We discuss optical rogue wave generation in terms of collisions and turbulence processes. Simulations of picosecond pulse propagation in optical fibres show rogue soliton generation from either third-order dispersion or Raman scattering independently. Simulations of rogue soliton emergence with dispersive perturbation in the long-distance limit are also presented.  相似文献

A propagation of the femtosecond second-order solitons in an optical fiber is studied. We show that a generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equation well describes the propagation of the second-order soliton even containing only a few optical cycles. The propagations of a 50 fs and a 10 fs second-order soliton in an optical fiber are numerically simulated. It is found that, for the case of 10 fs second-order soliton, the soliton decay is dominated by the third-order dispersion, in contrast to the case of 50 fs second-order solitons, where the soliton decay is dominated by the delayed Raman response. It is also found that the exact delayed Raman response form must be used for the propagation of the 50 fs or less than 50 fs second-order soliton.  相似文献

Dark soliton switching in a nonlinear directional coupler in the presence of intermodal dispersion, cross-phase modulation (CPM), third-order dispersion, Raman effect, and self-steepening effect is reported for the first time. It is shown that, with the exception of CPM, all of the other perturbative effects have almost no effect on the switching characteristics of the dark soliton switch, which is an improvement over the corresponding bright soliton switch. Although the CPM increases the critical power of dark soliton switching, the soliton pulse remains stable inside the coupler during its propagation.  相似文献

以变系数的非自治非线性薛定谔方程为模型,考虑了一种色散、非线性和自发拉曼散射效应管理下的非自治系统,通过简单变换显式给出了该系统的精确非自治拉曼多色孤子解。基于精确孤子解,解析研究了该拉曼多色孤子在非自治管理系统中的演化特性,发现孤子的中心位置、波数与色散和非线性以及拉曼效应有关,而孤子频移仅与拉曼效应的参数决定,拉曼效应主导了非自治孤子的自频移,引起了孤子的频移在传输过程中不断的发生变化,导致了孤子的多色性。另外,我们数值讨论了该非自治孤子的传输稳定性,结果表明:该非自治拉曼多色孤子在有限的扰动下具有较好的稳定性。  相似文献

运用数值方法研究了色散缓变光纤中飞秒基本孤子的传输特性,发现基本孤子脉冲不仅能被压缩,而且压缩光脉冲能保持脉宽不变转输即稳定传。光脉冲压缩过程中,发现三阶色散效应有较大的影响。适当地选取色散缓变光纤结构参数可能获得高质量的超短压缩光脉冲。对压缩光脉冲稳定伟机理探索表明,光纤二阶色散纵向变化率,三阶色散与喇曼自散射效应共同作用导致压缩光脉冲稳定传输。  相似文献

Using the mean-field normalized Lugiato–Lefever equation, we theoretically investigate the dynamics of cavity soliton and comb generation in the presence of Raman effect and the third-order dispersion. Both of them can induce the temporal drift and frequency shift. Based on the moment analysis method, we analytically obtain the temporal and frequency shift,and the results agree with the direct numerical simulation. Finally, the compensation and enhancement of the soliton spectral between the Raman-induced self-frequency shift and soliton recoil are predicted. Our results pave the way for further understanding the soliton dynamics and spectral characteristics, and providing an effective route to manipulate frequency comb.  相似文献

We model the propagation of femtosecond pulses through optical fibres by a nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equation involving a perturbing term arising due to third-order dispersion in the medium. The perturbative effect of this higher-order dispersion causes the usual NLS soliton to emit a radiation field. As a result, the given initial pulse propagating through the fibre exhibits nonsolitonic behaviour. We make use of a variational method to demonstrate how an initial pulse by the interaction with the emitted radiation can evolve into a soliton. We also demonstrate that the effect of interaction between the initial pulse and radiation field can be accounted for by including, in the evolution equation, terms associated with self-steepening and stimulated Raman scattering that characterize the optical medium.  相似文献

