MOS (Al/SnOx/n-Si) structure is fabricated by thin film deposition technique for gamma radiation dosimetry. A cumulative gamma dose of 480 Gy was given to the devices in steps of 120 Gy each at the dose-rate of 2 Gy/min. Forward bias IV characteristics and CV characteristics of the gamma irradiated devices have shown the changes in the current and capacitance values, respectively with gamma irradiation dose. This structure in future will be useful for personal and accidental radiation dosimetry.  相似文献

A wireless sensing method for the measurement of gamma radiation dose has been developed based on the fact that gamma rays can initiate the polymerization of acrylamide, which causes an increase in solution viscosity that can be detected with a wireless magnetoelastic sensor. The magnetoelastic sensor is able to wirelessly detect the resonance frequency shifts of a magnetoelastic foil in response to changes in solution viscosity. There is a linear relationship between the resonance frequency shift and gamma radiation dose in the range of 0–50 Gy (under optimal conditions) with a detection limit of 0.25 Gy. This method has the advantage of providing real-time, continuous measurement in situ. The method has been used successfully to determine the gamma radiation dose in real exposure scenarios, with satisfactory results.  相似文献

A dual-wavelength fiber laser with a narrow-linewidth, based on a P-F fiber filter has been proposed. Polarization-maintaining fiber Bragg grating (PM-FBG) and a F-P fiber filter are introduced based on the traditional fiber laser. PM-FBG is used as the wavelength selection device. The fiber F-P filter consists of two optical couplers and a section of un-pumped erbium-doped fiber (EDF). Due to the delay of cavity and the loss generated by the EDF, the filter has comb spectral response. The incorporation of the fiber F-P filter leads to the suppression of undesirable modes. At the room temperature, under 980 nm LD pumped, the maximum output of the two wavelengths is respectively ?2.259 dBm and 0.568 dBm, with the 3-dB bandwidth separately 0.1 nm and 0.14 nm, realizing the narrow linewidth and dual-wavelength output.  相似文献

The determination of external dose to teeth of inhabitants of settlements near the Semipalatinsk Nuclear Test Site (SNTS) was conducted using the EPR dosimetry technique to assess radiation doses associated with exposure to radioactive fallout from the test site. In this study, tooth doses have been reconstructed for 103 persons with all studied teeth having been formed before the first nuclear test in 1949. Doses above those received from natural background radiation, termed “accident doses”, were found to lie in the range from zero to approximately 2 Gy, with one exception, a dose for one person from Semipalatinsk city was approximately 9 Gy. The variability of reconstructed doses within each of the settlements demonstrated heterogeneity of the deposited fallout as well as variations in lifestyle. The village mean external gamma doses for residents of nine settlements were in the range from a few tens of mGy to approximately 100 mGy.  相似文献

The glycine (spectrophotometric read-out) dosemeter has a useful dose range of 15–4000 Gy with good reproducibility and post-irradiation stability. It is a potential dosemeter for radiation processing applications, but the dose response of the system may vary with irradiation and measurement temperature. The effect of irradiation and variation in measurement temperature on the gamma dose response of this system was investigated. The gamma dose response was found to be constant for both irradiation and measurement temperatures ranging from 10 to 50 °C, and the maximum variation in response is within ±1%.  相似文献

This study presents the first dosimetric evaluation of the alanine-in-glass dosimeter in radiation therapy. The dosimeter is composed of a Pyrex glass tube filled with pure polycrystalline alanine. 6 MV X-ray beams from a linear accelerator were used to irradiate the dosimeter in a solid water phantom to therapy-level doses ranging from 0 to 30 Gy. An X-band electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectrometer was utilized to measure the absorbed dose of the dosimeter. The doses measured by the dosimeter were compared to those from ion chamber dosimetry. It was found that the dosimeter exhibited a linear response in the dose range from 0.1 to 30 Gy. The deviation between measured and delivered doses was 0.11% over the 0.5–30 Gy range, whereas the deviation increased to about 25% at 0.1 Gy. The lowest detectable dose with an acceptable deviation limit of 5% or less was found to be 0.3 Gy. The inaccuracy in measurements at low doses can be attributed to background signals and instrument noise. The accuracy can be improved by proper selection of measurement conditions and better optimization of equipment. The findings of this study show that the alanine-in-glass dosimeter is suitable for dose measurements with acceptable accuracy down to 0.3 Gy. The dosimeter is therefore has the potential to be employed in radiotherapy applications and quality control procedures.  相似文献

