The mechanism behind the cytoprotective potential of cerium oxide nanoparticles (CeO2 NPs) against cytotoxic nitric oxide (NO) donors and H2O2 is still not clear. Synthesized and characterized CeO2 NPs significantly ameliorated the lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced cytokines IL-1β and TNF-α. The main goal of this study was to determine the capacities of NPs regarding signaling effects that could have occurred due to reactive oxygen species (ROS) and/or NO, since NP-induced ROS/NO did not lead to toxicity in HUVE cells. Concentrations that induced 50% cell death (i.e., IC50s) of two NO donors (DETA-NO; 1250 ± 110 µM and sodium nitroprusside (SNP); 950 ± 89 µM) along with the IC50 of H2O2 (120 ± 7 µM) were utilized to evaluate cytoprotective potential and its underlying mechanism. We determined total ROS (as a collective marker of hydrogen peroxide, superoxide radical (O2•−), hydroxyl radical, etc.) by DCFH-DA and used a O2•− specific probe DHE to decipher prominent ROS. The findings revealed that signaling effects mediated mainly by O2•− and/or NO are responsible for the amelioration of toxicity by CeO2 NPs at 100 µg/mL. The unaltered effect on mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) due to NP exposure and, again, CeO2 NPs-mediated recovery in the loss of MMP due to exogenous NO donors and H2O2 suggested that NP-mediated O2•− production might be extra-mitochondrial. Data on activated glutathione reductase (GR) and unaffected glutathione peroxidase (GPx) activities partially explain the mechanism behind the NP-induced gain in GSH and persistent cytoplasmic ROS. The promoted antioxidant capacity due to non-cytotoxic ROS and/or NO production, rather than inhibition, by CeO2 NP treatment may allow cells to develop the capacity to tolerate exogenously induced toxicity.  相似文献

The oxidation of transition metals such as manganese and copper by dioxygen (O2) is of great interest to chemists and biochemists for fundamental and practical reasons. In this report, the O2 reactivities of 1:1 and 1:2 mixtures of [(TPP)MnII] (1; TPP: Tetraphenylporphyrin) and [(tmpa)CuI(MeCN)]+ (2; TMPA: Tris(2-pyridylmethyl)amine) in 2-methyltetrahydrofuran (MeTHF) are described. Variable-temperature (−110 °C to room temperature) absorption spectroscopic measurements support that, at low temperature, oxygenation of the (TPP)Mn/Cu mixtures leads to rapid formation of a cupric superoxo intermediate, [(tmpa)CuII(O2•–)]+ (3), independent of the presence of the manganese porphyrin complex (1). Complex 3 subsequently reacts with 1 to form a heterobinuclear μ-peroxo species, [(tmpa)CuII–(O22–)–MnIII(TPP)]+ (4; λmax = 443 nm), which thermally converts to a μ-oxo complex, [(tmpa)CuII–O–MnIII(TPP)]+ (5; λmax = 434 and 466 nm), confirmed by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. In the 1:2 (TPP)Mn/Cu mixture, 4 is subsequently attacked by a second equivalent of 3, giving a bis-μ-peroxo species, i.e., [(tmpa)CuII−(O22−)−MnIV(TPP)−(O22−)−CuII(tmpa)]2+ (7; λmax = 420 nm and δpyrrolic = −44.90 ppm). The final decomposition product of the (TPP)Mn/Cu/O2 chemistry in MeTHF is [(TPP)MnIII(MeTHF)2]+ (6), whose X-ray structure is also presented and compared to literature analogs.  相似文献

Sodium 30-tungstopentaphosphate, the so-called Preyssler's anion with a formula of [NaP5W30O110]14– (I) catalyzes the acetylation of alcohols (C n H2n + 1OH, n = 2, 3, 4, 5) with acetic acid. High yield is obtained with I as pure acid or supported on silica. Both homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts are discussed and compared. H14[NaP5W30O110], abbreviated as H14-P5, under homogeneous conditions, as well as supported on silica (heterogeneous conditions) is found to be an excellent catalyst. Our data indicate that, when the ammonium salt of I is employed as the catalyst, the yield increases as the alcohol carbon-chain is increased. This behavior is found to be quite general. The catalysts can be easily recovered and recycled with retention of their initial structure and activity.  相似文献

