Mean ergodicity of multiplication operators in weighted spaces of holomorphic functions

Multiplication operators in weighted Banach (and locally convex) spaces of functions holomorphic in the unit disc are well known. In this note we investigate the connection between power boundedness, mean ergodicity and uniform mean ergodicity of such operators. Received: 13 October 2008, Revised: 18 November 2008     

Unconditionality in spaces of smooth functions

Our main result shows that subspaces of L¹([0, 1]) on which the blow-up operators act compactly are isometric to dual spaces, and their natural predual belongs to the Banach-Mazur closure of quotient spaces of . Related general results are shown for subspaces X of or of reflexive K?the function spaces, which imply that when X consists of smooth functions it embeds into a Banach space with an unconditional basis. We construct a bounded linear operator on a separable, reflexive and strictly convex Banach space with the resolvent norm that is constant in a neighbourhood of zero.

We characterize the commutant ofM _Z ² (the operator of multiplication by the square of independent variable defined on ℬ) and show that for an operatorS in the commutantM _Z ² ifSM _Z ^2k+1−M _Z ^2k+1 S is compact for some nonnegative integerk, thenS=M _ϕ whereϕ is a multiplier of ℬ. We show that the orbifold Chow ring of a root stack over a well-formed weighted projective space can be naturally seen as the Jacobian algebra of a function on a singular variety.     

Geometric conditions for interpolation in weighted spaces of entire functions

We use L² estimates for the equation to find geometric conditions on discrete interpolating varieties for weighted spaces A_p(ℂ) of entire functions such that |f(z)|≤Ae^Bp(z) for some A, B>0. Generalized Essential Norm of Weighted Composition Operators on some Uniform Algebras of Analytic Functions

We compute the essential norm of a composition operator relatively to the class of Dunford-Pettis operators or weakly compact operators, on some uniform algebras of analytic functions. Even in the context of H^∞ (resp. the disk algebra), this is new, as well for the polydisk algebras and the polyball algebras. This is a consequence of a general study of weighted composition operators.      

Spaces of compact operators and their dual spaces

Theω′-topology on the spaceL(X, Y) of bounded linear operators from the Banach spaceX into the Banach spaceY is discussed in [10]. Let ℒ^w' (X, Y) denote the space of allT∈L(X, Y) for which there exists a sequence of compact linear operators (T _n)⊂K(X, Y) such thatT=ω′−lim_nT_n and let . We show that is a Banach ideal of operators and that the continuous dual spaceK(X, Y)* is complemented in . This results in necessary and sufficient conditions forK(X, Y) to be reflexive, whereby the spacesX andY need not satisfy the approximation property. Hilbert-Schmidt Hankel Operators on the Bergman Space of Planar Domains

In this paper we study the problem of the membership of H _ϕ in the Hilbert-Schmidt class, when and Ω is a planar domain. We find a necessary and sufficient condition.We apply this result to the problem of joint membership of H _φ and in the Hilbert-Schmidt class. Using the notion of Berezin Transform and a result of K. Zhu we are able to give a necessary and sufficient condition. Finally, we recover a result of Arazy, Fisher and Peetre on the case with φ holomorphic.     

Composition Operators on the Space of Bounded Harmonic Functions

We study composition operators on the space of bounded harmonic functions on the open unit disk. The principal goal of this paper is to provide criteria for determining the essential norm of difference of two composition operators. Schatten-von Neumann Hankel Operators on the Bergman Space of Planar Domains

In this paper we study the problem of the joint membership of Hφ and in the Schatten-von Neumann p-class when φ ∈ L∞(Ω) and Ω is a planar domain. We use a result of K. Zhu and the localization near the boundary to solve the problem. Finally, we recover a result of Arazy, Fisher and Peetre on the case with φ holomorphic.      

Density of Lipschitz mappings in the class of Sobolev mappings between metric spaces

We prove that Lipschitz mappings are dense in the Newtonian–Sobolev classes N ^1,p (X, Y) of mappings from spaces X supporting p-Poincaré inequalities into a finite Lipschitz polyhedron Y if and only if Y is [p]-connected, π ₁(Y) = π ₂(Y) = · · · = π _[p](Y) = 0, where [p] is the largest integer less than or equal to p. Sobolev spaces with only trivial isometries, II

In this article, we obtain a canonical form for surjective linear isometries provided U is an open, bounded, connected, domain with Lipschitz boundary, and . We will show there exists |c| = 1 and mapping τ that is a composition of a translation and a sign-changing permutation of coordinates such that Tf = cf(τ). As a corollary, if , all surjective isometries have this trivial form by the Sobolev Imbedding Theorem.      

Covering spheres of Banach spaces by balls

If the unit sphere of a Banach space X can be covered by countably many balls no one of which contains the origin, then, as an easy consequence of the separation theorem, X* is w*-separable. We prove the converse under suitable renorming. Moreover, the balls of the countable covering can be chosen as translates of the same ball. Research of V. P. Compact multipliers on spaces of analytic functions

In the paper compact multiplier operators from Banach spaces of analytic functions on the unit disk into Banach sequence lattices are studied. If , then the characterization of compact multipliers is obtained through calculating the Hausdorff measure of noncompactness of diagonal operators between Banach sequence lattices. Furthermore, in the general case , necessary and sufficient conditions for compactness are presented. Received: 12 August 2008, Revised: 11 January 2009     

Toeplitz Operators and Herz Spaces on the Half-Space

On the setting of the half-space we introduce the Schatten-Herz classes of Toeplitz operators and obtain characterizations for positive Toeplitz operators to belong to those classes. We also prove results concerning the boundedness and compactness of Toeplitz operators with Herz symbols. Such a study has been recently done on the ball. At a critical step of the proofs we employ a much simplified argument to extend the range of parameters for Herz spaces on which the Berezin transform is bounded. Our results show not only that most of results on the ball continue to hold, but also that there is some pathology caused by the unboundedness of the domain. Projective limits of weighted (LB)-spaces of continuous functions

Countable projective spectra of countable inductive limits, called (PLB)-spaces, of weighted Banach spaces of continuous functions are investigated. It is characterized when the derived projective limit functor vanishes in terms of the sequences of the weights defining the spaces. The locally convex properties of the corresponding projective limits are analyzed, too. Received: 30 January 2009
