A gravitational field can be seen as the anholonomy of the tetrad fields. This is more explicit in the teleparallel approach, in which the gravitational field-strength is the torsion of the ensuing Weitzenböck connection. In a tetrad frame, that torsion is just the anholonomy of that frame. The infinitely many tetrad fields taking the Lorentz metric into a given Riemannian metric differ by point-dependent Lorentz transformations. Inertial frames constitute a smaller infinity of them, differing by fixed-point Lorentz transformations. Holonomic tetrads take the Lorentz metric into itself, and correspond to Minkowski flat spacetime. An accelerated frame is necessarily anholonomic and sees the electromagnetic field strength with an additional term.  相似文献

The parametric dependence of a quantum map under the influence of a rank-1 perturbation is investigated. While the Floquet operator of the map and its spectrum have a common period with respect to the perturbation strength lambda, we show an example in which none of the quasienergies nor the eigenvectors obey the same period: After a periodic increment of lambda, the quasienergy arrives at the nearest higher one, instead of the initial one, exhibiting an anholonomy, which governs another anholonomy of the eigenvectors. As a nonrelativistic particle constrained to remain on an(N?1)-dimensional((N≥2))hypersurface embedded in an N-dimensional Euclidean space,two different components pi and pj(i,j=1,2,3,...N)of the Cartesian momentum of the particle are not mutually commutative,and explicitly commutation relations[p^i,p^j](≠0) depend on products of positions and momenta in uncontrollable ways.The generalized Dupin indicatrix of the hypersurface,a local analysis technique,is utilized to explore the dependence of the noncommutativity on the curvatures around a local point of the hypersurface.The first finding is that the noncommutativity can be grouped into two categories;one is the product of a sectional curvature and the angular momentum,and another is the product of a principal curvature and the momentum.The second finding is that,for a small circle lying a tangential plane covering the local point,the noncommutativity leads to a rotation operator and the amount of the rotation is an angle anholonomy;and along each of the normal sectional curves centering the given point the noncommutativity leads to a translation plus an additional rotation and the amount of the rotation is one half of the tangential angle change of the arc.  相似文献

According to the Einstein-Mayer theory of the Riemanniann space-time with Einstein-Cartan teleparallelism, the local Lorentz invariance is broken by the gravitational field defining Machian reference systems. This breaking of symmetry implies the occurrence of “hidden matter” in the Einstein equations of gravity. The hidden matter is described by the non-Lorentz-invariant energy-momentum tensor satisfying the relation . According to this theory, in the universe and in cosmic systems one must excep “invisible masses” described by the Poincaré and Einstein-Cartan terms to exist. We consider the Abelian Higgs model with a Chern-Simons term coupled to the Einstein theory of gravitation in 3-dimensional space-time. We seek a finite solution, regular everywhere, having a stationary, cylindrically symmetric metric. We analyze these field equations and we suggest that such a solution exists. We find that the asymptotic metric of this solution corresponds to that which describes gravitationally a massive particle with spin. We obtain explicitly the expression of the spin. We give only the expression of the mass in the first order with respect to the gravitational coupling constant.  相似文献

Here we briefly review the concept of “prediction” within the context of classical relativity theory. We prove a theorem asserting that one may predict one’s own future only in a closed universe. We then question whether prediction is possible at all (even in closed universes). We note that interest in prediction has stemmed from considering the epistemological predicament of the observer. We argue that the definitions of prediction found thus far in the literature do not fully appreciate this predicament. We propose a more adequate alternative and show that, under this definition, prediction is essentially impossible in general relativity.  相似文献

We present a model for tail wavelets, a phenomenon known as "echo" in the literature. The tail wavelet may appear in signal reconnaissances in the merger of binary compact objects, including black holes and neutron stars. We show that the dark matter surrounding the compact objects lead to a speculated tail wavelet following the main gravitational wave(GW). We demonstrate that the radiation pressure of the main wave is fully capable of pushing away the surrounding matter to some altitude, and splashing down of the matter excites the tail wavelet after ringing down of the main wave. We illustrate this concept in a simplified model, where numerical estimations are conducted on the specific distribution of dark matter outside the black hole horizon and the threshold values in accordance with observations. We study the full back reaction of the surrounding dark matter to the metric and find that the effect on to the tail wavelets is insignificant. We reveal the fine difference between the tail wavelets of a dressed and a bare black hole. We demonstrate that the tail wavelet can appear as a natural phenomenon in the frame of general relativity, without invoking modified gravities or quantum effects.  相似文献