The crystal structures of (Nh4)11.5K0.5[ Eu(OH2)P5W30O110] ·24 H2O, K5H5 [Eu(OH2)P5W30O110] ·31 H2O, and (NH4)11[U(OH2)P5Wn30O110 ·12 H2O have been determined. In each case, the anion has the overall virtual C5v symmetry previously observed for the sodium derivative, [NaP5W30 110]14- The encrypted Eu3+ and U4+cations lie on the C5 axis, but are displaced further than the Na+ from the equatorial plane defined by the five phosphorus atoms. Only minor differences are observed between the structures of the two salts of the europium derivative, although solutions of these display31P NMR spectra with chemical shifts differing by 10 ppm, provisionally attributed to the effects of protonation of the anion, The most significant feature of the three new structures is the presence of a water molecule within the central cavity and coor-dinated to the Eu3+ or U4+ cation. The coordination spheres of the central cations can therefore be described as monocapped pentagonal antiprisms.  相似文献

This work aimed at improving the water solubility of Ginsenoside (G)-Re by forming an inclusion complex. The solubility parameters of G-Re in alpha (α), beta (β), and gamma (γ) cyclodextrin (CD) were investigated. The phase solubility profiles were all classified as AL-type that indicated the 1:1 stoichiometric relationship with the stability constants Ks which were 22 M−1 (α-CD), 612 M−1 (β-CD), and 14,410 M−1 (γ-CD), respectively. Molecular docking studies confirmed the results of phase solubility with the binding energy of −4.7 (α-CD), −5.10 (β-CD), and −6.70 (γ-CD) kcal/mol, respectively. The inclusion complex (IC) of G-Re was prepared with γ-CD via the water-stirring method followed by freeze-drying. The successful preparation of IC was confirmed by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). In-vivo absorption studies were carried out by LC-MS/MS. Dissolution rate of G-Re was increased 9.27 times after inclusion, and the peak blood concentration was 2.7-fold higher than that of pure G-Re powder. The relative bioavailability calculated from the ratio of Area under the curve AUC0 of the inclusion to pure G-Re powder was 171%. This study offers the first report that describes G-Re’s inclusion into γ-CD, and explored the inclusion complex’s mechanism at the molecular level. The results indicated that the solubility could be significantly improved as well as the bioavailability, implying γ-CD was a very suitable inclusion host for complex preparation of G-Re.  相似文献

The self-assembly of 2,6-diformyl-4-methylphenol (DFMP) and 1-amino-2-propanol (AP)/2-amino-1,3-propanediol (APD) in the presence of copper(II) ions results in the formation of six new supramolecular architectures containing two versatile double Schiff base ligands (H3L and H5L1) with one-, two-, or three-dimensional structures involving diverse nuclearities: tetranuclear [Cu4(HL2−)2(N3)4]·4CH3OH·56H2O (1) and [Cu4(L3−)2(OH)2(H2O)2] (2), dinuclear [Cu2(H3L12−)(N3)(H2O)(NO3)] (3), polynuclear {[Cu2(H3L12−)(H2O)(BF4)(N3)]·H2O}n (4), heptanuclear [Cu7(H3L12−)2(O)2(C6H5CO2)6]·6CH3OH·44H2O (5), and decanuclear [Cu10(H3L12−)4(O)2(OH)2(C6H5CO2)4] (C6H5CO2)2·20H2O (6). X-ray studies have revealed that the basic building block in 1, 3, and 4 is comprised of two copper centers bridged through one μ-phenolate oxygen atom from HL2− or H3L12−, and one μ-1,1-azido (N3) ion and in 2, 5, and 6 by μ-phenoxide oxygen of L3− or H3L12− and μ-O2− or μ3-O2− ions. H-bonding involving coordinated/uncoordinated hydroxy groups of the ligands generates fascinating supramolecular architectures with 1D-single chains (1 and 6), 2D-sheets (3), and 3D-structures (4). In 5, benzoate ions display four different coordination modes, which, in our opinion, is unprecedented and constitutes a new discovery. In 1, 3, and 5, Cu(II) ions in [Cu2] units are antiferromagnetically coupled, with J ranging from −177 to −278 cm−1.  相似文献

A new all inorganic polyoxometalate (POM), which is composed of the [Na(H2O)P5W30O110]14– ({P5W30}) clusters and Tb3+ cations, Na2[Tb4(H2O)28{Na(H2O)P5W30O110}] · 16H2O ( 1 ), was obtained by using hydrothermal method. Its structure was further characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, TG, and PXRD. Compound 1 displays a 2D layered structure formed by {P5W30} clusters and [Tb(H2O)7]3+ linkers. It noteworthy that, eight coordinated sites provided by {P5W30} was very rare. Furthermore, the luminescent property of compound 1 was reported.  相似文献

