Self-consistent electronic structure calculations for a magnetic dimer supported on a metal surface are performed on the basis of the microscopic Hamiltonian for itinerant electrons. The possibility of a noncollinear ground state in the absence of spin-orbit interaction and magnetic frustration is shown. The effective exchange interaction of moments is determined by the number of quasi-localized d-electrons per atom and, in general, is not described by the Heisenberg model.  相似文献

The angular distribution of fluorescence emission from dye molecules excited by surface plasmon waves in a silver film is reported. Coupling of the emitted fluorescence to a surface plasmon mode at the Stokes shifted wavelength results in a sharply peaked angular profile in the prism half space. Fresnel theory is used to model experimental results obtained for thick and thin sample dye films and for micron-size particles containing dye.  相似文献

The spin orientation and excitation of the ferromagnetic nanocluster on the magnetic metal surface are studied numerically. We show that localized magnetic excitation modes are generated by the spin fluctuation of the cluster, when the ferromagnetic interaction J′ between the cluster and the metal surface is small and the spins in the cluster are oriented in the opposite direction with those of the metal surface by the external field. This magnetic structure is similar to the domain wall (DW) structure of a ferromagnetic wire, both sides of which connect with metal surfaces. As the interaction J′ increases, the sign of the thermal average of the spins in the cluster changes, i.e., the spin-flip takes place. In this time, the magnetic fluctuation of the cluster becomes large and the magnetic excitation energies, except for that of one excitation mode, overlap with the excitation spectrum of the spin wave. We also show that, by the overlap, sharp peaks and dips occur in the excitation spectrum of the spin wave.  相似文献

119Sn NMR showed that β-tin areas that formed upon freezing at magnetic field 9.4 T on the surface of tin polycrystalline samples have their symmetry axes strongly aligned along a particular direction. The fraction of the oriented frozen tin was found to approach the total amount of the Sn melt on the sample surface.  相似文献

利用半经典开轨道理论, 研究了磁场和金属面附近氢负离子的剥离电子通量分布, 并揭示了电子通量分布中的振荡结构与经典轨道之间的关系.固定离子到金属面的距离, 研究了不同的磁场强度对电子通量分布的影响. 结果表明, 由于与电子通量分布相联系的剥离电子的经典轨迹增加, 随着磁场强度的增加, 通量分布变得复杂. 此外发现剥离电子的能量变化也会影响电子通量分布. 因此可以通过改变磁场强度大小和剥离电子的能量来调控剥离电子通量分布和干涉图样. 研究结果对于理解负离子在外场、表面附近的电子流通量和剥离电子干涉图样问题以及将来实验研究负离子的光剥离显微问题都可以提供一定的参考. 关键词: 开轨道理论 电子通量 金属面 磁场  相似文献

Gravitationally redshifted absorption lines of Fe XXVI, Fe XXV, and O VIII were inferred recently in the x-ray spectrum of the bursting neutron star EXO 0748-676. We place an upper limit on the stellar magnetic field based on the iron lines. The oxygen absorption feature shows a multiple component profile that is consistent with Zeeman splitting in a magnetic field of approximately (1-2) x 10(9) G and for which the corresponding Zeeman components of the iron lines are expected to be blended together. In other systems, a field strength > or approximately 5 x 10(10) G could induce a blueshift of the line centroids that would counteract gravitational redshift and complicate the derivation of constraints on the equation of state of the neutron star.  相似文献

The effect of the gradient correction to the exchange and correlation energies on chemisorption properties is examined using the evaluation of Bχc arrived at by Rasolt and Geldart. Quantities common to the study of hydrogen and alkali chemisorption on a high density metal are calculated for various forms of the energy functional within the linear response approach. It is found that the gradient correction is a quantitatively significant term, lowering binding energies by ≈ 10% and increasing the dipole sizably.  相似文献

The brush cathode helium discharge in the magnetic field has been operated stably at discharge currents larger than those without magnetic field. The diameter of the plasma column has been determined by the configuration of the magnetic field. The measurements of the spectral intensities of the recombination continuum followed by the 23S-n3P series reveals that the electron density is 1·8 × 1013 cm-3 and the electron temperature is 0·17 eV at a discharge current of 500 mA and a pressure of 0·9 torr for a magnetic flux density of 1·3 kG. The principal quantum number for line merging is 20.  相似文献

