The compounds (NC(12)H(8)(NH)(2))[Ln(N(3)C(12)H(8))(4)], Ln = Y, Tb, Yb, and [Ln(N(3)C(12)H(8))(2)(N(3)C(12)H(9))(2)][Ln(N(3)C(12)H(8))(4)](N(3)C(12)H(9))(2), with Ln = La, Sm, Eu, were obtained by reactions of the group 3 metals yttrium and lanthanum as well as the lanthanides europium, samarium, terbium, and ytterbium with 2-(2-pyridyl)-benzimidazole. The reactions were carried out in melts of the amine without any solvent and led to two new groups of homoleptic rare earth pyridylbenzimidazolates. The trivalent rare earth atoms have an eightfold nitrogen coordination of four chelating pyridylbenzimidazolates giving an ionic structure with either pyridylbenzimidazolium or [Ln(N(3)C(12)H(8))(2)(N(3)C(12)H(9))(2)](+) counterions. With Y, Eu, Sm, and Yb, single crystals were obtained whereas the La- and Tb-containing compounds were identified by powder methods. The products were investigated by X-ray single crystal or powder diffraction and MIR and far-IR spectroscopy, and with DTA/TG regarding their thermal behavior. They are another good proof of the value of solid-state reaction methods for the formation of homoleptic pnicogenides of the lanthanides. Despite their difference in the chemical formula, both types (NC(12)H(8)(NH)(2))[Ln(N(3)C(12)H(8))(4)], Ln = Y (1), Tb (2), Yb (3), and [Ln(N(3)C(12)H(8))(2)(N(3)C(12)H(9))(2)][Ln(N(3)C(12)H(8))(4)](N(3)C(12)H(9))(2), Ln = La (4), Sm (5), Eu (6), crystallize isotypic in the tetragonal space group I4(1). Luminescence of divalent europium has been investigated for the first time in metal hydrides. A complete solid-solution series was found for the pseudobinary system Eu(x)Sr(1-x)H(2) [a = 637.6(1) pm -12.1(3)x pm, b = 387.0(1)-6.5(2)x pm, c = 732.2(2)-10.1(4)x pm]. Europium-doped alkaline-earth hydrides Eu(x)M(1-x)H(2) (M = Ca, Sr, Ba) with a small europium concentration (x = 0.005) exhibit luminescence with maximum emission wavelengths of 764 nm (M = Ca), 728 nm (M = Sr), and 750 nm (M = Ba); i.e., the emission energy of divalent europium shows an extremely large red shift compared to the emission energies of fluorides or oxides. Theoretical calculations (LDA+U) confirm decreasing band gaps with increasing europium content of the solid solutions.  相似文献

We report on the existence and formation of the carbon nitride precursor melam (H(2)N)(2)(C(3)N(3))NH(C(3)N(3))(NH(2))(2), thereby clarifying one of the last unresolved issues posed by the complex thermal condensation of melamine C(3)N(3)(NH(2))(3). Experimental proof is put forward that melam is a direct condensation product of melamine, but can be detected only in small amounts under special reaction conditions owing to its rapid transformation into melem. The coexistence of melamine and melem during thermal condensation yields two adduct phases with distinct compositions [C(3)N(3)(NH(2))(3)](2)[C(6)N(7)(NH(2))(3)] and [C(3)N(3)(NH(2))(3)][C(6)N(7)(NH(2))(3)](2). They may be considered as co-crystallizates of melamine and melem and can be isolated as intermediates between 590 and 650 K prior to the formation of single-phase melem C(6)N(7)(NH(2))(3). Melam (C2/c, a=1811.0(4), b=1086.7(2), c=1398.4(3) pm, beta=96.31(3) degrees, V=2735.3(9)x10(6) pm(3), T=130 K) adopts a ditriazinylamine-type structure with a twisted conformation about the bridging NH moiety and transforms into melem around 640 K. Two compounds deriving from melam have been synthesized by solution and solid-state reactions. The salt melamium diperchlorate C(6)N(11)H(11)(ClO(4))(2).2H(2)O (C2/c, a=1747.8(4), b=1148.2(2), c=993.6(2) pm, beta=118.79(3) degrees, V=1747.4(6)x10(6) pm(3), T=130 K) crystallizes as a dihydrate and exhibits a doubly protonated, planar melam core. In the neutral complex Zn[C(6)N(11)H(9)]Cl(2) (P2(1)/c, a=743.00(15), b=2233.2(5), c=762.5(2) pm, beta=99.86(3) degrees, V=1246.5(4)x10(6) pm(3), T=200 K), melam acts as a symmetrically bent bidentate ligand, which is coordinated to the Lewis acid Zn-site through two ring nitrogen atoms.  相似文献

