Acute rejection in organ transplant is signaled by the proliferation of T-cells that target and kill the donor cells requiring painful biopsies to detect rejection onset. An alternative non-invasive technique is proposed using a multi-channel superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) magnetometer to detect T-cell lymphocytes in the transplanted organ labeled with magnetic nanoparticles conjugated to antibodies specifically attached to lymphocytic ligand receptors. After a magnetic field pulse, the T-cells produce a decaying magnetic signal with a characteristic time of the order of a second. The extreme sensitivity of this technique, 10(5) cells, can provide early warning of impending transplant rejection and monitor immune-suppressive chemotherapy.  相似文献

Films of magnetic nanoparticles uniformly mixed with non-magnetic nanoparticles have been produced by ultrashort pulsed laser deposition. These films present innovative characteristics with respect to their counterparts produced by standard techniques, as for example nanosecond laser ablation or sputtering, due to the peculiar shape and preferential distribution of their constituent nanoparticles. In the present investigation, the difficult coalescence among the deposited nanoparticles, specific characteristic of the ultrashort pulsed laser deposition, is particularly stressed for what concerns its effect on the collective magnetic behaviour. In particular, we observed that, even for a significant fraction of magnetic particles, the films exhibit an unusual high remanent magnetization, together with relatively low values of saturation and coercive fields, showing a strong squareness of the hysteresis loops. In perspective, these nanogranular films appear very promising for potential application as permanent magnets and in magnetic recording.  相似文献

Magnetic nanoparticles are good candidates used for the targeted delivery of anti-tumor agents. They can be concentrated on a desired region, reducing collateral effects and improving the efficiency of the chemotherapy. We propose a method in which permanent magnets are implanted by laparoscopic technique directly in the affected organ. This method proposes the use of Fe@C nanoparticles, which are loaded with doxorubicin and injected intravenously. The particles, once attracted to the magnet, release the drug at the tumor region. This method seems to be more promising and effective than that based on the application of external magnetic fields.  相似文献

Superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs) have been widely utilized in biomedical applications due to their extremely high sensitivity to magnetic signals. The present study explores the feasibility of a new type of nanotechnology-based imaging method using standard clinical magnetoencephalographic (MEG) systems equipped with SQUID sensors. Previous studies have shown that biological targets labeled with non-toxic, magnetized nanoparticles can be imaged by measuring the magnetic field generated by these particles. In this work, we demonstrate that (1) the magnetic signals from certain nanoparticles can be detected without magnetization using standard clinical MEG, (2) for some types of nanoparticles, only bound particles produce detectable signals, and (3) the magnetic field of particles several hours after magnetization is significantly stronger than that of un-magnetized particles. These findings hold promise in facilitating the potential application of magnetic nanoparticles to in vivo tumor imaging. The minimum amount of nanoparticles that produce detectable signals is predicted by theoretical modeling and computer simulation.  相似文献

We analyze here the equilibrium magnetization state of densely packed interacting superparamagnetic nanoparticles assembled in clusters of various sizes and dimensionalities by comparison with the non-interacting case. We demonstrate that the average magnetization of individual particles is strongly increased in linear chains aligned parallel with the external magnetic field. Two-dimensional (2D) distributions of superparamagnetic nanoparticles present weaker increases of their average magnetization with respect to the non-interacting approximation whereas volume distributions (3D) are almost equivalent with the non-interacting case. A large number of nanoparticles densely packed in 2D superparamagnetic clusters present almost the same magnetic moment as infinite superparamagnetic chains. The effect of mutual interactions on the total magnetic moment of 3D surfaces (spheroids with various aspect ratios) uniformly covered with densely packed monolayers of superparamagnetic nanoparticles is also investigated.  相似文献

The effect of molar ratio of two hydrated iron salts used as precursors into a (co)precipitation-based synthesis method, on the composition, size and specific saturation magnetization of mixed iron oxides and oxyhydroxides magnetic nanoparticles as reaction products, was studied. The preparation procedure is based on a salt-assisted solid-state chemical reaction. The obtained products are magnetic multiphase components with the mean size ranging from 3 to 10 nm and specific saturation magnetization between 25 and 95.5 emu/g. The specific saturation magnetization modifies in a non-linear manner as the molar ratio of the iron salts varies. Excepting one sample, for which Fe2+/Fe3+ molar ratio was zero, all magnetic nanoparticles show a ferrofluid-like behaviour in the colloidal form. The small size, ferrofluid-like behaviour, and controlled specific saturation magnetization allow the use of new synthesized nanoparticles in specific biomedical or industrial applications.  相似文献

