Dynamics of the flux lattice in the mixed state of strongly type-II superconductor near the upper critical field subjected to AC field and interacting with a periodic array of short range pinning centers is considered. The superconductor in a magnetic field in the absence of thermal fluctuations on is described by the time-dependent Ginzburg–Landau equations. For a special case of the δ-function shaped pinning centers and for pinning array commensurate with the Abrikosov lattice (so that vortices outnumber pinning centers) an analytic expression or the AC conductivity is obtained. It is found that below a certain critical pinning strength and for sufficiently low frequencies there exists a sliding Abrikosov lattice, which vibrates nearly uniformly despite interactions with the pinning centers. At very small frequencies the conductivity diverges at the critical pinning strength.  相似文献

Modulated electronic state due to the layered crystal structures brings about moderate anisotropy of superconductivity in the iron-based superconductors and thus Abrikosov vortices are expected in the mixed state. However, based on the angular and temperature dependent transport measurements in iron-based superconductor Ca$_{10}$(Pt$_3$As$_8$)((Fe$_{0.9}$Pt$_{0.1}$)$_2$As$_2$)$_5$ with $T_{\rm c} \simeq 12$ K, we find clear evidences of a crossover from Abrikosov vortices to Josephson vortices at a crossover temperature $T^{\star} \simeq 7 $ K, when the applied magnetic field is parallel to the superconducting FeAs layers, i.e., the angle between the magnetic field and the FeAs layers $\theta = 0^\circ$. This crossover to Josephson vortices is demonstrated by an abnormal decrease (increase) of the critical current (flux-flow resistance) below $T^{\star}$, in contrast to the increase (decrease) of the critical current (flux-flow resistance) above $T^{\star}$ expected for Abrikosov vortices. Furthermore, when $\theta$ is larger than $0.5^\circ$, the flux-flow resistance and critical current have no anomalous behaviors across $T^{\star}$. These anomalous behaviors can be understood in terms of the distinct transition from the well-pinned Abrikosov vortices to the weakly-pinned Josephson vortices upon cooling, when the coherent length perpendicular to the FeAs layers $\xi_\bot$ becomes shorter than half of the interlayer distance $d/2$. These experimental findings indicate the existence of intrinsic Josephson junctions below $T^{\star}$ and thus quasi-two-dimensional superconductivity in Ca$_{10}$(Pt$_3$As$_8$)((Fe$_{0.9}$Pt$_{0.1}$)$_2$As$_2$)$_5$, similar to those in the cuprate superconductors.  相似文献

Because of attraction of the parallel currents forming an Abrikosov vortex, the vortex energy per unit length decreases, under bending of the vortex, by a quantity proportional to the square of the curvature. Solving the London equation in an approximation allowing for this effect makes it possible to calculate the energy of an Abrikosov vortex in the form of a helix whose length and pitch are much larger than the correlation length, whose curvature is small compared to the reciprocal London length, and whose slope in relation to an axis coinciding with the direction in which the vortex energy is the highest is also small. When the anisotropy is large, which is characteristic of high-T c superconductors, the energy of such an Abrikosov vortex is lower than that of a straight Abrikosov vortex. Certain consequences of the fact that the Abrikosov vortices in a high-T c superconductor are helical are discussed. Among these is a phase transition that breaks the symmetry between Abrikosov vortices shaped like right-and left-hand helixes in relation to the magnetic field. Zh. éksp. Teor. The effect of the magnetic field variation rate on the high-frequency absorption of surface superconductivity of cylindrical samples has been studied. It has been shown that the magnitude of additional highfrequency absorption attributed to Kulik vortices does not demonstrate saturation and other critical changes up to a magnetic field variation rate of 350 kOe/s, which indicates that the velocity of motion of Kulik vortices is higher than that of Abrikosov vortices. The effect of the normal core of the sample on the dynamics of a magnetic flux has been discussed.  相似文献

The intuition from condensed-matter physics is commonly used to generate ideas for possible confinement mechanisms in gauge theories. Today, with a clear but puzzling “spaghetti” confinement pattern arising from a decade of lattice computer experiments and implying the formation of a fluctuating net of peculiar magnetic vortices rather than condensation of homogeneously distributed magnetic monopoles, the time has come to reverse logic and search for similar patterns in condensed-matter systems. The main effect to be sought in a condensed-matter setup is the simultaneous existence of narrow tubes (P-vortices or 1-branes) of the direction-changing electric field and broader tubes (Abrikosov lines) of the magnetic field, a pattern dual to the one presumably underlying the confinement in gluodynamics. As one possible place to search, we suggest systems with coexisting charge-density waves and superconductivity.  相似文献