A method for the calculation of the energies of spin modes of surface magnetic clusters on a magnetic surface, using broken translation symmetry in three dimensions (3D), is employed to determine the spin mode energies for a variety of planar clusters. The cluster is considered to be supported on a magnetically ordered substrate such that the localised spins of the cluster and the substrate interact via magnetic exchange. No electronic effects are considered. The analytical approach solves for the 3D evanescent crystal spin field in the bulk and the surface domains around the cluster. This spin field arises owing to the breakdown of magnetic translation symmetry caused by the surface cluster. The analytical approach can be applied to any cluster configuration, underlying the general character of the calculation. In particular, we consider here a 4-, 5-, and 9-atoms planar clusters supported on the surface of a ferromagnetic simple cubic lattice, the spin order being in the direction normal to surface boundary. The method is applied to calculate the spin mode energies of these planar clusters consisting of Gd atoms interacting via Anti-ferromagnetic exchange with an Fe(1 0 0) surface. These results are compared with the calculated energies of the spin modes of the free clusters, and also with those for the same planar clusters when the cluster-substrate exchange is considered hypothetically ferromagnetic.  相似文献

By using the closed orbit theory, the photodetachment cross section of H^- near a metal surface is derived and calculated. The results show that the metal surface has great influence on the photodetachment process. As the ion-surface distance is very large, the influence of the electrostatic image potential caused by the metal surface becomes small and can be neglected. The period, action, and length of the detached electron's closed orbit are nearly the same as the case of the photodetachment of H^- near an elastic interface. However, with the decrease of the ion-surface distance, the influence of the metal surface becomes significant. The amplitude of the oscillation in the photodetachment cross section becomes complicated. Each resonance peak in the Fourier transformed cross section is associated with one electron's closed orbit. Unlike the case of the photodetachment of H^- near an elastic interface, the length of the closed orbit does not equal the twice distance between the ion and the surface. But with the increase of the ion-surface distance, the length of the closed orbit approaches the case of the closed orbit near an elastic interface, which suggests the correctness of our method. This study provides a new understanding on the photodetachment process of H^- in the presence of a metal surface.  相似文献

The metastable decay of dimer anions of Cu and Ag has been measured in a storage ring. The decay is found to proceed nonexponentially and is well described by a power law with an exponent of -1. This signals the presence of a continuum of decay constants in the ensemble. This quasicontinuum can be provided by the quantum mechanical tunneling decay of high angular momentum states populated in the source. Numerical calculations for dimers of a variety of elements suggest that this decay behavior can be expected for a wide range of species.  相似文献

The effect of a polarized conduction-electron cloud back on a magnetic impurity dissolved in a metal is studied. It is shown that at a temperature T c much higher than the Kondo temperature the system becomes unstable against symmetry breaking and that a state with 〈S z 〉 ≠ 0 is established. The behavior of 〈 S z 〉 is derived for all temperatures and magnetic fields except for a very narrow region around T c and for very low temperatures. Metal nanopowder (Co and Fe)/polymer composites, both with and without surface modification by behenic acid, were fabricated and their dielectric and magnetic properties were measured at 1 GHz to study the effect of surface modification on the electromagnetic properties. The relative permittivity and the real part of the permeability of the composites with surface modified powders were higher than those with unmodified powders. Related dielectric losses remained at almost the same level, but magnetic losses were somewhat increased. The increase of relative permittivity could result from the increased volume fraction of interphase with a slightly higher relative permittivity at the particle/polymer interface than that of the bulk polymer. The increase in the real part of the permeability may be caused by suppression of the induced demagnetizing field due to suppression of eddy currents by a better particle distribution and a decrease in effective agglomerate size because of the surface modification.  相似文献

Using the quantum Monte Carlo method, we study, under external magnetic fields, the ground state phase diagram of the two-dimensional spin S=1/2 dimer model with an anisotropic intraplane antiferromagnetic coupling. With the anisotropy 4 greater/approximately Delta greater/approximately 3, a supersolid phase characterized by a nonuniform Bose condensate density that breaks translational symmetry is found. The rich phase diagram also contains a checkerboard solid, an antiferromagnet in the z axis, and a superfluid phase formed by S(z)= +1 spin triplets which has a finite staggered magnetization in the in-plane direction. As we show, the model can be realized as a consequence of including the next nearest neighbor coupling among dimers and our results suggest that spin dimer systems may be an ideal model system to study the supersolid phase.  相似文献

通过数值模拟及实验研究了润湿性及磁场对液态金属膜流流动状态的影响。首先,通过数值模拟研究了润湿性对膜流流动状态的影响。结果表明,当润湿性不好时,液态金属膜流容易发展为溪状流而不能完全覆盖底壁,入口膜厚较薄时更易发展为溪状流;在入口膜厚及其它情况相同时,密度越小越易发展为溪状流。其次,研究了磁场对膜流流动状态的影响。结果表明,槽道与流体润湿性不好时,有磁场情况下液态金属膜流覆盖底壁的区域较无磁场时增加,强磁场对膜流的湍流有抑制作用。最后,液态金属膜流实验结果表明,润湿性不好时,镓铟锡合金膜流容易收缩发展为溪状流,这与数值模拟的结果是一致的。上述研究结果对磁约束聚变堆液态第一壁的设计具有指导意义。  相似文献
