Three amphiphilic poly(oxyethylene)-poly(oxypropylene)-poly(oxyethylene) ethers triblock copolymers, denoted Pluronic L61 (PEO3PPO30PEO3), Pluronic L64 (PEO13PPO30PEO13), and Pluronic F68 (PEO79PPO30PEO79) were shown to aggregate and form micelles in ionic liquids (ILs) 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (bmimBF4) and 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate (bmimPF6). The surface tension measurements revealed that the dissolution of the copolymers in ILs depressed the surface tension in a manner analogous to aqueous solutions. The cmcs of three triblock copolymers increase following the order of L61, L64, F68, suggesting that micellar formation was driven by solvatophobic effect. cmc and gamma cmc decrease with increasing temperature because hydrogen bonds between ILs and hydrophilic group of copolymers decrease and accordingly enhance the solvatophobic interaction. Micellar droplets of irregular shape with average size of 50 nm were observed. The thermodynamic parameters DeltaGm0, DeltaHm0, DeltaSm0 of the micellization of block copolymers in bmimBF4 and bmimPF6 were also calculated. It was revealed that the micellization is a process of entropy driving, which was further confirmed by isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) measurements.  相似文献

Ionic liquids (ILs), 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (bmimBF4), were substituted for polar water and formed nonaqueous microemulsions with toluene by the aid of nonionic surfactant TX-100. The phase behavior of the ternary system was investigated, and microregions of bmimBF4-in-toluene (IL/O), bicontinuous, and toluene-in-bmimBF4 (O/IL) were identified by traditional electrical conductivity measurements. Dynamic light scattering (DLS) revealed the formation of the IL microemulsions. The micropolarities of the IL/O microemulsions were investigated by the UV-vis spectroscopy using the methyl orange (MO) and methylene blue (MB) as absorption probes. The results indicated that the polarity of the IL/O microemulsion increased only before the IL pools were formed, whereas a relatively fixed polar microenvironment was obtained in the IL pools of the microemulsions. Moreover, UV-vis spectroscopy has also shown that ionic salt compounds such as Ni(NO3)2, CoCl2, CuCl2, and biochemical reagent riboflavin could be solubilized into the IL/O microemulsion droplets, indicating that the IL/O microemulsions have potential application in the production of metallic or semiconductor nanomaterials, and in biological extractions or as solvents for enzymatic reactions. The IL/O microemulsions may have some expected effects due to the unique features of ILs and microemulsions.  相似文献

Microwave-assisted separation has been applied to recover ionic liquid (IL) from its aqueous solution as an efficient method with respect to time and energy compared to the conventional vacuum distillation. Hydrophilic ILs such as 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([Bmim][BF(4)]), 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium trifluoromethanesulfonate ([Bmim][TfO]) and 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium methylsulfate ([Emim][MS]) could be recovered in 6 min from the mixture of ILs and water (1:1, w/w) under microwave irradiation at constant power of 10 W while it took at least 240 min to obtain ILs containing same water content (less than 0.5 wt%) by conventional vacuum oven at 363.15 K with 90 kPa of vacuum pressure. Energy consumptions per gram of evaporated water from the homogeneous mixture of hydrophilic ILs and water (1:1, w/w) by microwave-assisted separation were at least 52 times more efficient than those in conventional vacuum oven. It demonstrated that microwave-assisted separation could be used for complete recovery of ILs in sense of time and energy as well as relevant purity.  相似文献

<正>Silver nanorods have been successfully synthesized in large scale by the ethylene glycol(EG) reduction in the presence of ionic liquid(IL) 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate(bmimBF_4) and polyvinyl-pyrrolidone(PVP).The silver nanorods were characterized by scanning electron microscopy(SEM),high-resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),electron energy disperse spectroscopy(EDS) and UV-vis spectroscopy. The results showed that the uniform silver nanorods have an average diameter of about 100 nm and the aspect ratio from 15 to 20.IL,bmimBF_4 may play a role of capping agent together with PVP in the formation of silver nanorods. On the other band,bmimBF_4 may accelerate nucleation and improve the stability of the resulting Ag nanorods due to the low interface tension of IL.  相似文献