Water suspension of nanoparticles was studied by ultrasound spectroscopy. Nanoparticles have a core-shell structure with magnetic core Fe3O4 and surfactant shells. The surface of magnetic particles was coated with oleate sodium as the primary layer and polyethylene glycol as the secondary layer. The acoustic properties of suspensions, such as velocity and attenuation of ultrasonic waves, have been measured. From experimental data mechanical properties have been determined. Adiabatic compressibility of nanoparticles suspension decreased with increase of temperature. The changes of ultrasonic wave attenuation under the influence of the external magnetic field, show that magnetic liquids with high concentration of magnetic material (despite two surfactant shells) show tendency to aggregate.  相似文献

Magnetic elastomers have been widely pursued for sensing and actuation applications. Silicone-based magnetic elastomers have a number of advantages over other materials such as hydrogels, but aggregation of magnetic nanoparticles within silicones is difficult to prevent. Aggregation inherently limits the minimum size of fabricated structures and leads to non-uniform response from structure to structure. We have developed a novel material that is a complex of a silicone polymer (polydimethylsiloxane-co-aminopropylmethylsiloxane) adsorbed onto the surface of magnetite (γ-Fe2O3) nanoparticles 7-10 nm in diameter. The material is homogenous at very small length scales (<100 nm) and can be crosslinked to form a flexible magnetic material, which is ideally suited for the fabrication of micro- to nanoscale magnetic actuators. The loading fraction of magnetic nanoparticles in the composite can be varied smoothly from 0 to 50 wt% without loss of homogeneity, providing a simple mechanism for tuning actuator response. We evaluate the material properties of the composite across a range of nanoparticle loading, and demonstrate a magnetic-field-induced increase in compressive modulus as high as 300%. Furthermore, we implement a strategy for predicting the optimal nanoparticle loading for magnetic actuation applications, and show that our predictions correlate well with experimental findings.  相似文献

Magnetic nanoparticles were prepared by thermal decomposition and adsorbed with lecithin by applying ultrasonication. The size and saturation magnetization changes of magnetic nanoparticles were observed with different lecithin concentration, and the maximum tolerated dose (MTD) and toxicity of magnetic fluid was investigated through a biological test. As the added lecithin concentration increased in a weight loss test by heating of magnetic particles, the thickness of lecithin-adsorption layer increased non-linearly, and the proper adsorption amount was observed in the lecithin concentration of 20% (w/v). The dispersibility and magnetic property of lecithin-adsorbed magnetic nanoparticles was the most excellent when the ultrasonic holding time was 1.5 h. Also, the maximum tolerated concentration with best cell viability was 32 μg/ml by in vitro test, and lecithin-adsorbed magnetic fluids showed the improved biocompatibility by 1.2 times compared with pure magnetite magnetic fluids.  相似文献

Well-defined nanostructures were written with quantum dots and magnetic nanoparticles on gold and mica surfaces using dip-pen nanolithography at room temperature. The structures with both the nanoparticles were characterised by in situ topography measurements, and the quantum dot structures were mapped by fluorescence mapping. It is demonstrated that structures of various kinds such as dots and lines can be prepared using such nanoparticles on suitably prepared surfaces.  相似文献

In vitro cytocompatibility and cellular interactions of lauric acid and dextran-coated magnetite nanoparticles were evaluated with two different cell lines (mouse fibroblast and human cervical carcinoma). Lauric acid-coated magnetite nanoparticles were less cytocompatible than dextran-coated magnetite nanoparticles and cellular uptake of lauric acid-coated magnetic nanoparticles was more than that of dextran-coated magnetite nanoparticles. Lesser cytocompatibility and higher uptake of lauric acid-coated magnetite nanoparticles as compared to dextran-coated magnetic nanoparticles may be due to different cellular interactions by coating material. Thus, coating plays an important role in modulation of biocompatibility and cellular interaction of magnetic nanoparticles.  相似文献

