The concentration effect of nonionic surfactants (Triton X‐100, Brij 30, Brij 58, Tween 20, and Tween 80) and tert‐butanol was investigated on the Briggs–Rauscher oscillatory reaction in a stirred batch reactor at 25 ± 0.1°C in both the absence and presence of nonionic surfactant and tert‐butanol as well. The addition of Triton X‐100, Brij 58, and Tween 20 influenced the oscillatory parameters in a similar fashion: a decrease of the induction period until its disappearance, an increase of the oscillation period, an increase of the oscillation amplitude, an increase of the duration of the oscillation, and a gradual increase of the oscillation numbers. The addition of Brij 30 has no significant effect on the oscillation parameters of the Briggs‐Rauscher oscillatory reaction. The effect of tert‐butanol on the Briggs–Rauscher oscillatory reaction is very similar to the effect of Brij 58; however, we were unable to observe the disappearance of the induction period on the studied concentration range. The addition of Tween 80 to the reaction mixture has a similar effect as the addition of Triton X‐100, Brij 58, or Tween 20, except for the induction period, which in the case of Tween 80, it becomes larger. The observed effects are explained in terms of micellar catalysis or inhibition, that is, in a different extent of individual reactants of solubilization.  相似文献

The diesel engine exhaust gas consists of many hazardous components that need to be reduced. Incorporation of water in fuel restricts the emission of such toxic gases and helps to reduce pollution. The aim of this research work is to develop a water-in-diesel fuel emulsion having maximum stability. Initially, the most suitable surfactant/blend of surfactants has been investigated, which gives the maximum stability to the Water-in-Diesel (W/D) emulsion. It is found that a blend of Span 80 and Tween 80 gives an effective result. The W/D emulsion was prepared by using a high-speed mixing homogenizer and adding a small amount of water into the diesel containing blend of Span 80 and Tween 80. The results show that 10% W/D emulsion having 5% surfactant concentration gives the most desirable emulsion stability. Beyond 10% water concentration, the properties of the W/D emulsion get lowered.  相似文献

For preparing O/W miniemulsions containing soybean oil and silicone oil, three methods, phase inversion emulsification, D-phase emulsification, reformed D-phase emulsification were tested by using Brij92, 97, 98 and Tween 80, 85, 60, 20 and Span 80, 60 mixed surfactants. It was found that the O/W miniemulsions of soybean oil and silicone oil can not be formed by phase inversion emulsification method, but can be formed by the two other methods. The results of emulsification showed that if gel emulsion, in which fine oil droplets disperse in continuous phase with high surfactant content, appears during the emulsification process, the O/W miniemulsions can be formed by simply diluting with water.  相似文献

Cyclic voltammetry (CV) and viscosity measurements have been employed to study the aggregation behavior of mixed micellar systems of anionic surfactant (dioctyl sulfosuccinate sodium salt, AOT) with conventional nonionic surfactants such as Brij 35/TritonX-100/Tween 20/Tween 80/Myrj 45 and two triblock copolymers (L64 and F68). Critical micelle concentration (cmc) values have been determined for various micellar systems from CV measurements using 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-1-piperidinyloxy (TEMPO) as an electroactive probe at 25 °C. Diffusion coefficient (D) has been evaluated from Randles–Sevcik equation which showed an overall decrease for most of the binary systems. The negative values of interaction parameters (β) obtained from regular solution theory suggest the synergistic behavior in all the binary systems except AOT + Tween 80 mixtures. The mixed systems of AOT with triblock copolymers showed stronger synergistic interactions than that of mixed systems of AOT with nonionic surfactants. A comparative evaluation of mixed systems of anionic surfactants AOT and sodium dodecyl sulfate with Myrj 45 and AOT + L64 and F68 has been made on the basis of different micellar parameters and structural properties of surfactants. Viscosity measurements also show similar type of interactions in the mixed micelles.  相似文献