A Sieverts' apparatus coupled with a residual gas analysis is used to measure the concentration variations of hydrogen isotopes in the gas and solid phases during exchange and isothermal decomposition of mixed hydrides. beta-phase palladium hydrides with known ratios of H:D, Pd(H x D 1- x ) y (0 < x < 1, y > 0.6), are prepared by H 2 with PdD y or D 2 with PdH y exchange, and their desorption isotherms are reported here at 323 K. A higher equilibrium pressure in isothermal desorption of mixed hydrides is associated with a higher ratio of D/H in the initial mixed hydrides in beta-phase. The composition of the gas desorbed from a mixed hydride varies; i.e., the ratio of D/H in gas decreases with the sum of (H + D) in Pd. The values of the separation factor alpha during desorption at 323 K and during H-D exchange at 248 K are discussed and compared with those in the literature. Desorption isotherms of mixed isotope hydrides are between those of the single isotope hydrides of H-Pd and D-Pd, however, plateaus slope more than those of pure isotope hydrides. The origin of the plateau sloping in the mixed hydrides can be attributed to the compositional variations during desorption, i.e., the equilibrium pressure is greater when D/H ratio in solid is greater. A simple model is proposed in this study that agrees well with experimental results.  相似文献

The rate constant for the reaction of OH radicals with molecular hydrogen was measured using the flash photolysis resonance-fluorescence technique over the temperature range of 200-479 K. The Arrhenius plot was found to exhibit a noticeable curvature. Careful examination of all possible systematic uncertainties indicates that this curvature is not due to experimental artifacts. The rate constant can be represented by the following expressions over the indicated temperature intervals: k(H2)(250-479 K) = 4.27 x 10(-13) x (T/298)2.406 x exp[-1240/T] cm3 molecule(-1) (s-1) above T = 250 K and k(H2)(200-250 K) = 9.01 x 10(-13) x exp[-(1526 +/- 70)/T] cm3 molecule(-1) s(-1) below T = 250 K. No single Arrhenius expression can adequately represent the rate constant over the entire temperature range within the experimental uncertainties of the measurements. The overall uncertainty factor was estimated to be f(H2)(T) = 1.04 x exp[50 x /(1/T) - (1/298)/]. These measurements indicate an underestimation of the rate constant at lower atmospheric temperatures by the present recommendations. The global atmospheric lifetime of H2 due to its reaction with OH was estimated to be 10 years.  相似文献

The system Li-V-N was studied by means of X-ray and neutron powder diffraction, thermal and chemical analyses, and XAS spectroscopy at the vanadium K-edge. Three polymorphs of Li(7)[VN(4)] have been established from X-ray and neutron powder diffraction (gamma-Li(7)[VN(4)], space group Pfourmacr;3n, No. 218, a = 960.90(4) pm, V = 887.23(6) x 10(6) pm(3), Z = 8; beta-Li(7)[VN(4)], space group Pathremacr;, No. 205, a = 959.48(3) pm, V = 883.31(5) x 10(6) pm(3), Z = 8; alpha-Li(7)[VN(4)], P4(2)/nmc, No. 137, a = 675.90(2) pm, c = 488.34(2) pm, V = 223.09(1) x 10(6) pm(3), Z = 2). Crystallographic and phase relations are discussed. All three modifications are diamagnetic, indicating vanadium in the oxidation state +5. The V-K XAS spectra support the oxidation state assignment, the non-centrosymmetric coordination (tetrahedral), and the nearly identical second coordination sphere of vanadium, made up from Li in all three phases. The 3d-related features of the spectra display strongly localized properties. The phase transitions appear to be reconstructive; no direct group-subgroup symmetry relations of the crystal structures exist. Lanthanide complexes of a tetra-amide derivative of DOTA (structure 4 in text) with four extended carboxymethyl esters have been characterized by X-ray crystallography and multinuclear NMR spectroscopy. [Eu(4)(H(2)O)](triflate)(3) crystallized from