The growing interest in Leptoglossus occidentalis, the conifer seed bug pest accidentally introduced into Europe in the 1990s, led us to investigate the female reproductive structures of the hymenopteran platygastrid Gryon pennsylvanicum, which is its candidate antagonist for biological control programmes. Our study revealed a genital apparatus with some characteristic features, such as an unusual length of the oviduct (divided into a long proximal and a short distal tract), the absence of accessory glands and the presence of a spermatheca provided with a small spermathecal gland. The ultrastructural investigation revealed that the shorter part of the common oviduct is involved in ion uptake whereas the longer part has two cell types with secretory function: the former with dense bodies and the latter with granular particles. The secretory contents of both are released into the oviduct lumen. The granular particles are formed in a complex of modified endoplasmic reticulum and appear as virus-like particles.  相似文献

Blood is a physiological substance with multiple water compartments, which contain water-binding proteins such as hemoglobin in erythrocytes and albumin in plasma. Knowing the water transverse (R2) relaxation rates from these different blood compartments is a prerequisite for quantifying the blood oxygenation level-dependent (BOLD) effect. Here, we report the Carr-Purcell-Meiboom-Gill (CPMG) based transverse (R2CPMG) relaxation rates of water in bovine blood samples circulated in a perfusion system at physiological temperature in order to mimic blood perfusion in humans. R2CPMG values of blood plasma, lysed packed erythrocytes, lysed plasma/erythrocyte mixtures, and whole blood at 3 T, 7 T, 9.4 T, 11.7 T and 16.4 T were measured as a function of hematocrit or hemoglobin concentration, oxygenation, and CPMG inter-echo spacing (τcp). R2CPMG in lysed cells showed a small τcp dependence, attributed to the water exchange rate between free and hemoglobin-bound water to be much faster than τcp. This was contrary to the tangential dependence in whole blood, where a much slower exchange between cells and blood plasma applies. Whole blood data were fitted as a function of τcp using a general tangential correlation time model applicable for exchange as well as diffusion contributions to R2CPMG, and the intercept R20blood at infinitely short τcp was determined. The R20blood values at different hematocrit and the R2CPMG values of lysed erythrocyte/plasma mixtures at different hemoglobin concentration were used to determine the relaxivity of hemoglobin inside the erythrocyte (r2Hb) and albumin (r2Alb) in plasma. The r2Hb values obtained from lysed erythrocytes and whole blood were comparable at full oxygenation. However, while r2Hb determined from lysed cells showed a linear dependence on oxygenation, this dependence became quadratic in whole blood. This possibly suggests an additional relaxation effect inside intact cells, perhaps due to hemoglobin proximity to the erythrocyte membrane. However, we cannot exclude that this is a consequence of the simple tangential model used to remove relaxation contributions from exchange and diffusion. The extensive data set presented should be useful for future theory development for the transverse relaxation of blood.  相似文献

The molecular and ultrastructural profiles of the symbionts found in the midgut and ileum of Cephalotes atratus, Cephalotes clypeatus, and Cephalotes pusillus were determined using the V3 region of the bacterial 16S rDNA gene and transmission electron microscopy (T.E.M.). Two samples of C. atratus, three of C. clypeatus, and six of C. pusillus were analyzed. The coefficients of similarity ranged from 80% to 94% for the samples of symbionts from C. clypeatus and C. atratus, despite being collected in geographically distant sites. The variability within symbionts found in the samples of C. pusillus varied from 29% to 55%, in samples geographically close as well as distant. PCR–DGGE was effective for the purpose of this study and can be considered a versatile tool to analyze gut microbiota. Details of the ultrastructural aspect of these bacteria are presented.  相似文献

