morphological and optical properties of as-prepared and annealed thin films were studied. Analysis of the optical absorption data showed that the rules of the non-direct transitions predominate. It was also found that the optical band gap decreases while the absorption coefficient, refractive index and extinction coefficient increase with increasing the annealing temperature. Due to the higher values of absorption coefficient and annealing dependence of the optical band gap and optical constants, the investigated material could be used for optical storage.  相似文献

In this study the structural and optical properties of lanthanum-doped BaSnO3 powder samples and thin films deposited on fused silica were investigaed using laser ablation. Under an oxygen pressure of 5×10−4 mbar, phase pure BaSnO3 films with a lattice constant of 0.417 nm and grain size of 21 nm were prepared at 630 °C. The band gap of BaSnO3 powder sample and thin films was calculated to be 3.36 eV and 3.67 eV, respectively. There was a progressive increase in conductivity for thin films of BaSnO3 doped with 0~7 at% of La. The highest conductivity, 9 Scm−1, was obtained for 7 at% La-doped BaSnO3. Carrier concentration, obtained from Burstein-Moss (B-M) shift, nearly matches the measured values except for 3 at% and 10 at% La-doped BaSnO3 thin films.  相似文献

(1 ? x)Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3xPbTiO3 (PMN–PT) thin films have been deposited on quartz substrates using pulsed laser deposition (PLD). Crystalline microstructure of the deposited PMN–PT thin films has been investigated with X-ray diffraction (XRD). Optical transmission spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy are used to characterize optical properties of the deposited PMN–PT thin films. The results show that the PMN–PT thin films of perovskite structure have been formed, and the crystalline and optical properties of the PMN–PT thin films can be improved as increasing the annealing temperature to 750 °C, but further increasing the annealing temperature to 950 °C may lead to a degradation of the crystallinity and the optical properties of the PMN–PT thin films. In addition, a weak second harmonic intensity (SHG) has been observed for the PMN–PT thin film formed at the optimum annealing temperature of 750 °C according to Maker fringe method. All these suggest that the annealing temperature has significant effect on the structural and optical properties of the PMN–PT thin films.  相似文献