Effect of Raman scattering and higher order dispersion are investigated in case of surface core or gap solitons, known to exist in hollow core photonic crystal fibers. The necessary conditions for the existence of the soliton are analyzed in the parameter plane. It is observed that these conditions are compatible with the famous Vakhitov-Kolokolov (VK) criterion. In the later part the system of partial differential equations are solved by ETDRK method from which the shapes of the pulses are investigated as it travels along the z direction. Stability of soliton propagation with third-order dispersion is analyzed by using self-companying operator method. The results show : third-order dispersion leads to time jitters in arrival, and disrupts the stability of soliton transmission. A parabolic index dispersion decreasing fiber (DDF) has been designed and optimized to produce high capacity soliton communication system. Variation of different fiber parameters such as core radius, effective core area and GVD factor along the 25 km of DDF length has been carried out to optimize a best possible DDF which can sustain the propagation of fundamental soliton. The variation of non-linearity with length along with the conventional power and GVD factor variation has been included in the generalized non-linear Schrodinger equation (NLSE). This NLSE has been solved numerically by split step Fourier method for shorter pulse propagation, incorporating the term for third order dispersion and intrapulse Raman scattering. Stable soliton pulses in transmission system have been achieved by our simulation, when a correction factor due to Raman induced soliton mean frequency shift is incorporated to the GVD profile predicted by the fundamental soliton condition. The interaction of neighboring soliton pulse pair through the proposed fiber has also been studied.  相似文献

采用时间转换法研究了周期量级飞秒脉冲电场在非线性克尔介质中的传输.由于周期量级飞秒脉冲电场的脉宽小于介质拉曼响应的特征时间,在传输过程中脉冲电场会发生剧烈的变形和分裂,并在频谱上观察到了强烈的拉曼感应频移和色散波.由于周期量级脉冲电场依赖于载波包络相位,发现在脉冲电场传输过程中,主脉冲电场和色散波电场的相位线性地依赖于初始脉冲的载波包络相位.  相似文献

研究了脉冲内拉曼散射效应影响下的同相和反相相邻孤子脉冲之间的相互作用,分析了孤子之间的相互作用对定时抖动的影响和脉冲内拉曼散射效应对孤子频移的影响。研究结果表明:在脉冲内,在拉曼散射效应的影响下,同相基态孤子脉冲的周期性离合被破坏了,两孤子脉冲一次碰撞后一直处于排斥状态,并且在碰撞后自频移现象十分明显;反相孤子脉冲的影响则较弱,两孤子脉冲都向下降沿发生偏移。引入非线性增益可以有效地控制孤子之间的相互作用,抑制自频移效应和稳定孤子传输。  相似文献

We calculate the self-frequency shift experienced by a soliton in a dispersion-managed fiber that is due to the Raman effect, as well as the energy and frequency shifts that result from a collision of such solitons with different wavelengths. We find that dispersion management suppresses both types of frequency shift but does not significantly affect the energy shift that is accumulated over a large propagation distance. The latter shift may represent a potential problem for wavelength-division-multiplexed systems with several gigabits per second in a single channel.  相似文献

We experimentally and numerically investigate femtosecond-pulse propagation in a microstructured optical fiber consisting of a silica core surrounded by airholes that are filled with a high-index fluid. This fiber combines the resonant properties of hollow-core bandgap fibers and the high nonlinearity of index-guiding waveguides. A range of nonlinear optical effects can be observed, including soliton propagation, dispersive wave generation, and a Raman self-frequency shift. Tuning the center wavelength of the laser and varying the refractive index of the fluid lead to different propagation effects, mediated by the strongly wavelength-dependent group-velocity dispersion in these photonic bandgap confining structures.  相似文献

An interaction of vector solitons in the frame of coupled third-order nonlinear Schrödinger equations taking into account third-order linear dispersion, nonlinear dispersion, and cross-phase modulation terms is considered. Phase nature of the solitons? interaction is shown. In particular, dependence of solitons? trajectories on initial distance between solitons is shown. The dynamics of dark-bright vector solitons is investigated in a birefringent fiber with the high-order dispersions,and their effects on vector soliton propagation and interaction are analyzed using the numerical method.The combined role of the high-order dispersions,such as the third-order dispersion (TOD) and the fourth-order dispersion (FOD),may cause various deformation of the vector soliton and enhance interaction.These effects depend strictly on the sign of the high-order dispersions.Results indicate that the disadvantageous effects can be reduced effectively via proper mapping of the high-order dispersions.  相似文献