The use of 3-methylimidazolium cation-based ionic liquids (ILs) was evaluated as mobile phase additives for separation of antiretroviral drugs on a monolithic column by RP-HPLC. Separation of eight commonly used antiretroviral drugs was achieved on a Chromolith Flash, RP-18e column (25 × 4.6 mm, porous material) using water (pH 4.0 adjusted with acetic acid)/methanol v/v as a mobile phase containing ILs in a gradient elution mode. The effects of concentrations of ILs on retention, resolution and peak shape were studied and a regression equation correlating the interactions between stationary phase and the ILs was established. The retention of all the drugs was decreased notably by using 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate, while 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium methylsulfate reduced gradient drift drastically when compared to triethylamine.  相似文献

The ionic liquid (IL) 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (bmimBF4) can form nonaqueous microemulsions with benzene by the aid of nonionic surfactant TX-100. The effect of water on ionic liquid-in-oil (IL/O) microemulsions was studied, and it was shown that the addition of small amount of water to the IL microemulsion contributed to the stability of microemulsion and thus increased the amount of solubilized bmimBF4 in the microemulsion. The conductivity measurements also showed that the attractive interactions between IL microdroplets were weakened, that is, the IL/O microemulsion becomes more stable in the present of some water. Fourier transform IR was carried out to analyze the states of the added water, and the result showed that these water molecules mainly behaved as bound water and trapped water, indicating that the water molecules are located in the palisade layers of the IL/O microemulsion. Furthermore, 1H NMR and 19F NMR spectra suggested that the added water molecules built the hydrogen binding network of imidazolium cations and H2O, BF4- anion and H2O, and at the same time the electronegative oxygen atoms of the oxyethylene units of TX-100 and water in the palisade layers, which made the palisade layers more firm and thus increased the stability of the microemulsion. The study can help in further understanding the formation mechanism of microemulsions. In addition, the characteristic solubilization behavior of the added water can provide an aqueous interface film for hydrolysis reactions and therefore may be used as an ideal medium to prepare porous or hollow nanomaterials.  相似文献

We studied the aggregation behavior of two short-chain room-temperature ionic liquids. Previous surface tension studies have shown that 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (bmimBF(4)) aggregates in water. We observed the same behavior for another ionic liquid, 1-butyl-2,3-dimethylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (bdmimBF(4)). We carried out a thermodynamic study of the mixtures between water and the two butylimidazolium salts to investigate this unusual behavior for cations with short chains by determining the surface thermal coefficient, b(T,P). Plotting b(T,P) as a function of the molar fraction (X) of the two salts showed a clear discontinuity at X = 0.016 for bmimBF(4) and X = 0.004 for bdmimBF(4). This discontinuity could be attributed to a transition such as an aggregation.  相似文献

Although colorless ionic liquids (ILs) are most desirable, as synthesized they frequently bear color, despite appearing pure by most analytical techniques. It leads to some uncertainties and limits for the fundamental research and applications of ILs, such as spectroscopy. Using 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide (BMIMBr), 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (BMIMBF4) and 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide (HMIMBr) as models, we demonstrated that following classic preparing method except that the water was added as solvent, colorless ILs could be facilely prepared. Neither critical pre-treatment of starting materials and pre-cautions during the reaction nor time-consuming and costly post-decolor-purification was needed. The effects of “on water” reaction conditions on preparing colorless IL and the reason why using water as solvent could produce colorless ILs were also preliminary investigated. It was found that the reactant solubility played an important role in the preparation of colorless ILs. Not only as a method to evaluate the quality of as-synthesized ILs, but also as a spectroscopic analytical applications, UV-vis spectra showed that the ILs by this “on water” method was spectral pure and sufficient for future fundamental spectroscopic research and applications.  相似文献

