The physical and electrochemical properties of the activated carbon pellet electrodes have been investigated. Activated carbon pellets were prepared from single step carbonization process of pre-carbonized rubber wood sawdust at a temperature of 800 °C that followed with a CO2 activation process at temperature in the range of 700–1000 °C. The BET characterization on the sample found that the surface area of the carbon pellet increased with the increasing of the activation temperature. The optimum value was as high as 683.63 m2 g−1. The electrical conductivity was also found to increase linearly with the increasing of the activation temperature, namely from 0.0075 S cm−1 to 0.0687 S cm−1 for the activation temperature in the range of 700–1000 °C. The cyclic voltammetry characterization of the samples in aqueous solution of 1 M H2SO4 also found that the specific capacitance increased with the increasing of the activation temperature. Typical optimum value was shown by the sample activated at 900 °C with the specific capacitance was as high as 33.74 F g−1 (scan rate 1 mV s−1). The retained ratio was as high as 32.72%. The activated carbon pellet prepared from the rubber wood sawdust may found used in supercapacitor applications.  相似文献

The adsorption and desorption of the system CO/Pt(111) and C6H6/Pt(111) at 300 K has been investigated with a pulsed molecular beam method in combination with a microcalorimeter. For benzene the sticking probability has been measured in dependence of the coverage θ. For coverages θ > 0.8 transient adsorption is observed. From an analysis of the time-dependence of the molecular beam pulses the rate constant for desorption is determined to be 5.6 s? 1. With a precursor-mediated kinetic adsorption model this allows to obtain also the hopping rate constant of 95.5 s? 1. The measured adsorption enthalpies could be best described by (199 ? 77θ ? 51θ2) kJ/mol, in good agreement with the literature values. For CO on Pt(111) also transient adsorption has been observed for θ > 0.95 at 300 K. The kinetic analysis yields rate constants for desorption and hopping of 20 s?1 and 51 s?1, respectively. The heats of adsorption show a linear dependence on coverage (131 ? 38θ) kJ/mol between 0  θ  0.3, which is consistent with the desorption data from the literature. For higher coverage (up to θ = 0.9ML) a slope of ?63 kJ/mol describes the decrease of the differential heat of adsorption best. This result is only compatible with desorption experiments, if the pre-exponential factor decreases strongly at higher coverage. We found good agreement with recent quantum chemical calculations made for (θ = 0.5ML).  相似文献

The adsorption of CO on α-Al2O3(0001) was studied using the DFT-GGA computational method and on α-Al2O3 powder experimentally by Infra red spectroscopy. The core and valence level regions of α-Al2O3(0001) single crystal surface were also studied experimentally. Ar ions sputtering of the surface results in a slight but reproducible decrease in the XPS O2p lines in the valence band regions due to preferential removal of surface (and near surface) O atoms. Core level XPS O1s and Al2p further confirmed oxygen depletion with an associated surface stoichiometry close to Al2O2.9. The adsorption energy of CO was computed and found equal to 0.52 eV for θ = 0.25, it decreased to 0.42 eV at θ = 1. The IR frequency of νCO was also computed and in all cases it was blue shifted with respect to gas phase CO. The shift, Δν, decreased with increasing coverage where it was found equal to 56 cm? 1 for θ = 0.25 and decreased to 30 cm? 1 for θ = 1. Structural analyses indicated that the change in the adsorption energy and the associated frequency shift is due to surface relaxation upon adsorption. Experimentally the adsorption of CO gave rise to one main IR peak at 2154 cm? 1 at 0.3 Torr and above. Two far smaller peaks are also seen at lower pressures of 0.03–0.2 Torr at 2189 and 2178 cm? 1. The isosteric heat of adsorption was computed for the IR band at 2154 cm? 1 and was found equal to 0.2 eV which did not change with coverage in the investigated range up to θ = 0.6.  相似文献

