Characterization of some [C4H5O2]+ ions in the gas phase using their collisional activation mass spectra shows that the isomeric ions \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ {\rm CH}_3 {\rm OCH = CH} - \mathop {\rm C}\limits^ + {\rm = O,} $\end{document} and \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ {\rm HC} \equiv {\rm C} - \mathop {{\rm C}({\rm OH}){\rm OCH}_3 }\limits^ + $\end{document} are stable for t?10?5 s. Of these, ions of structure were generated by the site specific gas phase protonation of γ-crotonolactone with isobutane or methanol as chemical ionization reagent gases. These results and those derived from measurements on some 2H, 13C and 18O labelled [C4H5O2]+ product ions, were used to study the mechanisms of unimolecular radical elimination reactions, viz. (1) loss of CH3˙ from [trans-methyl crotonate], (2) loss of H˙ from [methyl acrylate]+˙, (3) loss of H˙ from [cyclopropane carboxylic acid]+˙ and (4) loss of CH3˙ from [1,3-dimethoxypropyne]+˙. It is concluded that none of these losses occur by simple bond cleavage. Mechanisms are presented which account for the observation that the first three reactions yield product ions of structure whereas the ions generated by reaction (4) have structure \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ {\rm CH}_3 {\rm OCH = CH} - \mathop {\rm C}\limits^ + {\rm = O}{\rm .} $\end{document}. It is further proposed that a minor fraction of the [M-CH3]+ ions from ionized trans-methyl crotonate is generated via a rearrangement process which yields ions of structure \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ {\rm CH}_3 {\rm OCH = CH} - \mathop {\rm C}\limits^ + {\rm = O}{\rm .} $\end{document}.  相似文献

Methods are described for the unequivocal identification of the acetyl, [CH3? \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ \mathop {\rm C}\limits^{\rm + } $\end{document} ?O] (a), 1-hydroxyvinyl, [CH2?\documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ \mathop {\rm C}\limits^{\rm + } $\end{document}? OH] (b), and oxiranyl, (d), cations. They involve the careful examination of metastable peak intensities and shapes and collision induced processes at very low, high and intermediate collision gas pressures. It will be shown that each [C2H3O]+ ion produces a unique metastable peak for the fragmentation [C2H3O]+ → [CH3]++CO, each appropriately relating to different [C2H3O]+ structures. [CH3? \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ \mathop {\rm C}\limits^{\rm + } $\end{document}?O] ions do not interconvert with any of the other [C2H3O]+ ions prior to loss of CO, but deuterium and 13C labelling experiments established that [CH2?\documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ \mathop {\rm C}\limits^{\rm + } $\end{document}? OH] (b) rearranges via a 1,2-H shift into energy-rich leading to the loss of positional identity of the carbon atoms in ions (b). Fragmentation of b to [CH3]++CO has a high activation energy, c. 400 kJ mol?1. On the other hand, , generated at its threshold from a suitable precursor molecule, does not rearrange into [CH2?\documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ \mathop {\rm C}\limits^{\rm + } $\end{document}? OH], but undergoes a slow isomerization into [CH3? \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ \mathop {\rm C}\limits^{\rm + } $\end{document}?O] via [CH2\documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ \mathop {\rm C}\limits^{\rm + } $\end{document}HO]. Interpretation of results rests in part upon recent ab initio calculations. The methods described in this paper permit the identification of reactions that have hitherto lain unsuspected: for example, many of the ionized molecules of type CH3COR examined in this work produce [CH2?\documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ \mathop {\rm C}\limits^{\rm + } $\end{document}? OH] ions in addition to [CH3? \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ \mathop {\rm C}\limits^{\rm + } $\end{document}?O] showing that some enolization takes place prior to fragmentation. Furthermore, ionized ethanol generates a, b and d ions. We have also applied the methods for identification of daughter ions in systems of current interest. The loss of OH˙ from [CH3COOD] generates only [CH2?\documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ \mathop {\rm C}\limits^{\rm + } $\end{document}? OD]. Elimination of CH3˙ from the enol of acetone radical cation most probably generates only [CH3? \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ \mathop {\rm C}\limits^{\rm + } $\end{document}?O] ions, confirming the earlier proposal for non-ergodic behaviour of this system. We stress, however, that until all stable isomeric species (such as [CH3? \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ \mathop {\rm O}\limits^{\rm + } $\end{document}?C:]) have been experimentally identified, the hypothesis of incompletely randomized energy should be used with reserve.  相似文献