The (La,Eu(2 CuO 4 system shows superconductivity by dopingCe orSr. Carriers inT′-phase doped withCe are electrons and those inT *-phase doped withSr are holes. In this work,151 Eu Mössbauer analysis is applied for theT′-phase(La 1?x Eu x)2?y Ce y CuO 4 and theT *-phase(La 1?x Eu x)2?y Sr y CuO 4 in order to compare the electronic state and the lattice vibration ofEu in these superconductors. In addition, correlations betweenT c and Mössbauer parameters are examined. The isomer shift of151 Eu is 0.784–0.840 mm/s in theT *-phase and 0.689–0.733 mm/s in theT′-phase, which shows that the lanthanide in these superconductors is tri-valent. The Debye temperature of151 Eu is 180–208 K in theT *-phase and 160–192 K in theT′-phase. The difference of isomer shift between these two phases is explained by theEu?O distance. For(La 1?x Eu x)2?y Ce y CuO 4, a light correlation betweenT c and the Debye temperature is observed, which means the importance of the lattice vibration in high-Tc superconductivity.  相似文献

We have studied the strangeness contribution to the elastic vector and axial form factors of the nucleon, using all available electroweak elastic scattering data sensitive to these contributions. Specifically, we combine ??p and $\bar{\nu} p$ elastic scattering cross sections from Brookhaven E734 with parity-violating asymmetries in elastic ep scattering, and quasi-elastic ed and e 4He scattering, observed in the SAMPLE, HAPPEx, G0 and PVA4 experiments. We are able not only to determine these form factors at individual values of momentum-transfer (Q 2), as has been done recently, but also to fit the Q 2-dependence of these form factors using simple functional forms. Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and advanced related methods such as diffusion spectrum and kurtosis imaging are limited by low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) at conventional field strengths. DTI at 7 T can provide increased SNR; however, B0 and B1 inhomogeneity and shorter T2? still pose formidable challenges. The purpose of this study was to quantify and compare SNR at 7 and 3 T for different parallel imaging reduction factors, R, and TE, and to evaluate SNRs influences on fractional anisotropy (FA) and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC). We found that R>4 at 7 T and R≥2 at 3 T were needed to reduce geometric distortions due to B0 inhomogeneity. For these R at 7 T, SNR was 70-90 for b=0 s/mm2 and 22-28 for b=1000s/mm2 in central brain regions. SNR was lower at 3 T (40 for b=0 s/mm2 and 15 for b=1000 s/mm2) and in lateral brain regions at 7 T due to B1 inhomogeneity. FA and ADC did not change with MRI field strength, SENSE factor or TE in the tested range. However, the coefficient of variation for FA increased for SNR <15 and for SNR <10 in ADC, consistent with published theoretical studies. Our study demonstrates that 7 T is advantageous for DTI and lays the groundwork for further development. Foremost, future work should further address challenges with B0 and B1 inhomogeneity to take full advantage for the increased SNR at 7 T.  相似文献

Balclutha brevis Lindberg 1954 is an allochthonous leafhopper infesting an invasive grass, Pennisetum setaceum, in Sicily and in mainland Europe; therefore, this species could compete with populations of native species, thus contributing to the loss of biodiversity. Considering the ecological implications of B. brevis, investigations on all its biological aspects represent, therefore, a premise for further studies in applied sciences. Based on the lacking ultrastructural data about the reproductive systems of the Auchenorrhyncha, we carried out morphostructural investigations on the male reproductive system of B. brevis. Further, a first report of DNA barcoding analysis (amplification and sequencing of Cytochrome Oxidase I gene) has also been performed to characterize B. brevis compared to other congeneric species. From a morphological point of view, the male reproductive system of B. brevis has an organization comparable to the general anatomical features of most of the Auchenorrhyncha species; however, comparing our data with those concerning the different groups of Cicadomorpha, some considerations are discussed. As for the histological and ultrastructural investigations, our results show a secretory activity of the various examined structures, mainly in the lateral ejaculatory ducts and in the accessory glands. The latter, in particular, show morphostructural differences comparing the distal tract to the proximal one; moreover, the histochemical techniques showed the possible presence of a lipid component in the peculiar cytoplasmic granules found in the gland cells. The significance of these findings in the accessory glands is discussed. Finally, the ultrastructural features found in the seminal vesicles are different from those of the lateral ejaculatory ducts and are indicative of the different roles played by these structures in the organization of the spermatozoa bundles.  相似文献