In this work, ultrasound-assisted adsorption of an anionic dye, sunset yellow (SY) and cationic dyes, malachite green (MG), methylene blue (MB) and their ternary dye solutions onto Cu@ Mn-ZnS-NPs-AC from water aqueous was optimized by response surface methodology (RSM) using the central composite design (CCD). The adsorbent was characterized using Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and EDX mapping images. The effects of various parameters such as pH, sonication time, adsorbent mass and initial concentrations of SY, MG and MB were examined. A total 33 experiments were conducted to establish a quadratic model. Cu@ Mn-ZnS-NPs-AC has the maximum adsorption efficiency (>99.5%) when the pH, sonication time, adsorbent mass and initial concentrations of SY, MG and MB were optimally set as 6.0, 5 min, 0.02 g, 9, 12 and 12 mg L−1, respectively. Sonication time has a statistically significant effect on the selected responses. Langmuir isotherm model was found to be best fitted to adsorption and adsorption capacities were 67.5 mg g−1 for SY, 74.6 mg g−1 for MG and 72.9 mg g−1 for MB. Four kinetic models (pseudo-first order, pseudo-second order, Weber–Morris intraparticle diffusion rate and Elovich) were tested to correlate the experimental data and the sorption was fitted well with the pseudo-second order kinetic model.  相似文献

Using the single-crystal adsorption calorimeter (SCAC), coverage-dependent heats of adsorption and sticking probabilities are reported for O2 and NO on Pt{1 1 1}, Pt{2 1 1} and Pt{4 1 1} at 300 K. At low coverage, oxygen adsorption is dissociative for all Pt surfaces. The highest initial heat of adsorption is found on Pt{2 1 1}, with a value of 370 kJ/mol, followed by those on Pt{4 1 1} (310 kJ/mol) and Pt{1 1 1} (300 kJ/mol). We attribute this relatively large difference in the dissociative heat of adsorption at low coverage to the step character of the {2 1 1} surface. Initial sticking probabilities, so, are similar for the three surfaces, 0.22 on Pt{1 1 1}, 0.17 on Pt{2 1 1} and 0.18 on Pt{4 1 1}, rapidly decreasing as the oxygen coverage increases. For nitric oxide, the initial heats of adsorption are very similar and consistent with either dissociative or molecular adsorption, with values of 182 kJ/mol on Pt{1 1 1}, 192 kJ/mol on Pt{2 1 1} and 217 kJ/mol on Pt{4 1 1}. The so value is virtually identical for all three systems, with values ranging from 0.82 to 0.85, suggesting that the initial sticking probability is insensitive to the surface structure and adsorption is intrinsically precursor mediated. SCAC data are also used to evaluate pre-exponential factors, ν, for first-order desorption at high coverage where adsorption is non-dissociative. Values of 3 × 1018, 6 × 1018 and 2 × 1018 s?1 for O2, and 4 × 1019, 6 × 1017 and 2 × 1020 s?1 for NO on Pt{1 1 1}, Pt{2 1 1} and Pt{4 1 1}, respectively, are found. These unexpectedly high values are rationalised in terms of conventional transition state theory entropy changes.  相似文献

In this study dependency of simultaneous adsorption of Congo Red (CR), Phloxine B (BP) and Fast green FCF (FG) onto CuS/ZnS nanocomposites loaded on activated carbon (CuS/ZnS-NCs-AC) to pH, adsorbent mass, sonication time and initial dyes concentration were modeled and optimized, while CuS/ZnS-NCs-AC was identified by XRD, FESEM and EDS analysis. CR, PB and FG concentration determination were undertaken by first and second order derivative spectrophotometry in ternary mixture. According to central composite design (CCD) based on desirability function (DF), the best experimental conditions was set as pH 6.0, 0.02 g CuS/ZnS-NCs-AC, 5 min sonication time, 15 mg L−1 for PB and 10 mg L−1 for other dyes. Conduction of experiments to above conditions lead to highest dyes removal efficiency of 99.72, 98.8 and 98.17 for CR, PB and FG, respectively. The adsorption data efficiently fitted by Langmuir isotherm model, while the order of maximum adsorption capacity (Qmax) for PB (128.21 mg g−1) > CR (88.57 mg g−1) > FG (73.40 mg g−1) is related to their different structure and charges. Kinetics of process was efficiently explained according to pseudo-second-order kinetic in cooperation of Weber and Morris based on intraparticle diffusion.  相似文献