Nonaqueous ionic liquid (IL) microemulsion consisting of IL, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (bmimBF(4)), surfactant TX-100, and toluene was prepared and the phase behavior of the ternary system was investigated. Electrical conductivity measurement was used for investigating the microregions of the nonaqueous IL microemulsions. On the basis of the percolation theory, the bmimBF(4)-in-toluene (IL/O), bicontinuous, and toluene-in-bmimBF(4) (O/IL) microregions of the microemulsions were successfully identified using insulative toluene as the titration phase. However, this method was invalid when conductive bmimBF(4) acted as the titration phase. The microregions obtained by conductivity measurements were further proved by electrochemical cyclic voltammetry experiments. The results indicated that the conductivity method was feasible for identifying microstructures of the nonaqueous IL microemulsions.  相似文献

We demonstrate a novel ionic liquid (IL) microemulsion, consisting of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (bmimBF4) and nonionic surfactant Triton X-100 prepared in triethylamine which is used either as an organic solvent or a Lewis base. The effects of small amounts of added water on the microstructure of the IL microemulsion are investigated by various techniques. UV/Vis spectroscopic analysis and FTIR spectra indicate that these water molecules are not solubilized into the IL pools of the microemulsions. 1H NMR spectra further show that the added water binds with triethylamine to form a surrounding OH- base environment. Some of OH- ions enter the palisade layers of the IL microemulsions and a continuous base interface is created. The unique solubilization behavior of water reveals that it is possible to use the triethylamine microemulsions as a template to prepare metal hydroxides as well as metal oxides in the microemulsions, which is not possible when using traditional microemulsions.  相似文献

The formation of vesicles from 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphatidylcholine (DPPC) in several room-temperature ionic liquids, namely, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (BmimBF(4)), 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate (BmimPF(6)), 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide (EmimNTf(2)), and N-benzylpyridinium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide (BnPyNTf(2)), as well as in a water/BmimBF(4) mixture, was investigated. In pure ionic liquids, observations by staining transmission electron microscopy demonstrated clearly the formation of spherical structures with diameters of 200-400 nm. The morphological characteristics of these vesicles in ionic liquids, in particular, the membrane thicknesses, were first investigated by small-angle neutron scattering measurements. The mean bilayer thickness was found to be ~63 ± 1 ? in a deuterated ionic liquid (BnPyNTf(2)-d). This value was similar to that observed in water. The effect of ILs on the modification of the phase physical properties of multilamellar vesicles (MLVs) was then investigated by differential scanning calorimetry. In pure IL as in water, DPPC exhibited an endothermic pretransition followed by the main transition. These transition temperatures and the associated enthalpies in ILs were higher than those in water because of a reduction of the electrostatic repulsion between zwitterionic head groups. To better understand the effect of ionic liquid on the formation of multilamellar vesicles, mixtures of BmimBF(4) and water, which are miscible in all proportions, were analyzed (BmimBF(4)/water ratio from 0% to 100%). SANS and DSC experiments demonstrated that the bilayer structure and stability were strongly modified by the IL content. Moreover, matching SANS experiments showed that BmimBF(4) molecules prefer to be located inside the DPPC membrane rather than in water.  相似文献

Far-infrared spectra in the range from 600 to 20 cm-1 of two hydrophilic (1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate and 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate) and one hydrophobic (1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate) ionic liquids and their mixtures with water at different concentrations are reported. Shifts of the librational water bands depending on the nature of the anion are found to be related to the strength of the interaction between the water molecules and the anions. For both hydrophilic ionic liquids, the librational band is centered around 460 cm-1, whereas for the hydrophobic ionic liquid, it is shifted to 388 cm-1, indicating less hindered rotation of single water molecules. Multivariate curve resolution, paying special attention to the spectral range from 50 to 350 cm-1, was used to investigate the presence of different species with increasing water concentration. For both hydrophilic ionic liquids, a band located at 153 cm-1 was resolved into two different contributions. A small contribution at 202 cm-1 can be attributed to intermolecular interactions between water molecules forming dimers. The major contribution (centered at 148 cm-1) corresponds to water molecules that do not bond to each other via H-bonding. It is therefore assigned to a hindered translation arising from the stretching of the hydrogen bond between BF4- anions and water molecules. Formation of water dimers in the hydrophobic ionic liquid does not occur. Furthermore, the spectral contribution of the stretching of H-bonds between water molecules and PF6- cannot be unambiguously detected, which indicates an extremely weak interaction between water molecules and this anion.  相似文献