PurposeTo investigate parotid perfusion in early-to-intermediate stage after parotid-sparing radiation dose using fat-saturated DCE-MRI, and to verify whether the perfusion alteration was related to radiation dose and the PSV.Methods and MaterialsThirty-two parotid glands from 16 consecutive patients with pathologically proven nasopharyngeal carcinoma treated by IMRT were examined. The parotid glands received a radiation dose of 28.9 ± 3.9 Gy with a PSV of 43.1% ± 13.9%. Perfusion parameters were calculated using time-shifted Brix model from fat-saturated DCE-MRI data before (pre-RT) and in early-to-intermediate stage after (post-RT) IMRT. Paired t-test was used to evaluate perfusion changes, while Pearson's correlation test was used to examine perfusion dependency on radiation dose and PSV. For multiple comparisons Bonferroni correction was applied.ResultsSuccessful fat saturation was achieved in 29 of 32 parotid glands. Compared with pre-RT, the post-RT parotid glands showed significantly higher A, peak enhancement, and wash-in slope, plus a lower Kel, suggesting a mixed effect of increased vascular permeability and acinar loss. Linear regression showed that peak enhancement was positively associated with radiation dose in post-RT parotid glands. Kel and slope were negatively associated with PSV, while time-to-peak was positively associated with PSV significantly.ConclusionsOur results suggest that time-shifted Brix model is feasible for quantifying parotid perfusion using DCE-MRI. The perfusion alterations in early-to-intermediate stage after IMRT might be related to a mixed effect of increased vascular permeability and acinar loss with dose and PSV dependencies.  相似文献

Optical fibers have been proposed as dosimeters in both diagnostic and radiotherapy applications. A commercial germanium (Ge)-doped silica fiber with a 50 μm core diameter which showed good thermoluminescence (TL) properties was selected for this study. The radiation sources used were a high dose rate brachytherapy iridium-192, MV photon and MeV electron beams from a linear accelerator. The coating of the fiber was chemically removed and then annealed at 400 °C for 1 h prior to irradiation. After irradiation, the fiber was read on a Harshaw Model 3500 TLD reader. The optical fiber had one well-defined glow peak at 327 ± 2 °C at all the radiotherapy energies. The dose response was linear within the clinical relevant dose for all these energies. Reproducibility was mainly within 4–6% (one standard deviation) for high energy photons and electrons. The fiber was found to be energy independent within the MV photon energy range. At room temperature the fading up until 1 month was around 6% which was within the 6% uncertainty of the sensitivity calibration of the fiber. Re-using the fiber four times did not significantly alter the sensitivity factor. The optical fiber was found to be dose rate as well as angular independent. Central axis depth dose curves of both 10 MV photons and 12 MeV electrons using the fiber showed relatively good agreement to standard depth dose curves in water within 4%. The Ge-doped fiber is a promising TL dosimeter but improvements have to be made to reduce the reproducibility within 3% for high energy photons and electrons.  相似文献

The output spectrum-stability of Er-doped superfluorescent fiber source (SFS) was measured by changing the temperature around the excited Er-doped fiber (EDF). With the experiment results, the influences of the SFS's spectrum-stability on the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of fiber optic gyroscope (FOG) were simulated. The simulated results demonstrate that the SNR of FOG will change no matter the power, mean wavelength or the spectral bandwidth of the light output from the Er-doped SFS is changing. The results show that the changing of SNR caused by the output power's variation is three orders of magnitude larger than that caused by the variation of mean wavelength or bandwidth. And the main factor influencing the stability of FOG's SNR is the temperature-stability of the output power of Er-doped SFS.  相似文献

Four Er-doped LiYF4 crystals with different Er-concentrations were grown by Czochralski method. The laser crystals were characterized by measurements of ICP-AES, XRD, absorption spectra, up-conversion fluorescence spectra, near-infrared (NIR) and mid-infrared (Mid-IR) fluorescence spectra, as well as luminescence decays. It was found that the heavily 15 at% Er-doped YLF crystal is more proper in up-conversion or ∼3 μm laser applications; while the 5 at% Er-doped YLF is a better candidate for ∼1.5 μm lasers within these four crystals.  相似文献

