The quantum states of carriers in 2D doubly periodic n-type semiconducting superlattices without spatial inversion symmetry in an external magnetic field are calculated in the one-electron approximation. It is shown that the spin-orbit interaction and spin splitting in the magnetic field may lead to the occurrence of the photovoltaic effect in a 2D electron gas without an inversion center and to a nonzero spin magnetization of the electron gas in the plane perpendicular to the magnetic field.  相似文献

Quantum states of 2D electrons are studied in a periodic potential without inversion center in the presence of a magnetic field. It is shown that the energy spectrum in magnetic subbands is not symmetric about the center of magnetic Brillouin zone E(k)≠E(?k). Singularities (phase branching points) of the electron wave function, which determine the quantization law of Hall conductivity σxy, are studied in the k space. It is found that a sharp change takes place in the number of points in the magnetic Brillouin zone and in the corresponding values of topological invariants determining the Hall conductivity of filled subbands. It is noted that the longitudinal conductivity of a lattice without inversion center placed in a magnetic field is not invariant with respect to a change in sign of the electric field, and a photovoltaic effect must arise in an ac electromagnetic field.  相似文献

A dressed-state study of lasing without population inversion from a three-level atom interacting with a bichromatic laser field in the ladder configuration is being formulated. The system is allowed to be dressed by both laser-field photons (double dressing). The temporal behavior of the system under consideration is being explored numerically. Although the use of dressed-basis density matrix equations introduces major complexity into the equations, this procedure has crucial importance to the understanding of the atomic spectrum and the underlying physics of the processes involved. The system is found to possess a gain without population inversion, as well as a regular gain with inversion for various transitions, both in the transient and steady-state regimes. Enhancement of the refractive index accompanied by vanishingly small absorption was also found. The frequency response of various transitions is explored via numerical Fourier analysis. Some transitions are found to exhibit a dispersion-like line shape, clear evidence of a quantum-coherent interference effect. The spectrum consists of two distinct quintets centered about the coupling and probe-laser frequencies. The spectral features consisting of each quintet are located symmetrically (at resonance conditions only) around the line center at positions shifted from the center by the generalized Rabi and double Rabi frequencies.  相似文献

The ground state of a chain of single-domain magnetic particles has been theoretically analyzed. The conditions under which this state corresponds to a noncollinear structure in zero external magnetic field are determined. Such noncollinear states are due to the features of the long-range magnetostatic interactions in the systems without the center of inversion.  相似文献

Natural optical activity in magnetic media for which the exchange interaction dominates is studied theoretically. It is shown using a phenomenological theory that the optical activity effect can be observed in a medium with a nonuniform noncoplanar magnetization distribution without an inversion center. A microscopic theory of the optical activity is constructed for a medium with a helicoidal magnetic structure.  相似文献

The effect of a parity violation in hexagonal crystals without inversion center has been investigated. The transition 1s-2s of an electron bound to a donor is shown to be dipole allowed. In a weak magnetic field the spin-flip transitions take place only at a definite sign of a photon circulation. Their intensities is almost independent of the value of the magnetic field.  相似文献

A study is made of the effects of Doppler broadening on pure gain without inversion, which means that neither one-photon nor two-photon inversions are allowed, and non-pure gain without inversion, which means that one-photon inversion does not occur but two-photon inversion is present, in a closed Λ-type three-level system with incoherent pumping. It is shown that when the driving field is resonant but the probe field is not, in a certain range of Doppler width, for the case of the lower degree of frequency up-conversion, generally, pure gain without inversion increases monotonically and non-pure gain without inversion does not monotonically increase or decrease with increasing Doppler width; for the case of the higher degree of frequency up-conversion, pure gain without inversion decreases monotonically but non-pure gain without inversion cannot be produced. In the case of two-photon resonance, in some range of Doppler width, pure gain without inversion does not monotonically increase or decrease while non-pure gain without inversion decreases monotonically with Doppler width increasing. Finally, an experimental scheme for examining our theoretical result is given.  相似文献

A new adiabatic pulse for population inversion and the principles of its design are presented. The pulse shape is characterized by the combination of two constraints. (i) Adiabatic following of the central isochromat of the spectral region of interest occurs with constant, possibly small adiabaticity parameter; thereby, the center isochromat gets most efficiently inverted. (ii) Frequency and amplitude modulations obey the principle of offset-independent adiabaticity; thus, the inversion dynamics of the center isochromat is extended over the desired bandwidth. Selective population inversion can be achieved rather independently of spatial radio frequency field inhomogeneities and with significantly reduced peak RF amplitude in comparison with the well-known sech/tanh adiabatic pulse.  相似文献

On the basis of the sine-Gordon model, we calculated the absorption spectrum for the external pump power in a quasi-one-dimensional spiral structure of easy-plane magnets without the inversion center in the presence of a static magnetic field perpendicular to the magnetic spiral axis. It is shown that these data can be used for determining the material constants of the magnet and diagnostics of spin waves and solitons in its spiral structure. The possibility of using magnetooptical methods to observe local translations of the spiral structure during formation and motion of solitons in it is discussed.  相似文献

Abstract

The condition for the generation of second harmonics in the dipole approximation is that the nonlinear crystal medium lack a center of inversion. Conversely, a center of inversion precludes optical second harmonic generation. It is well known, however, that lattice defects introduced into a crystal may alter the local point symmetry in the medium, and in fact may convert local inversion symmetry to that which corresponds to a noncentrosymmetric point group. It is thus clear that selected defects in nonlinear media may be of interest for studying nonlinear optical processes which depend on the square of the electric field strength. The specific case of second harmonic generation employing spatially ordered FA-centers in alkali halide crystals is considered.  相似文献