Summary: In recent years, an important class of new compounds, ionic liquids (ILs), has been investigated as additives for polymers. In this work, we carried out the synthesis of 4 different ILs: 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (BMIM.BF4), 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate (BMIM.PF6), and the chiral ILs acetyl-(−)menthol-1-buthylimidazole tetrafluoroborate ([amebim]BF4) and acetyl-(−)menthol-1-buthylimidazole hexafluorophosphate ([amebim]PF6). These ILs were added to poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) in 10, 20 and 30% ratios by weight and the ILs, PMMA and the obtained materials (PMMA:ILs) were characterized by infrared, visible spectroscopy and atomic force microscope. The ILs added to PMMA did not provide significant changes in the infrared spectra, compared to pure PMMA. However, the absorption spectra in the visible region of the PMMA:ILs materials showed differences, compared to the spectrum of pure PMMA.  相似文献

Mixtures of ionic liquid (IL, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate, [BMIM][BF4]) and water with varying concentrations were studied by attenuated total reflection infrared absorption and Raman spectroscopy. Changes in the peak intensities and peak positions of CHx (x = 1, 2, 3) vibration modes of the cation of the IL and OH vibration modes of the water molecules were investigated. Peaks from normal-mode stretch vibrations of CH bonds belonging to the imidazolium ring of the cation did not change their positions, while those from the terminal methyl group of the butyl chain blueshifted by approximately 10 cm-1 with the addition of water. On the other hand, change in the spectral shape in the OH stretch vibration region shows hydrogen-bonding network of water molecules breaking down rapidly as the IL is added. Trends in the change of the peak positions and the peak intensities suggested qualitative change of the intermolecular structure in the [BMIM][BF4] + H2O mixture at 32 +/- 2 and 45 +/- 2 mol/L of water concentration.  相似文献

Mesoporous silica materials were synthesized via a sol-gel method employing a room temperature ionic liquid (1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate, bmimBF4) as a new solvent medium and further modified with surfactant (hexadecyl-trimethyl-ammonium bromide, CTAB) as a pore templating material. The synthesized samples were characterized by the transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and N2 adsorption-desorption techniques. The results indicated that the mesoporous silica synthesized by using bmimBF4 and CTAB as mixed templates showed better mesostructural order and smaller pore size, compared with mesoporous silica materials synthesized by using single bmimBF4 as template under the same conditions. This indicates that the presence of surfactant can affect the microstructures of silica prepared by the present synthesis method.  相似文献

The J-aggregation behavior of diprotonated tetrakis(4-sulfonatophenyl)porphyrin (H2TPPS4(2-)) in aqueous solution in the presence of the hydrophilic ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (bmimBF4) was investigated in detail using UV-vis absorption spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, resonance light scattering (RLS) spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. With the addition of bmimBF4, increasing peaks appeared at a wavelength of 490 nm in the absorption spectra to account for the formation of H 2TPPS4(2-) J-aggregates. In addition, the experimental results also showed decreased fluorescence emission, enhanced RLS signals, intensified Raman scattering peaks, and the disappearance of NMR signals to further indicate that porphyrin J-aggregates exist in the studied system. NMR shifts of bmimBF 4 toward high field occurred corresponding to H2, H4, and H5 in the cationic imidazolium ring (bmim+), suggesting that bmim+ enters the magnetic shielding domain of the anionic phenyl sulfonate ion owing to the association process between the "large" cation and anion. Additionally, the fact that the absorption spectral shifts occurred in the nonprotonated porphyrin TPPS4(4-) further indicates the existence of the ion association effect of bmim+, which functions as an important factor in porphyrin aggregation.  相似文献