Magnetic γ-Fe2O3 nanoparticles modificated by bis(5-bromosalicylidene)-1,3-propandiamine (M-γ-Fe2O3-NPs-BBSPN) and characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). This modified compound as novel adsorbent was applied for the ultrasound-assisted removal of Pb2+ ion in combination with flame atomic absorption spectroscopy (FAAS). The influences of the effective parameters including initial Pb2+ ion concentration, pH, adsorbent mass and ultrasound time were optimized by central composite design (CCD). Maximum removal percentage of Pb2+ ion which obtained at 25 mg L1 of Pb2+, 25 mg of adsorbent and 4 min mixing with sonication at pH 6.0. The precision of the equation obtained by CCD was confirmed by the analysis of variance and calculation of correlation coefficient relating the predicted and the experimental values of removal percentage of Pb2+ ion. The kinetic and isotherm of ultrasound-assisted removal of Pb2+ ion was well described by second-order kinetic and Langmuir isotherm model with maximum adsorption capacity of 163.57 mg g1.  相似文献

A method based on application of ZnO nanorods loaded on activated carbon (ZnO-NRs-AC) for adsorption of Bromocresol Green (BCG) and Eosin Y (EY) accelerated by ultrasound was described. The present material was synthesized under ultrasound assisted wet-chemical method and subsequently was characterized by FE-SEM, TEM, BET and XRD analysis. The extent of contribution of conventional variables like pH (2.0–10.0), BCG concentration (4–20 mg L−1), EY concentration (3–23 mg L−1), adsorbent dosage (0.01–0.03 g), sonication time (1–5 min) and centrifuge time (2–6 min) as main and interaction part were investigated by central composite design under response surface methodology. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was adapted to experimental data and guide the best operational conditions mass by set at 6.0, 9 mg L−1, 10 mg L−1, 0.02 g, 4 and 4 min for pH, BCG concentration, EY concentration, adsorbent dosage, sonication and centrifuge time, respectively. At these specified conditions dye adsorption efficiency was higher than 99.5%. The suitability and well prediction of optimum point was tested by conducting five experiments and respective results revel that RSD% was lower than 3% and high quality of fitting was confirmed by t-test. The experimental data were best fitted in Langmuir isotherm equation and the removal followed pseudo second order kinetics. The experimentally obtained maximum adsorption capacities were estimated as 57.80 and 61.73 mg g−1 of ZnO-NRs-AC for BCG and EY respectively from binary dye solutions. The mechanism of removal was explained by boundary layer diffusion via intraparticle diffusion.  相似文献

Present study is devoted on the efficient application of Sn (O, S)-NPs -AC for simultaneous sonicated accelerated adsorption of some dyes from single and multi-components systems. Sn (O, S) nanoparticles characterization by FESEM, EDX, EDX mapping and XRD revel its nano size structure with high purity of good crystallinity. Present adsorbent due to its nano spherical shape particles with approximate diameter of 40–60 nm seems to be highly effective in this regard. The effects of five variables viz. pH (3.5–9.5), 0.010–0.028 g of adsorbent and 0.5–6.5 min mixing by sonication is good and practical conditions for well and expected adsorption of MB and CV over concentration range of 3–15 mg L−1. Combination of response surface methodology (RSM) based on central composite design (CCD) and subsequent of analysis of variance (ANOVA) and t-test statistics were used to test the significance of the independent variables and their interactions. Regression analysis reveal that experimental data with high repeatability and efficiency well represented by second-order polynomial model with coefficient of determination value of 0.9988 and 0.9976 for MB and CV, respectively following conditions like pH 8.0, 0.016 g adsorbent, 15 mg L−1 of both dyes 4 min sonication time is proportional with achievement of experimental removal percentage of 99.80% of MB and 99.87% of CV in batch experiment. Evaluation and estimation of adsorption data with Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm well justify the results based on their correlation coefficient and error analysis confirm that Langmuir model is good model with adsorption capacity of 109.17 and 115.34 mg g−1 in single system and 95.69 and 102.99 mg g−1 in binary system for MB and CV, respectively. MB and CV kinetic and rate of adsorption well fitted by pseudo-second order equation both in single and binary systems and experimental results denote more and favorable adsorption of CV than respective value in single system. The pseudo-second-order rate constant k2 in binary system larger than single system.  相似文献