The solubilities of two nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory (MELOXICAM and CELECOXIB) drugs, were determined in aqueous solutions of nonionic (Tween 20, Tween 80, Brij 30, Brij 35, Triton X 100, Triton X 114) surfactants. These surfactants have different numbers of oxyethylene units and their micelles showed different aggregation numbers. It is shown that these surfactants have different abilities to solubilize NSAIDs drugs. The solubilities of the drugs increased linearly with the increase in concentration of surfactants. The sizes of micelles remained constant with the addition of the drugs, except for Triton type surfactants in which case the size of the micelles decreased. It was observed that the number of oxyethylene units in the surfactants, aggregation number of the micelles and HLB play key roles in solubilizing the drugs.  相似文献

Non-ionic surfactant (Brij 35, Tween 20, Tween 80 and Tergitol NPX) modified capillary isotachophoresis was investigated for the separation of 2-arylpropionic acids (fenoprofen, flurbiprofen, ibuprofen, ketoprofen and naproxen) and benzoic acid and its derivatives (salicylic, acetylsalicylic and gallic acids). The relative step height (RSH) values of analytes were found to be dependent on the type and concentration of the surfactant. The strength of the affinity of the 2-arylpropionic acids to the non-ionic micelles was found to be as follows: flurbiprofen > fenoprofen > ibuprofen > naproxen > ketoprofen. In general, the RSH values of 2-arylpropionic acids increase with an increase in the concentration of surfactants. However, the RSHs of benzoic, salicylic and gallic acids are not considerably affected. Separation of all acids was obtained with the Tween 20 (1.5%, w/v) in the leading electrolyte 10 mmol L(-1) hydrochloric acid/L-histidine (pH 6.0). Changes in the fluorescence intensity of fenoprofen, flurbiprofen and naproxen were also investigated in micellar media (Tween 20, Tween 80 and Brij 35). The strength of the affinity of the 2-arylpropionic acids to the Tweens micelles was found to be as follows: flurbiprofen > fenoprofen > naproxen, which is consistent with the isotachophoretic results. On the contrary, the strength of the affinity to the Brij micelles was found to be as follows: fenoprofen > naproxen > flurbiprofen.  相似文献

The use of surfactant mixtures to affect both EOF and separation selectivity in electrophoresis with PDMS substrates is reported, and capacitively coupled contactless conductivity detection is introduced for EOF measurement on PDMS microchips. First, the EOF was measured for two nonionic surfactants (Tween 20 and Triton X‐100), mixed ionic/nonionic surfactant systems (SDS/Tween 20 and SDS/Triton X‐100), and finally for the first time, mixed zwitterionic/nonionic surfactant systems (TDAPS/Tween 20 and TDAPS/Triton X‐100). EOF for the nonionic surfactants decreased with increasing surfactant concentration. The addition of SDS or TDAPS to a nonionic surfactant increased EOF. After establishing the EOF behavior, the separation of model catecholamines was explored to show the impact on separations. Similar analyte resolution with greater peak heights was achieved with mixed surfactant systems containing Tween 20 and TDAPS relative to the single surfactant system. Finally, the detection of catecholamine release from PC12 cells by stimulation with 80 mM K+ was performed to demonstrate the usefulness of mixed surfactant systems to provide resolution of biological compounds in complex samples.  相似文献

On the basis of comparing the adsorption loss of different surfactants[single nonionic surfactant sorbitanmonooleatepolyoxyethylene ether(Tween 80), anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate(SDBS), and mixed surfactants Tween 80/SDBS(3:2), Tween 80/SDBS(4:1)] and their performance in the enhancement of polychlorinated biphenyls(PCBs) desorption from soil, the impact of electric field intensity on the desorption of PCBs and the transport of surfactants in washing resulted solution were investigated in this study. With regard to the remediation cost, 1000 mg/L mixed Tween 80/SDBS(3:2) was recognized as an optimum concentration in the remediation of PCBs-contaminated soil, because Tween 80/SDBS(3:2) had the highest washing capacity and relatively low adsorption loss onto soil. Electrokinetics can enhance the washing efficiency of PCBs-contaminated soil by Tween 80/SDBS(3:2) effectively and safely at an electric field intensity of 1.5 V/cm for 10 d, for the desorption of PCBs was 1.57 times more than that without electrokinetics, and the most of organic residue in washing resulted solution was removed in an electrical field to avoid the possible secondary contamination risk.  相似文献

