In this paper a rank 12 even lattice C is constructed which is type 3 (if v ϵ C then (v, v) ⩾ 6), and which has the following maximality property: CC + 3 · Λ24 can be embedded in the Leech lattice Λ24, and is a maximal type 3 sublattice of Λ24. It is well known that the calculus of reflections (developed by Hjelmslev, Bachmann et?al.) enables the derivation of a large part of Euclidean and non-Euclidean geometry without using assumptions about order and continuity. We show in this article that the calculus of reflections can conversely be used to introduce a relation of order in hyperbolic geometry. Our investigations are based on the famous ??Endenrechnung?? of Hilbert which was formulated purely in terms of the calculus of reflections by F. Bachmann. We then discuss some implications of these results and show that the calculus of reflections enables (1) the introduction of an order relation in a Pappian projective line and (2) to define an axiom system for hyperbolic planes which seems to be as simple as the famous axiom system of Menger who only used the notion of point-line incidence to axiomatize plane hyperbolic geometry.  相似文献

Direct product rings have received relatively little attention, perhaps because they are sometimes labeled “trivial” [8, p.6]. Nevertheless, the 2-dimensional direct product ring of the reals, when expressed in the “hyperbolic basis”, is analogous in many ways to the system of complex numbers and also has a physical interpretation. This prompted an exploratory foray into the world ofn-dimensional direct product rings of the reals to see how much can be extended from the 2-dimensional case (see, e.g. [3,4,5]). Section 1 provides algebraic notation, up to the point of defining polar coordinates. Section 2 uses analysis to explore differentiability and conformality.  相似文献

In this paper, we construct the moduli space of reduced hyperbolic compact complex spaces. First, we prove an infinitesimal characterization of hyperbolicity using a family of Kobayashi–Royden pseudo-metrics introduced by Venturini and as a consequence we conclude that the property of Landau holds for complex spaces. Finally, we establish this moduli space in the case of locally trivial deformations, and in a more general situation, the case of equisingular deformations.  相似文献

Symmetric designs and Hadamard matrices are used to construct binary and ternary self‐dual codes. Orthogonal designs are shown to be useful in construction of self‐dual codes over large fields. In this paper, we first introduce a new array of order 12, which is suitable for any set of four amicable circulant matrices. We apply some orthogonal designs of order 12 to construct new self‐dual codes over large finite fields, which lead us to the odd Leech lattice by Construction A. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
