We show that a weak probe light beam can form spatial solitons in an electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) medium composed of four-level atoms and a coupling light field. We find that the coupling light beam can induce a highly controllable nonlinear waveguide and exert very strong effects on the dynamical behavior of the solitons. Hence, in the EIT medium, it is not only possible to produce spatial solitons at very low light intensities but also simultaneously control these solitons by using the coupling-light-induced nonlinear waveguide.  相似文献

The existence and dynamical properties of discrete solitons in inhomogeneous waveguide arrays with a Kerr nonlinearity are studied in two different configurations. First we investigate the effect of a longitudinal periodic modulation of the coupling strength on the dynamics of discrete solitons. It is shown that resonances of internal modes of the soliton with the longitudinal structure may lead to soliton oscillations and decay. Second we study the existence and stability of discrete solitons in arrays exhibiting a linear variation of the waveguide effective index in the transverse direction. We find that resonant coupling between conventional discrete solitons and linear Wannier-Stark states leads to the formation of so-called hybrid discrete solitons.  相似文献

We consider the dynamics and formation of vortices from ring dark solitons in a two-dimensional Bose–Einstein condensate with the Rashba spin–orbit coupling based on the time-dependent coupled Gross–Pitaevskii equation. Compared with previous results, the system exhibits complex dynamical behaviors in the presence of the spin–orbit coupling. With the modulation of the spin–orbit coupling, not only the lifetime of ring dark solitons is greatly prolonged, but also their attenuation kinetics is significantly affected. For two shallow ring dark solitons with the equal strength of the spin–orbit coupling, the radius of ring dark solitons increases to a maximum value over time and then shrinks into a minimum value. Due to the effect of the snake instability, ring dark solitons split into a series of ring-like clusters of vortex pairs, which perform complex oscillations. This indicates that the system is strongly dependent on the presence of the spin–orbit coupling. Furthermore, the effect of different initial modulation depths on the dynamics of ring dark solitons is investigated.  相似文献

We study solitons in a spin-1 Bose–Einstein condensates with SU(3) spin–orbit coupling. We obtain the ground state and the metastable solution for solitons with attractive interactions by the imaginary-time evolution method. Compared with the SU(2) spin–orbit coupling, it is found that the solitons in SU(3) spin–orbit coupling show a new feature due to breaking the symmetry. The solitons called the composite solitons have mixing manifolds of ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic states. This has stimulated people to study the topological excitation properties of SU(3) spin–orbit coupling and it is expected to find new quantum phases.  相似文献

We investigate the moving matter-wave solitons in spin-orbit coupled Bose-Einstein condensates(BECs) by a perturbation method.Starting with the one-dimensional Gross-Pitaevskii equations,we derive a new KdV-like equation to which an approximate solution is obtained by assuming weak Raman coupling and strong spinorbit coupling.The derivation of the KdV-like equation may be useful to understand the properties of solitons excitation in spin-orbit coupled BECs.We find different types of moving solitons:dark-bright,bright-bright and dark-dark solitons.Interestingly,moving dark-dark soliton for attractive intra- and inter-species interactions is found,which depends on the Raman coupling.The amplitude and velocity of the moving solitons strongly depend on the Raman coupling and spin-orbit coupling.  相似文献

We study discrete solitons in zigzag discrete waveguide arrays with different types of linear mixing between nearest-neighbor and next-nearest-neighbor couplings. The waveguide array is constructed from two layers of one-dimensional (1D) waveguide arrays arranged in zigzag form. If we alternately label the number of waveguides between the two layers, the cross-layer couplings (which couple one waveguide in one layer with two adjacent waveguides in the other layer) construct the nearest-neighbor couplings, while the couplings that couple this waveguide with the two nearest-neighbor waveguides in the same layer, i.e., self-layer couplings, contribute the next-nearest-neighbor couplings. Two families of discrete solitons are found when these couplings feature different types of linear mixing. As the total power is increased, a phase transition of the second kind occurs for discrete solitons in one type of setting, which is formed when the nearest-neighbor coupling and next-nearest-neighbor coupling feature positive and negative linear mixing, respectively. The mobilities and collisions of these two families of solitons are discussed systematically throughout the paper, revealing that the width of the soliton plays an important role in its motion. Moreover, the phase transition strongly influences the motions and collisions of the solitons.  相似文献