Approximate partial phase diagrams for nine amphiphile-protic ionic liquid (PIL) systems have been determined by synchrotron source small angle X-ray scattering, differential scanning calorimetry and cross polarised optical microscopy. The binary phase diagrams of some common cationic (hexadecyltrimethyl ammonium chloride, CTAC, and hexadecylpyridinium bromide, HDPB) and nonionic (polyoxyethylene (10) oleyl ether, Brij 97, and Pluronic block copolymer, P123) amphiphiles with the PILs, ethylammonium nitrate (EAN), ethanolammonium nitrate (EOAN) and diethanolammonium formate (DEOAF), have been studied. The phase diagrams were constructed for concentrations from 10 wt% to 80 wt% amphiphile, in the temperature range 25 °C to >100 °C. Lyotropic liquid crystalline phases (hexagonal, cubic and lamellar) were formed at high surfactant concentrations (typically >50 wt%), whereas at <40 wt%, only micelles or polydisperse crystals were present. With the exception of Brij 97, the thermal stability of the phases formed by these surfactants persisted to temperatures above 100 °C. The phase behaviour of amphiphile-PIL systems was interpreted by considering the PIL cohesive energy, liquid nanoscale order, polarity and ionicity. For comparison the phase behaviour of the four amphiphiles was also studied in water.  相似文献

Oleyl oleate (OE), a liquid wax ester, has been reported as a potential raw material for cosmetic and pharmaceutical uses but little is known about its phase behavior in ternary systems. Two types of nonionic surfactants were selected, namely, Tween‐60 (T60) and Span 20 (S20). Phase diagrams of OE/T60/water and OE/S20/water systems were constructed at 25.0±0.5°C. Ternary phase diagrams of OE/T60∶S20 (20∶80 and 60∶40)/water systems were then constructed at the same temperature. The ratios of 80∶20 and 60∶40 of T60∶S20 were selected due to different solubility points of the surfactants in water. The results showed that the oleyl oleate with mixed surfactants system, OE/T60∶S20 (20∶80 and 60∶40)/water, gave better performance than the individual surfactant systems. The high percent of T60 of 80∶20 in the T60∶S20 system contributes to enlargement of the isotropic region. In contrast, by increasing the percent of S20 of 60∶40 in T60∶S20 contributes to a larger liquid crystalline region.  相似文献

A method for piroxicam determination based on adsorptive stripping voltammetric techniques, using conventional and chemically modified carbon paste electrodes in micellar media, is described. The employed surfactants were sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), Triton X-100, Triton X-405, Tween 80 and Brij 30. However, the purpose of this paper is, at present, to research the use of surfactants as carbon paste modifier because one of the mechanisms of hydrophobic drugs ad-accumulation on the carbon paste electrode is based on the chemical affinity. Besides, because of the water piroxicam insolubility, a special aqueous medium, such as a surfactant solution above its c.m.c. was used, this micellar media being very advantageous in relation to the use of organic or aqueous-organic media, in order to dissolve the studied drug and to remove the problems derived from the organic solvents use. In addition, a piroxicam ad-accumulation increase, on surfactant modified carbon paste electrode, with the surfactant mass incorporated into the electrode, was observed.  相似文献

Steric stabilization of colloids forms a robust mechanism to obtain colloids that are stable in a variety of environments, and that can be used to study the phase behavior of hard or soft spheres. We report the synthesis of sterically stabilized colloids in an aqueous environment using readily dissolvable surfactants, with an unsaturated hydrophobic tail. We synthesized a new surfactant by esterification of a poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) chain of 4.1 kg/mol with oleic acid, called PEG4OA. The micellization of PEG4OA was characterized by light and neutron scattering, which yielded values for the aggregation number and the overall size that are in excellent agreement with a comparable surfactant with a saturated octadecane chain, Brij 700. We successfully used PEG4OA in the emulsion polymerization of polystyrene colloids. In comparison with the smaller surfactant Tween 80, PEG4OA yielded smaller colloids with radii around 50 nm, and the addition of 1-dodecanethiol reduced the formation of aggregates during the synthesis. A contrast variation study with small angle neutron scattering (SANS) showed that a dense PEG layer was grafted to the colloid surface.  相似文献