In magnetic nanoparticles the uniform precession (q = 0 spin wave) mode gives the predominant contribution to the magnetic excitations. We have calculated the energy of the uniform mode in antiferromagnetic nanoparticles with uncompensated magnetic moments, using the coherent potential approximation. In the presence of uncompensated moments, an antiferromagnetic nanoparticle must be considered as a kind of a ferrimagnet. Two magnetic anisotropy terms are considered, a planar term confining the spins to the basal plane, and an axial term determining an easy axis in this plane. Excitation energies are calculated for various combinations of these two anisotropy terms, ranging from the simple uniaxial case to the planar case with a strong out-of-plane anisotropy. In the simple uniaxial case, the uncompensated moment has a large influence on the excitation energy, but in the planar case it is much less important. The calculations explain recent neutron scattering measurements on nanoparticles of antiferromagnetic α-Fe2O3 and NiO.  相似文献

Ferrofluids are widely used in pharmaceutical industries as magnetic separation tools, anti-cancer drug carriers and micro-valve applications. The purpose of the current study is to investigate the effect of a magnetic field on the volume concentration of magnetic nanoparticles of a non-Newtonian biofluid (blood) as a drug carrier. The effect of particles on the flow field is considered. The governing non-linear differential equations, concentration and Naviar-stokes are coupled with the magnetic field. To solve these equations, a finite volume based code is developed and utilized. The results show accumulation of magnetic nanoparticles near the magnetic source until it looks like a solid object. The accumulation of nanoparticles is due to the magnetic force that overcomes the fluid drag force. As the magnetic strength and size of the magnetic particles increase, the accumulation of nanoparticles increases, as well. The magnetic susceptibility of particles also affects the flow field and the contour of the concentration considerably.  相似文献

The chitosan-coated magnetic nanoparticles (CS MNPs) were in situ synthesized by cross-linking method. In this method; during the adsorption of cationic chitosan molecules onto the surface of anionic magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) with electrostatic interactions, tripolyphosphate (TPP) is added for ionic cross-linking of the chitosan molecules with each other. The characterization of synthesized nanoparticles was performed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS/ESCA), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), dynamic light scattering (DLS), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), and vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM) analyses. The XRD and XPS analyses proved that the synthesized iron oxide was magnetite (Fe3O4). The layer of chitosan on the magnetite surface was confirmed by FTIR. TEM results demonstrated a spherical morphology. In the synthesis, at higher NH4OH concentrations, smaller sized nanoparticles were obtained. The average diameters were generally between 2 and 8?nm for CS MNPs in TEM and between 58 and 103?nm in DLS. The average diameters of bare MNPs were found as around 18?nm both in TEM and DLS. TGA results indicated that the chitosan content of CS MNPs were between 15 and 23?% by weight. Bare and CS MNPs were superparamagnetic. These nanoparticles were found non-cytotoxic on cancer cell lines (SiHa, HeLa). The synthesized MNPs have many potential applications in biomedicine including targeted drug delivery, magnetic resonance imaging?(MRI), and magnetic hyperthermia.  相似文献

It is reported the synthesis of magnetic nanoparticles via the chemical co-precipitation of Fe 3+ ions and their preparation by coating them with polyaniline. The electronic micrograph analysis showed that the mean diameter for the nanoparticles is ~15 nm. FTIR, powder X-ray diffraction and Mössbauer spectroscopy were used to understand the chemical, crystallographic and 57Fe hyperfine structures for the two samples. The nanoparticles, which exhibited magnetic behavior with relatively high spontaneous magnetization at room temperature, were identified as being mainly formed by maghemite (γFe2O3). The coated magnetic nanoparticles (sample labeled “mPANI”) presented a real ability to bind biological molecules such as trypsin, forming the magnetic enzyme derivative (sample “mPANIG-Trypsin”). The amount of protein and specific activity of the immobilized trypsin were found to be 13±5 μg of protein/mg of mPANI (49.3 % of immobilized protein) and 24.1±0.7 U/mg of immobilized protein, respectively. After 48 days of storage at 4 °C, the activity of the immobilized trypsin was found to be 89 % of its initial activity. This simple, fast and low-cost procedure was revealed to be a promising way to prepare mPANI nanoparticles if technological applications addressed to covalently link biomolecules are envisaged. This route yields chemically stable derivatives, which can be easily recovered from the reaction mixture with a magnetic field and recyclable reused.  相似文献

