We utilized three different types of TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) namely TiO2‐dopamine, TiO2‐CdS and bare TiO2 NPs as multifunctional nanoprobes for the rapid enrichment of phosphopeptides from tryptic digests of α‐ and β‐casein, milk and egg white using a simplified procedure in MALDI‐TOF‐MS. Surface‐modified TiO2 NPs serve as effective matrices for the analysis of peptides (gramicidin D, HW6, leucine‐enkephalin and methionine‐enkephalin) and proteins (cytochrome c and myoglobin) in MALDI‐TOF‐MS. In the surface‐modified TiO2 NPs‐based MALDI mass spectra of these analytes (phosphopetides, peptides and proteins), we found that TiO2‐dopamine and bare TiO2 NPs provided an efficient platform for the selective and rapid enrichment of phosphopeptides and TiO2‐CdS NPs efficiently acted as the matrix for background‐free detection of peptides and proteins with improved resolution in MALDI‐MS. We found that the upper detectable mass range is 17 000 Da using TiO2‐CdS NPs as the matrix. The approach is simple and straightforward for the rapid analysis of phosphopeptides, peptides and proteins by MALDI‐MS in proteome research.  相似文献

Silver-titania nanocomposites (Ag-TiO2 NCs) have unique functional attributes due to their photocatalytic and antibacterial properties. In this study, titania nanoparticles (TiO2-NPs) were successfully in-situ decorated with silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) using the aqueous extract of goji berries (Lycium barbarum L.) as a bioreducing and stabilizing agent. Different Ag-TiO2 NCs were synthesized by treating different concentrations of silver nitrate with a specific concentration of TiO2-NPs in the presence of fruit extract. The green-synthesized NCs were characterized using several techniques viz., ultraviolet–visible spectrophotometry, X-ray diffractometry (XRD), scanning electron microscopy, field-emission transmission electron microscopy (FE-TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. XRD analysis revealed the formation of face-centered cubic (fcc) crystals, and FE-TEM analysis revealed the embedment of Ag-NPs throughout the surface of TiO2-NPs. The average size of Ag-NPs on TiO2-NPs increased from 11.2 ± 3.05 nm to 16.4 ± 4.5 nm with an increase in the concentration of silver ions, and the morphology of Ag-NPs was predominantly quasi-spherical and hexagonal. These NCs exhibited an excellent photocatalytic degradation of an azo dye, methylene blue (MB). The synthesized Ag-TiO2 NCs (3:1) showed higher photocatalytic degradation efficiency of ∼ 93.4% for MB in 130 min under visible light irradiation. Ag-TiO2 NCS also exhibited good antibacterial activities towards Staphylococcus aureus (Gram-positive) and Escherichia coli (Gram-negative). Therefore, the formation of Ag-NPs on the surface of TiO2-NPs to form Ag-TiO2 NCs exhibits eco-friendly photocatalytic degradation of azo dye contaminants as well as antibacterial activity.  相似文献

This study discusses the possibility of using a corona discharge at atmospheric pressure and air RF plasma at low pressure for the cotton fibre activation prior to deposition of colloidal TiO2 nanoparticles in order to enhance antibacterial, UV protective and self-cleaning properties. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis confirmed the presence of TiO2 nanoparticles on the surface of cotton fibres. XPS elemental mapping indicated that TiO2 nanoparticles were more evenly distributed across the surface of untreated and corona pre-treated cotton fabrics in comparison with RF plasma pre-treated fabric. Atomic absorption spectroscopy measurements revealed that the equivalent total content of TiO2 in the cotton fabrics pre-treated by corona and RF plasma was 31% higher than in the fabric that did not undergo any treatment prior to loading of TiO2 nanoparticles. In order to achieve maximum bacteria (Gram-negative bacteria Escherichia coli) reduction, untreated cotton fabric had to be loaded with colloidal TiO2 nanoparticles twice, but only once following corona or RF plasma pre-treatment. Deposition of TiO2 nanoparticles onto cotton fabrics provided maximum UV protective rating of 50+. Extraordinary photocatalytic activity of TiO2 nanoparticles deposited onto cotton fabrics was proved by self-cleaning of blueberry juice stains and photodegradation of methylene blue in aqueous solution under UV illumination.  相似文献

