Recently, a class of parameterized inexact Uzawa methods has been proposed for generalized saddle point problems by Bai and Wang [Z.-Z. Bai, Z.-Q. Wang, On parameterized inexact Uzawa methods for generalized saddle point problems, Linear Algebra Appl. 428 (2008) 2900–2932], and a generalization of the inexact parameterized Uzawa method has been studied for augmented linear systems by Chen and Jiang [F. Chen, Y.-L. Jiang, A generalization of the inexact parameterized Uzawa methods for saddle point problems, Appl. Math. Comput. (2008)]. This paper is concerned about a generalization of the parameterized inexact Uzawa method for solving the generalized saddle point problems with nonzero (2, 2) blocks. Some new iterative methods are presented and their convergence are studied in depth. By choosing different parameter matrices, we derive a series of existing and new iterative methods, including the preconditioned Uzawa method, the inexact Uzawa method, the SOR-like method, the GSOR method, the GIAOR method, the PIU method, the APIU method and so on. Numerical experiments are used to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the generalized parameterized inexact Uzawa methods.  相似文献

This paper studies convergence analysis of a preconditioned inexact Uzawa method for nondifferentiable saddle-point problems. The SOR-Newton method and the SOR-BFGS method are special cases of this method. We relax the Bramble-Pasciak-Vassilev condition on preconditioners for convergence of the inexact Uzawa method for linear saddle-point problems. The relaxed condition is used to determine the relaxation parameters in the SOR-Newton method and the SOR-BFGS method. Furthermore, we study global convergence of the multistep inexact Uzawa method for nondifferentiable saddle-point problems.  相似文献

The Krasnoselskii–Mann iteration plays an important role in the approximation of fixed points of nonexpansive operators; it is known to be weakly convergent in the infinite dimensional setting. In this present paper, we provide a new inexact Krasnoselskii–Mann iteration and prove weak convergence under certain accuracy criteria on the error resulting from the inexactness. We also show strong convergence for a modified inexact Krasnoselskii–Mann iteration under suitable assumptions. The convergence results generalize existing ones from the literature. Applications are given to the Douglas–Rachford splitting method, the Fermat–Weber location problem as well as the alternating projection method by John von Neumann.  相似文献

In this paper, we first present a local Hermitian and skew-Hermitian splitting (LHSS) iteration method for solving a class of generalized saddle point problems. The new method converges to the solution under suitable restrictions on the preconditioning matrix. Then we give a modified LHSS (MLHSS) iteration method, and further extend it to the generalized saddle point problems, obtaining the so-called generalized MLHSS (GMLHSS) iteration method. Numerical experiments for a model Navier-Stokes problem are given, and the results show that the new methods outperform the classical Uzawa method and the inexact parameterized Uzawa method.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a class of Uzawa-SOR methods for saddle point problems, and prove the convergence of the proposed methods. We solve a lower triangular system per iteration in the proposed methods, instead of solving a linear equation Az=b. Actually, the new methods can be considered as an inexact iteration method with the Uzawa as the outer iteration and the SOR as the inner iteration. Although the proposed methods cannot achieve the same convergence rate as the GSOR methods proposed by Bai et al. [Z.-Z. Bai, B.N. Parlett, Z.-Q. Wang, On generalized successive overrelaxation methods for augmented linear systems, Numer. Math. 102 (2005) 1-38], but our proposed methods have less workloads per iteration step. Experimental results show that our proposed methods are feasible and effective.  相似文献

n this paper, we present an inexact inverse subspace iteration method for computing a few eigenpairs of the generalized eigenvalue problem Ax=λBx. We first formulate a version of inexact inverse subspace iteration in which the approximation from one step is used as an initial approximation for the next step. We then analyze the convergence property, which relates the accuracy in the inner iteration to the convergence rate of the outer iteration. In particular, the linear convergence property of the inverse subspace iteration is preserved. Numerical examples are given to demonstrate the theoretical results.  相似文献

