It is shown that the condition of nonadjacency of 2 and at least one odd prime in the Gruenberg-Kegel graph of a finite group G under some natural additional conditions suffices to describe the structure of G; in particular, to prove that G has a unique nonabelian composition factor. Sufficient conditions for bang-bang and singular optimal control are established in the case of linear operator equations with cost functionals which are the sum of linear and quadratic terms, that is,Ax=u,J(u)=(r,x)+(x,x), >0. We prove theorems on the lower semicontinuity and integral representations of the lower semicontinuous envelopes of integral functionals with integrands L of fast growth: c 1 G(|Du|) + c 2 L c 3 G(|Du|) + c 4 with c 3 c 1 > 0 and G : [0, [ [0, [ is an increasing convex function such that vG (v)/G(v) as v and is increasing for large v. We prove sufficient conditions for the existence of a solution of a strong nonlinear variational inequality of parabolic type. The theory can be used for solving parabolic equations with one-sided boundary conditions. We show that the averaged Dehn function with respect to each finite presentation of an arbitrary finitely generated class 2 nilpotent group is subcubic. For the finite rank 2 free class 2 nilpotent group this implies the subasymptoticity of the averaged Dehn function in the sense of M. Let E be a Banach space and E(–,] a proper lower semi-continuous convex function. The main purpose of this paper is to characterize those m-accretive operators AE x E that are also -accretive. This is done by using the semigroup S generated by -A, and by first establishing a necessary and sufficient condition for to be a Lyapunov function for S. We also obtain similar results for accretive operators that are not necessarily m-accretive, and deduce invariance and order-preserving criteria for nonlinear semigroups.This research was partially supported by the National Science Foundation under Grant MCS-8102086.  相似文献

Consider the canonical Gaussian measure N on , a probability measure on N , absolutely continuous with respect to N . We prove that the transportation cost of to N , when the cost of transporting a unit of mass fromx toy is measured by xy2, is at most d. As a consequence we obtain a completely elementary proof of a very sharp form of the concentration of measure phenomenon in Gauss space. We then prove a result of the same nature when N is replaced by the measure of density 2N exp (– iN |x i |). Summary We deal with the rounding error analysis of successive approximation iterations for the solution of large linear systemsA x =b. We prove that Jacobi, Richardson, Gauss-Seidel and SOR iterations arenumerically stable wheneverA=A *>0 andA has PropertyA. The problem of existence of wave operators for the Klein-Gordon equation ( t 2 –+2+iV1t+V2)u(x,t)=0 (x R n,t R, n3, >0) is studied where V1 and V2 are symmetric operators in L2(R n) and it is shown that conditions similar to those of Veseli-Weidmann (Journal Functional Analysis 17, 61–77 (1974)) for a different class of operators are also sufficient for the Klein-Gordon equation.  相似文献

For the approximate solution u n of this equation by the least squares method in a coordinate system {e k } k that is an orthonormal basis of eigenvectors of a self-adjoint operator B similar to A ( (B) = (A)), we give a priori estimates for the asymptotic behavior of the expressions r n = u n u and R n = Au n f as n . In this paper we study the question of uniqueness for an inverse problem, arising in the (thermal) linear and/or non-linear potential theory. The overdetermined problem we shall study is represented by(div(|u| p–2u)–D t u+)u=0where supp()R n ×(0,), 1<p<, L and {t=} is bounded for >0.The problem has applications in shape-recognition in underground water/oil recovery, subject to shape-change during time intervals.