In this study the ultrastructural technique was used to analyze seminiferous tubule cells of the triatomine species Panstrongylus megistus, Rhodnius pallescens and Triatoma infestans. The data obtained provided evidence of the phenomenon known as persistence of the nucleolar material in initial spermatids at early differentiation. Our results confirmed the presence of the nucleolus and its products during spermiogenesis up to the formation of the axoneme and during spermatid elongation in all three species studied, similar to the process that takes place during cell division. In early spermatids, the nucleoli had a reticulate appearance and a well defined nucleolonema in P. megistus; showed a clear distinction between the fibrillar and the granular component in T. infestans; and had a compact aspect in R. pallescens. In this study, ultrastructural analyses at spermiogenesis indicated that these nucleolar products may represent RNP complexes that will probably be needed at early spermiogenesis when important changes such as chromatin condensation and acrosome and flagellum formation take place. Therefore, it was concluded from the ultrastructural analysis that the triatomine nucleolus does not totally disappear but remains as corpuscles that gather to form the next nucleolar cycle that in the case of meiosis, will be completed if fertilization occurs and a zygote is formed.  相似文献

In ultrashort TE (UTE) imaging, the short T2 values of the tissues of interest are comparable to the k-space readout duration, which result in significant T2 decay during k-space readout. This decay consequently causes significant effects on signal and contrast in UTE sequences, which we evaluate in this paper using models that incorporate the gradient slew rate slew and maximal constant gradient strength gmax, in conjunction with objects of diameter L. The resulting signal and contrast relationships demonstrate steep signal changes between T2 values of ~ 50–500 μs, corresponding to high T2 weighted contrast in this range. When γ⋅gmax2/(4π⋅slew) > 1/(2 L), termed the “ramp only” regime, gmax has no significant effect whereas decreasing slew leads to decreases in signal amplitude and shifts the contrast peak to higher T2 values. When γ⋅gmax2/(4π⋅slew) < 1/(2 L), termed the “mixed gradient” regime, both gmax and slew have significant effects, where decreases in either gmax or slew lead to lower signal amplitudes and shifts the contrast peak to higher T2 values. Under typical scan settings, the “ramp only” regime is usually dominant. Further, we demonstrate an unusual dependence of T2 weighted signal and contrast on object size, whereby objects with smaller values of L demonstrate lower signal amplitudes and peak contrast at higher T2 values, compared to otherwise identical objects with larger L. These results improve understanding of T2 weighted signal and contrast properties in short T2 tissue imaging with UTE.  相似文献

PurposeThe present study used histogram analysis values derived from T1- and T2- weighted (w) images to elucidate possible associations with Tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) and Vimentin expression in head and neck squamous cell cancer (HNSCC).Materials and methodsOverall, 28 patients (n = 8 female patient, 28.6%) with primary HNSCC of different localizations were involved in the study. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was obtained on a 3 T MRI. The images were analyzed with a whole lesion measurement using a histogram approach. TIL- and vimentin-expression was calculated on biopsy samples before any form of treatment.ResultsSeveral T1-derived parameters correlated with the expression of TIL within the stroma compartment: mean (r = 0.42, p = 0.025), p10 (r = 0.50, p = 0.007), p25 (r = 0.42, p = 0.025), median (r = 0.39, p = 0.036), and mode (r = 0.39, p = 0.04). No T2-derived parameter correlated with the TIL within the stroma compartment. Several T2-derived parameters correlated with the expression of TIL within the tumor compartment: mean (r = −0.52, p = 0.004), max (r = −0.43, p = 0.02), p10 (r = −0.38, p = 0.04), p25 (r = −0.53, p = 0.004), p75 (r = −0.52, p = 0.004), p90 (r = −0.48, p = 0.009), median (r = −0.52, p = 0.004), mode (r = −0.40, p = 0.03). Kurtosis derived from T2w images had significant higher values in tumor-rich tumors, compared to stroma-rich tumors, (mean 5.5 ± 0.5 versus 4.2 ± 1.2, p = 0.028).ConclusionsHistogram analysis parameters derived from T1w and T2w images might be able to reflect tumor compartments and TIL expression in HNSCC.  相似文献

