We study the existence, uniqueness, and asymptotic stability of time periodic traveling wave solutions to a class of periodic advection–reaction–diffusion systems. Under certain conditions, we prove that there exists a maximal wave speed c?c? such that for each wave speed c≤c?cc?, there is a time periodic traveling wave connecting two periodic solutions of the corresponding kinetic system. It is shown that such a traveling wave is unique modulo translation and is monotone with respect to its co-moving frame coordinate. We also show that the traveling wave solutions with wave speed c≤c?cc? are asymptotically stable in certain sense. In addition, we establish the nonexistence of time periodic traveling waves with speed c>c?c>c?.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to the study of traveling fronts of reaction-diffusion equations with periodic advection in the whole plane R2. We are interested in curved fronts satisfying some “conical” conditions at infinity. We prove that there is a minimal speed c such that curved fronts with speed c exist if and only if cc. Moreover, we show that such curved fronts are decreasing in the direction of propagation, that is, they are increasing in time. We also give some results about the asymptotic behaviors of the speed with respect to the advection, diffusion and reaction coefficients.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the spatial dynamics of a nonlocal and time-delayed reaction-diffusion system, which is motivated by an age-structured population model with distributed maturation delay. The spreading speed c*, the existence of traveling waves with the wave speed c?c*, and the nonexistence of traveling waves with c<c* are obtained. It turns out that the spreading speed coincides with the minimal wave speed for monotone traveling waves.  相似文献

A class of integral equations without monotonicity is investigated. It is shown that there is a spreading speed c>0 for such an integral equation, and that its limiting integral equation admits a unique traveling wave (up to translation) with speed c?c and no traveling wave with c<c. These results are also applied to some nonlocal reaction-diffusion population models.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the existence of traveling wave solutions for a class of delayed non-local reaction-diffusion equations without quasi-monotonicity. The approach is based on the construction of two associated auxiliary reaction-diffusion equations with quasi-monotonicity and a profile set in a suitable Banach space by using the traveling wavefronts of the auxiliary equations. Under monostable assumption, by using the Schauder's fixed point theorem, we then show that there exists a constant c>0 such that for each c>c, the equation under consideration admits a traveling wavefront solution with speed c, which is not necessary to be monotonic.  相似文献

We consider in this paper the relativistic Euler equations in isentropic fluids with the equation of state p = κ2ρ, where κ, the sound speed, is a constant less than the speed of light c. We discuss the convergence of the entropy solutions as c→∞. The analysis is based on the geometric properties of nonlinear wave curves and the Glimm’s method.  相似文献

We establish the existence of pulsating type entire solutions of reaction-advection-diffusion equations with monostable nonlinearities in a periodic framework. Here the nonlinearities include the classic KPP case. The pulsating type entire solutions are defined in the whole space and for all time tR. By studying a pulsating traveling front connecting a constant unstable stationary state to a stable stationary state which is allowed to be a positive function, we proved that there exist pulsating type entire solutions behaving as two pulsating traveling fronts coming from both directions, and approaching each other. The key techniques are to characterize the asymptotic behavior of the solutions as t→− in terms of appropriate subsolutions and supersolutions.  相似文献

This paper is considering the problem of traveling wave solutions (TWS) for a susceptible-exposed-infectious-recovered (SEIR) epidemic model with discrete diffusion. The threshold condition for the existence and nonexistence of TWS is obtained. More specifically, such kind of solutions are governed by the threshold number ?0. We can find a critical wave speed c? if ?0 > 1, by employing the Schauder's fixed point theorem, limiting argument and two-sided Laplace transform, we confirm that there exists TWS for c > c?, while there exists no TWS for c < c?. We also obtain the nonexistence of TWS for ?0 ≤ 1. At last, we give some biological explanations from the epidemiological perspective.  相似文献

We consider entire solutions of nonlocal dispersal equations with bistable nonlinearity in one-dimensional spatial domain. A two-dimensional manifold of entire solutions which behave as two traveling wave solutions coming from both directions is established by an increasing traveling wave front with nonzero wave speed. Furthermore, we show that such an entire solution is unique up to space-time translations and Liapunov stable. A key idea is to characterize the asymptotic behaviors of the solutions as t→−∞ in terms of appropriate subsolutions and supersolutions. We have to emphasize that a lack of regularizing effect occurs.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the propagation dynamics for a class of integrodifference competition models in a periodic habitat. An interesting feature of such a system is that multiple spreading speeds can be observed, which biologically means different species may have different spreading speeds. We show that the model system admits a single spreading speed, and it coincides with the minimal wave speed of the spatially periodic traveling waves. A set of sufficient conditions for linear determinacy of the spreading speed is also given.  相似文献