Characterization of [C4H5O]+ ions in the gas phase using their metastable ion and collisional activation spectra shows that the three isomeric ions HC?C? \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ \mathop {\rm C}\limits^{\rm + } $\end{document}H? OCH3, CH3O? \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ \mathop {\rm C}\limits^{\rm + } $\end{document}?C?CH2 and ? OCH3 related to the two stable [C3H3]+ cations [HC?C? CH2]+ and are stable for ≥ 10?5s. In contrast to the formation of cyclopropenium ions, it is found that the methoxy cyclopropenium ion is not generated from acyclic precursor molecules. The small but significant intensity differences found in the collisional activation spectra of [C3H3]+ ions generated from HC?C? CH2I and HC?C? CH2Cl possibly indicate the presence of [C3H3]+ ions of different structures.  相似文献

In contrast to Fe+/diol complexes, gas-phase dehydrogenation of the corresponding FeII alkoxides, [FeO(CH2)nCH2OH]+, is a highly specific process in the course of which oxidation of the terminal OH group takes place. Based on labeling studies, this is the exclusive mechanism for n = 2 and 3 (Scheme: path ); for higher homologues, as for example [FeOf(CH2)7CH2OH]+, the labeling data demonstrate that an additional mechanism is operative, involving the dehydrogenation of internal positions of the alkyl chain (path ). The Fe+-mediated oxidation –CH2OH → –CHO +H2: constitutes one of the rare examples of O-H bond activation by late cationic transition-metal ions.  相似文献

[C2H3O]+ ions with the initial structures [CH3CO]+, and [CH2CHO]+ cannot be distinguished on the basis of their collisional activation spectra, demonstrating that these isomers interconvert at energies below their threshold for decomposition. Self-protonation of ketene leads to the [CH3CO]+ ion, while the [C2H3O]+ ion generated from glycerol most probably has the structure of an oxygen protonated ketene [CH2?C?OH]+.  相似文献

Mass spectra from collisionally activated dissociation (CAD) of [C2H3O]+ ions, including isotopically labeled analogs, provide further information on the isomers [CH3C?O+] (a), [CH2?C?O+H] (b), [+CH2CH?O] (c) and (d). Our data generally support the recent conclusions from theory by Radom and coworkers and from experiment by Terlouw, Holmes and coworkers. Most acetyl-containing molecular ions form a ions in high purity only at low energies, consistent with isomerization of higher energy molecular ions to form the more stable enol which dissociates to b. Isomer d, prepared from (CICH2)2CHOH, undergoes facile hydrogen scrambling, presumably through a degenerate 1,2-hydrogen shift. Theory suggests that c undergoes spontaneous isomerization to a and d; although [C2H3O]+ ions from BrCH2CHO appear to consist of a and ~15% d, the latter are formed without substantial hydrogen scrambling.  相似文献

Loss of an alkyl group X? from acetylenic alcohols HC?C? CX(OH)(CH3) and gas phase protonation of HC?C? CO? CH3 are both shown to yield stable HC?C? \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ \mathop {\rm C}\limits^{\rm + } $\end{document}(OH)(CH3) ions. Ions of this structure are unique among all other [C4H5O]+ isomers by having m/z 43 [C2H3O]+ as base peak in both the metastable ion and collisional activation spectra. It is concluded that the composite metastable peak for formation of m/z 43 corresponds to two distinct reaction profiles which lead to the same product ion, CH3\documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ \mathop {\rm C}\limits^{\rm + } $\end{document}?O, and neutral, HC?CH. It is further shown that the [C4H5O]+ ions from related alcohols (like HC?C? CH(OH)(CH3)) which have an α-H atom available for isomerization into energy rich allenyl type molecular ions, consist of a second stable structure, H2C?\documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ \mathop {\rm C}\limits^{\rm + } $\end{document}? From deuterium labelling experiments it was concluded that metastable molecular ions of ethyl methyl sulfide lose a methyl radical with the formation of both [CH3S?CH2]+ amd [CH3CH?SH]+˙ The fragmentation reactions of metastable ions generated with these structure are losses of C2H2, H2S and CH4. These reactoins and the preceding isomerizations have also been studied by means of deuterium labelling. From the results it is concluded that the three fragmentation reactions most probably occur from ions with a C? C? S skeleton. Appearance energy measurements for ions generated with the two structures above and all give rise to the same ΔHf value for these three isomeric forms. Ab initio molecular orbitals calculations confirm that these three ions fortuitously have very similar heats of formation. A potential energy diagram rationalizing the isomerizations and the principal fragmentation reaction is presented.  相似文献

