采用多种X射线衍射技术和磁电阻测量技术研究了不同厚度的La0.8Ca0.2MnO3/SrTiO3 (LCMO/STO)薄膜的应变状态及其对磁电阻性能的影响.结果表明,在STO(001)单晶衬底上生长的LCMO薄膜沿[00l]取向生长.LCMO薄膜具有伪立方钙钛矿结构,随着薄膜厚度的增加,面内晶格参数增加,垂直于面内的晶格参数减小,晶格参数ab相近,略小于c.LC 关键词: X射线衍射 微结构 应变 物理性能  相似文献

Films of La0.5Sr0.5CoO3 (LSCO) have been deposited on specially treated TiO2-terminated (001) SrTiO3 substrate surfaces and on macroporous polycrystalline !-Al2O3 substrates, having a mean pore diameter of 80 nm, by pulsed laser deposition. The films deposited on SrTiO3 are good conducting, (001) textured, and exceptionally smooth (1-2 Å for 100 nm thick films). LSCO films deposited on porous !-Al2O3 are polycrystalline and exhibit good crystallographic and electrical properties despite the large substrate roughness and the differences in lattice parameters and crystal structure between the film and the substrate. Different growth modes have been observed on the porous !-Al2O3 substrates depending on the oxygen pressure during film deposition. Films grown at an oxygen pressure of 10-1 mbar are macroporous, whereas films grown at 10-2 mbar completely cover the substrate pores. In the latter case, strain effects lead to film cracking.  相似文献

Thin films of the charge-ordered (CO) compound Pr0.5Ca0.5MnO3 have been grown by utilizing the Pulsed Laser Deposition technique. Films are deposited onto LaAlO3 and SrTiO3 substrates in order to check the effect of strains (compression and tensile). Using various techniques of characterization, we show that the strains of substrate influence the lattice parameters, the orientation of the orthorhombic structure, the transport properties and the stability of the CO state.  相似文献

The effect of epitaxial strain on La0.5Ca0.5MnO3 films of various thicknesses grown on SrTiO3, SrLaAlO4, and SrLaGaO4 substrates is studied by Raman spectroscopy, magnetic, and resistivity measurements. The transport and magnetic properties as well as Raman spectra of the films are affected by epitaxial strains. The energy of the Ag(2) mode and the tilting angle of the MnO6 octahedra is affected by the strain imposed by the substrate. In the spectra of the films deposited on the (1 0 0) SrTiO3 substrate strong Jahn-Teller (JT) modes appear, which couple with charge-ordering. In all other films these modes are suppressed and no additional Raman lines are present at low temperatures contrary to the bulk compound. The low frequency continuum scattering decreases at low temperatures indicating a coupling with both the charge and orbital transitions. Comparison of the Raman spectra with the magneto-transport properties suggests an interpretation in terms of a strain induced phase separation between ferromagnetic metallic and antiferromagnetic insulating states.  相似文献

Spontaneously appearing macroscopic polarization (self‐polarization) in ferroelectrics without an electrode or an external electric field would enable the freedom to design many ferroelectric heterostructures and devices. The (K0.5Na0.5)(Mn0.005Nb0.995)O3 (KNMN) thin film was grown on Nb:SrTiO3 single‐crystal substrate and the resultant self‐polarization behavior due to strain relaxation was investigated. The lattice mismatch and difference in TEC between the KNMN thin film and the Nb:SrTiO3 substrate creates a compressive strain. The compressive strain gradient may be the main cause for the observed downward self‐polarization. The downward self‐polarization of the KNMN thin film can be explained by the strong inhomogeneous compressive strain caused by strain relaxation. (© 2016 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH &Co. Epitaxial Pr0.5Ca0.5MnO3 films have been synthesized on (0 0 1) SrTiO3 substrate using a chemical solution deposition technique and two-step post-annealing process. The zero field resistivity of the films shows semiconducting behavior and a characteristic of charge ordering is observed at 230 K. The resistivity of the 10 nm film did not show any effect with the magnetic field. However, melting of charge ordering was observed for the 120 nm film at an applied magnetic field of 4 T. Large decrease in the resistivity of the 120 nm film (<100 K) resulted in magnetoresistance of nearly −100% at 75 K.  相似文献