Here we explore the exceptional structural characteristics of a set of graphene-related materials prepared by a wet chemical approach. We present a comprehensive study of the effects of morphology, sonication, temperature, probe species, and stacking behaviour on the measurement of graphene surface area. Nitrogen gas was used in the solid state gas adsorption measurements and methylene blue dye for adsorption measurements on aqueous dispersions of graphene. The surface area values obtained are among the highest reported for synthetic graphenes: 1700 m2 g? 1 in aqueous dispersions and 612 m2 g? 1 in the solid state. Microscopy revealed the graphene used in the study was present in large part as free sheets and electron diffraction confirmed the successful synthesis of high quality graphene with a regular C–C bond length of 1.41 ± 0.02 Å.  相似文献

In present work, a graphene oxide chemically modified with 2,2′-dipyridylamine (GO-DPA), was synthesized by simple, fast and low-cost process for the simultaneous adsorption of four toxic heavy metals, Pb(II), Cd(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II), from aqueous solutions. The synthesized adsorbent was characterized by FT-IR, XRD, XPS, SEM and AFM measurements. The effects of variables such as pH solution, initial ion concentrations, adsorbent dosage and sonicating time were investigated on adsorption efficiency by rotatable central composite design. The optimum conditions, specified as 8 mg of adsorbent, 20 mg L−1 of each ion at pH 5 and short time of 4 min led to the achievement of a high adsorption capacities. Ultrasonic power had important role in shortening the adsorption time of ions by enhancing the dispersion of adsorbent in solution. The adsorption kinetic studies and equilibrium isotherms for evaluating the mechanism of adsorption process showed a good fit to the pseudo-second order and Langmuir model, respectively. The maximum adsorption capacities (Qm) of this adsorbent were 369.749, 257.201, 180.893 and 358.824 mg g−1 for lead, cadmium, nickel and copper ions, respectively. The removal performance of adsorbent on the real wastewater samples also showed the feasibility of adsorbent for applying in industrial purposes.  相似文献

The applicability of ZnS:Ni nanoparticles loaded on activated carbon derived from apple tree wood (ZnS:Ni-NPs-ACATW) for the adsorption of Methylene Blue (MB) and Janus Green B (JGB) dyes in single system from water solution has been described. The synthesized adsorbent characterized and identified by UV–Vis, FE-SEM, EDX, TEM, FTIR and XRD. The influences of operation parameters including initial MB or JGB concentration (9.0–33.0 mg L−1), pH (4.0–10.0), extent of adsorbent (0.08–0.12 g) and sonication time (4.0–8.0 min) investigated and subsequently best operational condition optimized by central composite design (CCD) combined with response surface methodology (RSM) and desirability function (DF) using STATISTICA 10.0 software. At optimum conditions, maximum MB and JSB adsorption onto ZnS:Ni-NPs-ACATW, i.e. 99.57% ± 1.34 and 98.70% ± 2.01, respectively was achieved pH of 7.0, 0.11 g adsorbent, 14 and 28 mg L−1 of MB and JSB concentration respectively and 8 min sonication time. Experimental data were modelled by Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin and Dubinin-Radushkevich (D-R) isotherms. Langmuir isotherm and monolayer adsorption capacity of MB and JSB was found to be 21.79 and 28.01 mg g−1 respectively. The regression results strongly support more contribution of pseudo-second-order model for more accurate and repeatable representation of kinetic data. These results reveal that ZnS:Ni-NPs-ACATW could be useful as agents to efficiently remove dyes (JGB and MB) from contaminated water and can be very well recommended for wastewater remediation and control of environmental pollution.  相似文献