The heat-driven solid-state transformations of K salts of the Na-encapsulated Preyssler-type phosphotungstates, K14[P5W30O110Na(side)(H2O)] and K14[P5W30O110Na(center)], are reported herein. K14[P5W30O110Na(side)(H2O)] contains one Na+ in one of the side cavities and a coordinating H2O molecule while K14[P5W30O110Na(center)] contains one Na+ in the central cavity. The heating of K14[P5W30O110Na(side)(H2O)] produces [P5W30O110Na(center)]14–, [P5W30O110K(center)]14–, and [P5W30O110K(side)2]13–. [P5W30O110K(center)]14– and [P5W30O110K(side)2]13– contain mono-K+ in the central cavity and di-K+ in both side cavities, respectively. The heating of potassium salt of [P5W30O110Na(center)]14– produces [P5W30O110K(center)]14– and [P5W30O110K(side)2]13–. These results indicate that heating, at 200–500 °C, causes the migrations of Na+ and K+, without the collapse of the molecule. K14[P5W30O110Na(side)(H2O)] was successfully converted to K12Na[P5W30O110K(side)2] by repeated solid-state heating, which was periodically interrupted by dissolution, in H2O, and drying.  相似文献

The formation of lacunar heteropolyanions (HPA): [AsW9O33]9–, [As2W19O67(H2O)]14–, and [As2W20O68(H2O)]10– in aqueous solutions was investigated by Raman spectroscopy at [Na2HAsO3]0 = 0.1, [Na2WO4]0 = 0.9 mol L–1 and pH 9.4–1.6. The [AsW9O33]9– HPA is characterized by the most intense band ns (W=O) at 948 cm–1 retaining its position in the pH range from 8.9 to 7.5. Under these conditions, the equilibrium constant of [AsW9O33]9– formation from H2AsO3 and WO4 2– ions was estimated (logK = 87.0±1.0). The asymmetrical band at 952 cm–1 corresponding to Hx[As2W19O67(H2O)](14–x)– shifts to 960 cm–1 as the pH decreases from 6.5 to 5.5, which is due to the change in HPA protonation. The [As2W20O68(H2O)]10– HPA is formed at pH 3.1—1.6; it is characterized by a band at 972 cm–1.  相似文献

Novel inorganic–organic yolk–shell microspheres based on Preyssler‐type NaP5W30O11014? polyoxometalate and MIL‐101(Cr) metal–organic framework (P5W30/MIL‐101(Cr)) were synthesized by reaction of K12.5Na1.5[NaP5W30O110], Cr(NO3)3·9H2O and terephthalic acid under hydrothermal conditions at 200°C for 24 h. The as‐prepared yolk–shell microspheres were fully characterized using various techniques. All analyses confirmed the incorporation of the Preyssler‐type NaP5W30O11014? polyoxometalate into the three‐dimensional porous MIL‐101(Cr) metal–organic framework. The results revealed that P5W30/MIL‐101(Cr) demonstrated rapid adsorption of cationic methylene blue (MB) and rhodamine B (RhB) with ultrahigh efficiency and capacity, as well as achieving rapid and highly selective adsorption of MB from MB/MO (MO = methyl orange), MB/RhB and MB/RhB/MO mixtures. The P5W30/MIL‐101(Cr) adsorbent not only exhibited a high adsorption capacity of 212 mg g?1, but also could quickly remove 100% of MB from a dye solution of 50 mg l?1 within 8 min. The effects of some key parameters such as adsorbent dosage, initial dye concentration and initial pH on dye adsorption were investigated in detail. The equilibrium adsorption data were better fitted by the Langmuir isotherm. The adsorption kinetics was well modelled using a pseudo‐second‐order model. Also, the inorganic–organic hybrid yolk–shell microspheres could be easily separated from the reaction system and reused up to four times without any change in structure or adsorption ability. The stability and robustness of the adsorbent were confirmed using various techniques.  相似文献

