Investigation of supramolecular inclusion complexes with β-cyclodextrin of 1-(2-ethoxyethyl)-4-(pentyn-1-yl)-4-hydroxypiperidine and 1-(2-ethoxyethyl)-4-(pentyn-1-yl)-4-benzoyloxypiperidine oxalate by NMR spectroscopy

A comparative analysis of ¹H and ¹³C NMR spectra of 1-(2-ethoxyethyl)-4-(pentyn-1-yl)-4-hydroxypiperidine, 1-(2-ethoxyethyl)-4-(pentyn-1-yl)-4-benzoyloxypiperidine oxalate and their inclusion complexes with β-cyclodextrin was performed. The differences in values of chemical shifts of ¹H and ¹³C nuclei of the substrates and the receptor in the inclusion complexes were determined. It was found that the formation of complexes of 1-(2-ethoxyethyl)-4-(pentyn-1-yl)-4-hydroxypiperidine and 1-(2-ethoxyethyl)-4-(pentyn-1-yl)-4-benzoyloxypiperidine oxalate with β-cyclodextrin was accompanied by insertion of one N-ethoxyethyl fragment of the substrate molecule into the inner sphere of one molecule of the receptor.     

Synthesis and mesomorphic properties of 4-(4-bromopropyloxy)-4’-(4-alkyloxybenzylidene)anilines

This article describes the preparation and liquid crystalline properties of a new homologous series of 4-（4-bromopropyloxy）-4’- （4-alkyloxybenzylidene）anilines in which the phenyl ring is armed by a bromopropyloxy chain.The thermal behavior and mesomorphic properties of the synthesized compounds were studied with particular attention given to the correlation between their phase transition temperatures and anisotropic change influenced by molecular structure.All the members displayed enantiotropic smectic phase except for the homologue with the longest alkyloxy chain(R = C₁₈H₃₇),exhibiting only monotropic characteristic. The presence of bromine atom from the propyloxy side chain is found to be capable of altering and influencing the mesomorphic properties.

Low-temperature dynamics of (S)-4-(1-methylheptyloxy)-4ʹ-cyanobiphenyl (8*OCB) and (S)-4-(2-methylbutyl)-4ʹ-cyanobiphenyl (5*CB) in disordered crystalline and glassy phases

The inelastic neutron scattering (INS) spectra were measured for two materials of chiral molecules: (S)-4-(1-methylheptyloxy)-4?-cyanobiphenyl (8*OCB) and (S)-4-(2-methylbutyl)-4?-cyanobiphenyl (5*CB), revealing solid state polymorphism with two partially disordered crystalline phases I and II and glassy state of liquid and of crystalline phase in each substance. The experiments were performed in the energy range up to 30 µeV in the temperature range from 4 to 35 K. For 8*OCB the elastic scans were measured as well up to 300 K illustrating well the phase diagram. For all solid phases of both substances in the µeV range of INS spectra, the existence of the excess density of vibrational states over that typical for fully ordered crystalline phases was evidenced. Contribution of this so-called boson peak occurred to be much larger in glass of isotropic phase than in the phase II and glass of phase I of 8*OCB, while for 5*CB it was larger in the phase I and glass of phase II than in glass of cholesteric phase. The quasi-elastic broadening of elastic peak corresponding to stochastic reorientations in the ns time scale was detected for both substances. Comparison of the results obtained for glassy and crystalline phases of 8*OCB and 5*CB compounds have been given and confronted with those obtained previously in meV energy range.     

Synthesis of 2-(Substituted Benzylideneamino)-4-(4′-hydroxyphenyl) Thiazoles and Their O-Glucosides

2-Amino-4-(4′-hydroxyphenyl) thiazole 1a was prepared from reaction between p-hydroxyacetophenone, thiourea, and iodine; compound 1a was treated with several (aryl/hetro aryl) aldehydes to form 2-(substituted benzylideneamino)-4-(4′-hydroxyphenyl) thiazoles 2a–j, which were glucosylated by using acetobromoglucose as a glucosyl donor to afford 2-(substituted benzylideneamino)-4-(2, 3, 4, 6-tetera-o-acetyl-4′-o-β-d-glucosidoxyphenyl) thiazoles 3a–j, which further on during deacetylation produced 2-(substituted benzylideneamino)-4-(4′-o-β-d-glucosidoxyphenyl) thiazoles 4a–j. These compounds were evaluated for biological activity, and their structure was confirmed by IR, NMR, mass spectra, elemental, and chemical analysis.