We discuss the concepts of Weyl and Riemann frames in the context of metric theories of gravity and state the fact that they are completely equivalent as far as geodesic motion is concerned. We apply this result to conformally flat spacetimes and show that a new picture arises when a Riemannian spacetime is taken by means of geometrical gauge transformations into a Minkowskian flat spacetime. We find out that in the Weyl frame gravity is described by a scalar field. We give some examples of how conformally flat spacetime configurations look when viewed from the standpoint of a Weyl frame. We show that in the non-relativistic and weak field regime the Weyl scalar field may be identified with the Newtonian gravitational potential. We suggest an equation for the scalar field by varying the Einstein-Hilbert action restricted to the class of conformally-flat spacetimes. We revisit Einstein and Fokker’s interpretation of Nordstr?m scalar gravity theory and draw an analogy between this approach and the Weyl gauge formalism. We briefly take a look at two-dimensional gravity as viewed in the Weyl frame and address the question of quantizing a conformally flat spacetime by going to the Weyl frame.  相似文献

We have studied the dynamics of an artificial nonlinear element representing a flexible membrane with oscillation limiters and a static pressing force. Such an element has the property of “bimodularity” and demonstrates “modular” nonlinearity. We have constructed a mathematical model that describes these oscillations. Their shapes have been calculated. We follow the analogy with a classical object—Galileo’s pendulum. We demonstrate that for a low-frequency excitation of the membrane, the level of the harmonics in the spectrum is higher than in the vicinity of the resonance frequency. We have established a strong dependence of the level of the harmonics on the magnitude of the pressing force for a weak perturbation. We propose a design scheme for a device in the quasi-static approximation possessing the property of bimodularity. We perform an experiment that confirms its operability. We show a qualitative coincidence of the experimental results and calculations when detecting an amplitude-modulated signal.  相似文献

We investigate the selective forces that promote the emergence of modularity in nature. We demonstrate the spontaneous emergence of modularity in a population of individuals that evolve in a changing environment. We show that the level of modularity correlates with the rapidity and severity of environmental change. The modularity arises as a synergistic response to the noise in the environment in the presence of horizontal gene transfer. We suggest that the hierarchical structure observed in the natural world may be a broken-symmetry state, which generically results from evolution in a changing environment.  相似文献

We measure the absorption spectrum of a two-dimensional electron system (2DES) in a GaAs quantum well in the presence of a perpendicular magnetic field. We focus on the absorption spectrum into the lowest Landau level around nu=1. We find that the spectrum consists of bound electron-hole complexes, trionlike and excitonlike. We show that their oscillator strength is a powerful probe of the 2DES spatial correlations. We find that near nu=1 the 2DES ground state consists of Skyrmions of small size (a few magnetic lengths).  相似文献

We study the Kuramoto-Sivashinky equation with periodic boundary conditions in the case of low-dimensional behavior. We analyze the bifurcations that occur in a six-dimensional (6D) approximation of its inertial manifold. We mainly focus on the attracting and structurally stable heteroclinic connections that arise for these parameter values. We reanalyze the ones that were previously described via a 4D reduction to the center-unstable manifold (Ambruster et al., 1988, 1989). We also find a parameter region for which a manifold of structurally stable heteroclinic cycles exist. The existence of such a manifold is responsible for an intermittent behavior which has some features of unpredictability.  相似文献

We propose a new Benney-like lattice and show that the new system of equations can be reduced to Chaplygin gas-like equations as well as the heavenly equation. We construct two infinite sets of conserved charges. The conserved densities are related to Legendre polynomials. We prove that the system is bi-Hamiltonian and that the conserved charges are in involution with respect to either of the Hamiltonian structures. We show that our Lax operator generates a new dispersionless Toda hierarchy.  相似文献

We have developed a kinematical theory for the asteroidal belt and Kirkwood gaps from the point of view of stellar dynamics. We have generated the potential that would produce these gaps and have made a spectral analysis study. We have shown that these gaps could be due to spiral tubes of matter in the ecliptic plane as a consequence of differential rotation and spatial interference of density waves. We have also shown that this mechanism could account for depletion of matter from this region.  相似文献

We examine the Galilean invariance of standard lattice Boltzmann methods for two-phase fluids. We show that the known Galilean invariant term that is cubic in the velocities, and is usually neglected, is a major source of Galilean invariance violations. We show that incorporating a correction term can improve the Galilean invariance of the method by up to two orders of magnitude for large velocities. We found that this is true in particular for methods in which the interactions are incorporated through a forcing term. Methods in which interactions are incorporated through a non-ideal pressure tensor only benefit for large velocities.  相似文献