A facile method was used to prepare hollow mesoporous TiO2 and Au@TiO2 spheres using polystyrene (PS) templates. Au nanoparticles (NPs) were simultaneously synthesized and attached on the surface of PS spheres by reducing AuCl4? ions using sodium citrate which resulted in the uniform deposition of Au NPs. The outer coating of titania via sol‐gel produced PS@Au@TiO2 core–shell spheres. Removing the templates from these core–shell spheres through calcination produced hollow mesoporous and crystalline Au@TiO2 spheres with Au NPs inside the TiO2 shell in a single step. Anatase spheres with double Au NPs layers, one inside and another outside of TiO2 shell, were also prepared. Different characterization techniques indicated the hollow mesoporous and crystalline morphology of the prepared spheres with Au NPs. Hollow anatase spheres with Au NPs indicated enhanced harvesting of visible light and therefore demonstrated efficient catalytic activity toward the degradation of organic dyes under the irradiation of visible light as compared to bare TiO2 spheres.  相似文献

Functional nanostructures of self‐assembled block copolymers (BCPs) incorporated with various inorganic nanomaterials have received considerable attention on account of their many potential applications. Here we demonstrate the two‐dimensional self‐assembly of anisotropic titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanocrystals (NCs) and metal nanoparticles (NPs) directed by monolayered poly(styrene)‐block‐poly(4‐vinylpyridine) (PS‐b‐P4VP) copolymer inverse micelles. The independent position‐selective assembly of TiO2 NCs and silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) preferentially in the intermicelle corona regions and the core of micelles, respectively, for instance, was accomplished by spin‐coating a mixture solution of PS‐b‐P4VP and ex situ synthesized TiO2 NCs, followed by the reduction of Ag salts coordinated in the cores of micelles into AgNPs. Hydrophobic TiO2 NCs with a diameter and length of approximately 3 nm and 20–30 nm, respectively, were preferentially sequestered in the intermicelle nonpolar PS corona regions energetically favorable with the minimum entropic packing penalty. Subsequent high‐temperature annealing at 550 °C not only effectively removed the block copolymer but also transformed the TiO2 NCs into connected nanoparticles, thus leading to a two‐dimensionally ordered TiO2 network in which AgNPs were also self‐organized. The enhanced photocatalytic activity of the AgNP‐decorated TiO2 networks by approximately 27 and 44 % over that of Ag‐free TiO2 networks and randomly deposited TiO2 nanoparticles, respectively, was confirmed by the UV degradation property of methylene blue.  相似文献

This study is aimed to highlight the possibility of engineering the multifunctional textile nanocomposite material based on the polyester (PES) fabric modified with colloidal Ag and TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs). The effects of concentration of NPs as well as the order of Ag and TiO2 NPs loading on antimicrobial, UV protective, and photocatalytic properties of PES fabrics were examined. The antimicrobial activity of differently modified PES fabrics was tested against Gram‐negative bacterium Escherichia coli, Gram‐positive bacterium Staphylococcus aureus, and fungus Candida albicans. The concentration of Ag colloid and the order of Ag and TiO2 NPs loading considerably affected the antimicrobial efficiency of PES fabrics. The fabrics provided maximum UV protection upon surface modification with Ag and TiO2 NPs. Ag NPs enhanced Ag NPs enhanced the photodegradation activity of TiO2 NPs and total photodegradation of methylene blue was achieved after 24 hr of UV illumination. Green synthesis of TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) from Prunus × yedoensis leaf extract (PYLE), and their application for removal of phosphate and their antibacterial activity, were studied for the first time. NPs were obtained using a green chemistry approach from 0.1 M TiO2 and PYLE at ratio of 1:1 (v/w). Initial confirmation of production of TiO2 NPs was provided by a color change from white to light yellow, then calcination was performed at 500 °C for 1 h. The TiO2 NPs were characterized using various analytical techniques such as ultraviolet–visible (UV–Vis) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, UV–Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. The results indicated that the optimal amount of TiO2 NPs for removal of phosphate was 10 mg/l (10 ppm) with duration of 25 min. Furthermore, the antibacterial activity of TiO2 NPs was also investigated using two different bacteria (Gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus and Gram-negative Escherichia coli) in aqueous medium. The results revealed highly efficient sunlight-driven photocatalytic and antibacterial activity of TiO2 NPs.  相似文献