Thermoluminescence of KI: T1, X- or β-irradiated at T ?77°K shows two main peaks at 105°K and 170°K. They are respectively attributed to the recombination of mobile VK centres with T1O centres and to the recombination of thermally released electrons from T1O centres with T12+ centres. Similar experiments performed under static electric fields (E <40kV cm-1) show that the intensity of the second glow peak is strongly reduced. The relative intensity variation is anticorrelated with the intensity of glow peaks occurring at T > 230 °K. We suggest that in the temperature range in which T1O centres are thermally ionised, the effect of the electric field is to favour the retrapping of these electrons on other traps (still unknown). Irradiation doses also play an important role and their effects are studied at T = 77 °K and T = 200 °K.  相似文献

We continue the previous discussion (A. D'Adda, J. E. Nelson, and T. Regge, Ann. Phys. (N.Y.)165) of the covariant canonical formalism for the group manifold and relate it to the standard canonical vierbein formalism as pioneered by Dirac. The form bracket is related to the Poisson bracket of classical mechanics. We utilise systematically the calculus of differential forms and a compound notation which labels Poincaré multiplets. In this way we obtain a particularly clear and compact expression for the Hamiltonian and the constraints algebra of the vierbein formalism.  相似文献

PurposeTo perform a pilot study to quantitatively assess cognitive, vestibular, and physiological function during and after exposure to a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system with a static field strength of 10.5 Tesla at multiple time scales.MethodsA total of 29 subjects were exposed to a 10.5 T MRI field and underwent vestibular, cognitive, and physiological testing before, during, and after exposure; for 26 subjects, testing and exposure were repeated within 2–4 weeks of the first visit. Subjects also reported sensory perceptions after each exposure. Comparisons were made between short and long term time points in the study with respect to the parameters measured in the study; short term comparison included pre-vs-isocenter and pre-vs-post (1–24 h), while long term compared pre-exposures 2–4 weeks apart.ResultsOf the 79 comparisons, 73 parameters were unchanged or had small improvements after magnet exposure. The exceptions to this included lower scores on short term (i.e. same day) executive function testing, greater isocenter spontaneous eye movement during visit 1 (relative to pre-exposure), increased number of abnormalities on videonystagmography visit 2 versus visit 1 and a mix of small increases (short term visit 2) and decreases (short term visit 1) in blood pressure. In addition, more subjects reported metallic taste at 10.5 T in comparison to similar data obtained in previous studies at 7 T and 9.4 T.ConclusionInitial results of 10.5 T static field exposure indicate that 1) cognitive performance is not compromised at isocenter, 2) subjects experience increased eye movement at isocenter, and 3) subjects experience small changes in vital signs but no field-induced increase in blood pressure. While small but significant differences were found in some comparisons, none were identified as compromising subject safety. A modified testing protocol informed by these results was devised with the goal of permitting increased enrollment while providing continued monitoring to evaluate field effects.  相似文献

Purpose

The aim of this study is to investigate whether subserosal enhancement on the delayed-phase dynamic magnetic resonance (MR) study (SED) can differentiate T2 from T1 gallbladder carcinoma (GBC).

Methods

The institutional research board approved this retrospective study. Between 1997 and 2006, there were surgically proven 11 T1 and 21 T2 GBC in 30 patients, all of whom had undergone preoperative contrast enhanced dynamic MR study, either with a 2D sequence (n=17) or 3D sequences (n=15). All images were reviewed by two radiologists for the presence of SED, and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was performed. Sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values were calculated by consensus.

Results

The areas under the ROC curves of the two readers were 0.91 and 0.86, and the kappa value was 0.78. Of the 21 T2 GBC, 18 and 3 showed positive and negative SED, respectively. Of the 11 T1 GBC, 1 and 10 showed positive and negative SED, respectively. The sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values of SED for diagnosing T2 lesions were 86%, 88%, 91% and 77%, respectively.