用数值方法研究扩散效应对两个平行传播相干光伏孤子光束相互作用的影响. 结果表明,在扩散效应的影响下,两相干孤子光束同相相互作用不是使它们相互融合, 而是使它们趋向相互分离,且光束之间存在能量耦合;异相孤子相互作用不再是简单地互相排斥,在一定的条件下,两光束既互相排斥,又同时向同侧偏转. 关键词: 光伏空间孤子 相干相互作用 扩散效应  相似文献

We demonstrate the first fully controlled generation of immobile and slow spatial gap solitons in nonlinear periodic systems with band-gap spectra, and observe the key features of gap solitons that distinguish them from discrete solitons, including a dynamical transformation of gap solitons due to nonlinear interband coupling. We also describe theoretically and confirm experimentally the effect of the anomalous steering of gap solitons in optically induced photonic lattices.  相似文献

We investigate binary soliton collisions in three component BECs with spin exchange interactions and F = 1. For very special values of the coupling constants, these collisions are known to be elastic. We find that, for a further narrow range of parameters, collisions are almost elastic in the sense that a small amount of energy is lost in the process. Emergent solitons are almost identical to the original ones. However, the generic behaviour, found for most values of the two coupling constants, is very different. We observed the creation of spin component oscillations in both emerging entities. We therefore call these entities oscillatons. They are robust and fit an exact solution of the equations. Thus colliding two solitons can in general, somewhat unexpectedly, result in one of two very different outcomes.  相似文献

We uncover a strong coupling between nonlinearity and diffraction in a photonic crystal at the supercollimation point. We show that this is modeled by a nonlinear diffraction term in a nonlinear-Schr?dinger-type equation in which the properties of solitons are investigated. Linear stability analysis shows solitons are stable in an existence domain that obeys the Vakhitov-Kolokolov criterium. In addition, we investigate the influence of the nonlinear diffraction on soliton collision scenarios.  相似文献

A review is given of features and motion of two-dimensional dissipative solitons in lasers and laser amplifiers with saturable absorption. We present a rich variety of stable complexes with weak, strong, and mixed coupling of individual laser solitons. The type of coupling is determined by the topology of the distribution of energy flows within the complex. We reveal the existence of stable dissipative soliton complexes with curvilinear motion of their centre of mass. This type of motion results from the field distribution asymmetry and is well pronounced for complexes of laser solitons with strong and mixed types of coupling. Similar complexes are expected to exist in different spatially distributed nonlinear dissipative systems, including schemes with discrete dissipative solitons. PACS 42.65.Tg  相似文献

Bessel型光晶格是一种非空间周期性的柱对称的光晶格势场,其兼具无限深势阱和环状势阱的特征,在0阶Bessel光晶格势场中央形成深势阱,而在非0阶Beseel光晶格势场中能形成具有中央势垒的环状浅势阱.极化激元是一种半光半物质的准粒子,该准粒子甚至可以在室温条件下发生玻色-爱因斯坦凝聚相变,形成极化激元凝聚.另外,通过极化激元能级的腔诱导TE-TM分裂能在极化激元凝聚中实现足够强的自旋-轨道耦合作用.极化激元凝聚能在室温条件下实现,在其中又存在自旋-轨道耦合作用,其为量子物理的研究提供了全新的平台.本文把Bessel光晶格势场引入到极化激元凝聚系统,研究了存在自旋-轨道耦合作用下的旋量双组分极化激元凝聚系统的稳态结构.通过求解Gross-Pitaevskii方程给出了极化激元凝聚系统在实验室坐标系和旋转坐标系中极化激元凝聚系统的稳态结构,由于Bessel势场的引入,使得稳态结构更具有多样性.给出了实验室坐标系中在中央深势阱中存在的基础型高斯孤立子、多极孤立子和在环状浅势阱中存在环状孤立子和多极孤立子的稳态结构;给出了旋转坐标系中存在的涡旋环状孤立子,及其由于自旋-轨道相互作用引起的组...  相似文献

