An analytical expression was proposed to analyze the influence of group-delay ripple (GDR) on timing jitter induced by self-phase modulation (SPM) and intra-channel cross-phase modulation (IXPM) in pseudolinear transmission systems when dispersion was compensated by chirped fiber Bragg grating (CFBG).Effects of ripple amplitude, period, and phase on timing jitter were discussed by theoretical and numerical analysis in detail. The results show that the influence of GDR on timing jitter changes linearly with the amplitude of GDR and whether it decreases or increases the timing jitter relies on the ripple period and ripple phase. Timing jitter induced by SPM and IXPM could be suppressed totally by adjusting the relative phase between the center frequency of the pulse and the ripples.  相似文献

提出了一种新型的基于光电振荡器的重复频率可调谐的超低抖动光窄脉冲源. 光电振荡器系统可以产生超低相位噪声的微波信号; 被该信号调制的直调光经过两次相位调制之后, 使光脉冲的啁啾增强; 再通过一段色散补偿光纤, 光脉冲被进一步压窄. 实验中使用YIG可调滤波器, 可以得到8–12 GHz内步进为200 MHz的可调谐微波信号, 因此光脉冲的重复频率具有可调谐性. 当微波信号即脉冲重复频率为9.6 GHz时, 测得脉冲宽度为3.7 ps, 相位噪声为-130.1 dBc/Hz@10 kHz. 由此得出光脉冲的瞬时抖动为60.1 fs (100 Hz–1 MHz), 因此该方案产生的光窄脉冲源具有超低的抖动.  相似文献

光纤锁模激光器结构简单, 运转稳定, 且输出的超短脉冲序列具有极高的时钟稳定性, 在抽运探测、脉冲相干合成等要求高精度时钟同步的前沿领域有着广阔的应用前景. 本文通过激光器腔内的电光调制器进行反馈控制, 实现了两台光纤锁模激光器之间的紧密时钟信号同步; 并且通过平衡光学互相关方法, 对残余的时钟误差信号进行了测量, 分辨率达到了13 as. 通过优化激光器的腔内动力学过程及反馈环路的参数, 在[1 Hz, 10 MHz]的积分区间内得到了109 as的残余时钟误差, 对应单台激光器的平均时间抖动为77 as.  相似文献

A stable mode-locked fiber laser employing a 49 cm long bismuth oxide based erbium doped fiber (Bi-EDF) by using a slow saturable absorber is demonstrated. Near transform limited short pulses with a repetition rate of 8.27 MHz are obtained at a wavelength of 1560 nm with a maximum spectral width of 15 nm. Results indicate that pulse characteristics are strongly dependent on pump power rather than spectral width. Moreover the Time-Bandwidth products (TBWP), pulse duration, the energy fluctuation and timing jitter decrease with increasing pump power. The pulse width is continuously varied from 1.2 ps to less than 300 fs. It produces stable mode locking with a maximum spectral width of 15 nm, minimum timing jitter of 4 ps and energy fluctuations of 2.5%. The pulse train was amplified using a two-stage amplifier up to 447 mW average power corresponding to peak powers of 177.3 kW.  相似文献

研究了高速色散控制准线性传输系统中的信道内交叉相位调制和信道内四波混频等非线性相互作用,分析了信道内交叉相位调制导致定时抖动和信道内四波混频导致振幅抖动随距离和色散分布强度变化的规律,然后运用快速傅里叶变换法分析了信道内交叉相位调制导致的2^5-1的伪随机码流的定时抖动和振幅抖动及寄生脉冲的产生.证实了理论分析。最后通过数值模拟实现了色散分布强度为127的强色散控制系统中准线性脉冲序列1600km的稳定传输,结论对用标准单模光纤实现高速传输具有重要意义。  相似文献

理论上推导了非等幅均匀复用的OTDM信号中时钟分量与各路脉冲幅度的关系式,并分别从频域和时域的角度给出了利用以半导体光放大器(SOA)作为调制器的锁模光纤激光器进行时钟提取的物理机制,对时钟提取的物理过程给出了形象解释.实验上通过利用锁模光纤激光器成功地从非等幅均匀复用的8×2.5 GHz OTDM信号中提取了2.5 GHz单路时钟和20 GHz群路时钟光脉冲.利用该方案提取的时钟脉冲稳定性好,对偏振态不敏感,是较理想的时钟源.此技术可用于高速OTDM信号的时钟提取.  相似文献