water in the monoclinic, P(21/)(c) space group (a = 10.366 A, b = 22.504 A, c = 23.975 A, and beta = 97.05 degrees ). The Eu(3+) cation is bound to four macrocyclic nitrogen atoms (mean Eu-N = 2.627 A) and four amide oxygen atoms (mean Eu-O(amide) = 2.335 A) in a square antiprismatic geometry with a twist angle of 38.5 degrees between the N4 and O4 planes. A single bound water molecule (Eu-O(W) = 2.414 A) occupies a typical monocapped position on the O4 surface. In pure water, resonances corresponding to a single Eu(3+)-bound water molecule were observed in the (1)H (53 ppm) and (17)O (-897 ppm) NMR spectra of [Eu(4)(H(2)O)](triflate)(3) at 25 degrees C. A fit of the temperature-dependent Eu(3+)-bound (1)H and (17)O water resonance line widths in acetonitrile-d(3) (containing 4% v/v (17)O enriched water) gave identical lifetimes (tau(m)(298)) of 789 +/- 50 micros (in water as solvent; a line shape analysis of the Eu(3+)-bound water resonance gave a tau(m)(298) = 382 +/- 5 micros). Slow water exchange was also evidenced by the water proton relaxivity of Gd(4) (R(1) = 2.2 mM(-1) s(-1), a value characteristic of pure outer-sphere relaxation at 25 degrees C). With increasing temperature, the inner-sphere contribution gradually increased due to accelerated chemical exchange between bound water and bulk water protons. A fitting of the relaxation data (T(1)) to standard SBM theory gave a water proton lifetime (tau(m)(298)) of 159 micros, somewhat shorter than the value determined by high-resolution (1)H and (17)O NMR of Eu(4). Exchange of the bound water protons in Gd(4) with bulk water protons was catalyzed by addition of exogenous phosphate at 25 degrees C (R(1) increased to 10.0 mM(-1) s(-1) in the presence of 1500-fold excess HPO(4)(2-)).  相似文献

The formation of mixed molybdenum-tellurium oxides MoTeO5, Mo2TeO8, Mo3TeO11, MoTe2O7 in the gas phase has been studied by mass spectrometry (MS) experiments at temperatures of about 938 K and studied theoretically by quantum chemical (QC) methods. Synthesis (hydrothermal and metathesis), characterization (UV-vis, IR, TG/DTA), single-crystal X-ray structures, and magnetic properties of three cobalt(II)-pyromellitate complexes, purple [Co(2)(pm)](n) (1), red [Co(2)(pm)(H(2)O)(4)](n) x 2nH(2)O (2), and pink [Co(H(2)O)(6)](H(2)pm) (3) (H(4)pm = pyromellitic acid (1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylic acid)), are described. 1 consists of one-dimensional chains of edge-sharing CoO(6) octahedra that are connected into layers via O-C-O bridges. The layers are held together by the pyromellitate (pm(4-)) backbone to give a three-dimensional structure, each ligand participating in an unprecedented 12 coordination bonds (Co-O) to 10 cobalt atoms. 2 consists of a three-dimensional coordination network possessing cavities in which unbound water molecules reside. This highly symmetric network comprises eight coordinate bonds (Co-O) between oxygen atoms of pm(4-) to six trans-Co(H(2)O)(2). 3 possesses a hydrogen-bonded sandwich structure associating layers of [Co(H(2)O)(6)](2+) and planar H(2)pm(2-). The IR spectra, reflecting the different coordination modes and charges of the pyromellitate, are presented and discussed. The magnetic properties of 1 indicate complex behavior with three ground states (collinear and canted antiferromagnetism and field-induced ferromagnetism). Above the Néel temperature (T(N)) of 16 K it displays paramagnetism with short-range ferromagnetic interactions (Theta = +16.4 K, mu(eff) = 4.90 mu(B) per Co). Below T(N) a weak spontaneous magnetization is observed at 12.8 K in low applied fields (H < 100 Oe). At higher fields (H > 1000 Oe) metamagnetic behavior is observed. Two types of hysteresis loops are observed; one centered about zero field and the second about the metamagnetic critical field. The critical field and the hysteresis width increase as the temperature is lowered. The heat capacity data suggest that 1 has a 2D or 3D magnetic lattice, and the derived magnetic entropy data confirm an anisotropic s(eff) = 1/2 for the cobalt(II) ion. Magnetic susceptibility data indicate that 2 and 3 are paramagnets.  相似文献