Measurements of indoor radon levels and gamma dose rates were performed in 42 workplaces in Ioannina, north-western Greece. Radon concentrations followed a log-normal distribution with an arithmetic mean of 95 ± 51 Bq m?3. In all cases, radon levels were below 400 Bq m?3, which is the action level implemented by the Greek Regulation for Radiation Protection, in accordance with the European Commission recommendation. Comparing summer and winter measurements, no statistically significant seasonal variation was established. However, radon concentrations measured in basement and ground floor workplaces were significantly higher (p < 0.01) than those measured in the first and upper floors. Annual effective dose rates from inhalation of radon and its decay products were estimated to be in the range from 0.13 to 1.36 mSv y?1 with a mean value of 0.62 mSv y?1. Indoor exposure to natural gamma radiation entailed an average effective dose rate of 0.13 mSv y?1, of which approximately 62% was due to terrestrial and the rest due to cosmic sources. The reported data contribute to the assessment of radon distribution and dose estimate at the national level.  相似文献

Erbium doped fiber EDF has been irradiated by a neutron dose up to 200 krad. The Gain of the C-band EDFA has been investigated at different distances from Am-241/Be-9 neutron source. An analytically model based on the classical equation of propagation was developed to perform an accurate prediction of the effects of the radiation on the erbium doped fiber amplifier, EDFA. The EDFA was exposed to a neutron beam emitted from the source for 24 hours at each distance. The gain of EDF deteriorates after being irradiated by a neutron dose. The gain of irradiated EDFA comes down to 14 dB at radiation dose of 200 Gy. The results obtained by the present model and the measured ones are in good agreement.  相似文献

The quality crystals (Calcitic limestone) were selected using the UV–visible methylene blue adsorption method. The thermostimulated luminescence (TSL) glow curve characteristics of six well crystallized limestone samples were analyzed. The glow curves of unannealed sample show only one peak in the range 320–330 °C. The sample irradiated with a gamma dose of 100 Gy shows two additional peaks in the range of 113–125 °C and 242–260 °C when recorded with linear heating rate of 10 °C/s. The annealed sample also shows the same trend as that of irradiated sample. Annealing treatment above 250 °C increases the sensitivity of all TSL peaks except 320 °C. On the other hand, annealing at 750 °C caused a collapse in the TSL sensitivity. The enhancement in TSL sensitivity was found to depend on the annealing temperature and time. Annealing treatment at 650 °C for 4 h followed by quenching in air is the optimum condition for TSL sensitization. The response to gamma irradiation is linear in the range from 0.5 Gy to 104 Gy. The emission spectra of all the samples show an emission at around 610 nm but with different intensities for each TSL peak. With reference to earlier work, it may be assumed that the recombination site always involves Mn2+ ions. The observation made through infra-red (IR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) studies with thermal treatment shows the structural changes of calcite from D3h to Cs symmetry at 750 °C. The Thermogravimetric-Differential Thermal Analysis (TG-DTA) analysis shows the calcite gets disordered at 760 °C. Hence, the collapse in the TSL sensitivity at 750 °C is due to structural change or structural disorderedness.  相似文献

Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) signals of BeO ceramics were investigated using continuous wave (CW) OSL and Linearly Modulated (LM) OSL. It was found that both curves can be approximated using a linear combination of two first-order components. Experiments on the measurement temperature dependence have shown that these two components have nearly the same thermal quenching energies around 0.57 eV. Dependences of the OSL signal on preheat temperature and radiation dose were also examined. Thermal annealing experiments have shown that OSL signals originate from traps which are unstable near 340 °C, thus proving the suitability of the signals for dosimetric purposes. Dose response was found to be linear and a minimum detectable dose of ~10 μGy was found.  相似文献

Quartz extracted from heated bricks has been previously suggested for use in dose estimation in accident dosimetry, but this technique has never been applied before to Japanese quartz which often has unusual OSL characteristics. In this study the optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) characteristics of quartz extracted from a Japanese commercial red brick produced by Mishima – Renga – Seizoujyo Co. are studied. These companies are based in the Aichi Prefecture (capital Nagoya), which accounts for about half of the red brick production in Japan. A comparison of TL (thermoluminescence) and OSL signals has been carried out towards identification of common source traps. It is observed that OSL from Japanese brick quartz shows unusual luminescence characteristics; in particular, the initial fast decaying OSL signal contains a dominant (>90%) thermally unstable component related to the 85 °C TL peak, which necessitates a prior heat treatment. A single-aliquot regenerative-dose (SAR) protocol is developed and tested using thermal treatments intended to isolate a stable dosimetric signal. A minimum detection limit of ~65 mGy is then estimated using this protocol. Following irradiation using 60Co and 137Cs, dose–depth profiles were measured on two different commercial brick types (Mishima – Renga – Seizoujyo Co. and Hase – Renga Co.) with 5 Gy and 10 Gy surface doses. The profiles derived from the two sources were readily distinguishable. It is concluded that the OSL signals from the two types of Japanese brick quartz examined here can be used to derive precise estimates of accident dose, and, possibly to distinguish between sources of gamma radiation in a nuclear accident. To our knowledge, this is the first report on the existence of an unstable fast decaying OSL signal in quartz derived from bricks, and demonstrates a way forward with such samples in retrospective dosimetry.  相似文献

