We demonstrate a diode-pumped Nd:YAG ceramic laser with emission at 946 nm that is passively Q-switched by single-crystal Cr4+:YAG saturable absorber. An average output power of 1.7 W is measured under 18.4 W of incident power using an output mirror with transmission T=4%. The corresponding optical-to-optical efficiency is 9.2%. The laser runs at a pulse repetition rate of 120 kHz and delivers pulses with energy of 14 μJ and duration of 80 ns, which corresponds to a peak power of 175 W.  相似文献

The stimulated emission cross-section of Nd:GGG crystal in 938 nm transition was measured by the amplifier approach. It is 2.3×10?20 cm2. A quasi-continuous-wave diode pumped, actively Q-switched Nd:GGG laser operating at 938 nm was demonstrated. Pumped by laser diodes with 900 W peak power and 300 μs pulse duration, it generated 168 mJ energy in long pulse mode. The slope efficiency was 36%. Q-switched by a KD?P Pockels cell, 41 mJ output pulse energy was obtained. The pulse duration and peak power were 120 ns and 340 kW, respectively. The optical to optical efficiency was 7%.  相似文献

Laser-induced damage in silicon-on-insulator (SOI) material is investigated with 1064 nm laser pulses. As the laser pulse duration is increased from 190 ps to 1.14 s, the damage threshold of SOI material decreases from 1.3×1010 to 7.7×103 W/cm2 in laser flux. It is found that the damage threshold varies inversely as the pulse duration for a short irradiation time, and is independent of pulse duration for a long irradiation time. The time dependence is in good agreement with a thermal model which well describes the thermal-induced damage in a semi-finite material irradiated by a Gaussian laser beam. The values of absorption coefficient and thermal conductivity under laser irradiation are calculated as 1.1×103 cm?1 and 0.18 Wcm?1 K?1, respectively, by fitting the model to the experimental results. These results on material damage can be used to predict the damage thresholds of SOI-based devices.  相似文献

Ultrafast pulsed laser ablation has been investigated as a technique to machine CdWO4 single crystal scintillator and segment it into small blocks with the aim of fabricating a 2D high energy X-ray imaging array. Cadmium tungstate (CdWO4) is a brittle transparent scintillator used for the detection of high energy X-rays and γ-rays. A 6 W Yb:KGW Pharos-SP pulsed laser of wavelength 1028 nm was used with a tuneable pulse duration of 10 ps to 190 fs, repetition rate of up to 600 kHz and pulse energies of up to 1 mJ was employed. The effect of varying the pulse duration, pulse energy, pulse overlap and scan pattern on the laser induced damage to the crystals was investigated. A pulse duration of ≥500 fs was found to induce substantial cracking in the material. The laser induced damage was minimised using the following operating parameters: a pulse duration of 190 fs, fluence of 15.3 J cm−2 and employing a serpentine scan pattern with a normalised pulse overlap of 0.8. The surface of the ablated surfaces was studied using scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Ablation products were found to contain cadmium tungstate together with different cadmium and tungsten oxides. These laser ablation products could be removed using an ammonium hydroxide treatment.  相似文献

We demonstrate a 980 nm single-mode Yb-doped fiber laser with a 946 nm Q-switched Nd:YAG laser used as the pump source. The experimental arrangement exploited a 36.5 cm length of fiber and used the output from both ends of the cavity, providing a total average output power of 100 mW with a slope efficiency of 38%. In order to increase the coupling efficiency and the practicability of the fiber laser, another experimental setup with single ended output was studied, producing an average output power of 80 mW from a fiber length of 23.5 cm. The pulse duration is 10 ns at a repetition frequency of 16 kHz. The linewidth of the laser is 4 nm, ranging from 977 to 981 nm.  相似文献