The complete (001)-oriented thin films of La0.5Sr0.5CoO3-x (LSCO) are deposited on (001) SrTiO3 substrates by pulsed laser deposition under reduced oxygen pressure. It is revealed that the c axis of the film stretches with depleting oxygen. The magnetic, electrical, and magnetoresistive properties of the films are characterized by means of various techniques. Significant dependence of these properties on oxygen deficiency in the films is demonstrated, with enhanced magnetoresistance recorded for the samples deposited over a wide range of reduced oxygen pressure. The microstructures present in a thin film of La0.7Sr0.3MnO3, grown by computer-controlled laser molecular beam epitaxy on a SrTiO3 (001) substrate, were characterized by means of cross-section and plan-view transmission electron microscopy. Four kinds of rhombohedral-oriented domains and two types of domain boundaries were identified in the film. The crystallographic relationships between each domain and the substrate were established on the basis of a hexagonal unit cell using Miller–Bravais indices. A mechanism for the formation of the oriented domains is proposed from the viewpoint of the evolution of strain relaxation during film preparation.  相似文献

The symmetry of the surfaces of SrTiO3and slightly Nb-doped SrTiO3crystals was investigated by the optical reflected second harmonic generation technique.The good agreement between experimental and theoretical results of the second harmonic intensity dependence on the azimuth angle indicates that the SrTiO3(001)surface is with 4mm symmetry and the Nb-doped SrTiO3(111)surface with 3m symmetry.The measurements of the polarization dependent second harmonic intensity confirm that conclusion.The enhancement of the surface polarization in the structure of SrTiO3capped La0.9Sr0.1MnO3films compared with that in the La0.9Sr0.1MnO3films has been obtained.  相似文献

The structural and magnetic properties of Nd0.5−xPrxSr0.5MnO3 (x=0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 and 0.5) system have been investigated. With the substitution of Pr in Nd0.5Sr0.5MnO3, it shows a gradual structure transformation from the Imma orthorhombic symmetry to the tetragonal I4/mcm phase, and the crystallographic transition remains incomplete, even in Pr0.5Sr0.5MnO3. A large bifurcation between zero-field-cooled (ZFC) and field-cooled (FC) susceptibility has been observed below Curie temperature (TC), which is characteristic of coexistence of ferromagnetism (FM) and antiferromagnetism (AFM) at low temperature region. The magnetization of Pr0.5Sr0.5MnO3 is larger than that of Nd0.5Sr0.5MnO3, while Nd0.5Sr0.5MnO3 with more CE-type AFM shows larger magnetization than Nd0.3Pr0.2Sr0.5MnO3, which mixed with CE-type (majority) and A-type (minority) AFM at low temperature, indicating that the magnetization of Nd0.5−xPrxSr0.5MnO3 system is affected by A-site disorder combined with orbital ordering of A-type AFM and CE-type AFM.  相似文献

We have made in situ optical microscope observation for the microstructure control driven by magnetic field in Fe-31.2Pd (at%), CoO and Nd0.5Sr0.5MnO3. These materials exhibit structural transitions, and their low-temperature phases are composed of several crystallographic domains (variants), which are separated by twinning planes. In the case of ferromagnetic Fe-31.2Pd and antiferromagnetic CoO, the magnetic field promotes the twinning plane movement. This movement gives a large strain of several percent and is essentially explained by the fact that the magnetic shear stress, which corresponds to the magnetic anisotropy energy divided by the twinning shear, is larger than the twinning stress. In the case of Nd0.5Sr0.5MnO3, the twinned microstructure of the charge-ordered phase disappears under a magnetic field in association with the melting of the charge-ordered phase.  相似文献

In this paper we present the growth of La0.5Sr0.5CoO3 (LSCO) films on MgO, quartz, and silicon substrates by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) using a Ti:sapphire laser (50 fs, 800 nm wavelength). The morphology and the structure of the films were studied by X-ray diffraction, atomic force microscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. The films were polycrystalline and exhibit a good adherence to the Si substrate. Different deposition parameters such as substrate temperature, oxygen pressure, and laser fluence were varied to achieve good surface quality and low resistivity crystalline films. We also defined the optimum conditions in which the deposited film surface is particulate free. The best films (droplets free) were grown at 625 °C, in an ambient oxygen pressure of 6 mbar, with an incident laser fluence of 0.19 J/cm2. This is a mandatory step in the complex work of fabricating La0.5Sr0.5CoO3/BaTiO3/La0.5Sr0.5CoO3 heterostructures for the development of thin film capacitors for non-volatile ferroelectric access memory devices. The phenomenon of destabilization of antiferromagnetic insulating state into a ferromagnetic metallic one in Nd0.5Sr0.5MnO3 with the variation of particle/grain size is critically investigated. Based on our neutron diffraction study, magnetic and transport experiments, we observe ferromagnetism and metallic behavior in Nd0.5Sr0.5MnO3 (∼40 nm grain size) as against A-type antiferromagnetic order in the sample with the largest grain size (∼800 nm). The latter shows a systematic change in the lattice parameters with temperature, and an antiferromagnetic ground state similar to that of a bulk system. Interestingly, the sample with the smallest grain sizes exhibits insignificant structural changes (compared to the largest grain size sample) but a complete change in the magnetic state (ferromagnetic behavior) as revealed from the neutron diffraction study. Magnetic measurements also confirm a ferromagnetic state in the small-grained sample. Electronic transport measurements exhibit a metal-insulator transition in this sample. The effects are primarily attributed to enhanced surface disorder.  相似文献