The robustness of the software-synchronized all-optical sampling for optical performance monitoring is estimated for 10-Gb/s fiber communication systems. It reveals that the software-synchronized algorithm is sensitive to the signal degradation caused by chromatic dispersion and nonlinearity in optical fibers. The influence of timing jitter and amplitude fluctuation of the sampling pulses is also investigated. It is found that stringent requirements are imposed on the quality of the sampling pulse and the tolerance of 1-dB Q penalty is measured. Considering the practically available optical sampling pulse sources, the results indicate that the amplitude fluctuation of the sampling pulses has the dominant impacts on the software-synchronized method.  相似文献

We demonstrate that timing jitter has a strong influence on supercontinua generated in a photonic crystal fiber ring cavity synchronously pumped by 140?fs pulses. The global dynamics with respect to cavity detuning is analyzed both numerically and experimentally by tracking the cavity pulse energy. The results show that low-frequency timing jitter, induced by both the pump oscillator and the external cavity, masks the fine underlying bifurcation structure of the system. Numerical simulations in the absence of timing jitter reveal that the system dynamics fall into four qualitatively different regimes. The existence of these regimes is experimentally observed in first-return diagrams.  相似文献

提出并建立了一种新型的基于光纤四波混频效应和压控光脉冲源的光锁相环路(OPLL),用于光时分复用系统(OTDM)中的时钟恢复过程。从理论上分析了其工作原理,及各模块结构和功能。利用高非线性光纤中的四波混频效应实现全光鉴相器,有效缩短了光纤长度,减小了光纤色散引起的脉冲走离,鉴相器消光比超过30 dB。采用再生锁模光纤激光器实现压控光脉冲源,在保证脉冲质量的前提下,重复频率调节范围达到380 kHz。在40 Gb/s时钟恢复实验中,获得脉宽为7.2 ps、接近变换极限的时钟脉冲,时间抖动(RMS)为152 fs,超模抑制比大于60 dB。实验证明,输入信号幅度波动和码型效应对环路影响很小。  相似文献

In this paper, the timing jitter in dispersion-managed soliton-like systems with the Gaussian pulse is studied by using two methods. Firstly, the derivation of the dynamic equations for the evolution of soliton-like parameters and the timing jitter expressions for the dispersion-managed soliton-like systems are carried out by the perturbed variational method. By analysing and simulating these timing jitter expressions, one can find that the timing jitter is induced by the amplified spontaneous emission noise and the frequency shift, etc. Nonlinear gain can suppress the timing jitter. The chirp sign and the filters action have also effects on the total timing jitter. Secondly, the timing jitter is calculated and analysed by using the moment method. The results of the two methods prove to be consistent with each other.  相似文献

We report on an experimental investigation of the timing jitter (TJ) in a fiber-coupled detection system based on a superconducting nanowire single-photon detector (SNSPD). We used a picosecond pulsed laser and fiber delay lines to generate subsequent optical pulsed pairs in each period and measured the TJ between the pulses. Because only the interval time between two pulses in each period was interested, we did not need to know the absolute time of every pulse. Therefore, the TJ from laser and trigger signal can be removed. In order to estimate the intrinsic TJ of SNSPD, we analyzed the TJ caused by time distribution of optical pulse, electronic components, readout noise, kinetic inductance and dispersion in fiber channel. Finally, we obtained the intrinsic TJs for two kinds of detectors considering these impacts.  相似文献

We show that strong overlap of adjacent pulses in dispersion-managed return-to-zero transmission reduces pulse-to-pulse interaction and timing jitter. The limiting factors for this pulse-overlapped transmission are the amplitude fluctuations and the ghost pulse generation induced by four-wave mixing between spectral components within a single channel.  相似文献

We demonstrate a coherent synthesis system based on femtosecond Yb-doped fiber laser technology. The output pulse of the amplification system is divided into two replicas and seeded into photonic crystal fibers of two parallel branches for nonlinear pulse compression. Because of the different nonlinear dynamics in the photonic crystal fibers, the compressed pulses show different spectra, which can be spliced to form a broad coherent spectrum. The integrated timing jitter between the pulses of two branches is less than one tenth of an optical cycle.By coherently synthesizing pulses from these two branches, 8 fs few-cycle pulses are produced.  相似文献

