We calculate the standard model predictions for top quark pair production and decay into six fermions at a linear e+e- collider. We include the factorizable electroweak $\mathcal{O}(\alpha)$ corrections in the pole approximation and QED corrections due to the initial state radiation in the structure function approach. The effects of the radiative corrections on the predictions are illustrated by showing numerical results for two selected six-fermion reactions $e^+e^-\rightarrow b\nu_{\mu}\mu^+\bar{b}\mu^-\bar{\nu}_\mu$ and $e^+e^-\rightarrow b\nu_{\mu}\mu^+\bar{b}d\bar{u}$ .  相似文献

We calculate the O(αs) radiative corrections to polarized top quark decay into a charged Higgs boson and a massive bottom quark in two variants of the two-Higgs-doublet model. The radiative corrections to the polarization asymmetry of the decay may become as large as 25%. We provide analytical formulae for the unpolarized and polarized rates for mb≠0 and for mb=0. For mb=0 our closed-form expressions for the unpolarized and polarized rates become rather compact. PACS 12.38.Bx; 13.88.+e; 14.65.Ha; 14.80.Cp  相似文献

We present the results of a search for pair production of a fourth-generation charge -1 / 3 quark (b(')) in sqrt[s] = 1.8 TeV p&pmacr; collisions using 88 pb(-1) of data obtained with the Collider Detector at Fermilab. We assume that both quarks decay via the flavor-changing neutral current process b(')-->bZ(0) and that the b(') mass is greater than m(Z)+m(b). We studied the decay mode b(')b(');-->Z(0)Z(0)b&bmacr; where one Z0 decays into e(+)e(-) or &mgr;(+)&mgr;(-) and the other decays hadronically, giving a signature of two leptons plus jets. An upper limit on the sigma(p&pmacr;-->b(')b(');)x[B(b(')-->bZ(0))](2) is established as a function of the b(') mass. We exclude at 95% confidence level a b(') quark with mass between 100 and 199 GeV/c(2) for B(b(')-->bZ(0)) = 100%.  相似文献

Quantum chromodynamics (QCD) effects in the semileptonic decay b-->clnu are evaluated to the second order in the coupling constant, O(alpha(s){2}), and to several orders in the expansion in quark masses, m{c}/m{b}. Corrections are calculated for the total decay rate as well as for the first two moments of the lepton energy and the hadron system energy distributions. Translated into QED and applied to the muon decay, they decrease its predicted rate by -0.43 ppm.  相似文献

We compute, for the first time, the absorptive part of the massless correlator of two quark scalar currents in five loops. As physical applications, we consider the [symbol: see text](alpha(s)4) corrections to the decay rate of the standard model Higgs boson into quarks, as well as the constraints on the strange quark mass following from QCD sum rules.  相似文献

We propose a new method to extract the light quark mass ratio m(u)/m(d) using the Υ(4S)→h(b)π?(η) bottomonia transitions. The decay amplitudes are dominated by the light quark mass differences, and the corrections from other effects are rather small, allowing for a precise extraction. We also discuss how to reduce the theoretical uncertainty with the help of future experiments. As a by-product, we show that the decay Υ(4S)→h(b)η is expected to be a nice channel for searching for the h(b) state.  相似文献

We compute O(alpha(2)(s)) QCD corrections to the lepton invariant mass spectrum in the decay b-->ulnu(l), relevant for the determination of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element /V(ub)/. Our method can also be used to evaluate moments of the lepton energy distribution with an O(alpha(2)(s)) accuracy. The Abelian part of our result gives the neutrino invariant mass spectrum in the muon decay and, upon integration, the O(alpha(2)) correction to the muon lifetime.  相似文献

We present a precise theoretical prediction for the decay width of the bound state of two electrons and a positron (a negative positronium ion), Gamma(Ps-)=2.087 963(12)/ns. We include O(alpha2) effects of hard virtual photons as well as soft corrections to the wave function and the decay amplitude. An outcome of a large-scale variational calculation, this is the first result for second-order corrections to a decay of a three-particle bound state. It will be tested experimentally in the new positronium-ion facility in Garching in Germany.  相似文献

In this note radiative corrections to the total hadronic decay rate of the τ-lepton are studied employing perturbative QCD and the operator product expansion. We calculate quadratic quark mass corrections to the decay rate rationR τ to the order0 s 2 m2) and find that they contribute appreciably to the Cabbibo supressed decay modes of the τ-lepton. We also discuss corrections of mass dimensionD=4, where we emphasize the need of a suitable choice of the renormalization scale of the quark and gluon condensates.  相似文献

We calculate the axial couplings of mesons and baryons containing a heavy quark in the static limit using lattice QCD. These couplings determine the leading interactions in heavy hadron chiral perturbation theory and are central quantities in heavy quark physics, as they control strong decay widths and the light quark mass dependence of heavy hadron observables. Our analysis makes use of lattice data at six different pion masses, 227 MeV相似文献

Charmonium \(c\bar c\) and bottomonium \(b\bar b\) are investigated in the framework of a constituent quark model. A scalar confining and a one-gluon exchange (OGE) potential are used in a nonrelativistic reduction to order (p/m)2. Therefore the model includes spin dependent as well as spin independent terms. Their influence on the meson mass spectra and decay widths is analysed. We find that the experimental spectra can be reproduced by using a full model as well as by using a reduced version neglecting the spin independent terms. For both versions we calculate leptonic and radiative decay widths including relativistic corrections for the current operators. We find that for leptonic decays inclusion of all terms of the OGE potential gives better results than the non-relativistic formulas. For radiative transitions relativistic corrections are important.  相似文献