The products of the metastable decompositions of ionized ethyl formate (a) are characterized. The loss of water from a produces ·CH2CH2CO+, a rarely reported product. Loss of H appears to produce CH2=CHC(OH). The third decomposition is an unusual formation of C2H. This work demonstrates that a previous supposition that isomerization to different intermediates is involved in the losses of ethene and of water from a is correct.  相似文献

Mössbauer isomer shifts of 119Sn in a series of complexes K2Sn(OH)6-mFm observed at 78 K were ?0.05, ?0.05, ?0.24, ?0.27 and ?0.40 mm s?1, respectively, for m=0, 2, 4, 5 and 6. These IS values were linearly related to both m and (the average Pauling electronegativity of the ligands): . The IS straight line was compatible within experimental error with the one reported by Parish and Row-botham for the hexahalogenostannate complexes SnX4Y22, namely, The revised IS straight line including both series of complexes could be expressed by the equation Quadrupole splittings observed in the complexes of m = 2,4 and 5 were 1.16, 0.80 and 0.73 mm s?1 respectively. They were linearly related to both m and .  相似文献

The structures of the m/z 87, [C4H7O2]+, ions generated by dissociative ionization of CH3CGXCOOCH3 and XCH2CH2COOCH3 (X = CH3, Cl, Br, and I) have been investigated via their unimolecular and collisionally activated fragmentations and by apperance energy measurements. For both precursors loss of X = CH3 produced, via H atom transfer, ions of structure \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ {\rm CH_2 = CH}\mathop {\rm C}\limits^{\rm + } \left({{\rm OH}} \right){\rm OCH}_{\rm 3} $\end{document} (a), ΔHf = 386 kj mol?1. In marked contrast, loss of I˙ from ionized CH3CHICOOCH3 and ICH2CH2COOCH3 proceeded without rearrangement to yield respectively ions of structure \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ {\rm CH_3}\mathop {\rm C}\limits^{\rm + } {{\rm HCOOCH_3}} $\end{document} (b), ΔHf = 480 kJ mol?1 and (c), ΔHf = 450 kJ mol?1. These different fragmentation behaviours are explained via photoelectron spectra which show that the formal charge site in the precursor ion is at the carbonyl oxygen when X = CH3 but at the halogen atom when X = I. The precursor molecules X = Cl and Br display both of the above characteristics, CH3CHXCOOCH3 yielding mixtures of a and b and XCH2CH2COOCH3 producing a and c ions.  相似文献

Ab initio molecular orbital calculations with large, polarization basis sets and incorporating valence electron correlation have been employed to examine the [C2H2O] potential energy surface. Four [C2H2O] isomers have been identified as potentially stable, observable ions. These are the experimentally well-known ketene radical cation, [CH2?C?O] (a), and the presently unknown ethynol radical cation, [CH2?C? OH] (b), the oxirene radical cation (c) and an ion resembling a complex of CO with [CH2], (d). The calculated energies of b, c and d relative to a are 189, 257 and 259 kJ mol?1, respectively. Dissociation of ions a and d is found to occur without reverse activation energy.  相似文献

Ab initio molecular orbital theory using basis sets up to 6-311G* *, with electron correlation incorporated via configuration interaction calculations with single and double substitutions, has been used to study the structures and energies of the C3H2 monocation and dication. In agreement with recent experimental observations, we find evidence for stable cyclic and linear isomers of [C3H2]+ ˙. The cyclic structure (, a) represents the global minimum on the [C3H2]+ ˙ potential energy surface. The linear isomer (, b) lies somewhat higher in energy, 53 kJ mol?1 above a. The calculated heat of formation for [HCCCH]+ ˙ (1369 kJ mol?1) is in good agreement with a recent experimental value (1377 kJ mol?1). For the [C3H2]2+ dication, the lowest energy isomer corresponds to the linear [HCCCH]2+ singlet (h). Other singlet and triplet isomers are found not to be competitive in energy. The [HCCCH]2+ dication (h) is calculated to be thermodynamically stable with respect to deprotonation and with respect to C? C cleavage into CCH+ + CH+. The predicted stability is consistent with the frequent observation of [C3H2]2+ in mass spectrometric experiments. Comparison of our calculated ionization energies for the process [C3H2]+ ˙ → [C3H2]2+ with the Qmin values derived from charge-stripping experiments suggests that the ionization is accompanied by a significant change in structure.  相似文献