     

Synthesis,mesomorphic and dielectric properties of 4-(cyanomethoxy)phenyl 4-alkoxybenzoates, 4-(cyanomethoxy)-4′-alkoxyazo- and -azoxybenzenes

Preparation methods were developed for homologs of 4-(cyanomethoxy)phenyl 4-alkoxybenzoates (C₇, C₈, C₉), 4-(cyanomethoxy)-4′-alkoxyazo (C₂, C₃, C₆), -azoxybenzenes (C₃, C₆) whose composition and structure were proved by elemental analysis and ¹H NMR spectra. 4-(Cyanomethoxy) group destabilizes the mesophase, consequently, only four among the compounds obtained exhibit the thermotropic nematic mesomorphism.

Synthesis and Crystal Structure of 4-(Dichloroacetyl)-1-oxa-4-azaspiro[4.5]decane

<正>The title compound 4-(dichloroacetyl)-1-oxa-4-azaspiro[4. 5] decane (CAS number 71526-07-3, C10H15Cl2NO2, Mr= 252.13) was obtained by the reaction of dichloroacetic acid with 1-oxa-4-azaspiro[4. 5] decane. The crystal is of monoclinic, space group P21ln with the unit cell constants: a = 5.9619(4),b= 10.0066(8), c = 20.0986(4) A,β = 90.194(3)°, V= 1199(4) A3,Z = 4, Dc= 1.397 g/cm3, F(000) = 528, μ(MoKα) = 0.522 mm-1, R = 0.0611 and wR = 0.1656 for 1276 observed reflections (I > 2σ(I)). X-ray analysis reveals that the cyclohexyl adopts a chair conformation and the compound is a chiral one.     

Synthesis and antimicrobial activity of N'-heteroarylidene-1-adamantylcarbohydrazides and (±)-2-(1-adamantyl)-4-acetyl-5-[5-(4-substituted phenyl-3-isoxazolyl)]-1,3,4-oxadiazolines

The reaction of adamantane-1-carbohydrazide (1) with heterocyclic aldehydes, namely 5-(4-chlorophenyl)isoxazole-3-carboxaldehyde (2a), 5-(4-methylphenyl)isoxazole-3-carboxaldehyde (2b), 5-(4-methoxyphenyl)isoxazole-3-carboxaldehyde (2c), 1H-imidazole-2-carboxaldehyde and 2-butyl-4-chloro-1H-imidazole-5-carboxaldehyde, in ethanol, yielded the corresponding N'-heteroarylidene-1-adamantylcarbohydrazides 3a, 3b, 3c, 4 and 5, respectively, in good yields. The 4-acetyl-1,3,4-oxadiazoline analogues 6a?c were prepared in 48-55% yields by heating their corresponding N'-heteroarylidene-1-adamantylcarbohydrazides 3a-c with acetic anhydride for two hours. Compounds 3a-c, 4, 5 and 6a-c were tested for in vitro activities against a panel of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and the yeast-like pathogenic fungus Candida albicans. Compounds 4 and 5 displayed potent broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity, while compounds 3a-c showed good activity against the Gram-positive bacteria.

Stereoselective Synthesis and Characterization of (Z)-(−)-4-(1′-Alkoxyl-1′-alkyloxycarbonyl-methylidene)-5(R)-[(1R)-menthyloxy]-γ-butyrolactones

Abstract

A series of enantiomerically pure (Z)-(?)-4-(1′-alkyloxy-1′-alkyloxycarbonyl-methylidene)-5(R)-[(1R)-menthyloxy]-γ-butyrolactones were synthesized and characterized in good to excellent yields via O-alkylation of (4R,5R)-(?)-4-ethoxyoxalyl-5-[(1R)-menthyloxy]-γ-butyrolactone with alkyl halides in the presence of K₂CO₃ in acetone at room temperature.