Extending previous results of Oh-Zumbrun and Johnson-Zumbrun, we show that spectral stability implies linearized and nonlinear stability of spatially periodic traveling wave solutions of viscous systems of conservation laws for systems of generic type, removing a restrictive assumption that wave speed be constant to first order along the manifold of nearby periodic solutions. Key to our analysis is a nonlinear cancellation estimate observed by Johnson and Zumbrun, along with a detailed understanding of the Whitham averaged system. The latter motivates a careful analysis of the Bloch perturbation expansion near zero frequency and suggests factoring out an appropriate translational modulation of the underlying wave, allowing us to derive the sharpened low-frequency estimates needed to close the nonlinear iteration arguments.  相似文献

In this paper we study the existence and qualitative properties of traveling waves associated with a nonlinear flux limited partial differential equation coupled to a Fisher–Kolmogorov–Petrovskii–Piskunov type reaction term. We prove the existence and uniqueness of finite speed moving fronts of C2C2 classical regularity, but also the existence of discontinuous entropy traveling wave solutions.  相似文献

We consider a nonlinear diffusion equation on an infinite periodic metric graph. We prove that the terms which are irrelevant w.r.t. linear diffusion on the real line are irrelevant w.r.t. linear diffusion on the periodic metric graph, too. The proof is based on L1‐ estimates combined with Bloch wave analysis for periodic metric graphs.  相似文献

We prove the nonexistence of solutions for a prescribed mean curvature equation when p?1 and the positive parameter λ is small. The result extends theorems of Narukawa and Suzuki, and Finn, from the case of n=2,p=1 to all n?2,p?1. Moreover, our proof is very simple and the result is not limited to positive (and negative) solutions. We also show that a similar result for positive solutions is still true if |u|p−1u is replaced by the exponential nonlinearity eu−1.  相似文献

The theory of asymptotic speeds of spread and monotone traveling waves for monotone semiflows is applied to a multi-type SIS epidemic model to obtain the spreading speed c, and the nonexistence of traveling waves with wave speed c<c. Then the method of upper and lower solutions is used to establish the existence of monotone traveling waves connecting the disease-free and endemic equilibria for c?c. This shows that the spreading speed coincides with the minimum wave speed for monotone traveling waves. We also give an affirmative answer to an open problem presented by Rass and Radcliffe [L. Rass, J. Radcliffe, Spatial Deterministic Epidemics, Math. Surveys Monogr. 102, Amer. Math. Soc., Providence, RI, 2003].  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the dynamics of an infinite-dimensional gradient system under small almost periodic perturbations. Under the assumption that the original autonomous system has a global attractor given as the union of unstable manifolds of a finite number of hyperbolic equilibrium solutions, we prove that the perturbed non-autonomous system has exactly the same number of almost periodic solutions. As a consequence, the pullback attractor of the perturbed system is given by the union of unstable manifolds of these finitely many almost periodic solutions. An application of the result to the Chafee–Infante equation is discussed.  相似文献

For a reaction-diffusion system that serves as a 2-species Lotka-Volterra diffusive competition model, suppose that the corresponding reaction system has one stable boundary equilibrium and one unstable boundary equilibrium. Then it is well known that there exists a positive number c?, called the minimum wave speed, such that, for each c larger than or equal to c?, the reaction-diffusion system has a positive traveling wave solution of wave speed c connecting these two equilibria if and only if c?c?. It has been shown that the minimum wave speed for this system is identical to another important quantity - the asymptotical speed of population spread towards the stable equilibrium. Hence to find the minimum wave speed c? not only is of the interest in mathematics but is of the importance in application. It has been conjectured that the minimum wave speed can be determined by studying the eigenvalues of the unstable equilibrium, called the linear determinacy. In this paper we will show that the conjecture on the linear determinacy is not true in general.  相似文献

We study the traveling waves for a lattice dynamical system with monostable nonlinearity in periodic media. It is well known that there exists a minimal wave speed such that a traveling wave exists if and only if the wave speed is above this minimal wave speed. In this paper, we first derive a stability theorem for certain waves of non-minimal speed. Moreover, we show that wave profiles of a given speed are unique up to translations.  相似文献

In this paper, we study a system of elliptic equations in R2 which arises from the self-dual equations for the Abelian Chern–Simons system with two Higgs fields and two gauge fields. We provide a new proof for the existence of topological solutions by constructing explicit supersolutions and subsolutions. We also study the asymptotic behavior of condensate solutions on the torus. It is shown that the maximal solutions converge uniformly to zero away from the vortex points, and the convergence rate is computed.  相似文献