The aggregation behavior of long-chain ionic liquids 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide (C(n)mimBr) in another ionic liquid, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (bmimBF(4)), was studied for the first time. Surface tension measurements revealed that aggregates are formed by C(n)mimBr, and freeze fracture transmission electron microscopy (FF-TEM) observations suggested the aggregates are spheres with a size much larger than traditional micelles. The sizes of the aggregates were further confirmed by dynamic light scattering (DLS) measurements.  相似文献

The ionic liquid (IL) 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (bmimBF4) forms nonaqueous microemulsions with p-xylene, with the aid of the nonionic surfactant TX-100. The phase behavior of the ternary system is investigated, and three microregions of the microemulsions-ionic liquid-in-oil (IL/O), bicontinuous, and oil-in-ionic liquid (O/IL)-are identified by conductivity measurements, according to percolation theory. On the basis of a phase diagram, a series of IL/O microemulsions are chosen and characterized by dynamic light scattering (DLS). The size of aggregates increases on increasing the amount of added polar component (bmimBF(4)), which is a similar phenomenon to that observed for typical water-in-oil (W/O) microemulsions, suggesting the formation of IL/O microemulsions. The microstructural characteristics of the microemulsions are investigated by FTIR and 1H NMR spectroscopy. The results indicate that the interaction between the electronegative oxygen atoms of the oxyethylene (OE) units in TX-100 and the electropositive imidazolium ring may be the driving force for the solubilization of bmimBF4 into the core of the TX-100 aggregates. In addition, the micropolarity of the microemulsions is investigated by using methyl orange (MO) as a UV/Vis spectroscopic probe. A relatively constant polarity of the microemulsion droplets is obtained in the IL microemulsion. Finally, a plausible structure for the IL/O microemulsion is presented.  相似文献

Self aggregation of the ionic liquids, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride [C4mim][Cl], 3-methyl-1-octylimidazolium chloride [C8mim][Cl], 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate [C4mim][BF4], N-butyl-3-methylpyridinium chloride [C4mpy][Cl], in aqueous solution has been investigated through 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and steady-state fluorescence spectroscopy. Aggregation properties were determined by application of mass action theory to the concentration dependence of 1H NMR chemical shifts. Aggregation properties showed fairly good agreement with the previously reported results obtained from small angle neutron scattering, conductivity, and surface tension measurements. A detailed analysis of chemical shifts of water and various protons in ILs has been employed to probe the aggregate structure. Fluorescence spectroscopy provided important information about the critical aggregation concentration (cac) and the microenvironment of the aggregates. We could also observe a break point quite consistent with that of 1H NMR and fluorescence spectroscopy at cac from the concentration dependence of refractive index measurements. Standard free energies of aggregation DeltaGom of various ILs derived using the refractive index/concentration profiles were found comparable to those of classical ionic surfactants.  相似文献

We compare how (i) four ionic liquids (ILs) (1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([C4mim][BF4]), 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide ([C4mim][Tf2N]), 1-butyl-1-methylpyrrolidinium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide ([C4mpy][Tf2N]), and trihexyltetradecylphosphonium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide ([P(C6)3C14][Tf2N])) and (ii) two conventional molecular liquids (methanol and 1-octanol) solvate/wet luminescent organic moieties that are covalently attached to the surface of silica controlled pore glass (CPG). A series of aminopropyl CPG particles that have been covalently tagged with the solvatochromic fluorescent probe group dansyl were used in this study. The results demonstrate that ILs solvate/wet the silica surface differently in comparison to molecular liquids (MLs). Specifically, when comparing ILs and MLs that appear to solvate the free probe, dansylpropylsulfonamide (DPSA), equally in solution, we find that ILs do not solvate/wet the silica surfaces as well as the corresponding MLs. The cation component in these ILs is the significant factor in how the ILs solvate/wet silica surfaces. Solvation/wetting of surface-bound species at a silica surface depends on the cation size. Chlorosilane end-capping of the surface silanol and amine residues attenuates the cation's affects.  相似文献