The objective of the study is to formulate exclusive block copolymer (BCP) nanocomposites by dispersing bcp end‐grafted nanoparticles (bcp‐g‐nps) of PMMA‐b‐PS‐g‐TiO2 within PS‐b‐PMMA matrix. PMMA‐b‐PS‐g‐TiO2 is synthesized using a “grafting‐to” approach and characterized by XPS and TGA to establish that the copolymer chains were bonded to NPs. Good dispersion of bcp‐g‐nps in PMMA and PS‐PMMA bcp films is observed, in contrast to poor dispersion in PS films. In PS‐PMMA films, the compatible and identical bcp nature of the end‐grafted polymer, and large NP size caused it to span across entire PS‐PMMA domains. Poor and good dispersion in PS and PMMA matrices, respectively, can be rationalized by the fact that NPs interactions are driven by the PMMA at the outer corona of the bcp‐g‐nps. Developing bcp‐g‐nps as a strategic route to preparation of highly dispersed high permittivity NPs like titanium dioxide (TiO2) in bcp matrix can have important ramifications for energy storage devices. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We introduce a simplified sample preparation method using bare TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) to serve as multifunctional nanoprobes (desalting, accelerating, and affinity probes) for effective enrichment of phosphopeptides from microwave-assisted tryptic digestion of phosphoproteins (α-casein, β-casein and milk) in Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry (ESI-MS) and Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization Mass Spectrometry (MALDI-MS). The results demonstrate that TiO2 NPs can effectively enrich and accelerate the digestion reactions of phosphoproteins in aqueous solutions and also from complex real samples. After the microwave experiments, we directly injected the resulting solutions into the ESI-MS and MALDI-MS systems for analysis, and excellent sensitivity was achieved without the need for any washing procedure or separation process. The reasons are attributed to the high binding affinity and selectivity of TiO2 NPs toward phosphopeptides. Thus, phosphopeptides can be adsorbed onto the TiO2 NP surface. The digested or partially digested phosphoproteins can be concentrated onto the TiO2 NP surface. This results in the effective or complete digestion of phosphoproteins in a short period of time (45 s). In addition, high sensitivity and sequence coverage of phosphopeptide can be obtained using TiO2 NPs as microwave absorbers and affinity probes in MALDI-MS and ESI-MS. This is due to the photocatalytic nature of the TiO2 NPs because the absorption of microwave radiation that can accelerate the activation of trypsin for efficient digestion of phosphoproteins and enhances the ionization of phosphopeptides. The lowest concentrations detected for ESI-MS and MALDI-MS were 0.1 μM and 10 fmol, respectively, for α-casein. Comparing the two-step approach of TiO2 NPs with microscale TiO2 particles, the microscale TiO2 particles shows no effect on the microwave-assisted tryptic digestion of phosphoproteins. The current approach offers multiple advantages, such as great simplicity, high sensitivity and selectivity, straightforward and separation/washing-free technique for phosphorpeptide enrichment analysis.  相似文献