The formation processes of α-Keggin-type [H2W12O40]6− and [H3W12O40]5− complexes were investigated in aqueous WVI (0.05–0.50 M) solutions. The formation of [H2W12O40]6− was ascertained by the appearance of a 183W NMR line at −117 ppm, but no evidence was found for the existence of [H3W12O40]5− in the solution at the accessible pH range. The addition of (CH3)4N+ (Me4N+) to the WVI solution directly precipitated the (Me4N)6[H2W12O40] salt. On the other hand, the addition of the larger Bu4N+ cation precipitates the (Bu4N)4.5H0.5[H3W12O40] salt, because a naked proton formed during the crystallization process or in the solid state may enter into the Keggin shell to produce [H3W12O40]5−. This explanation is based on the fact that [H2W12O40]6− is not spontaneously converted into [H3W12O40]5− in acidified aqueous solution. On the basis of their voltammetric properties, a simple diagnostic criterion was developed to distinguish between [H2W12O40]6− and [H3W12O40]5−.  相似文献

Two unique organic–inorganic hybrid polyoxometalates constructed from Preyssler‐type [Na(H2O)P5W30O110]14? ({P5W30}) subunits and TM/Ln–carboxylate–Ln connectors (TM=transition metal, Ln=lanthanide), KNa7[{Sm6Mn(μ‐H2O)2(OCH2COO)7(H2O)18}{Na(H2O)P5W30O110}] ? 22 H2O ( 1 ) and K4[{Sm4Cu2(gly)2(ox)(H2O)24}{NaP5W30O110}]Cl2 ? 25 H2O ( 2 ; gly=glycine, ox=oxalate) have been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectra, UV/Vis‐NIR spectra, thermogravimetric analyses, power X‐ray diffraction, and single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction. Compound 1 displays one interesting 3D framework built by three types of subunits, {P5W30}, [Sm2Mn(μ‐H2O)2(OCH2COO)2(H2O)5]4+, and [Sm4(OCH2COO)5 (H2O)13]2+, whereas 2 also manifests the other intriguing 3D architecture created by three types of subunits, {P5W30}, [SmCu(gly)(H2O)8]4+, and [Sm2(ox)(H2O)8]4+. To our knowledge, 1 and 2 are the first 3D frameworks that contain {P5W30} units and TM/Ln–carboxylate–Ln connectors. The fluorescent properties of 1 and 2 have been investigated.  相似文献

By reacting [{Cp‴Fe(CO)2}2(µ,η1:1-P4)] (1) with in situ generated phosphenium ions [Ph2P][A] ([A] = [OTf] = [O3SCF3], [PF6]), a mixture of two main products of the composition [{Cp‴Fe(CO)2}2(µ,η1:1-P5(C6H5)2)][PF6] (2a and 3a) could be identified by extensive 31P NMR spectroscopic studies at 193 K. Compound 3a was also characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis, showing the rarely observed bicyclo[2.1.0]pentaphosphapentane unit. At room temperature, the novel compound [{Cp‴Fe}(µ,η4:1-P5Ph2){Cp‴(CO)2Fe}][PF6] (4) is formed by decarbonylation. Reacting 1 with in situ generated diphenyl arsenium ions gives short-lived intermediates at 193 K which disproportionate at room temperature into tetraphenyldiarsine and [{Cp‴Fe(CO)2}441:1:1:1-P8)][OTf]2 (5) containing a tetracyclo[3.3.0.02,7.03,6]octaphosphaoctane ligand.  相似文献

In this study, methanol extracts (MEs) and essential oil (EO) of Angelica purpurascens (Avé-Lall.) Gill obtained from different parts (root, stem, leaf, and seed) were evaluated in terms of antioxidant activity, total phenolics, compositions of phenolic compound, and essential oil with the methods of 2,2-azino-bis(3ethylbenzo-thiazoline-6-sulfonic acid (ABTS•+), 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazil (DPPH•) radical scavenging activities, and ferric reducing/antioxidant power (FRAP), the Folin–Ciocalteu, liquid chromatography−tandem mass spectrometry (LC−MS/MS), and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC−MS), respectively. The root extract of A. purpurascens exhibited the highest ABTS•+, DPPH•, and FRAP activities (IC50: 0.05 ± 0.0001 mg/mL, IC50: 0.06 ± 0.002 mg/mL, 821.04 ± 15.96 µM TEAC (Trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity), respectively). Moreover, EO of A. purpurascens root displayed DPPH• scavenging activity (IC50: 2.95 ± 0.084 mg/mL). The root extract had the highest total phenolic content (438.75 ± 16.39 GAE (gallic acid equivalent), µg/mL)). Twenty compounds were identified by LC−MS/MS. The most abundant phenolics were ferulic acid (244.39 ± 15.64 μg/g extract), benzoic acid (138.18 ± 8.84 μg/g extract), oleuropein (78.04 ± 4.99 μg/g extract), and rutin (31.21 ± 2.00 μg/g extract) in seed, stem, root, and leaf extracts, respectively. According to the GC−MS analysis, the major components were determined as α-bisabolol (22.93%), cubebol (14.39%), α-pinene (11.63%), and α-limonene (9.41%) among 29 compounds. Consequently, the MEs and EO of A. purpurascens can be used as a natural antioxidant source.  相似文献