Nonionic surfactants such as Tween 80 are used commercially to minimize protein loss through adsorption and aggregation and preserve native structure and activity. However, the specific mechanisms underlying Tween action in this context are not well understood. Here, we describe the interaction of the well-characterized, globular protein lysozyme with Tween 80 at solid–water interfaces. Hydrophilic and silanized, hydrophobic silica surfaces were used as substrates for protein and surfactant adsorption, which was monitored in situ, with ellipsometry. The method of lysozyme and Tween introduction to the surfaces was varied in order to identify the separate roles of protein, surfactant, and the protein–surfactant complex in the observed interfacial behavior. At the hydrophobic surface, the presence of Tween in the protein solution resulted in a reduction in amount of protein adsorbed, while lysozyme adsorption at the hydrophilic surface was entirely unaffected by the presence of Tween. In addition, while a Tween pre-coat prevented lysozyme adsorption on the hydrophobic surface, such a pre-coat was completely ineffective in reducing adsorption on the hydrophilic surface. These observations were attributed to surface-dependent differences in Tween binding strength and emphasize the importance of the direct interaction between surfactant and solid surface relative to surfactant–protein association in solution in the modulation of protein adsorption by Tween 80.  相似文献

The synergistic effect of a new combination of Tween 80 and sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate (SDBS) surfactants has been studied for wettability alteration of a reservoir rock. The contact angle decreased substantially for the aqueous solution of the mixed surfactant on a crude oil aged quartz substrate when compared to water and individual surfactants viz. SDBS and Tween 80. This established synergism between anionic and non-ionic surfactants. The optimal salinity for reduction of the contact angle has been figured out. The rheological effect of the mixed surfactant solution on the wettability alteration has been investigated. Adsorption of crude components at the solid–fluid interfaces has been observed to visualize the activity at the micro scale. Quantification of adsorption for the mixed surfactant on sand has been studied to meet the economical aspect. Reaction aspects of the mixed surfactant–quartz–crude oil system have been interpreted from FTIR. Functional groups present in the system have also been enquired.  相似文献

The phase diagram of Brij 97/water/IPM systems was determined at 25 degrees C. Rich liquid crystalline phases including Lalpha, H1, and cubic Fd3m phases were identified by means of small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS). Microstructure transitions of liquid crystals with changes in surfactant concentration and oil content are explained qualitatively by the surfactant packing parameter (vL/aSlc). Dynamic rheological results indicate that all three kinds of liquid crystals investigated show high elasticity. The lamellar, Lalpha, phases formed in Brij 97/water with two different oils, oleic acid and geraniol, were also studied in comparison with those of Brij 97/water/IPM systems. The strength of the network of lamellar phases formed in Brij 97/water/oleic acid and Brij 97/water/geraniol systems are appreciably stronger than for Brij 97/water/IPM systems, indicated by the smaller area of surfactant molecules at the interface and the higher moduli (G' and G').  相似文献

Nonionic surfactants containing a polyoxyethylene headgroup are known to slowly undergo oxidative degradation when exposed to air. The oxidation, which starts by abstraction of a hydrogen atom from a methylene group in alpha-position to an ether oxygen, is accelerated by metal ions. Silver ion mediated oxidation of a technical grade surfactant of this type, Brij 30, was investigated in two types of self-assembled systems, a water-in-oil microemulsion and a liquid crystalline phase. It was found that in both systems the longer homologues, i.e., the surfactant homologues that carry a longer polyoxyethylene chain, decompose faster than the shorter homologues. This trend was found to be more pronounced when the surfactant is present in a liquid crystal than in a microemulsion. The difference is explained in terms of differences in accessibility of the polyoxyethylene chains to the silver ions.  相似文献