A new ZnTe modified TiO2 nanotube (NT) array catalyst was prepared by pulse potential electrodeposition of ZnTe nanoparticles (NPs) onto TiO2 NT arrays, and its application for photocatalytic degradation of anthracene-9-carboxylic acid (9-AnCOOH) was investigated. The even distribution of ZnTe NPs was well-proportionately grown on the top surface of the TiO2 NT while without clogging the tube entrances. Compared with the unmodified TiO2 NT, the ZnTe modified TiO2 NT (ZnTe/TiO2 NT) showed significantly enhanced photocatalytic activity towards 9-AnCOOH under simulated solar light. After 70 min of irradiation, 9-AnCOOH was degraded with the removal ratio of 45% on the bare TiO2 NT, much lower than 80%, 90%, and 100% on the ZnTe/TiO2 NT with the ZnTe NPs prepared under the pulsed “on” potentials of −0.8, −1.0, and −2.0 V, respectively. The increased photodegradation efficiency mainly results from the improved photocurrent density as results of enhanced visible-light absorption and decreased hole-electron recombination due to the presence of narrow-band-gap p-type semiconductor ZnTe.  相似文献

The research on the impacts of modified TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) on interfacial tension (IFT) is in its infancy. Our work focuses on the IFT of the modified TiO2 and Gemini surfactant N,N,N′,N′-tetramethyl-N,N′-dimyristyl-1,2-ethane diammonium dichlone (YND1233) complex solutions for reservoir stimulation purposes. The factors of YND1233, modified TiO2 NPs, temperature, aging stability, adsorption loss, and mineralized degree were explored with the comparison of unmodified TiO2 NPs and YND1233 as contrast samples. The results indicate that the dynamic IFTs decrease and then increase with the concentrations of YND1233 and modified TiO2 NPs, and the minimum IFT appears at 0.200 and 0.010 wt%, respectively. YND1233/modified TiO2 complex solutions show lower and more stable IFTs, better temperature resistance, longer aging time, and lower adsorption on the surface of quartz sand. The modified TiO2 NPs and YND1233 in the YND1233/modified TiO2 complex solution can be adsorbed to the interface and decrease the IFTs through synergistic effect. A mixed diffusion-kinetic mechanism is provided for the adsorption and interactions with Ca2+/Mg2+ involved in YND1233/modified TiO2 complex solution.  相似文献

It is challenging to study the single semiconductor nanocrystal electrochemistry and photoelectrochemistry. The photocatalytic processes, such as the oxidation of methanol and iodide, that result from the electron–hole pair formed within a nanoparticle (NP) allow the detection of discrete current transient events assigned to single entities. Photocatalytic current amplification allows detection of collisions between the semiconductor NPs and the ultramicroelectrode that produce current transient. Staircase responses and blips in the i vs. t response indicate that irreversible and reversible NP/electrode interactions result depending on the experimental conditions. Dye sensitization increases the photocurrent magnitude of ZnO and TiO2 with respect to bare TiO2 NPs. The microelectrodes used are Pt, TiO2/Pt, TiO2/Au, and F-doped SnO2.  相似文献

In this work, a simple and effective approach to obtain stable, nontoxic and strong electrochemiluminescence (ECL) interfaces is provided by coating TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) surfaces with Nafion. Unlike a decrease of the current resulting from the blocked diffusion usually displayed in electrochemical processes by Nafion coating, a Nafion/TiO2 NPs modified electrode not only shows a highly stable ECL, but also shows an 8‐fold increase of ECL intensity and a reduction of the overpotential of ca. 300 mV in the presence of K2S2O8 as co‐reactant, compared with those of bare TiO2 NPs modified electrodes. The roles of Nafion coating on TiO2 NPs in the ECL process are proposed to be twofold: to provide refuge for the free radicals and to enhance the electron‐hole recombination. Benefiting from its excellent ECL performance, the cationic exchange function of Nafion and the susceptible to being oxidized performance of dopamine (DA) by holes, the Nafion/TiO2 composite electrode could be used to sensitively and selectively detect DA with a detection limit of 1.0×10?11 M and a linear range of 1.0×10?11–6.0×10?7 M. The coexisting anionic species such as excess ascorbic acid show little interference on DA detection.  相似文献