The reaction of M(ox) x 2H(2)O (M = Co(II), Ni(II)) or K(2)(Cu(ox)(2)) x 2H(2)O (ox = oxalate dianion) with n-ampy (n = 2, 3, 4; n-ampy = n-aminopyridine) and potassium oxalate monohydrate yields one-dimensional oxalato-bridged metal(II) complexes which have been characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy, variable-temperature magnetic measurements, and X-ray diffraction methods. The complexes M(mu-ox)(2-ampy)(2) (M = Co (1), Ni (2), Cu (3)) are isomorphous and crystallize in the monoclinic space group C2/c (No. 15), Z = 4, with unit cell parameters for 1 of a = 13.885(2) A, b = 11.010(2) A, c = 8.755(1) A, and beta = 94.21(2) degrees. The compounds M(mu-ox)(3-ampy)(2).1.5H(2)O (M = Co (4), Ni (5), Cu (6)) are also isomorphous and crystallize in the orthorhombic space group Pcnn (No. 52), Z = 8, with unit cell parameters for 6 of a = 12.387(1), b = 12.935(3), and c = 18.632(2) A. Compound Co(mu-ox)(4-ampy)(2) (7) crystallizes in the space group C2/c (No. 15), Z = 4, with unit cell parameters of a = 16.478(3) A, b = 5.484(1) A, c = 16.592(2) A, and beta = 117.76(1) degrees. Complexes M(mu-ox)(4-ampy)(2) (M = Ni (8), Cu (9)) crystallize in the orthorhombic space group Fddd (No. 70), Z = 8, with unit cell parameters for 8 of a = 5.342(1), b = 17.078(3), and c = 29.469(4) A. All compounds are comprised of one-dimensional chains in which M(n-ampy)(2)(2+) units are sequentially bridged by bis-bidentate oxalato ligands with M.M intrachain distances in the range of 5.34-5.66 A. In all cases, the metal atoms are six-coordinated to four oxygen atoms, belonging to two bridging oxalato ligands, and the endo-cyclic nitrogen atoms, from two n-ampy ligands, building distorted octahedral surroundings. The aromatic bases are bound to the metal atom in cis (1-6) or trans (7-9) positions. Magnetic susceptibility measurements in the temperature range of 2-300 K show the occurrence of antiferromagnetic intrachain interactions except for the compound 3 in which a weak ferromagnetic coupling is observed. Compound 7 shows spontaneous magnetization below 8 K, which corresponds to the presence of spin canted antiferromagnetism.  相似文献

The reactions of elemental indium and In(I)Br with the carbonyl-free organonickel complexes (eta(5)-C(5)H(5))(PR(3))Ni-Br (R = CH(3), C(6)H(5)) have been studied in some detail. Either redox reactions to yield the ionic products [(eta(5)-C(5)H(5))(PR(3))(2)Ni][InBr(4)] (2a,b) occurred or the Ni-In bound systems (eta(5)-C(5)H(5))(PPh(3))Ni-InBr(2)(OPPh(3)) (3a) and [(eta(5)-C(5)H(5))(PPh(3))Ni](2)InBr (4) were obtained in good yields. Six new coordination polymers, [Eu(1,2-BDC)(1,2-HBDC)(phen)(H(2)O)](n) (1), [Eu(2)(1,3-BDC)(3)(phen)(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n).4nH(2)O (2), [Eu(1,4-BDC)(3/2)(phen)(H(2)O)](n) (3), [Yb(2)(1,2-BDC)(3)(phen)(H(2)O)(2)](n).3.5nH(2)O (4), [Yb(2)(1,3-BDC)(3)(phen)(1/2)](n) (5), and [Yb(2)(1,4-BDC)(3)(phen)(2)(H(2)O)](n) (6), were synthesized by hydrothermal reactions of lanthanide chlorides with three isomers of benzenedicarboxylic acid (H(2)BDC) and 1,10-phenanthroline (phen), and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. 1 has a 2-D herringbone architecture with a Z-shaped cavity. 2 and 5 have different 3-D networks, but both are formed by 1,3-BDC anions bridging metal centers (Eu or Yb) via carboxylate groups. 3 and 6 possess similar layer structures which are further constructed to form 3-D networks by hydrogen bonds and/or pi-pi aromatic interactions. 