The electrical and magnetic characteristics of La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 (LSMO) epitaxial manganite films are investigated by different methods under conditions when the crystal structure is strongly strained as a result of mismatch between the lattice parameters of the LSMO crystal and the substrate. Substrates with lattice parameters larger and smaller than the nominal lattice parameter of the LSMO crystal are used in experiments. It is shown that the behavior of the temperature dependence of the electrical resistance for the films in the low-temperature range does not depend on the strain of the film and agrees well with the results obtained from the calculations with allowance made for the interaction of electrons with magnetic excitations in the framework of the double-exchange model for systems with strongly correlated electronic states. Investigations of the magneto- optical Kerr effect have revealed that an insignificant (0.3%) orthorhombic distortion of the cubic lattice in the plane of the NdGaO3(110) substrate leads to uniaxial anisotropy of the magnetization of the film, with the easy-magnetization axis lying in the substrate plane. However, LSMO films on substrates (((LaAlO3)0.3+(Sr2AlTaO6)0.7)(001)) ensuring minimum strain of the films exhibit a biaxial anisotropy typical of cubic crystals. The study of the ferromagnetic resonance lines at a frequency of 9.76 GHz confirms the results of magnetooptical investigations and indicates that the ferromagnetic phase in the LSMO films is weakly inhomogeneous.  相似文献

Temperature dependences (77–300 K) of the thermal capacity, diffusion, and conductivity are investigated for the Nd 0.5 Sr 0.5 MnO 3 and Nd 0.55 Sr 0.45 MnO 3 polycrystalline samples. The examined characteristics show anomalous behavior in the magnetic phase transition and transition to the charge-ordered state. It is demonstrated that the main reason for a sharp decrease in the thermal conductivity during Nd 0.5 Sr 0.5 MnO 3 transition into the antiferromagnetic charge-ordered state is a change in the phonon spectrum caused by the lattice compression. A new approach to the study of phase separation in lanthanum manganites is proposed based on the combined investigation of their optical and magnetooptical characteristics providing information about the conducting and ferromagnetic regions, respectively. Effects of the 18O isotope substitution for 16O in the epitaxial films of (La0.5Pr0.5)0.7Ca0.3MnO3 (grown on SrTiO3 or LaAlO3 substrates) upon the IR absorption spectra and the equatorial Kerr effect measured in the 1.5–3.8 eV range were studied. A giant drop in the temperature of maximum resistance of the film grown on SrTiO3 and disappearance of the metal-insulator transition in the film on LaAlO3, observed upon the isotope exchange, are accompanied by a decrease in the contribution of free charge carriers to the absorption spectra, by the appearance of bands due to localized states, and by a decrease in magnitude of the equatorial Kerr effects. Measurements of the Kerr effect and the temperature variation of the optical transmission show evidence of the presence of ferromagnetic metal regions in the 18O-isotope-substituted (La0.5Pr0.5)0.7Ca0.3MnO3/LaAlO3 film at low temperatures, with a general semiconductor character of the resistivity behavior in the entire temperature range studied. Changes observed in the absorption spectra are explained based on a model of the pseudo-Jahn-Teller polar centers and phase separation. The optical and magnetooptical data show evidence of a percolation nature of the giant isotope effect in manganites.  相似文献

We present a detailed structural study of tensile-strained La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 thin films. We use the substrate miscut to control the number of rhombohedral variants in the films and study the in-plane order and structural distortions. Using high-resolution X-ray diffraction, we demonstrate that step-edge induced lattice modulations occur in 4-variant films, whereas periodic twinning is the dominant in-plane order for 2-variant films. We show that the in-plane twinning angle is almost completely relaxed. However, the relaxation of shear strain by the out-of-plane twinning angle and the monoclinic distortion is only partial. Furthermore, the film thickness dependence of the domain width reveals that domain formation is a universal mechanism for shear strain relaxation. Finally, we show that the structural response to the transition from the paramagnetic to the ferromagnetic phase of La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 at 345?K is smaller in 4-variant films compared to 2-variant films.  相似文献