The abundant [C4H5O]+ (m/z 69) ions found in the 70 eV mass spectra of a series of acetylenic, allenylic and unsaturated cyclic ethers are shown to have the following structures: HC?C? \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ \mathop {\rm C}\limits^{\rm + } $\end{document}H? OCH3 (e), H2C?C?—OCH3 (f), (g) and H? C?C? CH2—O\documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ \mathop {\rm C}\limits^{\rm + } $\end{document}H2 (h). Of these, the cyclic ion g is the most stable: its ion enthalpy (≥ 165 kcal mol?1) is close to that found for the acyclic C3H5\documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ \mathop {\rm C}\limits^{\rm + } $\end{document}? O isomers identified in a previous study. Evidence that these four isomeric [C4H5O]+ ions are stable species with lifetimes ≥ 10?5 s is obtained from their collisional activation spectra, the shape of the metastable peaks and the associated kinetic energy release values for the common loss of CO, thermochemical information and analysis of deuterium and carbon-13 labelled precursor molecules. It is further shown that loss of X? from ethers of the type X? C?C? CH2OCH3 involves isomerization into energy rich allenyl type ions [(X)HC?C?CHOCH3]+˙ . These ions undergo loss of X? by simple bond cleavage, yielding, e type product ions, when the C? X bond strength is relatively low (X?I, Br). When X?Cl and especially CH3 or H, X? is only lost after rearrangement yielding the cyclic product ion g. The mechanism for this cyclization reaction is related to that proposed in a previous study for the ester→ acid isomerization in the molecular ions of the esters of α, β-unsaturated carboxylic acids.  相似文献

Collisionally activated spectra demonstrate that CH3CH2C?O+ rather than \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}${\rm CH}_{\rm 2} = {\rm CHCH = }\mathop {\rm O}\limits^{\rm + } {\rm H}$\end{document} is formed in the metastable losses of hydrogen from [C3H6O] ions with the oxygen on the first carbon. This provides another example of formation of an acyl ion following ‘ketonization’ prior to metastable decomposition.  相似文献

Characterization of [C4H5O]+ ions in the gas phase using their collisional activation spectra shows that the four C3H5\documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document} $\mathop {\rm C}\limits^ + =\!= $\end{document}O isomers CH2?C(CH3)\documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document} $\mathop {\rm C}\limits^ + =\!= $\end{document}O, CH2?CHCH2\documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document} $\mathop {\rm C}\limits^ + =\!= $\end{document}O, CH3CH?CH\documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document} $\mathop {\rm C}\limits^ + =\!= $\end{document}O and ?? \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document} $\mathop {\rm C}\limits^ + =\!= $\end{document}O are stable for ≥ 10?5 s. It is concluded further from the characteristic shapes for the unimolecular loss of CO from C3H5\documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document} $\mathop {\rm C}\limits^ + =\!= $\end{document}O ions generated from a series of precursor molecules that the CH2?CH(CH3)\documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document} $\mathop {\rm C}\limits^ + =\!= $\end{document}O- and CH2?CHCH2\documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document} $\mathop {\rm C}\limits^ + =\!= $\end{document}O-type ions dissociate over different potential surfaces to yield [allyl]+ and [2-propenyl]+ [C3H5]+ product ions respectively. Cyclopropyl carbonyl-type ions lose CO with a large kinetic energy release, which points to ring opening in the transition state, whereas this loss from CH3CH?CH\documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document} $\mathop {\rm C}\limits^ + =\!= $\end{document}O-type ions is proposed to occur via a rate determining 1,2-H shift to yield 2-propenyl cations.  相似文献

An MP4(full,SDTQ)/6-311++G(d,p)//MP2(full)/6-311++G(d,p) ab initio study was performed of the reactions of formyl and isoformyl cations with H2O and NH3, which play an important role in flame and interstellar chemistries. Two different confluent channels were located leading to CO+H3O+/NH. The first one corresponds to the approach of the neutral molecule to the carbon atom of the cations. The second one leads to the direct proton transfer from the cations to the neutrals. At 900 K the separate products CO+H3O+/NH are the most stable species along the Gibbs energy profiles for the processes. For the reaction with H2O the reaction channel leading to HC(OH) (protonated formic acid) is disfavored with respect to the two CO+H3O+ channels in agreement with the experimental evidence that H3O+ is the major ion observed in hydrocarbon flames. According to our calculations, NH+H2O are considerably more stable in Gibbs energy than NH3+H3O+;NH will predominate in the reaction zone when ammonia is added to CH4+Ar diffusion flame, as experimentally observed. At 100 K the most stable structures are the intermediate complexes CO…HOH/HNH. Particularly the CO…HOH complex has a lifetime large enough to be detected and, therefore, could play a certain role in interstellar chemistry. ©1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