4 comprises 1-D chains that are further interlinked via hydrogen bonds, resulting in a 3-D network. In the three europium complexes, all the europium ions are eight-coordinated, while the coordination numbers of the ytterbium ions in other three-coordination polymers range from six to eight. Aqueous solutions of rhodium(III) tetra p-sulfonatophenyl porphyrin ((TSPP)Rh(III)) complexes react with dihydrogen to produce equilibrium distributions between six rhodium species including rhodium hydride, rhodium(I), and rhodium(II) dimer complexes. Equilibrium thermodynamic studies (298 K) for this system establish the quantitative relationships that define the distribution of species in aqueous solution as a function of the dihydrogen and hydrogen ion concentrations through direct measurement of five equilibrium constants along with dissociation energies of D(2)O and dihydrogen in water. The hydride complex ([(TSPP)Rh-D(D(2)O)](-4)) is a weak acid (K(a)(298 K) = (8.0 +/- 0.5) x 10(-8)). Equilibrium constants and free energy changes for a series of reactions that could not be directly determined including homolysis reactions of the Rh(II)-Rh(II) dimer with water (D(2)O) and dihydrogen (D(2)) are derived from the directly measured equilibria. The rhodium hydride (Rh-D)(aq) and rhodium hydroxide (Rh-OD)(aq) bond dissociation free energies for [(TSPP)Rh-D(D(2)O)](-4) and [(TSPP)Rh-OD(D(2)O)](-4) in water are nearly equal (Rh-D = 60 +/- 3 kcal mol(-1), Rh-OD = 62 +/- 3 kcal mol(-1)). Free energy changes in aqueous media are reported for reactions that substitute hydroxide (OD(-)) (-11.9 +/- 0.1 kcal mol(-1)), hydride (D(-)) (-54.9 kcal mol(-1)), and (TSPP)Rh(I): (-7.3 +/- 0.1 kcal mol(-1)) for a water in [(TSPP)Rh(III)(D(2)O)(2)](-3) and for the rhodium hydride [(TSPP)Rh-D(D(2)O)](-4) to dissociate to produce a proton (9.7 +/- 0.1 kcal mol(-1)), a hydrogen atom (approximately 60 +/- 3 kcal mol(-1)), and a hydride (D(-)) (54.9 kcal mol(-1)) in water.  相似文献

Homoleptic dimeric dipyridylamide complexes of the rare earth elements are obtained by solvent-free oxidation reactions of the metals with melts of 2,2'-dipyridylamine. As the thermal stabilities of the ligand as well as the amide complexes are limiting factors in these high-temperature syntheses, several different metal activation procedures have been investigated: the formation of Ln amalgams and dissolution of the metals in liquid ammonia as well as coupling to microwaves. For comparison with a solvent that shows low solubility of the metals and products, reactions in 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline were also carried out. For all lanthanides and group 3 metals used homoleptic dimers of the formula [Ln(2)(Dpa)(6)], Ln = Ce (1), Nd (2), Sm (3), Ho (4), Er (5), Tm (6), Yb (7), and Sc (8) and Dpa- = (C5H4N)2N-, were obtained, all containing trivalent rare earth ions with a distorted square antiprismatic nitrogen coordination. Due to the large differences in the ionic radii of the metal ions, two different structure types are found that crystallize in the space groups P2(1)/c and P2(1)/n with the border of the two types being between Tm and Yb. The orientations of two 1,3/1,3-double chelating and linking dipyridylamide ligands (Dpa(-) = (C(5)H(4)N)(2)N(-)) result in different overall orientations of the dimers and thus two structure types. All compounds were identified by single-crystal X-ray analysis. Mid-IR, far IR, and Raman spectroscopy, microanalyses, and simultaneous DTA/TG as well as mass spectrometry regarding their thermal behavior were also carried out to characterize the products. Crystal data for the two types follow. We report the first solid state X-ray crystal structure for a Eu(II) chelate, [C(NH2)3]3[Eu(II)(DTPA)(H2O)].8H2O, in comparison with those for the corresponding Sr analogue, [C(NH2)3]3[Sr(DTPA)(H2O).8H2O and for [Sr(ODDA)].8H2O (DTPA5 = diethylenetriamine-N,N,N',N",N"-pentaacetate, ODDA2- =1,4,10,13-tetraoxa-7,16-diazacyclooctadecane-7,16-diacetate ). The two DTPA complexes are isostructural due to the similar ionic size and charge of Sr(2+) and Eu(2+). The redox stability of [Eu(II)(ODDA)(H2O)] and [Eu(II)(ODDM)]2- complexes has been investigated by cyclovoltammetry and UV/Vis