In this letter, a diode-pumped continuous-wave and passively Q-switched 1.06 μm laser with a novel composite YVO4/Nd:GdVO4 crystal was demonstrated for the first time. Theoretical calculations showed that the temperature distribution in YVO4/Nd:GdVO4 crystal was lower than that in GdVO4/Nd:GdVO4 and Nd:GdVO4 crystals under the same conditions. After optimizing the mode matching degree, a CW output power of 5.6 W of YVO4/Nd:GdVO4 laser was obtained at the incident pump power of 12 W when the output coupler with transmission of 30% was employed. Using Cr4 +:YAG crystals with initial transmission (T0) of 80% and 90% as saturable absorbers, the pulsed YVO4/Nd:GdVO4 laser characteristics were investigated. At the incident pump power of 12 W, the maximum average output power of 2.76 W and the maximum repetition rate of 189 kHz was achieved when T0 = 90% Cr4 +:YAG was used. The shortest pulse width was 28.1 ns when the initial transmission of the used Cr4 +:YAG was 80%.  相似文献

We reported a cavity-dumped operation of electro-optical Q-switched Nd:GdVO4 laser at high repetition rates for the first time. A constant 5.5 ns pulse duration was realized. The maximum average output power was 5.1 W at the highest repetition rate of 50 kHz, corresponding to a peak power of 18.5 kW.  相似文献

By simultaneously using an electro-optic (EO) modulator and a single-walled carbon nanotube saturable absorber (SWCNT-SA) in the cavity, a diode-pumped doubly Q-switched Nd:Lu0.33Y0.37Gd0.3VO4 (Nd:LuYGdVO4) laser is demonstrated. At the incident pump power 11.43 W and f=2 kHz, the minimum pulse width 17.6 ns and the maximum pulse peak power 19,886 W can be obtained. The experimental results show that this doubly Q-switched Nd:LuYGdVO4 laser can generate shorter pulse width and higher peak power compared to the singly Q-switched Nd:LuYGdVO4 laser with only EO or SWCNT-SA.  相似文献

We demonstrate graphene mode-locked nanosecond erbium-doped fiber laser in an all-fiber ring cavity. The clean and robust pulse train was generated at 27 mW pump power. Resultant central wavelength, repetition rate and pulse width was 1560 nm, 388 kHz and 6 ns, respectively. With two stage fiber amplifier, the output power was 553 mW, corresponding to single pulse energy of 1.4 μJ. In addition, the pulse-width can be varied ranging from 3 ns to 20 ns at repetition rate between 200 kHz and 1.54 MHz by changing the length of the laser cavity.  相似文献

We demonstrate the first Cr4+:YAG passively Q-switched c-cut Nd:YVO4 self-Raman laser at 1168.6 nm based on the Stokes shift of 816 cm−1. At the pump power of 4.7 W, the maximum output power of the Stokes line at 1168.6 nm is 270.5 mW, corresponding to an optical conversion efficiency of 5.8%. The pulse width, pulse repetition rate, pulse energy and peak power are 8.8 ns, 35.8 kHz, 7.6 μJ and 0.86 kW, respectively. At the pump of 5.0 W, the Stokes line at 1097.2 nm based on Raman shift of 259 cm−1 also appears.  相似文献

A mini eye-safe KTiAsO4 intracavity optical parametric oscillator (IOPO) employing the shared cavity configuration and driven by a diode-end-pumped composite Nd:YAG/Cr4+:YAG laser is demonstrated in this paper. Under an incident laser diode power of 11 W, a maximum average output power of 424 mW at 1534 nm was obtained. The corresponding signal pulse width and repetition rate were 1.2 ns and 16.7 kHz, respectively. The fluctuation of the average signal output power over long-term operation was found to be ±3.0%. A theoretical model for the compact IOPO was also presented in this paper.  相似文献

A diode end-pumped passively Q-switched Nd:YAG/KTA intracavity Raman laser is presented. A KTA crystal with a size of 5 mm × 5 mm × 25 mm is used as the Raman active medium and its 234 cm?1 Raman mode is employed to finish the conversion from 1064 nm fundamental laser to 1091 nm Raman laser. A 2 mm thick Cr4+:YAG crystal is used as the saturable absorber. With an LD pump power of 7.5 W, the first-Stokes power of 250 mW is obtained with a pulse repetition frequency of 14.5 kHz. The corresponding diode-to-Stokes conversion efficiency is 3.3% and the pulse energy is 17.2 μJ. Pulse width is measured to be 12.6 ns and peak power is 1.4 kW.  相似文献