We investigated remagnetization processes in ferromagnetic nanoparticles under inhomogeneous magnetic field induced by the tip of magnetic force microscope (MFM) in both theoretical and empirical ways. Systematic MFM observations were carried out on arrays of submicron-sized elliptical ferromagnetic particles of Co and FeCr with different sizes and periods. It clearly reveals the distribution of remanent magnetization and processes of local remagnetization of individual ferromagnetic particles. Modeling of remagnetization processes in ferromagnetic nanoparticles under magnetic field induced by MFM probe was performed on the base of Landau–Lifshitz–Gilbert equation for magnetization. MFM-induced inhomogeneous magnetic field is very effective to control the magnetic state of individual ferromagnetic nanoparticles as well as to create different distribution of magnetic field in array of ferromagnetic nanoparticles.  相似文献

Superparamagnetic silica-coated magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles with immobilized metal affinity ligands were prepared for protein adsorption. First, magnetite nanoparticles were synthesized by co-precipitating Fe2+ and Fe3+ in an ammonia solution. Then silica was coated on the Fe3O4 nanoparticles using a sol–gel method to obtain magnetic silica nanoparticles. The condensation product of 3-Glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane (GLYMO) and iminodiacetic acid (IDA) was immobilized on them and after charged with Cu2+, the magnetic silica nanoparticles with immobilized Cu2+ were applied for the adsorption of bovine serum albumin (BSA). Scanning electron micrograph showed that the magnetic silica nanoparticles with an average size of 190 nm were well dispersed without aggregation. X-ray diffraction showed the spinel structure for the magnetite particles coated with silica. Magnetic measurement revealed the magnetic silica nanoparticles were superparamagnetic and the saturation magnetization was about 15.0 emu/g. Protein adsorption results showed that the nanoparticles had high adsorption capacity for BSA (73 mg/g) and low nonspecific adsorption. The regeneration of these nanoparticles was also studied.  相似文献

Cobalt nanoparticles have been embedded either within magnetic thin films of CuNi or Ni, or at their interface with an Al capping layer. Soft X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) was used to measure element-specific hysteresis loops, allowing discrimination between the nanoparticles and the host film. The hysteresis shows coupling between the nanoparticles and the films and a reduction in coercivity is observed when positioning the nanoparticles within the film, as opposed to at its interface with the cap. Sum rule analysis of the XMCD spectra makes it possible to determine the orbital to spin moment ratios for Co and Ni in the samples. The difference in the calculated ratios is consistent with the differences in the coercivities, the films appearing more homogenous due to hybridization of the 3d bands of Co and Ni when the nanoparticles are embedded deeper within the films, creating less pinning sites and hence a lower coercivity.  相似文献

We have developed a model for describing nanoparticles magnetic dynamics. This allows us to fit self-consistently the wide set of the experimental data, particularly, the evolution of M?ssbauer spectral shape with temperature and external magnetic field as well as the magnetization curves for nanoparticles injected into mice. Thus, we reliably evaluate changes in characteristics of the nanoparticles and their chemical transformation to ferritin-like forms in mouse’s organs as a function of time after injection of nanoparticles. Actually, the approach allows one to quantitatively characterize biodegradation and biotransformation of magnetic particles in a body.  相似文献

Recently, multiferroic nanoparticles (MFNPs) have attracted significant attention as dopant in the nematic liquid crystal (NLC) medium. Here, behavior of the NLC molecules and MFNPs in the presence of a magnetic field is theoretically investigated in the framework of continuum theory, based on our knowledge. The electric field of the MFNPs is taken into account in the calculations. Freedericksz transition (FT) threshold field in the presence of spherical nanoparticles is determined. Dependence of the FT threshold to the diameter and volume fraction of the nanoparticles was studied. Also, the NLC director and nanoparticle reorientations for the magnetic field larger than the FT threshold field are studied. It was shown that the FT threshold of NLC is decreased by doping of spherical MFNPs. Migration of the nanoparticles to the central layers of the cell (segregation effect) is investigated.  相似文献