Topaz shows thermoluminescence (TL) on heating after exposure to ionising radiation. A study was carried out to explore the possibility to design and develop a TLD (thermoluminescence dosimeter) from locally occurring topaz. Topaz was collected from a mine in Yono Shigar valley in northern Pakistan. The samples were identified as topaz by neutron irradiation, X-ray diffraction and X-ray fluorescence. The crystals of topaz were cut into chips of dimensions compatible to the commercial TLD readers. The chips were exposed to 60Co and/or 137Cs gamma irradiators. The investigation features included glow curve, dose and energy responses, sensitivity, fading, reproducibility and mechanical stability. The TL glow curves revealed a stable peak at about 250 °C, whose height rose linearly with increase of irradiation dose. The TL response versus dose (calibration curve) showed the linear behaviour between 10?2 and 102 Gy. The dose response was independent of gamma energies of 60Co and 137Cs. The response of topaz chips remained constant within 10% deviation from the initial value after 30 cycles of reuse. The rate of fading of topaz was very fast just after irradiation and slowed after a few days. Mechanical stability of the chips remained constant during handling in all investigation experiments. The topaz from Yono Shigar mine may be recommended as a TLD for gamma dose within 10?2–102 Gy.  相似文献

The novel multi-wavelength fiber ring laser based on a sampled chirped fiber Bragg grating with a single SOA or a hybrid gain medium is demonstrated, respectively. In case of a hybrid gain medium, the SMSR improvement of ~ 5 dB was obtained when compared with the system with a single SOA. The proposed fiber laser offers advantages such as simple structure, low loss, multi-wavelength lasing lines with moderate output power.  相似文献

We demonstrate a new optical bistability devise by using two Fiber Bragg Gratings (FBG), in which an erbium-doped fiber (EDF) is inserted to form a nonlinear Fabry–Perot cavity (EDF FBG/F–P). The operation principle of this device is described by the resonant nonlinearity theory combining with the transfer matrix method. The optical bistability behaviors under different parameters are investigated. It shows that EDF FBG/F–P device has an evident merit in reducing the threshold switching power to 7 mW, resulting in a reduction about 6 orders, compared with that of single FBG device. Moreover, the ultra-fast response time about 35 ps is also confirmed.  相似文献

This study attempts to overcome some of the reported discrepancies in alanine-EPR reproducibility that may be related to alanine dosimeter preparation and/or EPR spectrometer settings. The dosimeters were prepared by packing pure polycrystalline L-α-alanine directly as supplied by the manufacturer in glass tubes. This dosimeter production scheme avoids any possible contribution to the EPR signal from a binding material. The dosimeters were irradiated with gamma ray to low-dose ranges typical for medical therapy (0–20 Gy). Special attention has been paid to the study of minimum detectable dose, measurement repeatability and reproducibility, and post-irradiation stability. The dosimeter exhibited a linear dose response in the dose range from 0.1 to 20 Gy. These positive properties favor the polycrystalline alanine-in-glass tube as a radiation dosimeter.  相似文献

A wide-band supercontinuum source generated by mode-locked pulses injected into a Highly Non-Linear Fiber (HNLF) is proposed and demonstrated. A 49 cm long Bismuth–Erbium Doped Fiber (Bi–EDF) pumped by two 1480 nm laser diodes acts as the active gain medium for a ring fiber laser, from which mode-locked pulses are obtained using the Non-Polarization Rotation (NPR) technique. The mode-locked pulses are then injected into a 100 m long HLNF with a dispersion of 0.15 ps/nm km at 1550 nm to generate a supercontinuum spectrum spanning from 1340 nm to more than 1680 nm with a pulse width of 0.08 ps and an average power of ?17 dBm. The supercontinuum spectrum is sliced using a 24 channel Arrayed Waveguide Grating (AWG) with a channel spacing of 100 GHz to obtain a fanned-out laser output covering the O-, E-, S-, C-, L- and U-bands. The lasing wavelengths obtained have an average pulse width of 9 ps with only minor fluctuations and a mode-locked repetition rate of 40 MHz, and is sufficiently stable to be used in a variety of sensing and communication applications, most notably as cost-effective sources for Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) networks.  相似文献
