We report on how to tackle the problem of establishing a chiral effective field theory in nuclear matter with explicit pion fields and in the presence of external sources (Ann. Phys. 297, 27 (2002)). We have made use of the results of J.A. Oller (Phys. Rev. C 65, 025204 (2002)) where the generating functional for the in-medium chiral SU(2) x SU(2) Lagrangian has been derived. Within this approach we develop the so-called standard power counting rules for the calculation of in-medium pion properties if the residual nucleon energies are of the order of the pion mass. In addition, for the case of vanishing residual nucleon energies, a modified scheme (non-standard counting) is introduced. For both schemes the pertinent scales where the chiral expansions have to break down are established as well. We have performed a systematic analysis of n-point in-medium Green functions up to and including next-to-leading order when the standard rules apply. These include the in-medium contributions to quark condensates, pion propagators, pion masses and couplings of the axial-vector, vector and pseudoscalar currents to pions.Received: 30 September 2002, Published online: 22 October 2003PACS: 12.39.Fe Chiral Lagrangians - 11.30.Rd Chiral symmetries - 21.65. + f Nuclear matter  相似文献

This talk will report about a systematical implementation of a chiral effective field theory in nuclear matter with explicit pion fields and in the presence of external sources[1]. Within the generating functional approach of Ref.[2] the so-called standard power counting rules for the calculation of in-medium pion properties are developed that apply if the residual nucleon energies are of the order of the pion mass. In addition, for the case of vanishing residual nucleon energies, a modified scheme (non-standard counting) is introduced. For both schemes the pertinent scales where the chiral expansions have to break down are established as well. We report about a systematic analysis of n-point in-medium Green functions up to and including next-to-leading order when the standard rules apply. These include the in-medium contributions to quark condensates, pion propagators, pion masses and couplings of the axial-vector, vector and pseudoscalar currents to pions.  相似文献

We present an in-medium modified pion and rho meson Lagrangian which describes the pion, rho meson and the corresponding soliton properties in nuclear matter. Within the present approach pion properties in nuclear matter is closely related to the low-energy pion-nucleus scattering phenomenology. We discuss the possible modifications of rho meson properties in nuclear matter.  相似文献

The K^ scattering cross section with the in-medium virtual pion is evaluated in the lowest-order chiral perturbation theory with the density-dependent pion decay constant and mass. The contribution of nuclear pions to the total K^ -nucleus cross section is found to be about 5% and 12% when the excess pion numbers per nucleon nπ=0.057 and 0.13 are used. The inclusion of the off-mass-shell behavior of the K^ π amplitude produced a significant improvement in the K^ -nucleus cross section.  相似文献

We present an in-medium modified effective Lagrangian which describes the pion, rho- and omega mesons and the corresponding soliton properties in nuclear matter. We discuss possible modifications of ρ- and ω-meson properties in nuclear matter. In particular, the masses of vector mesons are shown to decrease about 30% at normal nuclear matter density within the present approach.  相似文献

We present results of a self-consistent calculation for the kaon and antikaon spectral functions in cold nuclear matter, using as input the kaon-nucleon and antikaon-nucleon scattering amplitudes of the vacuum. We investigate the effect of in-medium pion dressing on the antikaon-nucleon scattering amplitudes and antikaon spectral function. We find the influence of pion dressing to be minor on the antikaon spectral function and limited on the hyperon resonances causing only a small additional broadening. An exception is the Σ(1690). At nuclear saturation density an attractive mass shift of about 20 MeV and width of about 130 MeV is obtained. The kaon shows a repulsive mass increase of 36 MeV and a small width of the quasiparticle peak at saturation density.  相似文献

We study the influence of the virtual pion cloud in nuclear matter at finite densities and temperatures on the structure of the ρ- and ω-mesons. The in-matter spectral function of the pion is obtained within a selfconsistent scheme of coupled Dyson equations where the coupling to the nucleon and the Δ(1232)-isobar resonance is taken into account. The selfenergies are determined using a two-particle irreducible (2PI) truncation scheme (Φ-derivable approximation) supplemented by Migdal's short range correlations for the particle–hole excitations. The so obtained spectral function of the pion is then used to calculate the in-medium changes of the vector-meson spectral functions. With increasing density and temperature a strong interplay of both vector-meson modes is observed. The four-transversality of the polarisation tensors of the vector-mesons is achieved by a projector technique. The resulting spectral functions of both vector-mesons and, through vector dominance, the implications of our results on the dilepton spectra are studied in their dependence on density and temperature.  相似文献

