Spectral anomalies of diffracted pulsed Bessel beams in dispersive media   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Starting from the Huygens–Fresnel diffraction integral, the analytical expression for the power spectrum of diffracted pulsed Bessel beams in a dispersive media is derived and used to study the spectral anomalies of pulsed Bessel beams in the far field. Numerical results are given to illustrate the dependence of the anomalous spectral behavior on the pulse parameters, aperture parameter and dispersive properties of the medium. It is shown that, near phase singularities, anomalous spectral behavior may take place. The potential applications of spectral anomalies of ultrashort pulsed beams in information encoding and information transmission are considered.  相似文献

Starting from the Rayleigh–Sommerfeld diffraction integral, the closed-form expressions for the near- and far-field power spectra of diffracted pulsed cosh-Gaussian (ChG) beams propagating in dispersive media are derived, and the anomalous behavior of the far-field spectrum of diffracted pulsed ChG beams in dispersive media is studied. It is shown that near the phase singularities, the spectral switch may take place. The truncation parameter, decentered parameter and pulse duration of pulsed ChG beams and the dispersive property of the medium affect the behavior of the spectral switch of pulsed ChG beams.  相似文献

Starting from the Rayleigh diffraction integral, the propagation equation of ultrashort pulsed beams in dispersive media is derived without making the paraxial approximation and slowly varying envelope approximation (SVEA). The spatiotemporal properties of ultrashort pulsed beams in dispersive media, such as spectrum redshifting, narrowing and pulse distortion are illustrated with pulsed Gaussian beams. It is stressed that the “antibeam“ behaviour of ultrashort pulsed beams can be avoided, if a suitable truncation function is chosen.  相似文献

Under the condition that the propagation constant k in dispersive media should be larger than zero, a simple method is proposed to eliminate the spatial singularity of ultrashort pulsed beams propagating in dispersive media. Taking the pulsed Gaussian beam (PGB) as a typical example, the analytical propagation equation in the space–time domain is derived and the spatiotemporal propagation properties of PGBs in normal and anomalous dispersive media are discussed both analytically and numerically. The temporal and spectral properties of ultrashort pulsed Laguerre-Gaussian (LG) beams propagating in dispersive media are studied both theoretically and numerically. It is shown that the on-axis pulse broadens with increasing propagation distance and the on-axis spectrum is blueshifted. For the off-axis spectrum the blueshifts decrease and then the spectrum becomes redshifted as the radial distance increases. The propagation of ultrashort pulsed LG beams in free space and of ultrashort pulsed Gaussian beams can be regarded as special cases of our results, and some interesting properties are discussed.  相似文献

The spectral behavior of polychromatic spatially fully coherent Gaussian beams diffracted at an aperture in the far field is studied based on the propagation law of the cross-spectral density function. Detailed numerical calculation results are presented, and illustrated. It is shown that the spectral changes take place in the vicinity of zeros of the Airy pattern, and the spectral modifier depends on the truncation parameter δ and diffraction angle α. The critical diffraction angle αc, at which the spectrum is split into two lines with equal height i.e., the spectral switch appears, varies with truncation parameter δ. The spectral switch vanishes if δ becomes large enough. A detailed comparison with the previous publications is given, showing somewhat extension made in our work.  相似文献

The spectral and spatiotemporal properties of Bessel–Gauss pulsed beams focused by a dispersive aperture lens are studied, where the dispersion of the first, second, and higher orders is taken into consideration. It is shown that the spectral switches take place at the geometrical focal plane, and the dispersion of the first order leads to a shift of the critical position towards the z-axis. The dispersion plays a noticeable role in the spatiotemporal intensity distribution. The dispersion of the first order results in a decrease of the peak intensity, in a shift and a broadening of the pulse form, and the effect becomes more noticeable with increasing waist width. The dispersion of the second order results in a further broadening and a decrease of the peak intensity, and the effect is larger as the thickness of the lens increases. However, the dispersion of the higher order plays a relatively minor role. The results are illustrated by numerical examples and interpreted physically.  相似文献

Based on the generalized Rayleigh diffraction integral, the spectral shifts and spectral switches of nonparaxial partially coherent beams diffracted at an aperture are studied. Our main attention is paid to the effect of beam nonparaxiality on the spectral switches of partially coherent beams. It is shown that the spatial coherent parameter β, trunction parameter δ and waist width-to-central wavelength ratio w0/λ0 affect the behavior of spectral switches. Only when β, δ and w0/λ0 satisfy certain conditions, can the difference between the nonparaxial and paraxial results be negligible. The discrepancy arises physically from the change of the spectral modifier by using the paraxial approximation.  相似文献

Starting from the Rayleigh-Sommerfeld diffraction integral and without invoking the paraxial approximation, analytical expressions for the field distribution, far-field power spectrum and temporal far-field distribution of chirped Gaussian pulses diffracted at a circular aperture are derived, which enables us to study the spectral anomalous behavior of diffracted chirped Gaussian pulses in the far field. The potential applications of spectral anomalies of ultrashort pulses are discussed. It is found that at the critical angle the spectral switch appears. The frequency difference between the two equal heights of spectral switches increases and the corresponding critical diffraction angle slightly increases as the chirp parameter increases and pulse duration decreases. In a certain region of the truncation parameter, the critical angle decreases with increasing truncation parameter. By suitably varying the pulse duration, chirp parameter and truncation parameter, information encoding and transmission are achievable in the use of chirped Gaussian pulses.  相似文献

The influence of turbulence on the spectrum of diffracted chirped Gaussian pulsed beams is studied in detail. By using the quadratic approximation of the Rytov’s phase structure function and the finite expansion of the aperture function, the analytical expression for the spectrum of diffracted chirped Gaussian pulsed beams propagating through atmospheric turbulence is derived. It is shown that in free space there exist the on-axis and off-axis multi-spectral switch for diffracted chirped Gaussian pulsed beams. However, the turbulence results in a decrease of the spectral transition height, and the spectral switch even disappears when the turbulence is strong enough, which is very different from the behavior of undiffracted chirped Gaussian pulsed beams. Specially, with increasing the strength of turbulence, the higher-order spectral switch disappears firstly for on-axis case, while the lower-order spectral switch disappears firstly for off-axis case. In free space the on-axis spectrum is blue-shifted after a certain propagation distance, but the on-axis spectrum is red-shifted after a shorter propagation distance when the turbulence is strong enough. The spectral transition height increases with increasing the chirp parameter and decreasing the pulse duration, and the odd number order position without spectral shift is independent of the chirp parameter and pulse duration.  相似文献

The propagation of Hermite-cosh-Gaussian (HChG) laser beams in n-InSb are investigated for 0, 1 and 2 mode indices. The field distribution in the medium is expressed in terms of beam-width parameter f and decentred parameter b. The differential equations for f-parameter are established by parabolic wave equation approach under paraxial approximation. Analytical solutions are obtained under the condition Rn < Rd, where, Rn is the self-focusing length and Rd is the diffraction length. The behaviour of f-parameter with the dimensionless distance of propagation η for various b values is examined by numerical estimates. The results are presented graphically.  相似文献
