The length‐preserving nonlocal flow in the plane is investigated for locally convex closed curves, which may be non‐simple. It turns out that for certain classes of symmetric curves, the flows converge to m‐fold circles. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献

We consider the area-preserving mean curvature flow with free Neumann boundaries. We show that a rotationally symmetric n-dimensional hypersurface in R~(n+1)between two parallel hyperplanes will converge to a cylinder with the same area under this flow. We use the geometric properties and the maximal principle to obtain gradient and curvature estimates, leading to long-time existence of the flow and convergence to a constant mean curvature surface. 相似文献

We study real algebraic plane curves, at an elementary level, using as little algebra as possible. Both cases, affine and projective, are addressed. A real curve is infinite, finite or empty according to the fact that a minimal polynomial for the curve is indefinite, semi-definite nondefinite or definite. We present a discussion about isolated points. By means of the P operator, these points can be easily identified for curves defined by minimal polynomials of order bigger than one. We also discuss the conditions that a curve must satisfy in order to have a minimal polynomial. Finally, we list the most relevant topological properties of affine and projective, complex and real plane algebraic curves. 相似文献

We study monomial curves, toric ideals and monomial algebras associated to 4-generated pseudo symmetric numerical semigroups. Namely, we determine indispensable binomials of these toric ideals, give a characterization for these monomial algebras to have strongly indispensable minimal graded free resolutions. We also characterize when the tangent cones of these monomial curves at the origin are Cohen–Macaulay. 相似文献

For a smooth complex curve C ? ?2 we consider the link Lr = C ∩ ?Br, where Br denotes an Euclidean ball of radius r > 0. We prove that the diagram Dr obtained from Lr by a complex stereographic projection satisfies χ(C ∩Br) = rot(Dr)?wr(Dr). As a consequence we show that if Dr has no negative Seifert circles and Lr is strongly quasipositive and fibered, then the Yamada–Vogel algorithm applied to Dr yields a quasipositive braid. 相似文献

Abstract Let A be a commutative ring with identity, let X, Y be indeterminates and let F(X,Y), G(X, Y) ∈ A[X, Y] be homogeneous. Then the pair F(X, Y), G(X, Y) is said to be radical preserving with respect to A if Rad((F(x, y), G(x, y))R) = Rad((x,y)R) for each A-algebra R and each pair of elements x, y in R. It is shown that infinite sequences of pairwise radical preserving polynomials can be obtained by homogenizing cyclotomic polynomials, and that under suitable conditions on a ?-graded ring A these can be used to produce an infinite set of homogeneous prime ideals between two given homogeneous prime ideals P ? A totally symmetric plane partition of size n is a plane partition whose three-dimensional Ferrers graph is contained in the box Xn = [1, n] × [1, n] × [1, n] and which is mapped to itself under all permutations of the coordinate axes. The complement of the Ferrers graph of such a plane partition (that is, the set of lattice points in the box Xn that do not belong to the Ferrers graph) is again totally symmetric when viewed from the vantage point of the vertex (n + 1, n + 1, n + 1). A totally symmetric plane partition is self-complementary if it is congruent (in the geometrical sense) to its complement. This cannot occur unless n = 2m is even. In this paper we give several conjectures and a few theorems concerning self-complementary totally symmetric plane partitions. In particular we describe evidence which indicates a close relationship with m by m alternating sign matrices. In an earlier paper we described the close connection between m by m alternating sign matrices and descending plane partitions with no parts exceeding m. We are thus left with three classes of objects which are all apparently interrelated. There remain many unsolved problems, the simplest of which is to prove that any two of the objects have the same cardinality. 相似文献
