The tensor analyzing power components T20 and T21 have been measured in elastic electron-deuteron scattering at the 2 GeV electron storage ring VEPP-3, Novosibirsk, in a four-momentum transfer range from 8.4 to 21.6 fm(-2). A new polarized internal gas target with an intense cryogenic atomic beam source was used. The new data determine the deuteron form factors G(C) and G(Q) in an important range of momentum transfer where the first node of the deuteron monopole charge form factor is located. The new results are compared with previous data and with some theoretical predictions. 相似文献

Tensor polarization observables ( t(20), t(21), and t(22)) have been measured in elastic electron-deuteron scattering for six values of momentum transfer between 0.66 and 1.7 (GeV/c)(2). The experiment was performed at the Jefferson Laboratory in Hall C using the electron High Momentum Spectrometer, a specially designed deuteron magnetic channel and the recoil deuteron polarimeter POLDER. The new data determine to much larger Q2 the deuteron charge form factors G(C) and G(Q). They are in good agreement with relativistic calculations and disagree with perturbative QCD predictions. 相似文献

Inclusive inelastic electron scattering off the deuteron under 180 degrees has been studied at the S-DALINAC close to the breakup threshold at momentum transfers q=0.27 fm;{-1} and 0.74 fm;{-1} with good energy resolution sufficient to map in detail the spin flip M1 response, which governs the starting reaction pn-->dgamma of big-bang nucleosynthesis over most of the relevant temperature region. Results from potential model calculations and (for q=0.27 fm;{-1}) from pionless nuclear effective field theory are in excellent agreement with the data. 相似文献

Using 20.7 pb(-1) of e(+)e(-) annihilation data taken at sq.rt(r) = 3.671 GeV with the CLEO-c detector, precision measurements of the electromagnetic form factors of the charged pion, charged kaon, and proton have been made for timelike momentum transfer of |Q(2)| = 13.48 GeV(2) by the reaction e(+)e(-) --> h(+)h(-). The measurements are the first ever with identified pions and kaons of |Q(2)| > 4 GeV(2), with the results F(13.48 GeV(2)) = 0.075 +/- 0.008(stat) +/- 0.005(syst) and F(K)(13.48 GeV(2)) = 0.063 +/- 0.004(stat) +/- 0.001(syst). The result for the proton, assuming G(p)(E) = G(p)(M), is G(p)(M)(13.48 GeV(2)) = 0.014 +/- 0.002(stat) +/- 0.001(syst), which is in agreement with earlier results. 相似文献

Using calcium formate, alpha-Ca(DCOO)2, as a test sample, we explore how precisely deuteron quadrupole coupling (QC) and chemical shift (CS) tensors Q and sigma can currently be measured. The error limits, +/-0.09 kHz for the components of Q and +/-0.06 ppm for those of sigma, are at least three times lower than in any comparable previous experiment. The concept of a new receiver is described. A signal/noise ratio of 100 is realized in single-shot FT spectra. The measurement strategies and a detailed error analysis are presented. The precision of the measurement of Q is limited by the uncertainty of the rotation angles of the sample and that of sigma by the uncertainty of the phase correction parameters needed in FT spectroscopy. With a 4-sigma confidence, it is demonstrated for the first time that the unique QC tensor direction of a deuteron attached to a carbon deviates from the bond direction; the deviation found is (1.2+/-0.3 degrees ). Evidence is provided for intermolecular QC contributions. In terms of Q, their size is roughly 4 kHz. The deuteron QC tensors in alpha-Ca(DCOO)2 (two independent deuteron sites) are remarkable in three respects. For deuterons attached to sp2 carbons, first, the asymmetry factors eta and, second, the quadrupole coupling constants C(Q), are unusually small, eta1=0.018, eta2=0.011, and C(Q1)=(151.27+/-0.06) kHz, C(Q2)=(154.09+/-0.06) kHz. Third, the principal direction associated with the largest negative QC tensor component lies in and not, as usual, perpendicular to the molecular plane. A rationalization is provided for these observations. The CS tensors obtained are in quantitative agreement with the results of an earlier, less precise, line-narrowing multiple-pulse study of alpha-Ca(HCOO)2. The assignment proposed in that work is confirmed. Finally we argue that a further 10-fold increase of the measurement precision of deuteron QC tensors, and a 2-fold increase of that of CS tensors, should be possible. We indicate the measures that need to be taken. 相似文献

The dynamics structure factor S(Q,E) of liquid ammonia l-NH3 at T = 200 K and at its vapor pressure has been measured by inelastic x-ray scattering (IXS) in the 1-15 nm(-1) momentum transfer ( Q) range. Contrary to previous IXS studies on other associated liquids and glasses, in l-NH3 a large inelastic signal is observed up to Q = 15 nm(-1). This, enabling S(Q,E) measurements as a function of Q at constant E transfer, allows us to demonstrate experimentally the transition from a propagating dynamics regime, where the acoustic excitation energy linearly disperses with Q, to a high-Q regime, where it is no longer possible to observe a dominant excitation in the S(Q,E). 相似文献

We report the first measurement using a solid polarized target of the neutron electric form factor G(n)(E) via d-->(e-->,e(')n)p. G(n)(E) was determined from the beam-target asymmetry in the scattering of longitudinally polarized electrons from polarized deuterated ammonia ( 15ND3). The measurement was performed in Hall C at Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility in quasifree kinematics with the target polarization perpendicular to the momentum transfer. The electrons were detected in a magnetic spectrometer in coincidence with neutrons in a large solid angle segmented detector. We find G(n)(E) = 0.04632+/-0.00616(stat)+/-0.00341(syst) at Q2 = 0.495 (GeV/c)(2). 相似文献

