We establish Fredholm criteria and index formulas for one-dimensional zero-order pseudodifferential operators with piecewise continuous generating functions onL p spaces with Muckenhoupt weights. The Fredholm symbol of such operators is shown to be a matrix function defined on a set which, roughly speaking, is a cylinder with a certain collection of horn shaped handles. The presence of these horns implies that, unlike the case ofL p spaces without weight or with so-called power weights, the spectrum may contain heavy parts, i. e. the set of the interior points of the spectrum need not be empty. Our proof makes essential use of recent results by Finck, Roch, Silbermann, Gohberg, and Krupnik on the inverse closedness of certain Banach algebras.Research supported by the Alfried Krupp Förderpreis für junge Hochschullehrer of the Krupp Foundation.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to the question to obtain (algebraic and topologic) equivalence (after extension) relations between convolution type operators on unions of intervals and convolution type operators on the half-line. These operators are supposed to act between Bessel potential spaces,H s,p , which are the appropriate spaces in several applications. The present approach is based upon special properties of convenient projectors, decompositions and extension operators and the construction of certain homeomorphisms between the kernels of the projectors. The main advantage of the method is that it provides explicit operator matrix identities between the mentioned operators where the relations are constructed only by bounded invertible operators. So they are stronger than the (algebraic) Kuijper-Spitkovsky relation and the Bastos-dos Santos-Duduchava relation with respect to the transfer of properties on the prize that the relations depend on the orders of the spaces and hold only for non-critical orders:S – 1/p . For instance, (generalized) inverses of the operators are explicitly represented in terms of operator matrix factorization. Some applications are presented. This research was supported by Junta Nacional de Investigação Científica e Tecnológica (Portugal) and the Bundesminister für Forschung und Technologie (Germany) within the projectSingular Operators-new features and applications, and by a PRAXIS XXI project under the titleFactorization of Operators and Applications to Mathematical Physics.  相似文献

Very few Banach spaces E are known for which the lattice of closed ideals in the Banach algebra of all (bounded, linear) operators on E is fully understood. Indeed, up to now the only such Banach spaces are, up to isomorphism, Hilbert spaces and the sequence spaces c0 and ?p for 1?p<∞. We add a new member to this family by showing that there are exactly four closed ideals in for the Banach space E?(⊕?2n)c0, that is, E is the c0-direct sum of the finite-dimensional Hilbert spaces ?21,?22,…,?2n,… .  相似文献

LetB be the Banach algebra of all bounded linear operators on the weighted Lebesgue spaceL p (T, ) with an arbitrary Muckenhoupt weight on the unit circleT, and the Banach subalgebra ofB generated by the operators of multiplication by piecewise continuous coefficients and the operatorse h,S T e h, –1 I (hR, T) whereS T is the Cauchy singular integral operator ande h,(t)=exp(h(t+)/(t–)),tT. The paper is devoted to a symbol calculus, Fredholm criteria and an index formula for the operators in the algebra and its matrix analogue . These shift-invariant algebras arise naturally in studying the algebras of singular integral operators with coefficients admitting semi-almost periodic discontinuities and shifts being diffeomorphisms ofT onto itself with second Taylor derivatives.Partially supported by CONACYT grant, Cátedra Patrimonial, No. 990017-EX and by CONACYT project 32726-E, México.  相似文献

The known model of aj-unitary node with a givenj-inner characteristic matrix functionW is obtained from the known model of a unitary node with a given bi-inner characteristic matrix functionS, using the Potapov-Ginzburg transforms of the nodes and their characteristic functionsW andS. We show that some new properties of the L. de Branges reproducing kernal Hilbert spaces (W) which were discovered by H. Dym are characteristic properties of these spaces.  相似文献

The standard problem of radiation transfer in a bounded regionG n can be reformulated as a weakly singular integral equation with an unknown functionu: GC(S n–1) and a kernelK: ((G × G }x=y}, which is continuously differentiable with respect to the operator strong convergence topology. We take these observations into the basis of an abstract treatment of weakly singular integral equations with (E)-valued kernels, whereE is a Banach space. Our purpose is to characterize the smoothness of the solution by proving that it belongs to special weighted spaces of smooth functions. On the way, realizing the proof techniques, we establish the compactness of the integral operator or its square inL p (G,E),BC(G,E), and other spaces of interest in numerical analysis as well as in weighted spaces of smooth functions. The smoothness results are specified for the standard problem of radiation transfer as well as for the corresponding eigenvalue problem.  相似文献

The paper is devoted to study of singular integral operators with fixed singularities at endpoints of contours on weighted Lebesgue spaces with general Muckenhoupt weights. Compactness of certain integral operators with fixed singularities is established. The membership of singular integral operators with fixed singularities to Banach algebras of singular integral operators on weighted Lebesgue spaces with slowly oscillating Muckenhoupt weights is proved on the basis of Balakrishnans formula from the theory of strongly continuous semi-groups of closed linear operators. Symbol calculus for such operators, Fredholm criteria and index formulas are obtained.  相似文献

General results saying that a point x of the unit sphere S(E) of a Köthe space E is an extreme point (a strongly extreme point) [an SU-point] of B(E) if and only if ‖x‖ is an extreme point (a strongly extreme point) [an SU-point] of B(E+) and ‖x‖ is a UM-point (a ULUM-point) [nothing more] of E are proved. These results are applied to get criteria for extreme points and SU-points of the unit ball in Caldern-Lozanovski spaces which refer to problem XII from [5]. Strongly extreme points in these spaces are also discussed.  相似文献