This paper proposes a study both in theory and experiment on the phenomenon of stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) in a double-cladding fiber amplifier. The distortion characteristic of the 200-ns is observed through a stationary coupled-wave SBS model including the second-order Stokes wave for double-cladding fiber amplifier. The first-order Stokes wave is amplified during backward propagation to such an intense peak power that it can generate second-order Stokes wave. The stochastic aspect of pulse distortion induced by SBS is also experimentally demonstrated in the single frequency 200 ns pulse amplifier with 12-m Yb3+ doped double-cladding fiber. The backward SBS pulse is observed when the pulse peak power is up to 3.3 W, and the pulse width of SBS is narrower than that of the input signal. In the meantime, to overcome the difficulty of the pulse spectrum measurement, a novel method is put forward to measure the SBS frequency shift using the F–P interferometer with free spectral rang of 30 G, showing a good agreement with the theoretical estimation. SBS is the main factor that limits the output pulse peak power in the amplification of the single-frequency pulse.  相似文献

A Nd:YAG laser passively Q-switched by a Cr:YAG showed a high single pulse energy of 53.0 mJ and 5.1 MW peak power. The laser was pumped by quasi-continuous-wave diode bars from single side. The Q-switched pulse had optical-to-optical efficiency of 12% and average temporal duration of 10.4 ns when Cr:YAG with initial transmission of 9.0% was used. Intense pumping as well as very low initial transmission of the saturable absorber gave very high peak power.  相似文献

The influence of thermal lens effect on pulse repetition rate in diode-pumped Nd:GdVO4 1.34 μm laser has been demonstrated. The repetition rate first increased, then reduced with augment of the pump power, for V:YAG with initial transmission (T0) of 96%. The maximum repetition rate was 70 kHz, obtained at the pump power of 6.78 W. The best output laser characteristics—the pulse width of 39.2 ns, the peak power of 2.5 kW and the single pulse energy of 102 μJ—were obtained by V:YAG of T0=89%. With the Gaussian spatial distribution of intracavity photon density being considered, the rate equations were solved numerically and the theoretical calculations agreed with the experimental results.  相似文献

The nonlinear optical properties of Sudan I were investigated by a single beam Z-scan technique. The Sudan I ethanol solution exhibited large nonlinear refractive indices under both CW and pulse laser excitations. The nonlinear refractive indices of Sudan I were in the order of ?10?8 cm2/W under CW 633 nm excitation and ?10?6 cm2/W under CW 488 nm excitation, respectively. Under the excitation of a pulse 532 nm laser, the nonlinear refractive index n2 was calculated to be 1.19 × 10?14 cm2/W. It was discussed that the mechanism accounting for the process of nonlinear refraction was attributed to the laser heating for the CW laser excitation and the electronic effect for the pulse excitation. Moreover, the second hyperpolarizability of Sudan I was also estimated in this paper.  相似文献

We report on a LD-end-pumped passively Q-switched Nd:YAG ceramic laser by using a novel single wall carbon nanotube saturable absorber (SWCNT-SA). The SWCNT wafer was fabricated by electric Arc discharge method on quartz substrate with absorption wavelength of 1064 nm. We firstly investigated the continuous wave (CW) laser performance and scattering properties of Nd:YAG ceramic sample. For the case of passively Q-switched operation, a maximum output power of 376 mW was obtained at an incident pump power of 8.68 W at 808 nm, corresponding to an optical–optical conversion efficiency of 4.3%. The repetition rate as the increase of pump power varied from 14 to 95 kHz. The minimum pulse duration of 1.2 μs and maximum pulse energy of 4.5 μJ was generated at a repetition rate of 31.8 kHz.  相似文献