Two novel copper(II) complexes of formulas {[Cu(4-Hmpz)4][Cu(4-Hmpz)23-ox-κ2O1,O2:κO2′:κO1′)(ClO4)2]}n (1) and {[Cu(3,4,5-Htmpz)4]2[Cu(3,4,5-Htmpz)23-ox-κ2O1,O2:κO2′:κO1′)(H2O)(ClO4)]2[Cu2(3,4,5-Htmpz)4(µ-ox-κ2O1,O2:κ2O2′,O1′)]}(ClO4)4·6H2O (2) have been obtained by using 4-methyl-1H-pyrazole (4-Hmpz) and 3,4,5-trimethyl-1H-pyrazole (3,4,5-Htmpz) as terminal ligands and oxalate (ox) as the polyatomic inverse coordination center. The crystal structure of 1 consists of perchlorate counteranions and cationic copper(II) chains with alternating bis(pyrazole)(µ3-κ2O1,O2:κO2′:κO1′-oxalato)copper(II) and tetrakis(pyrazole)copper(II) fragments. The crystal structure of 2 is made up of perchlorate counteranions and cationic centrosymmetric hexanuclear complexes where an inner tetrakis(pyrazole)(µ-κ2O1,O2:κ2O2′,O1′-oxalato)dicopper(II) entity and two outer mononuclear tetrakis(pyrazole)copper(II) units are linked through two mononuclear aquabis(pyrazole)(µ3-κ2O1,O2:κO2′:κO1′-oxalato)copper(II) units. The magnetic properties of 1 and 2 were investigated in the temperature range 2.0–300 K. Very weak intrachain antiferromagnetic interactions between the copper(II) ions through the µ3-ox-κ2O1,O2:κO2′:κO1′ center occur in 1 [J = −0.42(1) cm−1, the spin Hamiltonian being defined as H = −J∑S1,i · S2,i+1], whereas very weak intramolecular ferromagnetic [J = +0.28(2) cm−1] and strong antiferromagnetic [J’ = −348(2) cm−1] couplings coexist in 2 which are mediated by the µ3-ox-κ2O1,O2:κO2′:κO1′ and µ-ox-κ2O1,O2:κ2O2′,O1′ centers, respectively. The variation in the nature and magnitude of the magnetic coupling for this pair of oxalato-centered inverse copper(II) complexes is discussed in the light of their different structural features, and a comparison with related oxalato-centered inverse copper(II)-pyrazole systems from the literature is carried out.  相似文献

Stability constants (log b101) of Th4+, UO2 2+, NpO2 + and Am3+ with [NaP5W30O110]14- were determined by solvent extraction (m = 0.1M NaCl) and found to be 6.18±0.07, 3.80±0.06, 2.98±0.04, and 5.85±0.05, respectively. The order of stability constants: Th4+>Am3+>UO2 2+>NpO2 + is due to electrostatic repulsion between the actinyl oxygens and oxygens on the polyoxometalate surface. The order of stability constants for metal complexes with [P2W18O62]6- is Th4+>UO2 2+>Eu3+>NpO2 + because the steric repulsion between actinyl oxygens and oxygens on polyoxometalate are less important. Enthalpies of complexation were measured by calorimetric titration of Th4+, UO2 2+, Nd3+ with [NaP5W30O110]14- and [P2W18O62]6-. The results indicate that the conformation and charge distribution of the microscopic surface structures are important factors in the formation of pseudocolloids.  相似文献