针对可调谐半导体激光吸收光谱(TDLAS)连续检测技术中,二次谐波背景信号存在漂移的现象,提出改变激光器中心电流实时提取背景信号,以消除连续检测过程中背景信号的漂移对浓度反演的影响。依据波长调制理论推导了二次谐波背景信号的理论表达式,并分析了实际情况下影响二次谐波背景信号的因素。给出激光器在不同工作温度时电流和输出光强度之间的关系曲线,并分析了改变激光器中心电流实时提取背景信号的可行性。结合背景信号搜索方法设计了基于LabVIEW的背景信号提取流程图。设计以氨气为检测对象的TDLAS实验系统,选取了氨气的吸收谱线以及对应的吸收中心电流。在激光器电流全工作区间内只存在唯一吸收峰的情况下,确定实验中各参数的数值及搜索背景的电流范围。实验结果表明:该方法可实时提取谐波背景信号。结合线性最小二乘法拟合反演可有效地减小检测误差及背景信号对浓度反演精度的影响,提高浓度的检测精度及准确性。在连续检测实验中,反演浓度的标准差由2.688 3降到1.856 1,减小背景信号漂移对检测浓度准确性的影响,提高了连续检测的准确性。  相似文献

Because of the absence of a center of inversion in some superconducting compounds, a p-wave admixture to the dominant d-wave (or s) order parameter must exist. If time reversal is also violated, an allowed invariant is the product of the d wave (or s wave), p wave, and an appropriately directed current. We show that this leads to a new and remarkable property of the Josephson current for tunneling into a s-wave superconductor along the direction parallel to the axis of the p-wave component. These ideas are applied to the heavy-fermion compounds which lack center of inversion due to crystalline symmetry, as well as time-reversal symmetry, such as CePt(3)Si. They also apply to the superconducting state of the cuprates in the pseudogap region of the phase diagram where in the normal phase some experiments have detected a time-reversal and inversion symmetry broken phase.  相似文献

A model for the propagation of coherent pulses along a one-dimensional, resonantly absorbing Bragg grating that includes localized inhomogeneous population inversion at its center is presented. The long-range coupling between the optical field and resonant atoms allows for controllable trapping of a gap soliton by the local inversion, thus opening new opportunities for control of signal transmission and localization of light.  相似文献

研究了在引入非相干抽运的情况下,循环跃迁的Δ型共振三能级系统中产生的无反转激光.利用主方程的方法, 导出了缀饰态中强相干场极限下布居数项和相干项的稳态近似解析解以及产生无反转激光所需要满足的条件;并利用数值模拟的方法讨论了布居数分布、 系统增益对探测场和相干场拉比频率的依赖性以及随时间的演化规律. 结果表明:无论各个参量取何值,共振Δ型三能级系统总是处于无粒子数反转的状态; 只要探测场或相干场之中有一个为强场,便可产生无反转激光; 当其中任意一个场远强于另一个场时,系统的无反转增益将不再依赖于任何一个场的拉比频率.  相似文献

In this paper we study influences of Doppler broadening, spontaneously generated coherence, and other system parameters on propagation effect in a quasi lambda-type four-level atomic system. It is shown that when the Doppler broadening is present, generally speaking, the values of gain and intensity of lasing without inversion (i.e. the probe field) in the co-propagating probe and driving fields case are much larger than those in the counter-propagating case; considerably larger gain and intensity of lasing without inversion than those without the Doppler broadening can be obtained by choosing appropriate values of the Doppler broadening width and spontaneously generated coherence strength. The gain and intensity of lasing without inversion increase with the increase of spontaneously generated coherence strength; when spontaneously generated coherence is present, much larger gain and intensity of lasing without inversion than those in the case without spontaneously generated coherence can be obtained. Choosing suitable values of the probe detuning, Rabi frequencies of the driving and pump fields at the entrance of the medium also can remarkably enhance the gain and intensity of lasing without inversion.  相似文献

The spin-orbit corrections to electronic states in bulk cubic semiconductors without the center of inversion in an ultraquantum magnetic field are investigated. It is shown that the spin-orbit interaction results in a shift of the Landau levels and the appearance of additional terms in the relationship for the electron g factor. The corrections to the g factor lead to a deviation of the macroscopic magnetization from the direction of the magnetic field, the dependence of the spin resonance frequency on the magnetic field orientation with respect to the principal crystallographic axes, and anisotropy of the spin relaxation through the D’yakonov-Perel’ mechanism.  相似文献

Exact selection rules for matrix elements of the generalized momentum operator π at the Γ point in semiconductors of the GaAs-type without an inversion center are deduced for the first time with thorough account of spin-orbit interaction, which manifests itself in both splitting and mixing of orbital states. In particular, selection rules are obtained for forbidden optical transitions Γ7 → Γ8 in the valence band. The selection rules are formulated in terms of Clebsch-Gordan coefficients and reduced matrix elements. The relation between the reduced matrix elements and the mixing parameters of the wave functions is derived.  相似文献

We review lasing in homogeneously broadened coherently driven three-level systems in the framework of semiclassical density matrix formalism and using a nonlinear dynamics point of view. We discuss the following features of these systems: (i) self-pulsing lasing without inversion near the first lasing threshold, (ii) giant pulse lasing based on the population inversion without lasing phenomenon, and (iii) the enlargement of the cavity detuning range where lasing without inversion occurs by using broad-area cavities.  相似文献