A stretched-pulse mode-locked ytterbium-doped fiber laser was passively synchronized to a femtosecond Ti:sapphire laser at a low repetition rate of 240 kHz through large cross absorption modulation along additional 1-m-long erbium-doped fiber. The synchronous fiber laser with an ultra-long fiber cavity could produce not only nanosecond flat-top pulses with tunable pulse duration but also Gaussian-shape stretched pulses with its minimum pulse duration of ∼450 ps as confirmed by cross-correlation measurement. When operating in the stretched pulse regime, the sub-nanosecond fiber laser could be synchronously triggered by the master injection with the cavity-length mismatch tolerance up to ∼7.8 cm and timing jitter less than 400 fs, confirming that the stretched-pulse mode-locking of the ultra-long slave fiber laser could be robustly controlled by cross absorption modulation effects in the erbium-doped fiber with appropriate femtosecond master injection.  相似文献

We derive an expression for the timing jitter of a soliton owing to amplifier noise in dispersion-managed fiber systems. We show that the timing jitter is a function of the pulse width as well as of the chirp at the amplifier location and that it can be minimized by a proper choice of the amplifier position relative to the dispersion map.  相似文献

报道了低成本、非制冷法布里-玻罗腔半导体增益开光激光器稳定地产生超短脉冲的实验研究.通过使用外部连续光注入,增益开光激光器的脉冲抖动得到了有效的抑制.实验结果表,明当选择合适功率的连续光注入到非制冷半导体增益开关激光器腔内,可以稳定地产生脉宽26 ps、抖动低于400 fs、重复频率2.5 GHz的脉冲序列.  相似文献

We investigate the chirp selection of externally modulated RZ soliton pulse at 10 Gb/s for fiber optical communication systems for the reduction in timing jitter. We have chosen single arm Mach-Zehnder amplitude modulator with sin2 electrical shaped input-output (P-V) characteristic and its chirp range has been varied in the range of −5 to 5. The timing jitter, Q factor and bit error rate (BER) generated for the chirp range has been studied for various fiber lengths and post compensation has been demonstrated to reduce the timing jitter. The number of fixed output amplifiers after every 60 km span is varied from 2 to 10 and corresponding accumulated ASE noise has been studied to manage timing jitter and BER in permissible range, i.e. 5 ps and 10−9, respectively. It is observed that when two fiber spans are taken then the compensating fiber length for the system is less than 20 km for each case of the chirp considered. For 10 fiber spans, the compensating fiber length increases in the range 60-90 km depending upon the value of chirp taken. Finally it is shown that the chirp value of external modulator should be set to either 0 or −1 for externally modulated RZ soliton pulse in 10 Gb/s optical communication system which makes the system more insensitive to the timing jitter and the selection of dispersion compensating fiber length.  相似文献

An analysis of optical injection on a gain-switched distributed feedback (DFB) laser and its impact on pulse parameters that influence the performance of the pulse source in high-speed optical communication systems is presented in this paper. A range of 10 GHz in detuning and 5 dB in injected power has been experimentally identified to attain pulses, from an optically injected gain-switched DFB laser, with durations below 10 ps and pedestal suppression higher than 35 dB. These pulse features are associated with a side mode suppression ratio of about 30 dB and a timing jitter of less than 1 ps. This demonstrates the feasibility of using optical injection in conjunction with appropriate pulse compression schemes for developing an optimized and cost-efficient pulse source, based on a gain-switched DFB laser, for high-speed photonic systems.  相似文献

A simple and very precise group delay ripple (GDR) measurement technique for linearly chirped fiber Bragg gratings (CFBGs) is proposed. It is based on real-time optical Fourier transformation of an ultrashort pulse directly induced by the CFBG dispersion. We have experimentally demonstrated highly accurate characterization of the GDR profile of a commercial 10-m-long CFBG with a dispersion of +2000 ps/nm, having achieved a remarkably small standard deviation in our measurements of about 4 ps over a bandwidth of 28 nm. The proposed method has the unique potential to provide real-time GDR monitoring (in the MHz range) by use of commercially available high-speed sampling electronics.  相似文献

The phase noise and the amplitude noise of optical pulses from the amplitude modulated harmonically mode-locked (AM-HML) Er-doped fiber (EDF) ring laser was investigated by measuring the power spectra of the optical pulses. The root mean square (RMS) timing jitter and the RMS amplitude noise are 1.26 ps and 2.5% (500 Hz-50 kHz), respectively, when the pulse repetition frequency is 1.58 GHz. They are smaller than those in conventional harmonically mode-locked EDF ring lasers.  相似文献