Surface ligands are essential tools for the stabilization of colloidal nanoparticles (NPs) in solvents. However, knowledge regarding the effects of the ligand shell, especially the ligand length, is insufficient and controversial. Here we demonstrate solution-based experiments on n-alkylphosphonate-capped TiO2 NPs to investigate the effects of ligand length and solution temperature on colloidal stability. A robust ligand-exchange process is achieved that draws free ligands and impurities away from the colloidal solution. In the case of 8 nm anatase NPs in toluene, the dodecylphosphonate ligand provided better colloidal stability than all the other n-alkylphosphonate ligands. In addition, relaxation studies suggested there is kinetic hysteresis in the dispersion/agglomeration transition. The proposed method is applicable to a wide range of surface ligands designed to maximize the colloidal stability of NPs.  相似文献

We have developed a lactate biosensor based on a bionanocomposite (BNC) composed of titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2-NPs), photocatalytically reduced graphene, and lactate oxidase. Graphene oxide was photochemically reduced (without using any chemical reagents) in the presence of TiO2-NPs to give graphene nanosheets that were characterized by atomic force microscopy, Raman and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The results show the nanosheets to possess few oxygen functionalities only and to be decorated with TiO2-NPs. These nanosheets typically are at least 1 μm long and have a thickness of 4.2 nm. A BNC was obtained by mixing lactate oxidase with the nanosheets and immobilized on the surface of a glassy carbon electrode. The resulting biosensor was applied to the determination of lactate. Compared to a sensor without TiO2-NPs, the sensor exhibits higher sensitivity (6.0 μA mM?1), a better detection limit (0.6 μM), a wider linear response (2.0 μM to 0.40 mM), and better reproducibility (3.2 %).

Foam fluids are widely used in petroleum engineering, but long-standing foam stability problems have limited the effectiveness of their use. The study explores the synergistic effects and influencing factors of SiO2 nanoparticles (SiO2-NPs) with different wettability properties and three different surfactants. The paper investigates the foaming performance of different types of surfactants and analyzes and compares the stability of foam after adding hydrophilic and hydrophobic SiO2-NPs from macroscopic as well as microscopic perspectives, and the effects of temperature and inorganic salts on the stability of mixed solutions. The experimental results show that: 1) hydrophilic nanoparticles can significantly enhance the foam stability of amphoteric surfactants, with a small increase in the foam stability of anionic and cationic surfactants; 2) The concentration of nanoparticles did not have a significant effect on the stability of the cationic surfactants and this conclusion was verified in the experimental results of the surface tension measured below;3) The cationic surfactants showed better temperature resistance at temperatures of 50–90 °C. Both amphoteric surfactant solutions with the addition of hydrophilic SiO2-NPs or hydrophobic SiO2-NPs significantly improved the temperature resistance of the foam at high temperatures. The anionic surfactant solution with hydrophobic SiO2-NPs did not enhance the solution temperature resistance; 4) The surface tension of the surfactant solution gradually increases with increasing concentration of hydrophilic or hydrophobic SiO2-NPs and then levels off; 5) the hydrophilic SiO2-NPs had a significant effect on the salt tolerance of the anionic and amphoteric surfactant solutions. The salt tolerance of cationic surfactant solutions with hydrophobic SiO2-NPs was better than that of surfactants with hydrophilic SiO2-NPs.  相似文献

