Using the field theory renormalization group technique in the two-loop approximation, we study the influence of helicity (spatial parity violation) on the turbulent Prandtl number in the model of a scalar field passively advected by the helical turbulent environment given by the stochastic Navier-Stokes equation with a self-similar Gaussian random stirring force δ-correlated in time with the correlator proportional to k 4−d−2ɛ. We briefly discuss the influence of helicity on the stability of the corresponding scaling regime. We show that the presence of helicity increases the value of the turbulent Prandtl number up to 50% of its nonhelical value.  相似文献

We show that the Vrănceanu connection which was initially introduced on non-holonomic manifolds can be used to study the geometry of foliated manifolds. We prove that a foliation is totally geodesic with bundle-like metric if and only if this connection is a metric one. We introduce the notion of a foliated Riemannian manifold of constant transversal Vrănceanu curvature and the notion of a transversal Einstein foliated Riemannian manifold. The geometry of these two classes of manifolds is studied and the relationship between them is determined.  相似文献

We give an explicit expression of a two-parameter family of Flensted-Jensen’s functions Ψ μα on a concrete realization of the universal covering group of U(1, 1). We prove that these functions are, up to a phase factor, radial eigenfunctions of the Landau Hamiltonian on the hyperbolic disc with a magnetic field strength proportional to μ, and corresponding to the eigenvalue 4α(α − 1).  相似文献

We will show that the bricks (of Bosbach) and the pseudo MV-algebras are each term equivalent to the class of semigroups with a pair of unary operations ^ and ˘ satisfying the equations: (aa)^b = b = b()˘ and a( a)˘ = ()^b and also show that a brick is an interval [0, u] of the positive cone of a unital lattice ordered group. We further extend the notion of implications to a pseudo MV-algebra and study the algebra of such implications.   相似文献

We show that the optical Magnus effect for dissipative solitons is determined not only by the helicity but also by the topological index, i.e., by the magnetic quantum number or by the projection of the soliton orbital moment on its trajectory. Using the field theory renormalization-group technique in the two-loop approximation, we study the influence of helicity (spatial parity violation) on the turbulent magnetic Prandtl number in the model of kinematic magnetohydrodynamic turbulence, where the magnetic field behaves as a passive vector quantity advected by the helical turbulent environment given by the stochastic Navier-Stokes equation. We show that the presence of helicity decreases the value of the turbulent magnetic Prandtl number and that the two-loop helical contribution to the turbulent magnetic Prandtl number is up to 4.2% of its nonhelical value. This result demonstrates the strong stability of the properties of diffusion processes of the magnetic field in turbulent environments with spatial parity violation compared with the corresponding systems without the helicity.  相似文献

We consider the factorial quotients (2n − 1)!!/(2n)!! in connection with the Wallis formula n −1(2n)!!2/(2n − 1)!!2 → π. A multiplicative semigroup S is called a ring semigroup if an addition may be defined on S so that (S,+,⋅) is a ring. Such semigroups have been well-studied in the literature (see Bell in Words, Languages and Combinatorics, pp. 24–31, World Scientific, Singapore, 1994; Jones in Semigroup Forum 47(1):1–6, 1993; Jones and Ligh in Semigroup Forum 17(2):163–173, 1979). In this note, we use Mihăilescu’s Theorem (formerly Catalan’s Conjecture) to characterize the ring semigroups whose subsemigroups containing 0 form a chain with respect to set inclusion.  相似文献