Let Mp,q denote the modulation space with parameters p,q∈[1,∞]. If 1/p1+1/p2=1+1/p0 and 1/q1+1/q2=1/q0, then it is proved that . The result is used to get inclusions between modulation spaces, Besov spaces and Schatten classes in calculus of Ψdo (pseudo-differential operators), and to extend the definition of Toeplitz operators. We also discuss continuity of ambiguity functions and Ψdo in the framework of modulation spaces.  相似文献

Summary In the paper a discrete analog to the Volterra nonlinear integral equation is discussed. Weighted norms are used to find sufficient conditions that all solutions of such equations are elements of anl p space. Some generalizations ofl p spaces are also considered and the corresponding sufficient conditions are established.  相似文献

We investigate some subtle and interesting phenomena in the duality theory of operator spaces and operator algebras, and give several applications of the surprising fact that certain maps are always weak*-continuous on dual spaces. In particular, if X is a subspace of a C*-algebra A, and if aA satisfies aXX, then we show that the function x?ax on X is automatically weak* continuous if either (a) X is a dual operator space, or (b) a*XX and X is a dual Banach space. These results hinge on a generalization to Banach modules of Tomiyama's famous theorem on contractive projections onto a C*-subalgebra. Applications include a new characterization of the σ-weakly closed (possibly nonunital and nonselfadjoint) operator algebras, and a generalization of the theory of W*-modules to the framework of modules over such algebras. We also give a Banach module characterization of σ-weakly closed spaces of operators which are invariant under the action of a von Neumann algebra.  相似文献

Let A and B be (not necessarily unital or closed) standard operator algebras on complex Banach spaces X and Y, respectively. For a bounded linear operator A on X, the peripheral spectrum σπ(A) of A is the set σπ(A)={zσ(A):|z|=maxωσ(A)|ω|}, where σ(A) denotes the spectrum of A. Assume that Φ:AB is a map the range of which contains all operators of rank at most two. It is shown that the map Φ satisfies the condition that σπ(BAB)=σπ(Φ(B)Φ(A)Φ(B)) for all A,BA if and only if there exists a scalar λC with λ3=1 and either there exists an invertible operator TB(X,Y) such that Φ(A)=λTAT-1 for every AA; or there exists an invertible operator TB(X,Y) such that Φ(A)=λTAT-1 for every AA. If X=H and Y=K are complex Hilbert spaces, the maps preserving the peripheral spectrum of the Jordan skew semi-triple product BAB are also characterized. Such maps are of the form A?UAU or A?UAtU, where UB(H,K) is a unitary operator, At denotes the transpose of A in an arbitrary but fixed orthonormal basis of H.  相似文献

We study convolution operators in Bessel potential spaces and (fractional) Sobolev spaces over a finite interval. The main purpose of the investigation is to find conditions on the convolution kernel or on a Fourier symbol of these operators under which the solutions inherit higher regularity from the data. We provide conditions which ensure the transmission property for the finite interval convolution operators between Bessel potential spaces and Sobolev spaces. These conditions lead to smoothness preserving properties of operators defined in the above-mentioned spaces where the kernel, cokernel and, therefore, indices do not depend on the order of differentiability. In the case of invertibility of the finite interval convolution operator, a representation of its inverse is presented in terms of the canonical factorization of a related Fourier symbol matrix function.  相似文献

In cone uniform spaces X, using the concept of the D-family of cone pseudodistances, the distance between two not necessarily convex or compact sets A and B in X is defined, the concepts of cyclic and noncyclic set-valued dynamic systems of D-relatively quasi-asymptotic contractions T:AB→2AB are introduced and the best approximation and best proximity point theorems for such contractions are proved. Also conditions are given which guarantee that for each starting point each generalized sequence of iterations of these contractions (in particular, each dynamic process) converges and the limit is a best proximity point. Moreover, D-families are constructed, characterized and compared. The results are new for set-valued and single-valued dynamic systems in cone uniform, cone locally convex and cone metric spaces. Various examples illustrating ideas, methods, definitions and results are constructed.  相似文献

In this paper, which is a continuation of [73] part I, explicit solutions of two mixed b.v.ps. for the vectorial Lamé equation with DDT/DDT data, TTD/TTD data, resp., given on a system ofN=2 parallel screen-crack half-planes, are derived by explicit calculation of the factors of the corresponding (residual)L 2-lifted nonrational 6×6 Wiener-Hopf-Fouriersymbol matrices, which were scalarized ton-part form (n=6) structures For a single screen two WHOs closely related to theRawlins problem and the impedance problem for the (scalar) Helmholtz equation are established to be Fredholm operators, the second when assuming the regularity higher thanH 1 i.e. H 1+, 0<<1/2. The WHO of theN-screen Dirichlet (and Neumann) problem for the Helmholtz equation is shown to be invertible by an operator Neumann series, even for small distances between the half-planes.Dedicated to Professor W. A Hilbert space operator AB(H) is p-hyponormal, A∈(p-H), if |A|2p?|A|2p; an invertible operator AB(H) is log-hyponormal, A∈(?-H), if log(TT)?log(TT). Let dAB=δAB or ?AB, where δABB(B(H)) is the generalised derivation δAB(X)=AX-XB and ?ABB(B(H)) is the elementary operator ?AB(X)=AXB-X. It is proved that if A,B∈(?-H)∪(p-H), then, for all complex λ, , the ascent of (dAB-λ)?1, and dAB satisfies the range-kernel orthogonality inequality ‖X‖?‖X-(dAB-λ)Y‖ for all X∈(dAB-λ)-1(0) and YB(H). Furthermore, isolated points of σ(dAB) are simple poles of the resolvent of dAB. A version of the elementary operator E(X)=A1XA2-B1XB2 and perturbations of dAB by quasi-nilpotent operators are considered, and Weyl’s theorem is proved for dAB.  相似文献