The crystal structure and solid-state packing of 4-chloro-5H-1,2,3-dithiazol-5-one and two polymorphs of 4-chloro-5H-1,2,3-dithiazole-5-thione were analyzed and compared to structural data of similar systems. These five-membered S,N-rich heterocycles are planar with considerable bond localization. All three structures demonstrate tight solid-state packing without voids which is attributed to a rich network of short intermolecular electrostatic contacts. These include Sδ+…Nδ−, Sδ+…Oδ−, Sδ+…Clδ− and Sδ+…Sδ− interactions that are well within the sum of their van der Waals radii (∑VDW). B3LYP, BLYP, M06, mPW1PW, PBE and MP2 were employed to calculate their intramolecular geometrical parameters, the Fukui condensed functions to probe their reactivity, the bond order, Bird Index and NICS(1) to establish their aromaticity.  相似文献

Ascorbic acid (AA) has antioxidant properties. However, in the presence of Fe2+/Fe3+ ions and H2O2, it may behave as a pro-oxidant by accelerating and enhancing the formation of hydroxyl radicals (OH). Therefore, in this study we evaluated the effect of AA at concentrations of 1 to 200 µmol/L on OH-induced light emission (at a pH of 7.4 and temperature of 37 °C) from 92.6 µmol/L Fe2+—185.2 µmol/L EGTA (ethylene glycol-bis (β-aminoethyl ether)-N,N,N′,N′-tetraacetic acid)—2.6 mmol/L H2O2, and 92.6 µmol/L Fe3+—185.2 µmol/L EGTA—2.6 mmol/L H2O2 systems. Dehydroascorbic acid (DHAA) at the same range of concentrations served as the reference compound. Light emission was measured with multitube luminometer (AutoLumat Plus LB 953) for 120 s after automatic injection of H2O2. AA at concentrations of 1 to 50 µmol/L and of 1 to 75 µmol/L completely inhibited light emission from Fe2+-EGTA-H2O2 and Fe3+-EGTA-H2O2, respectively. Concentrations of 100 and 200 µmol/L did not affect chemiluminescence of Fe3+-EGTA-H2O2 but tended to increase light emission from Fe2+-EGTA-H2O2. DHAA at concentrations of 1 to 100 µmol/L had no effect on chemiluminescence of both systems. These results indicate that AA at physiological concentrations exhibits strong antioxidant activity in the presence of chelated iron and H2O2.  相似文献

Most of the health benefits derived from cereals are attributed to their bioactive compounds. This study evaluated the levels of the bioactive compounds, and the antioxidant and starch-hydrolyzing enzymes inhibitory properties of six pipeline Striga-resistant yellow-orange maize hybrids (coded AS1828-1, 4, 6, 8, 9, 11) in vitro. The maize hybrids were grown at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Nigeria. The bioactive compounds (total phenolics, tannins, flavonoids, and phytate) levels, antioxidant (DPPH and ABTS•+ scavenging capacity and reducing power) and starch-hydrolyzing enzymes (α-amylase and α-glucosidase) inhibitory activities of the maize hybrids were determined by spectrophotometry. At the same time, carotenoids were quantified using a reverse-phase HPLC system. The ranges of the bioactive compounds were: 11.25–14.14 mg GAE/g (total phenolics), 3.62–4.67 mg QE/g (total flavonoids), 3.63–6.29 mg/g (tannins), 3.66–4.31% (phytate), 8.92–12.11 µg/g (total xanthophylls), 2.42–2.89 µg/g (total β-carotene), and 3.17–3.77 µg/g (total provitamin A carotenoids). Extracts of the maize hybrids scavenged DPPH (SC50: 9.07–26.35 mg/mL) and ABTS•+ (2.65–7.68 TEAC mmol/g), reduced Fe3+ to Fe2+ (0.25 ± 0.64–0.43 ± 0.01 mg GAE/g), and inhibited α-amylase and α-glucosidase, with IC50 ranges of 26.28–52.55 mg/mL and 47.72–63.98 mg/mL, respectively. Among the six clones of the maize hybrids, AS1828-9 had the highest (p < 0.05) levels of tannins and phytate and the strongest antioxidant and starch-hydrolyzing enzymes inhibitory activities. Significant correlations were observed between total phenolics and the following: ABTS•+ (p < 0.01, r = 0.757), DPPH SC50 (p < 0.01, r = −0.867), reducing power (p < 0.05, r = 0.633), α-amylase IC50 (p < 0.01, r = −0.836) and α-glucosidase IC50 (p < 0.05, r = −0.582). Hence, the Striga-resistant yellow-orange maize hybrids (especially AS1828-9) may be beneficial for alleviating oxidative stress and postprandial hyperglycemia.  相似文献