Summary. In this paper we consider additive Schwarz-type iteration methods for saddle point problems as smoothers in a multigrid method. Each iteration step of the additive Schwarz method requires the solutions of several small local saddle point problems. This method can be viewed as an additive version of a (multiplicative) Vanka-type iteration, well-known as a smoother for multigrid methods in computational fluid dynamics. It is shown that, under suitable conditions, the iteration can be interpreted as a symmetric inexact Uzawa method. In the case of symmetric saddle point problems the smoothing property, an important part in a multigrid convergence proof, is analyzed for symmetric inexact Uzawa methods including the special case of the additive Schwarz-type iterations. As an example the theory is applied to the Crouzeix-Raviart mixed finite element for the Stokes equations and some numerical experiments are presented. In this work, we consider numerical methods for solving a class of block three‐by‐three saddle‐point problems, which arise from finite element methods for solving time‐dependent Maxwell equations and some other applications. The direct extension of the Uzawa method for solving this block three‐by‐three saddle‐point problem requires the exact solution of a symmetric indefinite system of linear equations at each step. To avoid heavy computations at each step, we propose an inexact Uzawa method, which solves the symmetric indefinite linear system in some inexact way. Under suitable assumptions, we show that the inexact Uzawa method converges to the unique solution of the saddle‐point problem within the approximation level. Two special algorithms are customized for the inexact Uzawa method combining the splitting iteration method and a preconditioning technique, respectively. Numerical experiments are presented, which demonstrated the usefulness of the inexact Uzawa method and the two customized algorithms.  相似文献

Hermitian and skew-Hermitian splitting(HSS) method has been proved quite successfully in solving large sparse non-Hermitian positive definite systems of linear equations. Recently, by making use of HSS method as inner iteration, Newton-HSS method for solving the systems of nonlinear equations with non-Hermitian positive definite Jacobian matrices has been proposed by Bai and Guo. It has shown that the Newton-HSS method outperforms the Newton-USOR and the Newton-GMRES iteration methods. In this paper, a class of modified Newton-HSS methods for solving large systems of nonlinear equations is discussed. In our method, the modified Newton method with R-order of convergence three at least is used to solve the nonlinear equations, and the HSS method is applied to approximately solve the Newton equations. For this class of inexact Newton methods, local and semilocal convergence theorems are proved under suitable conditions. Moreover, a globally convergent modified Newton-HSS method is introduced and a basic global convergence theorem is proved. Numerical results are given to confirm the effectiveness of our method.  相似文献

In this paper two classes of iterative methods for saddle point problems are considered: inexact Uzawa algorithms and a class of methods with symmetric preconditioners. In both cases the iteration matrix can be transformed to a symmetric matrix by block diagonal matrices, a simple but essential observation which allows one to estimate the convergence rate of both classes by studying associated eigenvalue problems. The obtained estimates apply for a wider range of situations and are partially sharper than the known estimates in literature. A few numerical tests are given which confirm the sharpness of the estimates.

In this paper we study inexact inverse iteration for solving the generalised eigenvalue problem A xM x. We show that inexact inverse iteration is a modified Newton method and hence obtain convergence rates for various versions of inexact inverse iteration for the calculation of an algebraically simple eigenvalue. In particular, if the inexact solves are carried out with a tolerance chosen proportional to the eigenvalue residual then quadratic convergence is achieved. We also show how modifying the right hand side in inverse iteration still provides a convergent method, but the rate of convergence will be quadratic only under certain conditions on the right hand side. We discuss the implications of this for the preconditioned iterative solution of the linear systems. Finally we introduce a new ILU preconditioner which is a simple modification to the usual preconditioner, but which has advantages both for the standard form of inverse iteration and for the version with a modified right hand side. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the theoretical results. AMS subject classification (2000)  65F15, 65F10  相似文献