We evaluate all two-body decay modes of the gluino, in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with complex parameters (cMSSM). This constitutes an important step in the cascade decays of SUSY particles at the LHC. The evaluation is based on a full one-loop calculation of all two-body decay channels, also including hard QED and QCD radiation. The dependence of the gluino decay to a scalar quark and a quark on the relevant cMSSM parameters is analyzed numerically. We find sizable contributions to the decay widths and branching ratios. They are, roughly of O(±5%)\mathcal{O}({\pm 5\%)}, but can go up to ±10% or higher, where the pure SUSY QCD contributions alone can give an insufficient approximation to the full one-loop result. Therefore the full corrections are important for the correct interpretation of gluino decays at the LHC. The results will be implemented into the Fortran code FeynHiggs.  相似文献

The top quark, once produced, should be an important window to the electroweak symmetry breaking sector. We compute electroweak radiative corrections to the decay processt→b+W + in order to extract information on the Higgs sector and to fix the background in searches for a possible new physics contribution. The large Yukawa coupling of the top quark induces a new form factor through vertex corrections and causes discrepancy from the tree-level longitudinalW-boson production fraction, but the effect is of order 1% or less form H<1 TeV.  相似文献

Decay widths of quarkonia are determined in a calculation in which the momentum distribution resulting from the localization of the quarks is taken into account. The e+e decay modes of charmonium and upsilon are considered with the momentum-dependent corrections to the well-known van Royen-Weisskopf formula for leptonic widths. The momentum-dependent effects are found to be significant, and amount to approximately a 20% correction. The γη(1440) decay mode is also examined to investigate a decay involving a propagating quark in the bound state. Here the momentum-dependent corrections to the static approximation are very large and suppress the decay widths by well over a factor of 3. Therefore one must exercise caution in using a static approximation.  相似文献

We investigate the semileptonic decays of heavy quarks in the leading non-trivial order in quantum chromodynamics. Effects of gluon corrections and the initial quark Fermi motion on the semileptonic rates and decay distributions are calculated. The resulting lepton energy spectrum for the charm semileptonic decay is compared with data to extract the mass of the charm quark. This is combined with the semileptonic branching ratio to predict the charm-quark lifetime. We find the lepton energy spectrum very stable with respect to gluon corrections. Expected spectra from the semileptonic decays of bottom and top quarks are presented. We also study the semileptonic decay process Q → q?v? + G, involving the emission of a single hard non-collinear gluon. This process should be observable with a branching ratio of a few percent in the decays of top (and heavier) quarks.  相似文献

We report on a search for charge-1/3 third-generation leptoquarks (LQ) produced in pp collisions at square root s =1.96 TeV using the D0 detector at Fermilab. Third-generation leptoquarks are assumed to be produced in pairs and to decay to a tau neutrino and a b quark with branching fraction B. We place upper limits on sigma(pp --> LQLQ)B2 as a function of the leptoquark mass M(LQ). Assuming B=1, we exclude at the 95% confidence level third-generation scalar leptoquarks with M(LQ)<229 GeV.  相似文献

We calculate the forward-backward asymmetries of heavy fermions and of leptons from their semileptonic decay in e+e annihilation. In particular we study the corrections to the lowest-order prediction resulting from intial-state radiation, kinematic effects in heavy quark decay and the role of quark polarization.  相似文献

In the framework of the NRQCD factorization formalism,we calculate the decay rate for the process Υ(1 S) → ccgg to the next-to-leading order(NLO) in the relative velocity v of the b quark in the bottomonium rest frame. We also study the momentum distributions of the charm quark and the charmed-hadron in the decay. The momentum distribution of the charmed-hadron is obtained by convolving the charm quark momentum distribution with a fragmentation function of the charm quark into the hadron. In addition,we fit the nonperturbative NRQCD matrix element v 2 Υ through comparing the theoretical prediction with the measurement from the BaBar collaboration for the decay rate of Υ(1 S) → D + X.In return, taking this matrix element as an input parameter,we predict the decay rates as well as the momentum distributions for a collection of charmed-hadrons in the process Υ(1S) → ccgg → hX.  相似文献

Combining our results for various O(alpha[s]) corrections to the weak radiative B-meson decay, we are able to present the first estimate of the branching ratio at the next-to-next-to-leading order in QCD. We find B(B[over ]-->X[s]gamma)=(3.15+/-0.23) x 10(-4) for Egamma>1.6 GeV in the B[over ]-meson rest frame. The four types of uncertainties:nonperturbative (5%), parametric (3%), higher-order (3%), and m(c)-interpolation ambiguity (3%) have been added in quadrature to obtain the total error.  相似文献

The logarithmically enhanced alpha(3)ln(1/alpha) corrections to the para- and orthopositronium decay widths are calculated in the framework of dimensionally regularized nonrelativistic quantum electrodynamics. In the case of parapositronium, the correction is negative, approximately doubles the effect of the leading logarithmic alpha(3)ln (2)(1/alpha) one, and is comparable to the nonlogarithmic O(alpha(2)) one. As for orthopositronium, the correction is positive and almost cancels the alpha(3)ln (2)(1/alpha) one. The uncertainty in the theoretical prediction for the parapositronium decay width is reduced to 10(-2) &mgr;s(-1).  相似文献