spectrophotometry (ODDM4- =1,4,10,13-tetraoxa-7,16-diaza-cyclooctadecane-7,16-++ +dimalonate). The macrocyclic complexes are much more stable against oxidation than [Eu(II)(DTPA)(H2O)]3- (the redox potentials are E1/2 =-0.82 V, -0.92 V, and -1.35 V versus Ag/AgCl electrode for [Eu(III/II)(ODDA)(H2O)],[Eu(III/II)(ODDM)], and [Eu(III/II)(DTPA)(H2O)], respectively, compared with -0.63 V for Eu(III/II) aqua). The thermodynamic stability constants of [Eu(II)(ODDA)(H2O)], [Eu(II)(ODDM)]2-, [Sr(ODDA)(H2O)], and [Sr(ODDM)]2- were also determined by pH potentiometry. They are slightly higher for the EuII complexes than those for the corresponding Sr analogues (logK(ML)=9.85, 13.07, 8.66, and 11.34 for [Eu(II)(ODDA)(H2O)], [Eu(II)(ODDM)]2-, [Sr(ODDA)(H2O)], and [Sr(ODDM)]2-, respectively, 0.1M (CH3)4NCl). The increased thermodynamic and redox stability of the Eu(II) complex formed with ODDA as compared with the traditional ligand DTPA can be of importance when biomedical application is concerned. A variable-temperature 17O-NMR and 1H-nuclear magnetic relaxation dispersion (NMRD) study has been performed on [Eu(II)(ODDA)(H2O)] and [Eu(II)(ODDM)]2- in aqueous solution. [Eu(II)(ODDM)]2- has no inner-sphere water molecule which allowed us to use it as an outer-sphere model for [Eu(II)(ODDA)(H2O)]. The water exchange rate (k298(ex)= 0.43 x 10(9)s(-1)) is one third of that obtained for [Eu(II)(DTPA)(H2O)]3-. The variable pressure 17O-NMR study yielded a negative activation volume, deltaV (not=) = -3.9cm3mol(-1); this indicates associatively activated water exchange. This water exchange rate is in the optimal range to attain maximum proton relaxivities, which are, however, strongly limited by the fast rotation of the small molecular weight complex.  相似文献

Eu(II) complexes are potential candidates for pO(2)-responsive contrast agents in magnetic resonance imaging. In this regard, we have characterized two novel macrocyclic Eu(II) chelates, [Eu(II)(DOTA)(H(2)O)](2-) and [Eu(II)(TETA)](2-) (H(4)DOTA=1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane-1,4,7,10-tetraacetic acid, H(4)TETA=1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane-1,4,8,11-tetraacetic acid) in terms of redox and thermodynamic complex stability, proton relaxivity, water exchange, rotation and electron spin relaxation. Additionally, solid-state structures were determined for the Sr(II) analogues. They revealed no inner-sphere water in the TETA and one inner-sphere water molecule in the DOTA complex. This hydration pattern is retained in solution, as the (17)O chemical shifts and (1)H relaxation rates proved for the corresponding Eu(II) compounds. The thermodynamic complex stability, determined from the formal redox potential and by pH potentiometry, of [Eu(II)(DOTA)(H(2)O)](2-) (lg K(Eu(II))=16.75) is the highest among all known Eu(II) complexes, whereas the redox stabilities of both [Eu(II)(DOTA)(H(2)O)](2-) and [Eu(II)(TETA)](2-) are inferior to that of 18-membered macrocyclic Eu(II) chelates. Variable-temperature (17)O NMR, NMRD and EPR studies yielded the rates of water exchange, rotation and electron spin relaxation. Water exchange on [Eu(II)(DOTA)(H(2)O)](2-) is remarkably fast (k298(ex)=2.5 x 10(9) s(-1)). The near zero activation volume (DeltaV++ =+0.1+/-1.0 cm(3) mol(-1)), determined by variable-pressure (17)O NMR spectroscopy, points to an interchange mechanism. The fast water exchange can be related to the low charge density on Eu(II), to an unexpectedly long M-O(water) distance (2.85 A) and to the consequent interchange mechanism. Electron spin relaxation is considerably slower on [Eu(II)(DOTA)(H(2)O)](2-) than on the linear [Eu(II)(DTPA)(H(2)O)](3-) (H(5)DTPA=diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid), and this difference is responsible for its 25 percent higher proton relaxivity (r(1)=4.32 mM(-1) s(-1) for [Eu(II)(DOTA)(H(2)O)](2-) versus 3.49 mM(-1) s(-1) for [Eu(II)(DTPA)(H(2)O)](3-); 20 MHz, 298 K).  相似文献