The intervortex interaction is investigated in very anisotropic layered superconductors in tilted magnetic field. In such a case, the crossing lattice of Abrikosov vortices (AVs) and Josephson vortices (JVs) appears. The interaction between pancake vortices, forming the AVs and JVs, produces the deformation of the AV line. It is demonstrated that, as a result of this deformation, a long range attraction between AVs is induced. This phenomenon is responsible for the dense vortex chain formation. The vortex structure in the weak perpendicular magnetic field is the vortex chain phase, where only a small part of JVs is occupied by AVs.  相似文献

Abstract

The phenomenological theory of superconductors with a many-component order parameter (OP) is developed. On the basis of a generalized Ginzburg-Landau functional, equations for a two-component-OP superconductor are derived. It is shown that such a superconductor is specified by three length dimensionality parameters—penetration depth λ, correlation length ζ, and width d of the boundary between two superconducting-phase domains. With λ ? d ? ζ, the equations for the OP of a superconductor in a magnetic field can be explored analytically. The transition from the superconducting to the mixed phase may occur not only by the formation of ordinary Abrikosov vortices, but also owing to vortices that have two cores, each transferring a half-integral flux quantum. The total flux transferred by a vortex certainly constitutes an integral quantum. The cores of such a dimer are interconnected by two domain walls, which exercise confinement within the dimer. The distance between the cores in the dimer is of the order of d. Within a domain wall that separates two superconducting-phase domains, a dimer may fall apart into two vortices with a half-integral flux quantum.

For many-component-OP superconductors in a magnetic field, vortex structures of a more complicated nature than a dimer may occur. An individual core may transfer a fractional flux quantum, but the structure as a whole transfers an integral flux quantum. Confinement of individual cores occurs owing to a complicated system of domain walls determined by the topological charges of these vortices.

Under certain conditions, on attaining field H c1, vortices may arise first in the domain walls, carrying a fractional flux quantum, and then within the superconducting domains.  相似文献

We demonstrate the creation of vortices in the electronic probability density of an atom subject to short electric field pulses, how these vortices evolve and can be manipulated by varying the applied pulses, and that they persist to macroscopic distances in the spectrum of ejected electrons. This opens the possibility to use practical femtosecond or shorter laser pulses to create and manipulate these vortex quasiparticles at the atomic scale and observe them in the laboratory. Within a hydrodynamic interpretation we also show, since the Schr?dinger equation is a particular instance of the Navier-Stokes equations, that for compressible fluids vortices can appear spontaneously and with a certain time delay, which is not expected to occur from the conventional point of view, illustrating applicability of the present study to vortex formation more broadly.  相似文献

Penetration by Abrikosov flux lines of an isotropic hard superconductor in the critical state induced by changes in the orientation of external magnetic field has been theoretically investigated. The analysis has been based on the microscopic nonlocal model taking into account forces of bulk and surface pinning, alongside magnetic forces of interaction of the row of penetrating vortices with existing flux lines, Meissner currents, and vortex images. New vortices penetrate a superconductor only when the angle through which the field is rotated is larger than a certain critical value. It has been determined that the alignment of entering vortices is essentially different from that of the applied magnetic field. The feasibility of detecting noncollinearity effects is discussed. Based on Duan's topological current theory, we show that in a ferromagnetic spin-triplet superconductor there is a topological defect of string structures which can be interpreted as vortex lines. Such defects are different from the Abrikosov vortices in one-component condensate systems. We investigate the inner topological structure of the vortex lines. The topological charge density, velocity, and topological current of the vortex lines can all be expressed in terms of δ function, which indicates that the vortices can only arise from the zero points of an order parameter field. The topological charges of vortex lines are quantized in terms of the Hopf indices and Brouwer degrees of φ-mapping. The divergence of the self-induced magnetic field can be rigorously determined by the corresponding order parameter fields and its expression also takes the form of a δ-like function. Finally, based on the implicit function theorem and the Taylor expansion, we conduct detailed studies on the bifurcation of vortex topological current and find different directions of the bifurcation.  相似文献