This study investigated the enhanced desorption of hexachlorobenzene (HCB) from spiked kaolin by single and mixed surfactants. The sorption of surfactants on kaolin followed myristyl pyridinium bromide (MPB) > Tween 80 > sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonic (SDBS). The desorption of HCB by single surfactant increased linearly with the increase of the aqueous micelle concentrations. The potential to enhance HCB desorption was Tween 80 > SDBS > MPB. When the dual mixed surfactants of SDBS-Tween 80 (MPB-Tween 80) were present, the desorption of HCB was larger than that by single SDBS (MPB) and less than that by single Tween 80. The total adsorbed surfactants were kept almost constant in SDBS-Tween 80 but decreased with the increased fraction of Tween 80 above 0.5 in MPB-Tween 80. The presence of little MPB in Tween 80 highly reduced the sorption loss of Tween 80 but slightly decreased the desorption of HCB. Whereas in SDBS-MPB, the presence of little MPB in SDBS remarkably decreased the desorption of HCB and enhanced the loss of SDBS, while the addition of little SDBS in MPB significantly enhanced the desorption and reduced the loss of MPB.  相似文献

The interfacial tensions and dilational properties of adsorbed films of two non-ionic surfactants with different hydrophobic groups, polyoxy-ethylene sorbitan stearate (Tween 60) and polyoxy-ethylene sorbitan monooleate (Tween 80), at the water–decane interface have been investigated by the drop-shape analysis method. The effects of dilational frequency and bulk concentration on the interfacial properties were expounded. The influence of low temperature on the interfacial tensions and dilational properties have also been researched. The experiment results show that the interfacial activity of Tween 80 is rather large compared with Tween 60. The minimum area per molecule at the water–decane interface (Amin) value of Tween 80 is little large than that of Tween 60, which is due to the steric effect of unsaturated double bond in Tween 80 molecule. The dilational data show that the ethylene oxide groups of non-ionic surfactant form a stable sub-layer, which results in the increase of modulus and the decrease of phase angle for both Tween 60 and Tween 80 than those of common ionic surfactants. Moreover, the unsaturated hydrophobic group of Tween 80 is much flexible, which is easily crosslinked and entangled. Therefore, dilational modulus of Tween 80 is higher and phase angle is lower than that of Tween 60. Low temperature decreases the flexibility of unsaturated hydrophobic group and lessens the influence on the interaction of saturated hydrophobic group. Saturated surfactant molecules of Tween 60 almost lose temperature response.  相似文献

Effectiveness of a microbial biosurfactant, sophorolipid, was evaluated in washing and biodegradation of model hydrocarbons and crude oil in soil. Thirty percent of 2-methylnaphthalene was effectively washed and solubilized with 10 g/L of sophorolipid with similar or higher efficiency than that of commercial surfactants. Addition of sophorolipid in soil increased biodegradation of model compounds: 2-methylnaphthalene (95% degradation in 2 days), hexadecane (97%, 6 days), and pristane (85%, 6 days). Also, effective biodegradation method of crude oil in soil was observed by the addition of sophorolipid, resulting in 80% biodegradation of saturates and 72% aromatics in 8 weeks. These results showed the potentials of the microbial biosurfactant, sophorolipid, as an effective surfactant for soil washing and as an in situ biodegradation enhancer.  相似文献

Oscillating reactions often employed to mimic and understand complex dynamics in biological systems are known to be affected in aggregated host environments. The dynamic evolution of the oscillatory Belousov–Zhabotinsky (BZ) reaction upon addition of increasing amounts of anionic (sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate; SDBS), cationic (hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide; CTAB), nonionic (polyoxyethylene(20) cetyl ether; Brij58), and binary mixtures (CTAB + Brij58 and SDBS + Brij58) of surfactants was monitored using potentiometry at 25 and 35°C under stirred batch conditions. The experimental results reveal that the oscillatory parameters of the Ce(IV)‐catalyzed BZ reaction are significantly altered depending on the concentration and nature of restricted micellar host environments. In the presence of ionic surfactants, it is proposed that the evolution of the oscillatory BZ system may be due to atypical proficiency (related to hydrophobic and electrostatic interactions) of such organized self‐assemblies to affect the reactivity by selectively confiscating some key reacting species. However, the response of the BZ system to nonionic Brij58 was attributed to the reaction among the alcoholic functional groups of the surfactant with some vital species of the BZ reaction. Moreover, the nonionic + ionic binary surfactant systems exhibited behaviors representative of both the constitutive single surfactant systems.  相似文献