Using a tight-binding model and a transfer-matrix technique, we numerically investigate the effects of the coupling strength and the role of solitons on the electronic transmission through a system in which trans-polyacetylene (trans-PA) molecule is sandwiched between two semi-infinite single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT). We rely on Landauer formalism as the basis for studying the conductance properties of this system. Our calculations show that the solitons play an important role in the response of this system causing a large enhancement in the conductance. Also our results suggest that the conductance is sensitive to the CNT/molecule coupling strength.   相似文献

We predict the existence of multifrequency gap solitons (MFGSs) in both one- and two-dimensional nonlinear photonic crystals. A MFGS is a single intrinsic mode possessing multiple frequencies inside the gap. Its existence is a result of synergic nonlinear coupling among solitons or soliton trains at different frequencies. Its formation can either lower the threshold fields of the respective frequency components or stabilize their excitations. These MFGSs form a new class of stable gap solitons.  相似文献

为了得到双光子独立全息屏蔽空间孤子对的结果,基于光折变晶体中的两波耦合和双光子光折变效应,证明在由两块双光子光折变晶体和一个电压源通过导线连接组成的串联回路中存在全息亮(暗)屏蔽孤子。每块晶体中能支持一个全息屏蔽孤子,这两个孤子称为双光子独立全息屏蔽孤子对,有明-明、暗-暗和明-暗三种类型。数值计算结果表明,在光束的空间展宽远小于晶体宽度的极限条件下,孤子对中的两孤子通过光电流和相互耦合能影响到这些孤子的空间包络和动态演化特性。  相似文献

We introduce both concave and convex rectangular apodizations in the middle of fiber Bragg gratings to achieve slow light. Based on the nonlinear coupled mode equations (NLCMEs), the transmission characteristics of grating solitons in rectangle-apodized gratings are numerically simulated and analyzed. The rectangular apodization can change the grating coupling coefficient to give rise to slow and capture the solitons in gratings. The effects of the soliton energy parameters, the width of rectangular apodization and the variation of the coupling coefficient on the soliton transmission are presented. The results show that, the velocity of solitons can be slowed down, and the capability to capture a soliton depends on the energy of input solitons, coupling coefficient, and the rectangular width. Two kinds of soliton capture methods are proposed and compared with each other.  相似文献

The problem of soliton propagation in a system of tunnel-coupled fibers in the case when a coupling parameter depends on a coordinate along a fiber is considered. It is shown, that at periodic modulation of coupling both the parametric resonance of solitons and their dynamic stochastization are possibly depending on the initial conditions, while in the case of a random coupling parameter the stochastic parametric resonance of solitons arises.  相似文献

It is difficult to investigate the behavior of solitons in realistic inhomogeneity media in experiment due to inhomogeneity of the media and noise from the unwanted coupling. We propose to use a waveguide-like transmission line which is based on direct-current super-conducting quantum interference devices to simulate behavior of solitons because we find that the behavior of the node flux in this transmission is similar to that of solitons with variable mass.  相似文献

We consider the dynamics of bright solitons in one dimensional Bose Einstein condensate with spin orbit coupling and trapped by an optical lattice potential. We mainly focus on the effects of the spin orbit coupling, Rabi coupling and detuning parameter on the soliton dynamics. The solution of the coupled Gross Pitaevskii equation is performed with the help of the variational and numerical methods for various parameters. The population imbalance and the center of mass motion show different dynamic behaviors depending on the parameters. We also obtain traveling bright solitons related with a given finite initial momentum.  相似文献

We show the existence of new stationary solutions in the form of domain wall soliton in the nonlinear Schrödinger-Poisson equations describing the dynamics of quantum electron plasmas. It is found that the domain wall soliton exists at strong coupling constant regime and shows a different dynamical behavior in comparison with the previously found dark and gray solitons. The robustness and the conservation of the energy of the domain wall solitons is demonstrated by numerical simulations.  相似文献