The inexact Rayleigh quotient iteration (RQI) is used for computing the smallest eigenpair of a large Hermitian matrix. Under certain condition, the method was proved to converge quadratically in literature. However, it is shown in this paper that under the original given condition the inexact RQI may not quadratically converge to the desired eigenpair and even may misconverge to some other undesired eigenpair. A new condition, called the uniform positiveness condition, is given that can fix misconvergence problem and ensure the quadratic convergence of the inexact RQI. An alternative to the inexact RQI is the Jacobi-Davidson (JD) method without subspace acceleration. A new proof of its linear convergence is presented and a sharper bound is established in the paper. All the results are verified and analyzed by numerical experiments. In this paper, the convergence property of the inexact Uzawa algorithm for solving symmetric indefinite linear systems is studied. A simple sufficient condition for the convergence of the inexact Uzawa algorithm is obtained. Two examples and numerical experiments illustrating the conclusion are provided.  相似文献

In this paper a stabilizing augmented Lagrangian technique for the Stokes equations is studied. The method is consistent and hence does not change the continuous solution. We show that this stabilization improves the well-posedness of the continuous problem for small values of the viscosity coefficient. We analyze the influence of this stabilization on the accuracy of the finite element solution and on the convergence properties of the inexact Uzawa method.

Inexact Newton regularization methods have been proposed by Hanke and Rieder for solving nonlinear ill-posed inverse problems. Every such a method consists of two components: an outer Newton iteration and an inner scheme providing increments by regularizing local linearized equations. The method is terminated by a discrepancy principle. In this paper we consider the inexact Newton regularization methods with the inner scheme defined by Landweber iteration, the implicit iteration, the asymptotic regularization and Tikhonov regularization. Under certain conditions we obtain the order optimal convergence rate result which improves the suboptimal one of Rieder. We in fact obtain a more general order optimality result by considering these inexact Newton methods in Hilbert scales.  相似文献

For any continuous bilinear form defined on a pair of Hilbert spaces satisfying the compatibility Ladyshenskaya–Babušca–Brezzi condition, symmetric Schur complement operators can be defined on each of the two Hilbert spaces. In this paper, we find bounds for the spectrum of the Schur operators only in terms of the compatibility and continuity constants. In light of the new spectral results for the Schur complements, we review the classical Babušca–Brezzi theory, find sharp stability estimates, and improve a convergence result for the inexact Uzawa algorithm. We prove that for any symmetric saddle point problem, the inexact Uzawa algorithm converges, provided that the inexact process for inverting the residual at each step has the relative error smaller than 1/3. As a consequence, we provide a new type of algorithm for discretizing saddle point problems, which combines the inexact Uzawa iterations with standard a posteriori error analysis and does not require the discrete stability conditions.  相似文献

By reformulating the linear complementarity problem into a new equivalent fixed‐point equation, we deduce a modified modulus method, which is a generalization of the classical one. Convergence for this new method and the optima of the parameter involved are analyzed. Then, an inexact iteration process for this new method is presented, which adopts some kind of iterative methods for determining an approximate solution to each system of linear equations involved in the outer iteration. Global convergence for this inexact modulus method and two specific implementations for the inner iterations are discussed. Numerical results show that our new methods are more efficient than the classical one under suitable conditions. Copyright © 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The inexact cubic-regularized Newton’s method (CR) proposed by Cartis, Gould and Toint achieves the same convergence rate as exact CR proposed by Nesterov and Polyak, but the inexact condition is not implementable due to its dependence on a future variable. This note establishes the same convergence rate under a similar but implementable inexact condition, which depends on only current variables. Our proof bounds the function-value decrease over total iterations rather than each iteration in the previous studies.  相似文献

Summary. In this paper, we consider some nonlinear inexact Uzawa methods for iteratively solving linear saddle-point problems. By means of a new technique, we first give an essential improvement on the convergence results of Bramble-Paschiak-Vassilev for a known nonlinear inexact Uzawa algorithm. Then we propose two new algorithms, which can be viewed as a combination of the known nonlinear inexact Uzawa method with the classical steepest descent method and conjugate gradient method respectively. The two new algorithms converge under very practical conditions and do not require any apriori estimates on the minimal and maximal eigenvalues of the preconditioned systems involved, including the preconditioned Schur complement. Numerical results of the algorithms applied for the Stokes problem and a purely linear system of algebraic equations are presented to show the efficiency of the algorithms.