We investigate the growth of the Nevanlinna characteristic of f(z+η) for a fixed ηC in this paper. In particular, we obtain a precise asymptotic relation between T(r,f(z+η)) and T(r,f), which is only true for finite order meromorphic functions. We have also obtained the proximity function and pointwise estimates of f(z+η)/f(z) which is a discrete version of the classical logarithmic derivative estimates of f(z). We apply these results to give new growth estimates of meromorphic solutions to higher order linear difference equations. This also allows us to solve an old problem of Whittaker (Interpolatory Function Theory, Cambridge University Press, Cambridge, 1935) concerning a first order difference equation. We show by giving a number of examples that all of our results are best possible in certain senses. Finally, we give a direct proof of a result in Ablowitz, Halburd and Herbst (Nonlinearity 13:889–905, 2000) concerning integrable difference equations. We have implemented in Matlab a Gauss-like cubature formula over convex, nonconvex or even multiply connected polygons. The formula is exact for polynomials of degree at most 2n-1 using Nmn 2 nodes, m being the number of sides that are not orthogonal to a given line, and not lying on it. It does not need any preprocessing like triangulation of the domain, but relies directly on univariate Gauss–Legendre quadrature via Green’s integral formula. Several numerical tests are presented. The conducting liquid interface is found to undulate in an alternating magnetic field. It was shown earlier that ifM =B 0 2/μηω, B0, ω, μ andη being the amplitude (complex) of the alternating longitudinal magnetic field imposed at the interface, the angular frequency of the field, the magnetic permeability and the viscosity respectively, and ifM c was the critical value ofM then the planar layer was stable or unstable according asM < M c orM > M c. In this paper we have determined the stability criterion when in addition to the alternating longitudinal field there acts a uniform field in the same direction. After comparing our results with those obtained earlier, in the absence of the uniform field, we find that the additional uniform field has a significant destabilizing effect.  相似文献

The Green's function of the Dirac equation with an external stationary homogeneous magnetic field in the (2+1)-dimensional quantum electrodynamics (QED 2+1) with a nonzero fermion density is constructed. An expression for the polarization operator in an external stationary homogenous magnetic field with a nonzero chemical potential is derived in the one-loopQED 2+1 approximation. The contribution of the induced Chern—Simons term to the polarization operator and the effective Lagrangian for the fermion density corresponding to the occupation of n relativistic Landau levels in an external magnetic field are calculated. An expression of the induced Chern—Simons term in a magnetic field for the case of a finite temperature and a nonzero chemical potential is obtained. In this paper, we discuss a p-adic analogue of the Picard–Lefschetz formula. For a family with ordinary double points over a complete discrete valuation ring of mixed characteristic (0,p), we construct vanishing cycle modules which measure the difference between the rigid cohomology groups of the special fiber and the de Rham cohomology groups of the generic fiber. Furthermore, the monodromy operators on the de Rham cohomology groups of the generic fiber are described by the canonical generators of the vanishing cycle modules in the same way as in the case of the ℓ-adic (or classical) Picard–Lefschetz formula. For the construction and the proof, we use the logarithmic de Rham–Witt complexes and those weight filtrations investigated by Mokrane (Duke Math. J. 72(2):301–337, 1993).   相似文献

A semi-classical quantum theory of the cyclotron radiation of the nonrelativistic thermal electrons in a very strong magnetic field is presented. The basic formulae of the absorption coefficient of cyclotron resonancek vand the absorption (scattering) cross-section of cyclotron resonance σ v have been derived under the quadrupole approximation. σ v is an important quantity in the study of the “magnetic inverse-Compton scattering”. It is shown that σ v is greatly larger than the Thomson cross-sectron σT, which is important in discussing the magnetic inverse-Compton scattering of the relativistic electrons in a very strong magnetic field. Consider a compact manifold M with boundary M endowed with a Riemannian metric g and a magnetic field Ω. Given a point and direction of entry at the boundary, the scattering relation Σ determines the point and direction of exit of a particle of unit charge, mass, and energy. In this paper we show that a magnetic system (M, M,g,Ω) that is known to be real-analytic and that satisfies some mild restrictions on conjugate points is uniquely determined up to a natural equivalence by Σ. In the case that the magnetic field Ω is taken to be zero, this gives a new rigidity result in Riemannian geometry that is more general than related results in the literature.  相似文献