The electric form factor of the neutron was determined from measurements of the d-->(e-->,e'n)p reaction for quasielastic kinematics. Polarized electrons were scattered off a polarized deuterated ammonia (15ND3) target in which the deuteron polarization was perpendicular to the momentum transfer. The scattered electrons were detected in a magnetic spectrometer in coincidence with neutrons in a large solid angle detector. We find G(n)(E)=0.0526+/-0.0033(stat)+/-0.0026(sys) and 0.0454+/-0.0054+/-0.0037 at Q(2)=0.5 and 1.0 (GeV/c)(2), respectively. 相似文献

The (2)H(e,e'p)n cross section at a momentum transfer of 3.5 (GeV/c)(2) was measured over a kinematical range that made it possible to study this reaction for a set of fixed missing momenta as a function of the neutron recoil angle θ(nq) and to extract missing momentum distributions for fixed values of θ(nq) up to 0.55 GeV/c. In the region of 35°≤θ(nq)≤45° recent calculations, which predict that final-state interactions are small, agree reasonably well with the experimental data. Therefore, these experimental reduced cross sections provide direct access to the high momentum component of the deuteron momentum distribution in exclusive deuteron electrodisintegration. 相似文献

We report new measurements of the neutron charge form factor at low momentum transfer using quasielastic electrodisintegration of the deuteron. Longitudinally polarized electrons at an energy of 850 MeV were scattered from an isotopically pure, highly polarized deuterium gas target. The scattered electrons and coincident neutrons were measured by the Bates Large Acceptance Spectrometer Toroid (BLAST) detector. The neutron form factor ratio GEn/GMn was extracted from the beam-target vector asymmetry AedV at four-momentum transfers Q2=0.14, 0.20, 0.29, and 0.42 (GeV/c)2. 相似文献

Recent data allow a new parametrization of the neutron charge form factor GnE. A parameter-free quark-model relation between GnE and the N-->Delta quadrupole form factor G(N-->Delta)C2 is used to predict G(N-->Delta)C2 from GnE data. In particular, is related to N-->Delta quadrupole moment Q(N-->Delta), while connects to the N-->Delta quadrupole transition radius Delta)>. From the latter we derive an experimental value for the charge radius of the light constituent quarks r(gamma(q)) = 0.8 fm. Finally, the C2/M1 ratio in pion electroproduction is predicted from the elastic neutron form factor data. 相似文献

Leading electroweak corrections play an important role in precision measurements of the strange form factors. We calculate the two-photon-exchange (TPE) and gammaZ-exchange corrections to the parity-violating asymmetry of the elastic electron-proton scattering in a simple hadronic model including the finite size of the proton. We find both can reach a few percent and are comparable in size with the current experimental measurements of strange-quark effects in the proton neutral weak current. The effect of gammaZ exchange is in general larger than that of TPE, especially at low momentum transfer Q2=1 GeV2. Their combined effects on the values of G(E)s + beta G(M)s [corrected] extracted in recent experiments can be as large as -40% in certain kinematics. 相似文献

The acoustic branch of two network glasses, (Li2O)xB2O3 ( x = 0.25 and 0.5), is followed over a large momentum transfer range 1-12 nm(-1), using inelastic x-ray scattering. We observe the transition from propagating modes to a region of strong scattering as the Ioffe-Regel limit is reached. A region of Rayleigh scattering of the acoustic modes precedes the strong scattering regime at larger Q, causing a rapid decrease of the mean-free path of the modes. 相似文献

vector field, which describes the deuteron on the boundary and fix the infrared boundary cut-off of AdS space in accordance with the ground state mass of the deuteron. We obtain the deuteron charge monopole, quadrupole, and magnetic dipole form factors and tensor polarization observables from the bulk Lagrangians for the deuteron and photon field interactions. We plot the momentum transfer dependence of the form factors and tensor polarization observables and compare our numerical results with those in the soft-wall model and experimental data. 相似文献

We have measured the nuclear transparency of the A(e,e'pi+) process in 2H, 12C, 27Al, 63Cu, and 197Au targets. These measurements were performed at the Jefferson Laboratory over a four momentum transfer squared range Q2=1.1 to 4.7 (GeV/c)2. The nuclear transparency was extracted as the super-ratio of (sigmaA/sigmaH) from data to a model of pion-electroproduction from nuclei without pi-N final-state interactions. The Q2 and atomic number dependence of the nuclear transparency both show deviations from traditional nuclear physics expectations and are consistent with calculations that include the quantum chromodynamical phenomenon of color transparency. 相似文献

We report on a measurement of the parity violating asymmetry in the elastic scattering of polarized electrons off unpolarized protons with the A4 apparatus at MAMI in Mainz at a four momentum transfer value of Q(2)=0.108 (GeV/c)(2) and at a forward electron scattering angle of 30 degrees p)=[-1.36+/-0.29(stat)+/-0.13(syst)]x10(-6). The expectation from the standard model assuming no strangeness contribution to the vector current is A(0)=(-2.06+/-0.14)x10(-6). We have improved the statistical accuracy by a factor of 3 as compared to our previous measurements at a higher Q2. We have extracted the strangeness contribution to the electromagnetic form factors from our data to be G(s)(E)+0.106G(s)(M)=0.071+/-0.036 at Q(2)=0.108 (GeV/c)(2). We again find the value for G(s)(E)+0.106G(s)(M) to be positive, this time at an improved significance level of two sigma. 相似文献