Conclusions

In conclusion, SED may be a useful sign to differentiate T2 from T1 GBC, which would affect the preoperative surgical planning of the patients.  相似文献

PurposeThis study investigated whether T1 values in native T1 mapping of 3T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the liver were affected by the fatty component.MethodsThis prospective study involved 340 participants from a population-based cohort study between May 8, 2018 and August 8, 2019. Data obtained included: (1) hepatic stiffness according to magnetic resonance elastography (MRE); (2) T1 value according to T1 mapping; (3) fat fraction and iron concentration from multi-echo Dixon; and (4) clinical indices of hepatic steatosis including body mass index, waist circumference, history of diabetes, aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase, and triglycerides. The correlations between T1 value and fat fraction, and between T1 value and liver stiffness were assessed using Pearson's correlation coefficient. The independent two-sample t-test was used to evaluate the differences in T1 values according to the presence or absence of hepatic steatosis, and the one-way analysis of variance was used to evaluate the difference in T1 value by grading of hepatic steatosis according to MRI-based proton density fat fraction (PDFF). In addition, univariate and multivariate linear regression analyses were performed to determine whether other variables influenced the T1 value.ResultsT1 value showed a positive correlation with the fat fraction obtained from PDFF (r = 0.615, P < 0.001) and with the liver stiffness obtained from MRE (r = 0.370, P < 0.001). Regardless of the evaluation method, the T1 value was significantly increased in subjects with hepatic steatosis (P < 0.001). When comparing hepatic steatosis grades based on MRI-PDFF, the mean T1 values were significantly different in all grades, and the T1 value tended to increase as the grade increased (P < 0.001, P for trend <0.001). On multiple linear regression analysis, the T1 value was influenced by MRI-PDFF, calculated liver iron concentration, liver stiffness, and serum aspartate aminotransferase level.ConclusionThe T1 value obtained by current T1 mapping of 3T MRI was affected by the liver fat component and several other factors such as liver stiffness, iron concentration, and inflammation.  相似文献

We report here a study of longitudinal relaxation (T1) and magnetisation transfer (MT) in peripheral nerve. Amphibian sciatic nerve was maintained in vitro and studied at a magnetic field strength of 3 T. A CPMG pulse sequence was modified to include either a saturation pulse to measure T1 relaxation or an off-resonance RF irradiation pulse to measure MT. The resulting transverse relaxation (T2) spectra yielded four components corresponding to three nerve compartments, taken to result from myelinic, axonal, and inter-axonal water, and a fourth corresponding to the buffer solution water in which the nerve sample was bathed. Each nerve component was analysed for T1 relaxation and MT. All three nerve T2 components exhibited unique T1 relaxation and MT characteristics, providing further support for the assignment of the components to unique physical compartments of water. Numerical investigation of T1sat measurements of each of the three nerve T2 components indicates that while the two shorter-lived exhibit similar steady-state magnetisation transfer ratios (MTRs), their respective MT properties are quite different. Simulations demonstrate that mobile water exchange between these two components is not necessary to explain their similar steady-state MTR. In the context of the assignment of these two components to signal from myelinic and axonal water, this is to say that these two microanatomical regions of nerve may exhibit similar steady-state MTR characteristics despite possessing widely different MT exchange rates. Therefore, interpreting changes in MTR solely to reflect a change in degree of myelination could lead to erroneous conclusions.  相似文献

The temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility of T1BiTe2 and T1Te, in the range 0.050 to 1.5K, has been investigated. The superconducting transition in the T1Te samples at T = 0.190K is discovered. In T1BiTe2 superconductivity has not been seen down to 0.050 K. All this shows that the superconducting transition discovered earlier by Hein and Swiggard at 0.140 K in T1BiTe2 is characteristic of the T1Te foreign phase.  相似文献

The ratio R of the intensities of anti Stokes and Stokes Raman shift lines of 124 cm-1 and of 118 cm-1 of active E. coli B was measured. For an oscillating system in therm equilibrium R ≈ 0.55 is expected whereas we find R ≈ 1.0. This shows that this system is excited strongly above thermal excitation in agreement with a previous theoretical conjecture [2–5].  相似文献