Maritime pine sawdust, a by-product from industry of wood transformation, has been investigated as a potential source of polyphenols which were extracted by ultrasound-assisted maceration (UAM). UAM was optimized for enhancing extraction efficiency of polyphenols and reducing time-consuming. In a first time, a preliminary study was carried out to optimize the solid/liquid ratio (6 g of dry material per mL) and the particle size (0.26 cm2) by conventional maceration (CVM). Under these conditions, the optimum conditions for polyphenols extraction by UAM, obtained by response surface methodology, were 0.67 W/cm2 for the ultrasonic intensity (UI), 40 °C for the processing temperature (T) and 43 min for the sonication time (t). UAM was compared with CVM, the results showed that the quantity of polyphenols was improved by 40% (342.4 and 233.5 mg of catechin equivalent per 100 g of dry basis, respectively for UAM and CVM). A multistage cross-current extraction procedure allowed evaluating the real impact of UAM on the solid–liquid extraction enhancement. The potential industrialization of this procedure was implemented through a transition from a lab sonicated reactor (3 L) to a large scale one with 30 L volume.  相似文献

Copper oxide nanoparticles loaded on activated carbon (CuO-NPs-AC) were prepared and fully analyzed and characterized with FE-SEM, XRD and FT-IR. Subsequently, this novel material was used for simultaneous ultrasound-assisted adsorption of brilliant green (BG), auramine O (AO), methylene blue (MB) and eosin yellow (EY) dyes. Problems regard to dyes spectra overlap in quaternary solution of this dyes were omitted by derivative spectrophotometric method. The best pH in quaternary system was studied by using one at a time method to achieved maximum dyes removal percentage. Subsequently, sonication time, adsorbent dosage and initial dyes concentrations influence on dyes removal was optimized by central composite design (CCD) combined with desirability function approach (DFA). Desirability score of 0.978 show optimum conditions set at sonication time (4.2 min), adsorbent mass (0.029 g), initial dyes concentration (4.5 mg L−1). Under this optimum condition the removal percentage for MB, AO, EY and BG dyes 97.58, 94.66, 96.22 and 94.93, respectively. The adsorption rate well fitted by pseudo second-order while adsorption capacity according to the Langmuir model as best equilibrium isotherm model for BG, MB, AO and EY was 20.48, 21.26, 22.34 and 21.29 mg g−1, respectively.  相似文献

The coverage-dependent heats of adsorption and sticking probabilities in the interaction of nitric oxide with clean and oxygen pre-covered Ni{2 1 1} surfaces have been measured at 300 K using single crystal adsorption calorimetry. The results are consistent with a switch from dissociative to molecular chemisorption at 1 ML of O plus N adatoms. Initial dissociative adsorption is attributed to step sites with a heat of 400 kJ mol−1. When steps are saturated with adatoms, adsorption proceeds molecularly with a heat of 160 kJ mol−1. With 0.24 ML oxygen adatom pre-coverage, the initial heat is only 250 kJ mol−1 and with 0.6 ML oxygen adatom, NO adsorption is only molecular with an initial heat of 160 kJ mol−1. The NO sticking probability behaviour is consistent with this picture, with successive precursor mediated adsorption at step and terrace sites. The inhibition of dissociation above O, or O plus N, adatom coverages of 1 ML is attributed to the strong lateral repulsive interactions between adatoms, which would drive the dissociative heat of adsorption below that of molecular adsorption at higher coverages.  相似文献

The present study was focused on the removal of methylene blue (MB) from aqueous solution by ultrasound-assisted adsorption onto the gold nanoparticles loaded on activated carbon (Au-NP-AC). This nanomaterial was characterized using different techniques such as SEM, XRD, and BET. The effects of variables such as pH, initial dye concentration, adsorbent dosage (g), temperature and sonication time (min) on MB removal were studied and using central composite design (CCD) and the optimum experimental conditions were found with desirability function (DF) combined response surface methodology (RSM). Fitting the experimental equilibrium data to various isotherm models such as Langmuir, Freundlich, Tempkin and Dubinin–Radushkevich models show the suitability and applicability of the Langmuir model. Analysis of experimental adsorption data to various kinetic models such as pseudo-first and second order, Elovich and intraparticle diffusion models show the applicability of the second-order equation model. The small amount of proposed adsorbent (0.01 g) is applicable for successful removal of MB (RE > 95%) in short time (1.6 min) with high adsorption capacity (104–185 mg g−1).  相似文献