Hollow SiO2/TiO2 nanoparticles decorated with Ag nanoparticles (NPs) of controlled size (Ag@HNPs) were fabricated in order to enhance visible‐light absorption and improve light scattering in dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). They exhibited localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) and the LSPR effects were significantly influenced by the size of the Ag NPs. The absorption peak of the LSPR band dramatically increased with increasing Ag NP size. The LSPR of the large Ag NPs mainly increased the light absorption at short wavelengths, whereas the scattering from the SiO2/TiO2 HNPs improved the light absorption at long wavelengths. This enabled the working electrode to use the full solar spectrum. Furthermore, the SiO2 layer thickness was adjusted to maximize the LSPR from the Ag NPs and avoid corrosion of the Ag NPs by the electrolyte. Importantly, the power conversion efficiency (PCE) increased from 7.1 % with purely TiO2‐based DSSCs to 8.1 % with HNP‐based DSSCs, which is an approximately 12 % enhancement and can be attributed to greater light scattering. Furthermore, the PCEs of Ag@HNP‐based DSSCs were 11 % higher (8.1 vs. 9.0 %) than the bare‐HNP‐based DSSCs, which can be attributed to LSPR. Together, the PCE of Ag@HNP‐based DSSCs improved by a total of 27 %, from 7.1 to 9.0 %, due to these two effects. This comparative research will offer guidance in the design of multifunctional nanomaterials and the optimization of solar‐cell performance.  相似文献

A key to realizing the sustainable society is to develop highly active photocatalysts for selective organic synthesis effectively using sunlight as the energy source. Recently, metal‐oxide‐supported gold nanoparticles (NPs) have emerged as a new type of visible‐light photocatalysts driven by the excitation of localized surface plasmon resonance of Au NPs. Here we show that visible‐light irradiation (λ>430 nm) of TiO2‐supported Au NPs with a bimodal size distribution (BM‐Au/TiO2) gives rise to the long‐range (>40 nm) electron transport from about 14 small (ca. 2 nm) Au NPs to one large (ca. 9 nm) Au NP through the conduction band of TiO2. As a result of the enhancement of charge separation, BM‐Au/TiO2 exhibits a high level of visible‐light activity for the one‐step synthesis of azobenzenes from nitrobenzenes at 25 °C with a yield greater than 95 % and a selectivity greater than 99 %, whereas unimodal Au/TiO2 (UM‐Au/TiO2) is photocatalytically inactive.  相似文献

Currently, titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2 NPs) have been widely used in various applications including cosmetics, food additives and biomedicine. However, there are few reports available using TiO2 NPs to treat ocular diseases. Posterior capsular opacification (PCO) is the most frequent complication after cataract surgery, which is induced by the proliferation and migration of lens epithelial cells. Thus, inhibiting the proliferation of lens epithelial cells will efficiently reduce the occurrence of PCO. In this study, we investigated the effects of TiO2 NPs on HLE B‐3 cells with or without ultraviolet B (UVB) irradiation in vitro. We found that TiO2 NPs can inhibit HLE B‐3 cell growth, cause the elevation of intracellular [Ca2+], produce excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS), further reduce Ca2+‐ATPase activity and decrease the expression of plasma membrane calcium ATPase 1 (PMCA1), finally disrupt the intracellular calcium homeostasis and induce cell damage. Importantly, UVB irradiation can apparently enhance these effects on HLE B‐3 cells in the presence of TiO2 NPs. Taken together, the generation of excessive ROS and the disruption of intracellular calcium homeostasis may be both involved in TiO2 nanoparticle‐induced HLE B‐3 cell damage under UVB irradiation.  相似文献

We describe a simple method for preparing Au‐TiO2/graphene (GR) nanocomposite by deposition of Au nanoparticles (NPs) on TiO2/GR substrates. The as‐prepared Au‐TiO2/GR was characterized by X‐ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The presence of Au NPs on TiO2/GR surface remarkably improves the electrocatalytic activity towards the oxidation of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and β‐nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH). The Au‐TiO2/GR modified glassy carbon (GC) electrode exhibits good amperometric response to H2O2 and NADH, with linear range from 10 to 200 µM and 10 to 240 µM, and detection limit of 0.7 and 0.2 µM, respectively.  相似文献