Using an extended Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model as a low-energy effective model of QCD, we show that the vacuum in a strong external magnetic field (stronger than 10(16) T) experiences a spontaneous phase transition to an electromagnetically superconducting state. The unexpected superconductivity of, basically, empty space is induced by emergence of quark-antiquark vector condensates with quantum numbers of electrically charged rho mesons. The superconducting phase possesses an anisotropic inhomogeneous structure similar to a periodic Abrikosov lattice in a type-II superconductor. The superconducting vacuum is made of a new type of vortices which are topological defects in the charged vector condensates. The superconductivity is realized along the axis of the magnetic field only. We argue that this effect is absent in pure QED.  相似文献

We consider the ground state of vortices in a Bose-Einstein condensate. We show that turning on a weak optical periodic potential leads to a transition from the triangular Abrikosov vortex lattice to phases where the vortices are pinned by the optical potential. We discuss the phase diagram of the system for a two-dimensional optical periodic potential with one vortex per optical lattice cell. We also discuss the influence of a one-dimensional optical periodic potential on the vortex ground state. The latter situation has no analog in other condensed-matter systems.  相似文献

By exploiting an analogy with electric circuit theory, we study the Ginzburg-Landau equations of a superconducting network in a uniform magnetic field. For the geometry of a Sierpinski gasket (which serves as a model of a granular superconductor close to the percolation threshold) general recursion relations are derived. By numerical evaluation we determine the distribution of vortices in the gasket and the resulting diamagnetic moment as a function of the applied field. The effect of the destruction of self similarity is also discussed.  相似文献

A change in the effect of a frozen magnetic field parallel to the c-axis on rf power absorption, which is associated with the motion of Josephson vortices, is observed in the layered superconductor Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 at a low temperature (~15 K). The effect is interpreted as a change in the interaction between an Abrikosov vortex and a Josephson vortex from attraction (at high temperatures) to repulsion (at low temperatures). It is found that the dynamics of the magnetic flux parallel to the ab plane of the single crystal becomes irreversible upon a transition of the superconductor to the layered state. Possible reasons behind the observed effect are considered, one of them being a manifestation of the second superconducting transition in the elementary-excitation spectrum of a d-type superconductor near the core of Abrikosov vortices.  相似文献

A system of Abrikosov vortices in a quasi-two-dimensional HTSC plate is considered for various periodic lattices of pinning centers. The magnetization and equilibrium configurations of the vortex density for various values of external magnetic field and temperature are calculated using the Monte Carlo method. It is found that the interaction of the vortex system with the periodic lattice of pinning centers leads to the formation of various ordered vortex states through which the vortex system passes upon an increase or a decrease in the magnetic field. It is shown that ordered vortex states, as well as magnetic field screening processes, are responsible for the emergence of clearly manifested peaks on the magnetization curves. Extended pinning centers and the effect of multiple trapping of vortices on the behavior of magnetization are considered. Melting and crystallization of the vortex system under the periodic pinning conditions are investigated. It is found that the vortex system can crystallize upon heating in the case of periodic pinning.  相似文献

Direct evidence of the existence of broken Abrikosov vortices is obtained from measurements of the distribution and values of residual magnetic fields in ceramic yttrium HTSC samples after the switching off of a transport current. In this case, the intergrain magnetic induction averaged over the sample volume has the same direction as the field that was in the sample before the current was switched off.  相似文献

The distribution of a local magnetic field near the surface of a uniaxial anisotropic type-II superconductor is determined in the framework of the London model in the case when the Abrikosov vortices are randomly distributed in the superconductor. The distribution of a local magnetic field is obtained as a function of the distance from the surface of the superconductor. It is demonstrated that the shape of the distribution of the local magnetic field near the surface differs substantially from that in the bulk of the superconductor. This difference should be taken into account in interpreting experimental data on the local magnetic field in the surface region of the superconductor and in thin superconducting films (with a thickness of less than or equal to λ, where λ is the depth of penetration of the magnetic field into the superconductor). It is shown that, as in the case of a regular lattice of vortices, the value of λ can be determined from observations of the distribution of the local magnetic field in type-II superconductors with an uncorrelated random lattice of vortices.  相似文献