Based on the fully dressed confining quark propagator, the pion decay constant fπ, local quark vacuum condensate, and the masses of light quarks and in-medium Goldstone bosons are investigated. The pion decay constant fπ is predicted and compared with its value of experimental measurement. A great agreement is obtained. With the predicted fπ and values of Goldstone boson masses measured by experiments in free configuration the current masses of light quarks and the masses of in-medium Goldstone bosons are obtained.  相似文献

The equations of in-medium gluodynamics are proposed. Their classical lowest-order solution is explicitly shown for a color charge moving with constant speed. For chromopermittivity larger than 1 it describes emission of Cherenkov gluons resembling results of classical electrodynamics. The values of the real and imaginary parts of the chromopermittivity are obtained from the fits to experimental data on the double-humped structure around the away-side jet obtained at RHIC. The dispersion of the chromopermittivity is predicted by comparing the RHIC, SPS, and cosmic-ray data. This is important for LHC experiments. Cherenkov gluons may be responsible for the asymmetry of dilepton mass spectra near ρ meson observed in the SPS experiment with excess in the low-mass wing of the resonance. This feature is predicted to be common for all resonances. The “color rainbow” quantum effect might appear according to higher-order terms of in-medium QCD if the chromopermittivity depends on color.  相似文献

Charmonium production in heavy-ion collisions is investigated within a kinetic theory framework incorporating in-medium properties of open- and hidden-charm states in line with recent QCD lattice calculations. A continuously decreasing open-charm threshold across the phase boundary of hadronic and quark-gluon matter is found to have important implications for the equilibrium abundance of charmonium states. The survival of J/psi resonance states above the transition temperature enables their recreation also in the quark-gluon plasma. Including effects of chemical and thermal off-equilibrium, we compare our model results to available experimental data at CERN SPS and BNL RHIC energies. In particular, earlier found discrepancies in the psi(')/psi ratio can be resolved.  相似文献

The properties of-mesons in dense nuclear matter are studied in a model which satisfies unitarity and current conservation. The important coupling of the-meson to two pions as well as the strong mixing of pions and delta-nucleon-hole states in nuclear matter are included. The-meson self energy in nuclear matter is evaluated with in-medium pion propagators and the corresponding vertex corrections required by current conservation. We find that the-meson width grows drastically with increasing density while its mass remains almost unchanged.  相似文献

We study the mechanism and probability of in-medium hadronization in the deconfined medium produced in heavy-ion collisions at RHIC and LHC. We show the likelihood of color-neutral objects to be formed inside the partonic fireball and the probability of these states to escape the medium with reduced interaction strength and energy loss. We will suggest specific measurements that are sensitive to the early degrees of freedom and show predictions for these measurements at RHIC and the LHC.  相似文献

We present our results on neutral pion (π0) production in pp and dAu collisions at RHIC energy. Pion spectra are calculated in a next-to-leading order (NLO) perturbative QCD-based model. The model includes the transverse component of the initial parton distribution (“intrinsic kT”). We compare our results to the available experimental data from RHIC, and fit the data with high precision. The calculation tuned this way is repeated for the dAu collision, and used to investigate the interplay of shadowing and multiple scattering at RHIC. The centrality dependence of the nuclear modification factor shows a measurable difference between different shadowing parameterizations.  相似文献

The theory of thermal photon and dilepton emission from a hot and dense hadronic gas, as well as from the Quark-Gluon Plasma, is reviewed in the context of extracting in-medium properties of the matter constituents. In phenomenological applications to ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions we focus on recent photon and dilepton spectra as measured by WA98 and CERES/NA45, respectively, at CERN-SPS energies.  相似文献

Differences in the photoproduction of mesons on the free proton and on nuclei are expected to reveal changes in the properties of hadrons. Inclusive studies of nuclear photoabsorption have provided evidence of medium modifications. However, the results have not been explained in a model independent way. A deeper understanding of the situation is anticipated from a detailed experimental study of meson photoproduction from nuclei in exclusive reactions. In the energy regime above the Δ(1232) resonance, the dominant double pion production channels are of particular interest. Double pion photoproduction from nuclei is also used to investigate the in-medium modification of meson-meson interactions  相似文献

The first measurements of xF-dependent single-spin asymmetries of identified charged hadrons, pi+/-, K+/-, and protons, from transversely polarized proton-proton collisions at 62.4 GeV at RHIC are presented. Large asymmetries are seen in the pion and kaon channels. The asymmetries in inclusive pi+ production, AN(pi+), increase with xF from 0 to approximately 0.25 and AN(pi-) decrease from 0 to approximately -0.4. Observed asymmetries for K- unexpectedly show positive values similar to those for K+, increasing with xF, whereas proton asymmetries are consistent with zero over the measured kinematic range. Comparisons of the data with predictions of QCD-based models are presented.  相似文献