γ-Fe2O3 nanoparticles were synthesized and loaded on activated carbon. The prepared nanomaterial was characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The γ-Fe2O3 nanoparticle-loaded activated carbon (γ-Fe2O3-NPs-AC) was used as novel adsorbent for the ultrasonic-assisted removal of methylene blue (MB) and malachite green (MG). Response surface methodology and artificial neural network were applied to model and optimize the adsorption of the MB and MG in their individual and binary solutions followed by the investigation on adsorption isotherm and kinetics. The individual effects of parameters such as pH, mass of adsorbent, ultrasonication time as well as MB and MG concentrations in addition to the effects of their possible interactions on the adsorption process were investigated. The numerical optimization revealed that the optimum adsorption (>99.5% for each dye) is obtained at 0.02 g, 15 mg L−1, 4 min and 7.0 corresponding to the adsorbent mass, each dye concentration, sonication time and pH, respectively. The Freundlich, Langmuir, Temkin and Dubinin–Radushkevich isotherms were studied. The Langmuir was found to be most applicable isotherm which predicted maximum monolayer adsorption capacities of 195.55 and 207.04 mg g−1 for the adsorption of MB and MG, respectively. The pseudo-second order model was found to be applicable for the adsorption kinetics. Blank experiments (without any adsorbent) were run to investigate the possible degradation of the dyes studied in presence of ultrasonication. No dyes degradation was observed.  相似文献

Zn1−xCrxTe (x = 0.05, 0.15) films were grown on GaAs(1 0 0) substrate by thermal evaporation method. X-ray diffraction analysis showed the presence of ZnCrTe phase without any secondary phase. The surface was analyzed by high resolution magnetic force microscope and profile measurements showed orientation of magnetic domains in the range of 0.5–2 nm with increase of Cr content. Magnetic moment–magnetic field measurements showed a characteristic hysteresis loop even at room temperature. The Curie temperature was estimated to be greater than 300 K. From the electron spin resonance spectra, the valence state of Cr in ZnTe was found to be +2 with d2 electronic configuration. Hall effect study was done at room temperature and the result showed the presence of p-type charge carriers and hole concentration was found to increase from 5.95 × 1012 to 6.7 × 1012 m−3 when Cr content increases. We deduce the origin of ferromagnetic behavior based on the observed experimental results.  相似文献

We present a detailed analysis of the electronic and geometric bonding properties of the model alkene ethene on different mono- and bimetallic surfaces to establish the difference between adsorption energy and interaction energy and to elucidate the chemical character of a single platinum atom in different chemical environments. The adsorption of ethene on Pt(1 1 1) at 100 K leads to two adsorption states, which are commonly described as being of di-σ-type (bidentate, μ2η2) and π-type (monodentate, μ1η2). While the later is the minority species on Pt(1 1 1) it is of larger abundance on the platinum alloys. We have chosen π-bonded ethene for our study since it can be found on Pt(1 1 1), the Pt3Sn and Pt2Sn surface alloys, and Cu3Pt(1 1 1). Density functional theory calculations of the adsorption structures, site and decomposed densities of states, as well as partial charge densities in conjunction with vibrational spectroscopy show that the bonding, i.e. the interaction energy, of the π ethene is only weakly influenced by alloying. Even in a copper matrix – as in the case of Cu3Pt(1 1 1) – the bonding platinum atom essentially keeps its chemical identity and the interaction energy is reduced by only 14% compared to Pt(1 1 1). This observation suggests that bonding on surfaces is a strongly localized phenomenon. However, the adsorption energy decreases significantly due to alloying, which is attributed to the varying local relaxation of the different metal surfaces.  相似文献

The adsorption of carbon monoxide on Pt(111) was studied using polarization modulation infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy (PM-IRAS) and sum frequency generation (SFG) spectroscopy. Two CO on-top signals at 2110 cm? 1 and 2097 cm? 1 have been detected under continuous CO exposure in a pressure range from 10? 7 to 100 mbar and at temperatures between 200 K and 300 K. The formation of the higher wavenumber signal is found to be kinetically limited below 200 K and by the presence of a stable c(4 × 2) adlayer in UHV. On the basis of the results presented in this study and previous experimental findings the two on-top signals are related to different CO compression layers on Pt(111) with θ > 0.5, hexagonal Moiré lattices and rectangular coincident site lattices.  相似文献
