In this paper are suggested new formulas for representation of matrices and their inverses in the form of sums of products of factor circulants, which are based on the analysis of the factor cyclic displacement of matrices. The results in applications to Toeplitz matrices generalized the Gohberg-Semencul, Ben-Artzi-Shalom and Heinig-Rost formulas and are useful for complexity analysis.  相似文献

In this paper we use Bartle’s technique to study duality between a topological space and a function space. Normally such a duality forms an essential part of Functional Analysis. We introduce several new topologies such as the topology of even convergence Te, the closed-cocompact topology Tk, the (strong) local proximal convergence. We explore the topological groups of self-homeomorphisms of a topological space and shed light on the earlier work of Arens, Dieudonné, Di Concilio. We also study the concepts such as evenly equidistant, functionally equicontinuous, due to Bouziad-Troallic and topologically equicontinuous due to Royden. In this paper the problem of exponential stability of the zero state equilibrium of a discrete-time time-varying linear equation described by a sequence of linear positive operators acting on an ordered finite dimensional Hilbert space is investigated. The class of linear equations considered in this paper contains as particular cases linear equations described by Lyapunov operators or symmetric Stein operators as well as nonsymmetric Stein operators. Such equations occur in connection with the problem of mean square exponential stability for a class of difference stochastic equations affected by independent random perturbations and Markovian jumping as well us in connection with some iterative procedures which allow us to compute global solutions of discrete time generalized symmetric or nonsymmetric Riccati equations. The exponential stability is characterized in terms of the existence of some globally defined and bounded solutions of some suitable backward affine equations (inequalities) or forward affine equations (inequalities).  相似文献

Let Ω be an open connected subset of for which the imbedding of the Sobolev space W 1,2(Ω) into the space L 2(Ω) is compact. We consider the Neumann eigenvalue problem for the Laplace operator in the open subset (Ω) of , where is a Lipschitz continuous homeomorphism of Ω onto (Ω). Then we prove a result of real analytic dependence for symmetric functions of the eigenvalues upon variation of . This paper represents an extension of a part of the work performed by P.D. Within the class of Tychonoff spaces, and within the class of topological groups, most of the natural questions concerning ‘productive closure’ of the subclasses of countably compact and pseudocompact spaces are answered by the following three well-known results: (1) [ZFC] There is a countably compact Tychonoff space X such that X × X is not pseudocompact; (2) [ZFC] The product of any set of pseudocompact topological groups is pseudocompact; and (3) [ZFC+ MA] There are countably compact topological groups G0, G1 such that G0 × G1 is not countably compact.In this paper we consider the question of ‘productive closure” in the intermediate class of homogeneous spaces. Our principal result, whose proof leans heavily on a simple, elegant result of V.V. Uspenski?, is this: In ZFC there are pseudocompact, homogeneous spaces X0, X1 such that X0 × X1 is not pseudocompact; if in addition MA is assumed, the spaces Xi may be chosen countably compact.Our construction yields an unexpected corollary in a different direction: Every compact space embeds as a retract in a countably compact, homogeneous space. Thus for every cardinal number α there is a countably compact, homogeneous space whose Souslin number exceeds α.  相似文献

Some ways to obtain upper and lower bounds for measures of noncompactness of retractions onto spheres in infinite-dimensional normed spaces are discussed. Moreover, relations with 0-epi maps are revealed and the extension of condensing maps on spheres is discussed. As an application, some results of Birkhoff-Kellog type and Nussbaum's fixed point theorem on spheres are obtained.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with algebras generated by two idempotents P and Q satisfying (PQ)m=(QP)m and (PQ)m-1≠(QP)m-1. The main result is the classification of all these algebras, implying that for each m?2 there exist exactly eight nonisomorphic copies. As an application, it is shown that if an element of such an algebra has a nondegenerate leading term, then it is group invertible, and a formula for the explicit computation of the group inverse is given.  相似文献

Summary A. M. Ostrowski established the stability of the procedure of successive approximations for Banach contractive maps. In this paper we generalize the above result by using a more general contractive definition introduced by F. Browder. Further, we study the case of maps on metrically convex metric spaces and compact metric spaces, obtaining results relative to fixed point theorems of D. W. Boyd and J. S. W. Wong, and M. Edelstein. Finally, as a by-product of our basic lemma, we extend a recent result of T. Vidalis concerning the convergence of an iteration procedure involving an infinite sequence of maps.  相似文献

The notion of a bead metric space defined here (see Definition 6) is a nice generalization of that of the uniformly convex normed space. In turn, the idea of a central point for a mapping when combined with the “single central point” property of the bead spaces enables us to obtain strong and elegant extensions of the Browder-Göhde-Kirk fixed point theorem for nonexpansive mappings (see Theorems 14-17). Their proofs are based on a very simple reasoning. We also prove two theorems on continuous selections for metric and Hilbert spaces. They are followed by fixed point theorems of Schauder type. In the final part we obtain a result on nonempty intersection.  相似文献

An integer-valued fixed point index for compositions of acyclic multivalued maps is constructed. This index has the additivity, homotopy invariance, normalization, commutativity, and multiplicativity properties. The acyclicity is with respect to the Čech cohomology with integer coefficients. In this paper, we introduce the concepts of the set-valued dynamical systems of asymptotic contractions of Meir–Keeler type and set-valued dynamical systems of strict contractions in uniform spaces and we present a method which is useful for establishing conditions guaranteeing the existence and uniqueness of endpoints of these contractions and the convergence to these endpoints of all generalized sequences of iterations of these contractions. The result, concerning the investigations of problems of the set-valued asymptotic fixed point theory, include some well-known results of Meir and Keeler, Kirk and Suzuki concerning the asymptotic fixed point theory of single-valued maps in metric spaces. The result, concerning set-valued strict contractions (in which the contractive coefficient is not constant), is different from the result of Yuan concerning the existence of endpoints of Tarafdar–Vyborny generalized contractions (in which the contractive coefficient is constant) in bounded metric spaces and provides some examples of Tarafdar–Yuan topological contractions in compact uniform spaces. Definitions and results presented here are new for set-valued dynamical systems in uniform, locally convex and metric spaces and even for single-valued maps. Examples show a fundamental difference between our results and the well-known ones.  相似文献

Dedicated to Professor Sergio Salbany on the occasion of his 60th birthday.

We introduce and study the notion of an almost 2-fully normal bispace. In particular, we prove that a bispace is quasi-pseudometrizable if and only if it is almost 2-fully normal and pairwise developable. We obtain conditions under which an almost 2-fully normal bispace is subquasi-metrizable and show that the fine quasi-uniformity of any subquasi-metrizable topological space is bicomplete. We prove that every pairwise paracompact bispace (in the sense of Romaguera and Marin, 1988) is almost 2-fully normal and that the finest quasi-uniformity of any 2-Hausdorff pairwise paracompact bispace is bicomplete. We also characterize pairwise paracompactness in terms of a property of σ-Lebesgue type of the finest quasi-uniformity. Finally, we use Salbany's compactification of pairwise Tychonoff bispaces to characterize those bispaces that admit a bicomplete pair development and deduce that an interesting example of R. Fox of a non-quasi-metrizable pairwise stratifiable pairwise developable bispace admits a bicomplete pair development.  相似文献
